Chapter 1: The 5th Turtle
Hey everyone I'm back with a new story. I've been working on a way to make my own Young Justice story and I finally figured out a great new story for it. I got the idea from my character from my buddy kival737101. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves on a dark night on the streets of New York City as people walked through them without a care in the world…well not everyone.
Moving through the shadows and an incredible speed before leaping onto the rooftops.
As the clouds parted we see the figure was wearing a cloak to conceal his face as he looked across the street at a small store.
In the back, a store vendor laid out a bunch of food to toss out.
"Well this stuff lasted as long as it could.." The man mumbled before walking back inside.
Seeing his opening the cloaked man leaped in and landed in front of the box.
"Hmm let's see. What would the boys like?" Slowly opening it the cloaked man saw various scattered objects. "Hmm Leonardo might like this. And this one for Raphael, Donatello would enjoy this and Michelangelo…he might know what this is." The man said grabbing various objects when he heard a noise.
Quickly the cloaked man ran down another alley and hid behind the dumpster.
Slowly walking out were three men in suits who looked exactly the same.
"Them again." Splinter narrows his eyes.
"Kraang has all Kraang on scan alert." One said as the other two had high-tech blasters.
"I best leave at once." The man said but from his sleeve a metal tonfa slipped out and made a clanking noise.
"Is someone there?" A small voice asks getting his attention.
Turning around the cloaked man saw that stacked between two dumpsters in what appeared to be a fort made from a few cardboard boxes was a small boy around the age of 5. He had brownish-black hair, brown eyes and ruffled and dirty clothes and no shoes.
"A boy?" The man said surprised but his surprise was short-lived by a shot fired startling him and the boy.
Turning around they saw the three men looking at them.
"Mutant by order of Kraang you are to as you would say come quietly." It said.
Acting quickly the man picked up his tonfa and pulled out a second one.
"Never." He said before looking to the boy. "You best get away from here."
Not sure what was happening the boy ran and hid behind the dumpster.
As the Kraang started firing the man took off his hood revealing him to actually be a giant rat, this was Splinter.
"What the?" The boy gasps as Splinter charged in avoiding the fire and swinging his tonfas disarming one and kicking one Kraang's blaster out of its arm before stabbing it through the chest.
When the second one fires at him Splinter ducks and kicks the second one back and when the last one fires Splinter leaps over causing it to destroy its fellow ally.
As the final one continues fire Splinter leaps back and rolls out of the way causing him to fall back and land on the boy's cardboard house.
Recovering Splinter looks up and saw the last Kraang aimed its gun at his head causing the boy to gasp.
"Farewell." It said about to fire when a beer bottle flew in and hit it in the face making it miss.
"Hey get away from the big rat ugly!" The boy said throwing whatever he pulled out of the dumpster at it but the Kraang wasn't fazed.
Aiming its gun the boy jumps out of the way as it destroyed the dumpster and the boy fell to the ground.
Gasping Splinter saw it walking towards its new target.
"Farewell distraction." It said when Splinter swings with all his might and the tonfas knock its head off stopping the monster.
Panting heavily, Splinter puts away his tonfas before turning to the little boy who was on the ground.
"Thank you for your help young man." Splinter said helping him up.
"You're welcome." The boy said before walking to the boxes and trying to set them up again.
"Wait…is this your home?" Splinter asks.
"Yes." The boy nods.
"Where are your parents? Your family?" Splinter asks.
"I…I don't know." The boy admits.
"You don't know?" Splinter asks confused before slowly kneeling down to examine the boy and noticed on the side of his head was a small faded scar area near his hair indicating a serious injury.
"Young man do you have a name?" Splinter asks.
The boy pauses before frowning. "No…no I don't."
"Young man you saved my life tonight and for that I am forever in your debt. I can think of no better reward for saving me life than to give you a new life." Splinter said getting the boy's attention.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"Take my hand and you can have a family. I know 4 boys who would be very interested in having a new brother." Splinter said holding out his hand.
Slowly the boy looks to Splinter and then to his alley home slowly he reached out and took it.
"Now you're going to need a name…hmm you see when I was a boy I wanted to be an artist and like with my other sons I will name you after my favorite era, the Renaissance so maybe someday you will grow up into something great alongside your new brothers." Splinter said leading him away.
In a small area hidden among the sewers, four young turtles were sitting around. These were Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael.
"Where's Master Splinter he should have been back by now." Donnie asks.
"He'll be fine Donnie, just enjoy it while you can." Raph said.
"I hope he brought us back something tasty." Mikey said when the door opens.
Looking in they saw Splinter walk in first.
"Sensei." Leo said.
"Boys gather around, I have something to show you all." Splinter said as they all sat up. "You can come in now."
Looking ahead they saw the boy walk in behind Splinter surprising them.
"A human?" Leo gasps.
"Whoa, wasn't expecting that." Donnie said.
"Aw man I can't eat that." Mikey said.
"What's the deal sensei?" Raph asks.
"Boys meet your new brother, Giovanni." Splinter said slowly pushing him forward.
"Uh…hi." Giovanni said as the 4 turtles walk up to him. "So…talking turtles?"
"Pretty much." Leo shrugs.
"Cool." Giovanni said.
"Yeah I'm pretty cool but I can't say the same for these three." Raph said.
"Oh thanks." Donnie said when Mikey walks up.
"Welcome to the family Gio." Mikey said.
"Gio?" Gio pauses at the nickname before smiling for the first time today.
"Come on boys. I grabbed some food from the surface for our dinner. Let us celebrate the newest member of our family." Splinter said as they all cheered.
A few years later, Giovanni was sitting alongside his turtle brothers wearing a green hoodie and pants with a green mask over his face to resemble them.
"Now my sons today I have something for each one of you as we all continue our journey through life together." Splinter said as he stood up. "Although these are mostly from your own choosing it is clear to me, they chose you."
Walking to the wall Splinter turns to Leo first.
"The katana, a royal samurai weapon for those with courage and keen skill." Splinter said handing Leonardo a sword.
"Hai sensei." Leo said taking it before Splinter turned to Raph.
"The Sai for a fierce and fearless warrior who will always fight the hardest for his family." Splinter said holding out a pair of Sai.
"Thank you, sensei." Raph said taking them.
"The bo staff for a thoughtful soul and a peaceful heart." Splinter said handing it to Donnie.
"Aw man a stick." Donnie groans when Splinter turns to Mikey and Gio who were sharing popcorn.
"Uh." Acting quickly Mikey hands the popcorn to him as Splinter pulls out a pair of nunchaku.
"The nunchaku because…" Splinter pauses before realizing he didn't really have the right words to say them. "Because uh…they are perfect for you." Splinter said handing them to Mikey.
"Sweet." Mikey smiles causing Gio to chuckle.
"And finally, you." Splinter said stopping in front of him and holding out the same metal tonfas he used the day he found Gio. "Giovanni you may not have been there since the beginning but your path crossed with ours for a reason and you have become an excellent member of our family. For you I present the tonfas. A weapon that may not be the most glamourous at first but when used correctly can be very powerful in the right hands."
Smiling Gio took the tonfas. "Thank you sensei."
"Uh sensei if you don't mind we have something too." Leo said as he, Raph, Mikey and Donnie stood up.
"We'll be right back don't move." Mikey said as they ran out.
"What's going on?" Gio asks.
"I am as confused as you are." Splinter as Raph and Donnie came in first.
"Alright Gio close your eyes and no peeking." Donnie said.
"And don't open them until we say so or else." Raph said as Gio closes his eyes.
Slowly Mikey and Leo walked in with an object that caused Splinter to smile.
"Okay open your eyes." Leo said as Gio opens them and sees a round shield painted and designed to look like a turtle shell.
"Tada! Your very own turtle shell!" Mikey said.
"You guys made this for me?" Gio asks surprised.
"Well sorta. Splinter had this old shield lying around and he wasn't using it." Raph said.
"So we asked him if we could use it." Leo said.
"A little polishing, a lot of scrubbing and a cool paint job." Donnie lists.
"And now our brother can be a turtle just like us." Mikey smiles.
"Thanks, you guys." Gio smiles.
"Let me." Splinter said taking the shield and strapping it to his Gio's back.
"How does it feel to be a turtle?" Leo asks but once Splinter lets go Gio wobbles from the weight and falls back onto it.
"Little heavy." Gio winces causing them all to laugh as he struggles to get up.
"Not as easy as it looks huh bro?" Raph chuckles as he and Donnie help him up.
"How do you guys do it?" Gio asks.
"Practice, which apparently we'll have to teach you." Donnie chuckles as the 5 of them stood together.
"Now my sons it is time for the next level of your training to begin. Are you ready?" Splinter asks.
"Yes Master Splinter!" All five of them declared with their weapons ready.
"Good." Splinter smiles.
