[Private's POV]
Our search for the hatchling's mother was a dead end until I noticed that we didn't question all the animals. One drawing wasn't checked off the list however. Kowalski groaned in annoyance as we went forward to Fred's tree.
I knocked on it and Fred came out,"Uhh... Hello? "
"Hi to you too Fred," I answered, "Have you the mother of this hatching."
"What's a hatching?"He asked while Kowalski appeared to be reciting a mantra.
"Do not engage... Do not engage... Do not engage..."
"Oh you mean the egg in that tree that was blown up? Yeah I recall seeing a group of rats near it." Fred said.
"Wait what?" Kowalski asked alarmed.
"Thanks a lot Fred!" I said while we slid off.
Skipper's voice blared out of my walkie, "Private status?"
"Fred informed us that the Rats were last seen near the tree, over." Kowalski announced.
"What? I'll order Rico to be with you immediately. I'm not getting any signs of that puffin anywhere, but he'll be back." Skipper assured.
