...

He would be lying if he said that he had a good nights rest

He was in and out of sleep, he eventually gave up on trying to go back to sleep. He got up put a T-shirt on went to the kitchen, and now he was sitting there with coffee. He usually didn't like the brown liquid Tom and Tord drink, but it kept him awake even if he couldn't go back to sleep.

It was now 5:33, Edd usually wakes up around 7 ..uh something. He didn't know, all he knew was that he got up earlier than the rest of them. Then Tord, around 8 something. Tom sleeps in the latest, gets up when everyone else is awake.

He remembers their sleep schedule, because he gets woken up by their alarm clocks a few times before.

But this past week, he hasn't gotten much sleep. The others would notice this however and ask if he was feeling okay, he would usually brush it off and tell he was fine, with the usual smile on his face.

He noticed the sun making its way up, he decided he would go for a walk, maybe that will wake him from his lack of sleep and put him in a better mood than he his.

He went back up stairs to get his purple hoodie and green trench coat, only to bump into Tord unexpectedly, holding a mug, surprisingly the contents in the mug didn't spill out.

"Oh.. I'm sorry Todd, I didn't see you there." Matt said quietly not to wake the others, nervously smiling and scratching the back of his head.

Matt expected Tord to be on his way or scold him for not looking where he was going, but he smiled gently at Matt, used to Matt calling him Todd instead of his Tord, "That's alright my friend, What are you doing up so early?" Tord asked, Matts usually not awake at this time, but neither is he but they all knew Tord liked to change things up a bit.

Matt sighed, "Well I just couldn't sleep very well last night, I was going to go for an early walk around the neighborhood." He perked up. "Hey, Tord want to come walk with me?" Matt said with a smile on his face.

Tord wasn't expecting that, well hes' got nothing else better to do so might as well, and to spend time with Matt some, plus he couldn't say no to a person like Matt, that goofy ass grin on his face. "Sure, let me just finish this and we'll go." Tord said mentioning to the mug in his hand, as he headed down the stairs, and into the kitchen.

Matt got his purple hoodie, but left his green trench coat, sure it was given to him and he usually wears it everyday, but he decided to leave it just for today at least.

He went back down the stairs, and joined Tord in the kitchen.

Matt decided to have breakfast and got himself a bowl.

Tord decided to jump the fence and ask something, "Why couldn't you sleep my friend? Something the matter?" Tord asked, seeing if he would get a legit answer, unlike what he keep telling them.

"Uh well, I don't know..." Matt said with a shrug, and got the milk out to pour into his cereal. Tord wasn't satisfied with the answer, but didn't push Matt about it.

Matt got done with his breakfast, and Tord got done with his coffee before Edd could wake up.

They headed outside, and it was in perfect weather conditions. The sun was just now rising, making the sky orange pink and purple, like a reverse sunset, Matt forgot what a reverse sunset is called. It wasn't hot nor cold, it was in the middle of Autumn. Matts favorite season.

They walked down the sidewalk, "So we got any destination?" Tord asked. Matt shook his head no, "nah, thought we would just walk.

Tord was about to light a cigar, when Matt took it and threw it. That was Tords last one. "What the hell Matt?!" Tord said looking at the gingered haired male, you could practically see the steam coming out of his ears . "Stop smoking, it's bad for you, it's also bad for your skin." Matt said only worried for his friends health, he smokes too much.

Tord grumbled and looked at the ground as they walked. He couldn't be mad at Matt, not really. He really did need to stop smoking though, although it was a way to cope with stress or just because he was bored. But he couldn't just stop then and there, maybe lessen how many he smoked for Matts and his sake, so Matt can stop throwing his cigars, and make Tord sock him in the face.

They continued walking, and Matt spotted a particularly tall tree. Matt walked up to the tree and sat down, patting the spot next to him, motioning for Tord to sit down with him. Tord rolled his eyes, but still kept a smile on his face. He sat down, and the Morning breeze sweep by them.

"Isn't this just a lonely Morning?" Matt said, mostly to himself.

"Yes it is my friend." Tord had to agree, this was a beautiful morning. "By the way Matt, thank you for letting me walk with you." Tord said.

Matt smiled at his friend. "No problem Todd!" Still with that goofy ass smile.

Matt then set his hand down, only to feel something like a rock, he looked down, and it wasn't a rock at all. He picked it up, and whipped off the grass and dirt on it, it was an egg, it was blue, and bigger than a chicken egg. Tord noticed this and moved closer to Matt. "What is that you have?" Tord asked. Matt looked the egg over , there were no cracks nor dents to be seen in the egg. "Not sure, but I guess a bird egg, can I keep it?" Matt finally looked up at Tord.

Tord didn't know what to do. "Matt, I..I don't know, we don't even know how long the egg has been sitting there. Plus even if it's only been there a few days or even hours, it might have been too cold for it to survive out here, I'm surprised it's still here." Tord said bluntly but was worried how Matt would react, he was more sensitive than the rest of them.

Matt stared at the egg, "Th-then lets go home and take c-care of it!" Matt said getting up, hoping that if they get there soon enough that it would survive with his care. The egg was still kinda warm, but mostly cold.

Tord got up and looked at him with sad eyes, but he knew he wouldn't get through Matt when it came to animals, Matt loved animals even as a kid. He wouldn't forgive himself if the animal was dead, that would break Matt, even if it meant that the little one was already dead.

Tord sighed. "Okay Matt...Lets go home." Matt smiled his biggest smile, basically ran home, but would stop and wait for Tord to catch up. "C'mon Tord! I can't wait all day." Matt said eagerly, not the slightest aggravated. "Alright, alright I'm coming." Tord said, "Matt..." Matt stopped in his tracks, and looked back at him. "Yes?" Matt said with innocent eyes. "Don't tell the other two just yet, we don't know how they'll act." Tord said. Matt nodded, swinging the door open.

He saw Tom and Edd, and ran past them. "Hican'ttalkrightnowbye." Matt said running past them.

They were both confused, and trying to process what just happened, they looked at Tord. He only shrugged, and said "New pet rock I guess." He lied, he wanted to give Matt a chance.

Matt closed the door behind him grabbed his green trench coat, and made it to what seemed like a nest, and put the egg on it. He got a desk lamp from his closet and set it next to it, turning it on, making it look down at the egg to warm it up. And waited

Hes' done research about birds, and how to take care of them if he ever got one. He never did get one when he was younger, sure he would get a dog or cat, but they didn't interest him like birds do. He was always afraid of the bigger dogs, and cats always seemed to hate him, except Ringo of course. He always liked birds, to their feathers, to their beaks, to the way they fly, sometimes Matt wished he could fly. He didn't care what bird it was except ostriches, he just never liked them.

Now he has a responsibility to take care of this little egg. He jumped when he heard a knock at the door, "Hey Matt, can I come in?" Tord asked. "Come in." Matt said through the door, Tord opened it, and closed it before the other two could come in.

Tord saw the little set up on the desk, Tord still had that sad look in his eyes, but smiled none the less. "So I see the little set up you did." Tord says walking up to the egg.

"Yes, I want to make sure that it warms up again." Matt said, as if he knew everything about birds. Tord smirks.

Tord was still worried about the little one being already dead, do to the conditions it was in.

that's until it moved.
