The World of Pokémon.
Different from our world, this one has humans coexist with mysterious creatures with supernatural powers. There are Hundreds. Thousands. Millions. Possibly, Billions of Pokémons.
Both humans and Pokémon have lived together, spending time with one another, traveling around the world, and even battle each other in the Pokémon Battle.
An amazing world, that's true, but sadly it only exists in the videogame world.
Created by Satoshi Tajiri, this imaginary world has become one of the greatest franchises the gamers have the pleasure to experience. Of course, this is my opinion as I am a Pokémon fan since little. Yep! I was just like those people with the dream of becoming a Pokémon Trainer, have my own Pokémon, and have amazing adventures through the world, fighting gym leaders and other trainers, collecting badges, and competing in the Pokémon League.
But soon I had to grow and be realistic, even if I was a fan (still am) it doesn't mean I will have a wish come true. As I said, Pokémon is a fictional world and it's not like there's God that can fulfill that childhood wish...
Or so I thought.
My name is Edgar Martinez, my family and friends call me Ed for short, I'm 16 years old, and I practice martial arts and wrestling. Matter of fact, my entire family knows either or both for anything that might happen. And believe me, I was prepared for anything in my life, but I wasn't prepared for this accident that would grant me my wish.
To have my desired adventure in the Pokémon World.

Ed's Room
In a large room, on a bed, lies a sleepy person. Their movements under the covers could tell anyone that walks in that they were having a great dream. However, that would be broken up by the sound of the clock's alarm, which kept ringing until a hand came out of the cover and slammed the clock, it stopped ringing and the person started to get off the cover, revealing a young teen in his sleeping clothes.
"Man, no matter what I do, I just can't get used to this." He groggily says as he slugs his feet off the bed and into the floor before making his way up to a mirror, looking at his reflection. His hair was a complete mess. I'll tell you this much, it was like if Sonic the Hedgehog went to his room, and seconds later he left, leaving a hair stylish nightmare. "Well, aren't you a sight to behold, you might get a few female dogs to love you." Ed chuckled while cleaning his eyes, "I better go and watch myself, today is going to be another day!" Ed says with a determined face, he turns around and walks inside the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Narrator: Twenty Minutes Later...
"Ahhh, I feel alive." The young teen says while getting out of the bathroom, a towel around his waist and walking directly in front of his closet. "Quick change!" he opens it and before any of you readers know (Yeah I broke the 4th Wall) He was already dressed up and had closed the closet.
He quickly looks in his mirror to check himself up. He was wearing a leather black vest with the words "E4E'' on the back, a white shirt with red stripes, long blue pants, brown sneakers, and on his neck was a collar flat poke-ball. (For those who don't see the character, think of Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat X without the glasses, and the blond hair now is black) "Yep, I am ready!" Everything was looking in order, so he turned around and left his room.
Making his way downstairs and heading to the kitchen, he found a note sticking on the fridge with an arrow pointing at the microwave. He picks the paper to read the content in it.
"Good morning! Breakfast in the microwave!
~Love you: Mom and Big Sis!~
"Well, at least they remember to leave breakfast. I swear one of these days they are going to forget about me." He jokes as he goes to the microwave, surely there was food in it, heating it for a few minutes.
After a healthy breakfast, Ed cleans the dishes and picks a backpack that he had prepared beforehand last night. It was as he exited his house that he felt his phone ring through his pocket.
He quickly answered, "Hello? Master Cage speaking."
"Real funny, Ed. You know that only one man can be called Cage." The person on the other line said in a sarcastic tone. "Please just tell me you are heading here. With your training gear."
"Oh, don't be a bloody baby, Scar. I'm already heading there." Ed chuckle as he began to walk through the street of his home. "It's only six in the morning. I have two hours to get there."
"Look man, I know I'm being very harsh, but can you blame me? We are entering into the WWF!"
"I heard that!" Ed couldn't blame him. "I just can't believe that it's happening to us!" He said as he looked at both sides and walked through the road.
Who would have thought that they would get the opportunity to become Superstars in the best wrestling corporation in the world!
"Tell me about it." The other person is known as 'Scar' says. "It's one opportunity of a lifetime! And I don't want for either of us to waste it!"
"I know. I know." Ed sighs as he begins to get with the crowd. ('Although, this is a good opportunity for dad to have connections with Mr. Bincent Mc Man.') He could see his father, who is a martial arts expert and owner of a successful company/dojo, making negotiations with the Boss of WWF.
It's the best thing he could hope to achieve.
"Look, just be careful on your way here. I have a bad feeling for you." He could feel the worry inside his friend's voice. "I need my BF in here. I'm counting on you!"
"You are too dependent on me." Ed rolled his eyes in playfulness. "One of these days, I will be gone and you will have to succeed yourself in your own hands."
"Dude! What did I just say!?" Wow, he just shouted over the phone, scaring some passersby that were close by to jump in surprise.
"Okay! Calm down, I'll be there as soon as I can." Ed said before hanging out.
He let out a breath as he reached the bus stop, and began to wait for the vehicle to come. ('I still can't believe it...Me? On the show where legends like Eddie Guerrero, Flick Blair, Wild Randy, and Hock Hogen are?') He thought as he chuckled in joy.
Is not a surprise for him. Wrestling and Fighting have been in the family.
His father is an expert in Ten martial arts and had won seven tournaments. He is now a successful CEO of his own fighting company.
His mother is an excellent trainer in Boxing. Even when she was young, she could give a nasty hook to anyone who dares to bully her. So entering boxing didn't sound bad to her. She is also a very talented fashion designer...weird combination.
Lastly was his big sister. Taking both parents' attributes, she forces herself on athleticism, a proud expert when it comes to gymnastics and sports. Winning gold and trophies, she proved to be talented and hardworking. There's also that strange affection she had of having monitored Ed constantly like if he was going to die or something.
('I'm just glad she doesn't have a Brother complex.') Ed sighs at that. There's no way he can live in the same house with that.
He focused himself on his phone to wait for the bus. Looking at the wallpaper of his childish art of him dressed in a Pokémon Trainer outfit with six Pokémon of one of his teams. ('Man...No matter how many times I see it, even if it's just a child drawing, I cannot stop but wish I could be a Pokémon Trainer and have my adventure.') Not that he wasn't satisfied with this life; it's one of his best adventures yet.
He got into wrestling because of his parents, but what improved his desire was Pokémon. Their constant battles, while exaggerated, drove him into being a strong and passionate fighter. His quick thinking in the ring made his performance a sight, catching the attention of other wrestling companies.
Take the experience life gives you and use it for life. That's his motto.
He was thirteen when his achievement came to life. He practically had a contract with almost ten companies.
Now here he is, heading to one of those companies with his best bud and grabbing that position of a Superstar.
And it's all thanks to Pokémon…
('I thank that game for everything...If there's another life after death, I wouldn't mind being born in a place like that. Becoming a Trainer and all.') He chuckled at that thought.
As if that was ever gonna happen-
"Thief!"
Ed yelped in surprise when he heard a scream of desperation. He turned to his right side as the voice came from there, only to feel a slight bump pushing him forward. While taken back by it, he managed to regain his balance-
*BAAAAAAAM!*
A loud horn sound caught his attention, he turned to the side and saw the incoming bus... heading at him.
Before he knew it, everything went dark.
Ed couldn't tell, but when he started to regain consciousness, he knew that something was wrong. Opening his eyes, he could only see darkness.
"Ugh...I feel like a bloody truck just hit me." He grumbled as he held his forehead and stood up. He focuses on his surroundings, seeing nothing but black. "...What the hell? Where am I?"
Thus, he fully stood up and began to walk. Skipping to thirty minutes on the abyss, Ed was finally getting irritated by the walk.
"Jeez! What the hell is this place?! I haven't found anything!" He complained while trying to see anything (again). "At least give something! Like, I don't know, a freaking door or a rock!"
He spoke as if he was going to be answered.
"Very impatient, you are."
...Okay, was not expecting that.
Ed snapped his head to the side and quickly dropped himself into a fighting pose, narrowing his eyes at the voice. "Whose there? State your business." He demanded.
"At ease, young one."
Suddenly, a bright light shone in his eyes, forcing him to cover his face. It began to shimmer down, allowing Ed to see what happened.
In front stood a blue orb of light, floating like a Ghastly, minutes the face.
"For you can see, I come in peace."
Ed turned chibi and his eyes turned white, blinking several times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.
"...Um...Is there a problem?" It spoke.
Did Ed lose his sanity?
"I'm tripping balls in here!"
Yep! He has lost his sanity
"Huh?"
"I'm seeing the light of the Afterlife, what was in the food my mother made? It better not had been one of her stupid powder-white creations!" Ed said while pointing at the floating orb with a terrifying expression.
"...I have no idea what you are referring about." The orb continues to speak, "However, I do believe there are some... important factors that you must know."
Ed calms himself up, making the usual breath in and out routine. "Okay...I'm calm...So let's just move some things out of the way first." He closed his eyes for ten seconds before opening them. "...Still see the bright lightbulb and the dark place." He pinches his arm hard, leaving a red mark. "...Felt pain and still awake."
It's official. This is real.
"Okay." Ed sighs, "So, questions; where am I? Who are you? And what the hell happened?" He asked the orb.
"Ah yes, understandable questions," the blue orb spoke as it began to explain, "Firstly, you are located deep in the consciousness of your mind. Secondly, I'm afraid I cannot say who I am at the current moment. And as for your final question...you are dead."
…
…
…
"...Beg your pardon?"
Dead? Him? How is that-
"As you might remember, or what you can remember, you were pushed to the street, landing in front of a bus that impacted you. You suffer extreme internal damage and severe blood loss. Your soul is currently standing between the line of life and death." It finished explaining.
...He did get hit by that bus face first, huh.
"...So you are saying that I'm right next to death's door." Ed summarized.
"That it's correct." The orb said before floating down a bit, "I sincerely apologize for this predicament. You weren't supposed to die this fast."
Ed couldn't believe it, to think that his life is about to end like this-
"Wow, this sucks," Ed said in neutrality.
Oh come on, really?! Who takes the information this well?! And after all the trouble I did, to write this part?!
The orb floated up a bit, one could feel the confusion in it. "This sucks? I did not expect that kind of reaction." It said.
The black-haired boy simply sighs again, "Well... Can't exactly find a reason to deny everything you have said. You sound so sincere, and I can't just go act like it can't be true since I just confirmed I'm not dreaming." He crossed his arms together, "Besides, everyone would soon die. I was just a bit too soon."
A very good point, life is a mystery.
"I see your point." The flying object understands his logic.
('So this is it, I'm in the line between life and death.') Ed felt like this was a big joke. Scar had a premonition of this and he ignored it. Nothing he can do about it now. ('Dad. Mom. Sis. Scar...Sorry, I'm going first to beyond the sky.') They'll probably feel devastated to hear the news of him.
How funny that he was talking about death and now he is dead...Irony does work in wonders.
"So!" Ed stops feeling sad and looks at the blue orb, "Since I'm dying, are you...the guide to where I'm going to be judged whenever I'm going to either Heaven or Hell?"
"No." That answered confused Ed, what does it mean by 'no'? "I'm not here to guide you anywhere. Rather, I'm here to...fulfill your greatest wish."
"Eh?"
"As you were dying, your heart and soul were clinging to a wish. One that you desired so much to make true...and since your death wasn't expected; I'm here to offer you that wish-granting desire." The orb said.
"What? What wish?" Ed asked.
"Weren't you the one who truly wanted? Think about it."
"Think about what? What wish could 'possibly' make you come to me? The only wish I ever wanted was…" Ed stood quiet after that, his brain trying to process all the details he just got. ('Wait…')
His eyes began to shrink. ('No way.')
His jaw opened ever so slightly. ('It can't be!')
There's no way his previous thoughts were 'actually' getting to be true, right?!
"My wish...was to become a Pokémon Trainer."
"Exactly." The light spoke, "With your soul floating in this unconsciousness, I can create an opening to the world of Pokémon and transport you there." It moved close to Ed, making the boy flinch back a little, "And consider that you are close to death, what do you have to lose?"
Ed stared at it with a panic expression, although something did catch his attention, "Hold on. First off, the way it sounds of me dying is like the best thing that could happen."
"I did not mean to offend your death."
"No worries," Ed sighs as he placed a hand over his head, "It's just...this is way too much for me right at the moment."
"Are you dissatisfied with going?" The orb asked.
"Are you kidding?" To answer that, Ed's eyes turn to stars, glowing. "This is way too good to not take!" His childhood dream is right on his face! "It's just...I-I don't know what to say."
There's also the fact this was way too good to be true, but let's ignore that.
"Then I can take that as a yes from your part?"
"...You know what?" Ed slam his hands on his cheeks, "Fuck it! Dream or not, I'll do it!" He pumped his fist and smiled at the orb. "I accept the invitation to get 'Isekai'!"
"Excellent!" The orb sounded pleased by the answer. It then began to brightly illuminate.
A small white circle began to appear below Ed, making him jump in surprise. "Woah!"
"I have finished preparing the transportation of your soul to the World of Pokémon. Your body should be reform by my power." It explained.
"...That means I'm still sixteen?"
"Yes."
('Fweeh, thank God!') That was a relief. He did not want to go on a journey at the age of ten. That's way too wrong.
"Before you leave, 's there anything you want that I should give you?" The question confused the raven-haired. " Like, if there's anything special you would want in this new world? Like, something you didn't have before?"
Ed blinks at that, taking the time to think of that offer. He snaps his fingers when he remembers something, "Actually, there is something."
"What would that be?"
"Okay. So...when I died, I had a backpack with me." Ed explained as he remembers back the moment the truck hit him. "Can I have that back, with everything inside?"
"..."
"...Uhm, hello?"
"Is that it?" The orb asked in a tone that sounded confused. "It's that the only thing you want?"
"Yes." He didn't hesitate to answer.
"...What a strange request." The orb began to glow as something began to materialize. Soon, Ed's backpack had appeared and was handed to its owner. "Here. Your belongings should still be inside."
Ed accepted back, feeling the familiar weight inside. "Thank you." He put it on his back, making slight jumps to adjust it. "Okay! I'm ready!" He stated.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Ed felt awkward as the orb just stood there in silence for a few seconds, "...Is...Is there something wrong?" He had to ask.
"...To be honest, when I asked if you want something else, I was expecting more." It responded.
"Like what? Superpowers?"
"Yes."
That had Ed laughing, making the blue ball of light sagged in surprise. "Now that would be something! And I'm sure it would be stupid for me to not do it." he proceeded to place his hand over his chest, right above his beating heart, "But honestly, I don't need it. Where I am going, I always wanted to take one thing; my heart." His eyes gleam in confidence, "Because I know, no matter what happens, the heart will never lie to you on your path!"
"!" Let it be known that the reason you all know the orb was shocked by that statement is that I'm telling you now. "...What a powerful statement."
"I learn it from watching Pokémon." Ed felt proud of saying that. What a kid!
"Then, do as you feel pleased," It was the last thing the orb said as the circle under Ed began to glow, "Starting transfer and opening gateway to dimension 876." Ed's body began to float in the air, surprising the boy. "Coordinations completed. May you have a safe journey, Edgard Martinez."
Ed smiled at it as he could feel his body getting tired. "I will...Thank you for this great opportunity!" Once he said those words, he was shot into the abyss, disappearing like a star.
"...What an interesting fellow, and such pure soul." the orb began to vanish from existence. "I couldn't help but bless him with a powerful gift. When you figure it out, I'm sure you will see and experience life like never before." and with that, it disappeared for good.
Get ready Pokemon World, here comes Ed!
