Chapter 112: Road to Redwood Highway

It was Wednesday morning in the Human Realm, Amity having woken up and was getting ready for her training with Sly.

"Alright Amity, today is your first day of learning how to be a Fae," Amity said to herself in the bathroom mirror. "It's time I start learning about my new powers and abilities… my training arc begins…" she declared with her fist up. She was wearing a red headband tied around her forehead, a pink tank top with black jersey pants with pink stripes, and purple and black tennis shoes. She also wore black fingerless gloves.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Amity headed to the kitchen to join Dipper, Soos, Ford, and Camila for breakfast. "Morning, guys!" she greeted. "Or should I say, buen día."

"Very good, Amity," Camila commented as Abuelita handed Amity a plate of breakfast.

"Yes, very good," Abuelita said.

"You look excited, Amity," Dipper said while Amity sat down and began to eat.

"Yeah," Amity nodded. "I am so pumped for my training with Sly today. Before and even after I learned that I was part-Fae, I have had to figure things out on my own. There is still a lot that I don't know, including how to properly handle some of my new powers. I have had no one to teach me about being a Fae. But now I have Sly as my teacher and I should be able to get a better idea of what I am capable of, as well as get some of my questions answered."

"That's nice, I do hope you learn a lot from Mr. Sly," Camila responded with a smile.

"Yeah, me too," Amity responded while Acorn flew over dodging Ghost, who was trying to eat her again, in the background. "What about you, Camila? What are your plans for your first day living in Gravity Falls?"

"Well, I was thinking of going for a walk around town," Camila answered. "Maybe introduce myself to a few of the locals. In time, maybe I will even make a few friends. But right now, I just want to slowly reintegrate myself back into society." She turned to Ford. "The agents said they could provide the legal documents, right?"

"That is correct, Camila," Ford responded with a nod. "They are still willing to help you start a new life here."

"That is very generous of them," Camila said while looking at everyone at the table. "Though thank you all for helping me. You've been very kind."

"Hey, don't mention it, Mrs. Noceda," Soos mentioned. "After all, you're basically an honorary member of the extended Pines family."

"Yeah," Dipper agreed. "We are happy to help you in any way that we can."

Camila nodded and smiled, thinking about how lucky her daughter was to know such good people. And getting to know them more was definitely one of the things she looked forward to during her time in Gravity Falls.

After breakfast, Amity left the Ramirez place and headed into the forest with Ghost and Acorn.

"Sly should be around here," Amity said.

"Just listen for his music," Acorn suggested.

Ghost's ears picked up a sound. "I'm hearing something."

Amity heard it as well, recognizing it as the sound of a harmonica playing. She followed the sound until she spotted someone playing the harmonica by a tree…

"Sly?" Amity asked.

"Hey, kid," Sly commented as he moved from the tree. "Ready to learn about being a Fae, Ms. Goodfellow?"

Amity eagerly nodded. "Ready as I can be, Master Sly," she said with a respectful bow.

This made Sly chuckle. "Alright, let us begin with the basics," he said.

Acorn and Ghost sat to the side while Amity began her lesson with Sly.

"First off, show me your magic," Sly said. "I want to see what I am working with."

Amity nodded and demonstrated by drawing spell circles, which she used to cause the mud on the ground to wave around. She then showed some light magic, then a bit of fire, then ice, and finally, a little plant magic by sprouting some flowers. She then performed illusions by drawing her spell circles again, creating duplicates of herself.

"This is some of my basic magic," Amity explained. "Though I specialize in Abominations and illusions." She cast an illusion on her own face, creating a ghoulish look. "Bleh!"

"I see," Sly responded.

"I think my Fae abilities have given me a power boost sometimes, but it is not really something I control," Amity explained. "I've also flown and teleported a few times, but I struggle with it, especially the latter, which I can't do on command. Besides that, I have also been able to understand and talk to animals and Acorn and I think I have some empathy powers, like with the Slitherbeast and when I can see the auras of other people. I was also able to reverse some Fae magic and transform a doll back into a witch. But besides that, I wasn't able to consciously 'turn on' any of my abilities. They just came naturally."

"Well, that's good," Sly said. "The more naturally it comes to you, the better. Once you've mastered your abilities, it should become like second nature to you. And that's why today I think we could start working on helping you rely on your Fae magic more than your witch magic," Sly suggested. "Like for instance," he said as he pressed his hand on the ground, causing a bunch of flowers to bloom out from it. "Try doing that without spell circles."

Amity nodded as she raised her hands and focused on a spot on the ground. "Come on…" she said while trying to concentrate. She tried to make hand gestures to try to make it grow without drawing a spell circle. "It's… not… working…"

"Alright, I think you can stop now," Sly said. "I just wanted to see you make an effort. It's alright to not get it by the first try. Especially since you are more familiar with your witch magic than your Fae magic. And while you still should be able to use your witch magic, you don't have to be completely reliant on it either, which is why practice of your Fae abilities is important."

"Yeah," Amity said, determined. "I'm going to try to get better at this even if it takes me all day."

"Just be sure to not stress out," Sly advised. "Before we continue, how about we do some Fae 101. I am sure you have your questions."

"Of course! Luckily, I got my notebook and pen for this," Amity said while bringing out her Azura notebook and pen. "I'm ready to take notes, teach."

Sly nodded. "So, what are your questions? I will try to answer them to the best of my ability."

"Okay, so like… what would it take for me to be able to transform into a dragon like all the other Fae that I met? Oh, and how do the Fae travel between realms? How powerful could a Fae be, and how can I produce fairy dust? In that matter, what is the difference between fairy dust and pixie dust?" Amity asked. "And if Faes can take on different shapes or form…?"

"Slow down, one at a time," Sly told her. "Now, I can answer at least some of them… firstly, about traveling across realms."

"Yeah, how can you do that?" Amity asked. "I mean, witches and humans need to make a portal to travel between realms, but it kinda seems like that is something the Fae can do more easily."

"Well, that's because we can," Sly revealed. "Lots of magic creatures have some means to travel to other Realms, but the Fae have the ability to find and access… shortcuts between the realms. For example, a friend of yours managed to find a shortcut in the Second Star to the Right that brought him to Neverland. Once your senses have become more attuned, you may be able to find and access these shortcuts as well. We call this ability 'wandering'."

"Whoa…" Amity said while writing this down. "So you have your own lore terms… interesting…"

"As for the transforming to the dragon part, well I wouldn't count on it," Sly admitted. "That is a very advanced ability and I don't even think you would be able to shape-shift, considering that you're not a full Fae."

"Oh," Amity responded, sounding disappointed. "Because I did have some ideas about what I'd look like in my own dragon form…"

"Yeah, unfortunately your abilities will be more limited than a full Fae, but we'll be working on you doing things you normally can do, just without the spell circles as a crutch," Sly said. "We should also work more on your flying and teleportation abilities. Now with those abilities, they are affected by your emotions and your confidence. They are especially affected by strong emotions like happiness, fear, and anger. Your powers are the strongest when at the height of these emotions."

"Yeah… that makes sense," Amity said as she thought back to how she had unlocked her Fae abilities while angry at her mother and at Hunter, as well as how she unlocked her flying ability while being happy. She then remembered something else and she gave a worried frown. "Um… can I ask about the whole… immortality thing? Like, I know that Puck is much older than he looks, so does that mean that I'll end up being the same age forever… and that I might outlive all of my loved ones?"

"Nah, you're good," Sly reassured her. "You got nothing to worry about since you're only part-Fae, meaning that you should still age normally. Which also means that if you die, you wouldn't be able to reform. You would just… die."

"Oh, that's a relief," Amity replied. "Though… how would one become a full Fae?"

Sly sighed. "Well, to become a full Fae, usually one has to completely let go of their own mortality. It's why the Fae have a history of taking babies or children who are still going through their physical and emotional development. They are more impressionable. Usually, these changelings are taken to the Fae realm to be changed, the exposure to Fae food and magic altering their minds and bodies as they mature, which is kinda like what happened to your girlfriend. But you," he said as he pointed to Amity. "You're already quite developed from a maturity standpoint and you still have your attachments to your friends and to your family. You did change your last name to a Fae name, which did strengthen your connection with your Fae abilities. But as long as you're not willing to let go of your attachments, you won't become a full Fae before you reach adulthood."

"Won't be able to let go…" Amity repeated while taking notes. "But what happens if an adult has become part-Fae…?"

"Never been done before," Sly answered. "As far as I am aware, only children who have not fully developed or matured have been turned into Fae. However, you are a bit of a unique case. Not just because you are older, but because you already have magic. The Fae actually try to avoid giving Fae abilities to those who already have powers, since someone with both pre-existing abilities and Fae abilities can be very, very dangerous… take the Collector for example."

This piqued Amity's curiosity. "Wait… the Collector wasn't a Fae originally?"

Sly nodded. "The Collector was an already powerful being when Oberon found him and decided to free him from his prison. He believed that he could manipulate and control the child. Boy was he wrong… very wrong…"

"So if this Collector wasn't a Fae before, then what are they?" Acorn asked.

"A child of the stars, my pixie friend," Sly said. "You know, pixies are actually common companions for Faes."

"Really?" Amity asked. "I just thought I bonded well with Acorn."

"Nah, pixies are always drawn to Faes, they're kinda like groupies or roadies for the Fair Folk," Sly explained. "Some like to hang out with the Faes as either their admirers, friends, or to some Faes like the Unseelies, their servants."

"Well, I like to think of Acorn as my friend," Amity said, nodding to the pixie, who smiled back at her.

"Now then, how about we resume your training?" Sly asked.

"Ooh, can we do it through a montage?" Amity asked, sounding excited.

"Sure, that would help make things more time efficient," Sly replied while holding his electric guitar as he started to play some music.

[Music to "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor plays]

Amity walked through the forest as a cardboard target popped up in front of her. By instinct, she drew a spell circle to shoot at the target. Realizing what she did, she looked down in disappointment. As another target popped up, she drew a spell circle to burn it. She looked deflated at this.

Sly was at the back, playing his guitar as he sang. "Rising up, your training has begun! Take your time, just be patient!"

His musical notes that came out of his guitar wrapped around Amity's wrists when she looked at another target. Amity tried to draw a spell circle on instinct, but the notes prevented her from doing so and forced her to try to cast magic without spell circles.

"Go a distance, just gotta learn how to fly, just a girl with the will to survive!"

Later, Amity was doing push ups while Ghost sat on her back, Acorn counting how many Amity did. After that, Amity was trying to practice her flying, Sly flying up in the air as an example. Amity tried to focus on flying, but when she jumped up, she fell back down. When Sam tried to help Amity by lifting her off the ground, Sly looked at her disapprovingly.

"So many times, you'll get it right! Just gotta master teleporting!"

Later, Sly demonstrated his teleportation abilities while Amity tried to do the same. However, she failed and was only able to hop around instead.

Later, Amity was shown carrying buckets of water with a stick over her shoulders, marching up a hill while Sly flew over as he sang. "Don't lose your grip on what you're fighting for the might, to be the Fae as all will be surprised!"

Amity kept continuing with her target practice, still using spell circles which frustrated her as Sly tried to help guide her. "It's the- eye of the tiger, it's the will of the light! Rising up, to the challenge of our livelihood!"

However, when a Belos target popped up, Amity narrowed her eyes at the target and it seemed to burst into flames without her needing to cast a spell circle against it. She seemed surprised by this while Sly gave a proud nod and let Amity jump up in victory.

"And the last known survivor use their magic to fight! And they'll be watching where you stood~! With the eye of the tiger!"

Meanwhile in town, Camila was walking around by herself.

'It has been a while since I've been in a small town like this,' she thought to herself while looking around. Though compared to Gatesfield, Gravity Falls does have a much more homely feel, but a lot more quirky. 'Maybe I should stop at that Greasy's Diner,' she thought while spotting the restaurant.

As she went inside and took a seat in one of the booths, Lazy Susan noticed her.

"Oh hey, welcome to Greasy's Diner, where we serve the best coffee pancakes in town!" Lazy Susan greeted as she came over. "You're a new face. Are you a tourist? How are you liking the town?"

"The town seems nice, but I'm not actually a tourist… I am actually going to be living here in Gravity Falls with my daughter, though it's just me right now. My name is Camila Noceda, I'm Luz's biological mother."

"Luz… wait, you mean Marilyn's kid? You're her mom?!" Lazy Susan exclaimed.

"Well… her long-lost mother," Camila said while looking down, not wanting to go into the fact that she was dead for a long time. "I only just recently reunited with her after years apart and I was hoping for a fresh start with her here… though I already know she has a bit of a reputation around here."

"Yeah," Lazy Susan said as she gave Camila a sympathetic look. "Though I do feel sorry for her, having lost your daughter for such a long time… and that daughter happening to be Luz… no offense."

"None taken," Camila responded. "Though, I kinda blame Eda, or Marilyn as you know her, for enabling whatever mischief Luz brought to this town."

"So you plan on living in this town… and Luz is living here as well? For an extended amount of time? Like, not visiting?" Lazy Susan asked.

"Of course," Camila said with a nod. "She'll be living here in the fall."

"Oh, that's… great," Lazy Susan said, terrified of that prospect but trying to not show it. "I'm sure that it will be good for both of you. It sounds like you two need to catch up on a lot."

"Thank you, Susan," Camila responded kindly.

"So are you ready to order?" Lazy Susan asked her.

"Oh, well… I guess I'll try your coffee pancakes," Camila decided.

"Coming right up! Let me just head to the back," Susan replied as she left. Once she was out of sight, Susan grabbed her phone and called someone. "Tobey, I have a… story for you," Susan whispered with a scared look. "Luz Clawthorne will be living here at Gravity Falls…"

Later, Camila paid a visit to McGucket's junkyard, looking for the former scientist/current local town coot.

"This is the place," Camila said as she walked over to the home of McGucket. "I hope he's doing well," she said as she knocked on the door.

"Hi there!" McGucket shouted as he popped up from a trash can behind her, much to Camila's fright.

"Gah! Oh, oh Mr. McGucket," Camila said, taking a breather "I was just dropping by to visit you."

"Hey, I know you! You're the lady without a shadow!" McGucket shouted. "What in skerdibble brings you here?"

"Well, I just came to tell you that we were going to be neighbors, Mr. McGucket," Camila responded. "I am going to living in Gravity Falls, so I thought I would pay you a visit and see how you're doing."

"Oh I'm pretty much doing good, ma'am," McGucket responded. "In fact, I've been invited to become a guest speaker at a convention out of town!"

"Oh, really?" Camila asked him. "That sounds wonderful! What kind of convention is it?"

"A mad scientist convention!" he replied.

"A… what?" Camila asked him.

"Why don't you come in and I'll explain everythin'!" McGucket said as he led Camila inside his home.

Inside, Camila took a seat while McGucket set up a projector and began a slideshow.

"I was a bit of a mad scientist myself, take my robuts for example!" McGucket exclaimed as he showed her blueprints of a Gobblewonker robot and a Gideon robot. "I've made a lot of robuts in my day!" He changed the slide to one with a newspaper clipping of a mechanical pterodactyl breathing fire on a town while the headline read 'CHAOS!' "Like when my wife left me and I created a homicidal pterodactyl-tron, or when my pal Ernie didn't come to my retirement party." He changed the slide to a picture of a man named Ernie, followed by another slide of another newspaper showing a robot terrorizing a town with the headline: 'DISASTER!' "And so I constructed an eighty ton SHAME BOT THAT EXPLODED THE ENTIRE DOWNTOWN AREA!" he declared while maniacally laughing.

Camila looked disturbed by this, shocked by the past rampages committed by McGucket. "Did anyone get hurt…?"

"I don't think so… boy I don't know," McGucket said while scratching his head. "The memory is a bit fuzzy…"

Camila then noticed an invitation on a table. She got up and went over to look at it. "What is… LOVEMUFFIN?"

"Oh that stands for the League of Villainous Evildoers Maniacally United For Frightening Investments and Naughtiness," he answered "It's a mad scientist alliance. I heard another guest speaker is this blue-skinned scientist who's a Nobel Peace Prize winner and became a motivational speaker."

"I see…" Camila said with a concerned look.

"Hey, since you're here, would you like to see my Death Ray?" McGucket asked her, which concerned the woman even more.

After the visit to McGucket, Camila decided to pay a visit to Abigail. She knocked on the door to her motel room and a few moments later it was answered by Abigail.

"Camila," Abigail said with a smile.

"Hey, Gail, just thought I would stop by while making my rounds around town," Camila responded as she entered. "How's Clara doing?"

"Good, she's out in town with her friends," Abigail answered while leading Camila to where some boxes were. "I am glad that you showed up. Because I have something for you."

When Camila saw the boxes, her eyes widened. "Are those…" She went over to the boxes and knelt down, opening them. She gasped, covering her mouth as tears fell from her eyes…

"Yep, your stuff finally came in," Abigail said while Camila went through the box.

"Oh yes, this is…" Camila said as she pulled out some Cosmic Frontier stuff. "It's all here. The books and memorabilia me and Manny had," she said while going to another box, opening it and gasping again. "Yes, this is…" She pulled a baby book of Luz, along with other photos of baby Luz. "Luz's baby pictures, and her baby book." She fell silent when she saw something else. She began to pull out framed photos of Manny, including one of them at a convention back when they were in college and one of their wedding…

Despite her tears, Camila smiled, these photos bringing back so many memories. She looked through another box and found a photo book that she opened up, seeing that it contained photos of her extended family. She saw a bunch of faces she hadn't seen in years such as her parents and her cousins from Rhode island, including one photo of a kid cousin of Camila's who was a little Dominican-American girl with light brown skin, dark-brown pixie cut hair, blue eyes, and a blue hoodie and jeans. She was seen hugging the young adult Camila.

"My… family," Camila said. "They must have been devastated by my death…"

"They were," Abigail admitted. "I was in touch with them for a while, particularly your cousin Lois. When Luz went missing, she helped me in my efforts to try and find her, though obviously to no avail."

"Have you… told her or any of my family about us?" Camila asked, turning to Abigail.

Abigail sighed and shook her head. "No, I haven't told them about you or Luz yet, Cam. One, because it would be difficult to explain how you came back, and second, well, I thought that you would want to see them yourself when you were ready."

"Oh…" Camila said, still looking at the photo of her and Lois. "You are right. I would like to see them again… in time. Being with Luz was my priority, but it would be nice to see the rest of my family and Manny's again. Lois must be all grown up now…"

"I think she's currently living in New York City after getting a job as a reporter," Abigail mentioned.

"Of course, she was always passionate about journalism," Camila mentioned with a smile. "I've missed so much over the years…" She continued to look through the photos, finding one of her and Manny hanging out with Abigail and her husband Frank. A realization suddenly struck her. "By the way… how is Frank?" she asked Abigail, who froze. "I don't recall you mentioning him at all since our reunion…"

Abigail was silent for the moment as she looked down at the ground. "Me and Frank… are having problems."

"Problems?" Camila asked her, concerned.

"Yeah… marriage problems," she admitted. "I didn't want to bring it up around Clara, but me and Frank have had problems for a long time, even if Frank refuses to acknowledge that we had problems… or he downplays them."

"Oh, I am sorry to hear this, Gail," Camila said as she went to sit beside Abigail. "What… what do you think you are going to do?"

Abigail sighed. "I don't know," she confessed. "And I don't know if I'm ready to have that talk with Clara."

Camila nodded. "What about… the rest of your family?" she asked. "Your cousins? Your parents?"

Abigail winced slightly. "My parents… died in an accident and I haven't spoken to the rest of the Gates family in years, though I imagine they don't think very highly of me right now…" She decided to quickly change the subject. "I think we could get in contact with your family once you're set up here in Gravity Falls. And I also heard from the agents, who said they found a home for you to stay in."

"Oh, really?" Camila said with a smile. "That's wonderful, Gail! Thank you, I'll get in contact with them right away."

Soon Camila was with Dipper, meeting up with Agent Powers as they checked out a house that had been found for Camila.

"Nobody has lived here for years," Powers explained as he showed Camila a regular-looking white house with a blue roof, three windows on the top floor, a porch, and a garage. The house looked old with some stains on the walls and a lawn of overgrown uncut grass, plus a broken mailbox. "Previous owners were an old couple who died back in the nineties. They used to own an old mom-and-pop convenience store."

"What happened to them?" Camila asked, curious.

"Well, Ma and Pa Duskerton had a problem with unruly teenagers and tried to ban them," Dipper explained. "The nineties-teens retaliated with a new-age rap song that shocked them so much, the couple were both instantly stricken with double heart attacks, killing them on the spot."

Camila looked horrified. "Good God!"

"Yeah… Grunkle Stan knew them before they died, said they were good people," Dipper responded. "I met them as well and they are nice… if you aren't a teenager."

"Wait, you met them?" Camila asked.

"Well, their ghosts," Dipper clarified. "But don't worry. It is their convenience store, which is still closed to this day, that is haunted, not their house."

"Oh… that is a relief," Camila said as she looked toward the house and took a deep breath. "Alright, let's go on."

Camila went inside and saw that the building was mostly empty besides the dust-covered furniture in the living room. She took a look around, taking notes on the interior while Powers and Dipper joined her.

"I will admit, this could use some sprucing up," Camila said while moving to the kitchen, seeing a dishwasher as well as a microwave installed over an oven. She checked out the first floor bathroom, which was between the kitchen and the tv room, and the porch.

She then headed upstairs, checking out the master bedroom, four other smaller rooms, and a bathroom. "Luz could sleep up here," she commented. "What else is there?"

"There's a basement," Powers mentioned.

They headed down to the basement, which was completely empty but offered plenty of space.

"Yeah, this works really well," Camila said while looking around. "I wonder if I can make this a game room… or maybe Luz would choose to sleep down here."

"So what do you think, Mrs. Noceda?" Powers asked her.

"I… I think I'll like it here," Camila said while turning to the agent. "It's perfect. Thank you, Agent Powers."

Powers smiled with a nod. "No problem, ma'am."

After deciding she would move into the house, Camila called Abigail who came over with Clara, both of them bringing Camila the boxes of her recovered stuff. Dipper also helped bring these boxes in.

"Thank you for bringing all my stuff here, Gail, Clara," Camila said as she set a box down.

"It's no problem, Camila," Clara replied. "I'm glad that you've found a new home for you and Luz."

"Yeah, and it's going to be nice having Luz around here more," Dipper commented.

"Yeah, I bet…" Clara said while looking down. She wondered about her current living situation. Gatesfield was still under investigation. She didn't know when she would be able to return home or even if she would be able to return home.

Abigail noticed this and spoke up. "By the way, Clara," she said. "I have been thinking that… maybe we should go find a more permanent home in Gravity Falls for us to live in, since I think it is pretty obvious we are here for the long run."

Clara turned to her mom. "R-Really? So like, we'll live here with Luz and Camila? What about dad, have you talked to him about it?"

Abigail paused. "I'll… talk to your father about it eventually. But I do think that staying here has been good for both of us," she said. "And I think that maybe we should stay here… for good, give ourselves a fresh slate."

"I… would like that," Clara admitted with a smile. "Well, as long as my friends stay here as well. Since I want to be close to both them and Luz."

"I think that can be arranged," Abigail replied. "Though their folks would need to be relocated…"

Clearly, this was not the end of this discussion. A lot would have to be worked out. But for now, both Abigail and Clara were hopeful for the future. And so was Camila.

Later, the house now had a 'sold' sign that Camila was hammering in the front yard. She then heard her name called.

"Camila!" Amity spoke up as she, Ghost, and Acorn came over to Camila. "Wow. Is this… the place you and Luz will be living in?"

"Yes, Amity," Camila responded with a smile. "Though it will need some fixing up before Luz comes. But after that, this will be the new Noceda home."

"That's great!" Amity said in excitement. "Like… you and Luz will finally have your own home here, and… well…"

"Mija?" Camila spoke up to her.

"Well, I was just thinking… would it be alright… if I ended up staying with you and Luz?" Amity asked her. "It's just… I have been hoping to spend more time with Luz in the Human Realm after everything we've been through. I mean, with all the things that happened this summer, we could use a break."

"Amity, you don't have to ask," Camila said, patting her shoulder. "I would love for you to live with us."

Amity's eyes widened. "R-Really?"

"Of course," Camila said as she hugged her, "After all, you're a part of this family too."

Amity smiled and hugged Camila back. "Gracias, Señora Noceda," she told her in Spanish.

"Está bien, Amity," Camila responded while Acorn and Ghost looked at the home.

"Huh, with a little sprucing up, this place would look nice," Acorn said. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind living here."

"I wonder if there's any rats I can eat," Ghost wondered out loud with a grin.

The next day, there was an RV and a van parked outside of the motel where the Gatesfield residents lived. Ford, Soos, Abigail, and Nora were helping get the RV set up while Amity, Camila, the Gatesfield teens, and the Gravity Falls kids along with Durland and Blubs were standing around.

"Well this old thing should be up and ready," Ford said, patting the side of the RV. "Should be ready for your trip around Oregon."

"Thanks for suggesting this trip outside town, Ford," Abigail told him.

"Yeah, Grunkle Ford, this was a neat idea," Dipper commented. "Though… are you sure you can't come."

Ford shook his head. "I have important work with the agents," he said, not wanting to reveal that work was why he wanted to get the kids out of Gravity Falls for a few days, just in case things went poorly. "But I figured you kids could use a day or two on the road."

"Where will we be going?" Masha asked as Dipper pulled out a map.

"Well, I thought we could stop by every tourist trap along the Redwood Highway," Dipper explained. "You know, every year the Mystery Shack would get pranked by these rival roadside attractions. Last year, they taped Soos to the ceiling."

"It was a fun 78 hours," Soos replied while helping set up the RV.

"Me and Stan were actually planning a revenge trip this year," Dipper admitted. "We were going to prank all of these tourist traps back… but with the Mystery Shack closed and Stan arrested, I think we could just take in the sights."

"Bow wow! Time to let the road dogs bark!" Grenda declared, sounding excited along with Candy and Pacifica.

"That is us. We are the road dogs," Candy added.

"Thanks for letting us come along for the road trip, Dipper," Pacifica told him. "I have never been on a road trip before, so this will be nice."

"Hey, what are friends for, right?" Dipper pointed out with a smile. "Though you should also thank Mrs. Gates and Mrs. Gordon, since they're both in charge and are going to be driving us."

"Wait, but what about those Archangel guys?" Gus G asked in concern. "Is it safe to leave town with them still out there?"

"Yeah, we should be worried about that," Clara added.

"Not to worry, I've already talked it over with the agents," Abigail reassured them. "They said it was okay, and if we run into trouble… well, I can take care of it." She patted a purse she had with her before checking to make sure her handgun was still in it.

"Well, that's good enough for me," Masha said as she saw Vee coming over. "Hey Vee, so you're coming with us?"

"Yeah, my dads said that it was okay to come with you guys," Vee replied. "They agreed that I should take this opportunity to meet new people and see more of the Human Realm outside of Gravity Falls. And I will admit, I am pretty curious." She turned to Blubs and Durland, who waved at her.

"Good luck out there, Vee!" Durland said.

"And be sure to listen to Mrs. Gates and Mrs. Gordon," Blubs reminded her.

"I will!" Vee replied.

Clara turned to Camila and Amity. "You two will be coming along, right?" she asked hopefully.

"Of course," Camila replied. "I already talked about it with your mother." She turned to her unofficial daughter-in-law. "What about you, Amity?"

"Well, I would love to come along," Amity admitted. "But… I am worried that it might interrupt my training with Sly."

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that," Sly said after walking out from behind the van.

"Wha… where did you come from?!" Nora asked in surprise.

"I was just passing through," Sly replied casually. "And I don't mind if you go, Amity. These are your friends and family. Go enjoy some time with them. We will have plenty of time to practice when you get back."

Amity smiled. "Thank you, Sly. And I'll be sure to practice my powers during the trip."

"Hey, just remember to have fun," Sly told her.

Soon everyone began to get into their vehicles, Rudo lifting his fists up. "Yeah! Road trip!" he said before bumping his head. "Ow!"

"Watch your head, Rudo," Dana said as they both got into the van along with Masha, Gus G, and Vee with Nora at the wheel. Meanwhile, Abigail took the RV along with Camila, Clara, Amity, Dipper, Candy, Grenda, Pacifica, Ghost and Acorn.

As the two vehicles drove off, their departure was watched by Blubs, Durland, Ford, Soos, and Sly, all of them waving at the departing van and RV.

"Oh, I hope she'll be okay," a worried Durland told Blubs.

"Don't worry, Vee is in good hands," Blubs pointed out. "She'll be back in a few days and will tell us all about her trip."

"Have a good time, dudes!" Soos said before turning to Sly. "So are you like a magic musician? A magician musician? A musigician?"

Back at the Boiling Isles, Luz and Eda landed outside of Hexside along with Willow, the three having just come from visiting Bump's home.

"Hey, there's Gus," Willow said, pointing to Gus who was waiting for them by the steps outside the front entrance.

"Luz, Eda!" Gus waved at them while behind him was Simon, who was also waiting.

"Hey G-Man, and Simon," Luz said as she walked over. "What's up?"

"I'm gonna need to ask a favor from you and Eda," Gus explained.

"Alright, but what about Simon?" Luz asked, pointing to Simon.

"I'm here for Willow," Simon explained. "I, uh, also have a favor to ask."

Willow gave him a nod. "Alright, what do you need, Si?" she asked. As she and Simon talked, Gus led Eda and Luz away so they could talk in private.

"Alright, what is it that you need, Gus?" Eda asked once they were a safe distance away.

"Well… I wish to borrow your… key," Gus whispered.

The two immediately knew what he meant.

"You want the key, Gus? For what reason?" Eda asked him.

"Yeah, you know we have to be careful with who we lend it to, Gus," Luz told him..

"I know, but this is important," Gus said. "Me and Eve were planning to head to the Human Realm so that we can get something from Fazio's place in Last Vegans. I… want to try to get in contact with Vaggie in the spirit realm, and Eve's going to help me."

Luz and Eda gave Gus sympathetic looks before they nodded at each other and turned back to Gus. "Alright, Gus, we'll lend you the key," Luz told him.

"Just don't lose it," Eda said while taking the key out of her hair and handing it to Gus. "And bring it back to the Owl House once you are done with it. I don't know how long you and Eve will be gone, but there is a chance me and Luz won't be at the Owl House when you get back, depending on how long this IFWOT after school is."

"Yeah, we already dropped Kay off with Tabrella and her family for the day because of this," Luz mentioned.

"Tabrella?" Gus asked her.

"A girl from St. Epiderm that Amity met, she and Tabrella were hoping to set up a playdate between Kay and Tabrella's baby sister, but that was before the Brawl," Luz explained. "However, we talked things out with her and Tabrella agreed to watch Kay over for us. We weren't sure about leaving her with the scouts again."

"That's good for Kay." Gus replied with a nod before looking at the key. "And I promise to keep this safe for you guys."

"We know," Eda said, patting Gus's head. "But please keep yourself and Eve safe as well, alright?" They then heard the bell scream. "Well, better get you two to class."

Back in the Human Realm, the first stop of the road trip was Granny Sweetkin's Yarnball. The teens, plus Ghost, looked up in awe at the giant yarnball up in display.

"What kind of growth magic did she make this yawn ball out of?" Amity wondered out loud.

"S'not magic, just a bunch of yarn string rolled around together," Masha said while snapping a picture.

"Yeah, though be careful around here," Dipper warned. "She is the most black-hearted proprietor in all of Oregon. On two non-consecutive occasions, she even lit Stan's car on fire."

"What? But she looks like a sweet old lady," Rudo said while pointing at the large sign.

"Yeah, too sweet…" Pacifica noted while looking up the sign.

A bit later, Amity was trying to find Ghost after her cat Palisman had wandered off. She spotted Vee by herself and was surprised to see the basilisk approaching a tourist girl with some ice cream.

"Uh hey, come here often?" Vee asked awkwardly.

"No, I'm a tourist," the girl responded.

"Heh, you're funny, like a comedian… I mean, not a comedian. I mean, you're not, not funny," Vee stammered before she shook her head. "Okay, let me start over. I'm Five. I mean, Vee!" she said with her hand up.

"Um, okay, weirdo," the ice cream girl said as she walked away, leaving Vee deflated.

"Aw crap," Vee said as she looked down, feeling like she messed up.

"Vee?" spoke up Amity, who walked over to her. "What was… that all about?"

"Oh, hey Amity," Vee replied. "You saw that, didn't you?"

Amity nodded and pulled her aside. "So what's this about?"

"Well… when I saw you and Luz getting married, it made me realize that… I want to get a girlfriend," Vee admitted. "And I thought that I could use this trip to practice talking to girls. But you saw how I did it. I stammer more than a Skin Badger."

"Oh Vee," Amity said as she patted the disguised basilisk's back. "You should have gone to me. What you need is someone to help you give some tips and pointers about the subject of talking to girls."

"You… you'll help me?" Vee asked her.

"Of course," Amity responded. "After all, what are friends for?"

Vee smiled at this. "Thanks, Amity."

Elsewhere, some of the kids were leaving the gift shop with some yawn products. "Check this out, they have finger kittens," Candy said as she showed off her fingers, which were covered in crafted cat-tips. "Meow!"

"You look adorable, Candy," Dipper commented, before realizing what he had said. "Uh, I mean, they look adorable!" Both he and Candy blushed and looked away from each other. Thankfully, this awkward moment was soon interrupted.

"Stan's boy?" someone asked.

Dipper turned and saw an elderly lady with gray hair in a bun, a light blue dress with a white collar, cuffs and brown shoes. "Is that you, right? Stanford's little sonny?"

"Granny Sweetkins?" Dipper asked. "Yeah, that's me."

"Oh I thought I recognized you," she said calmly. "I heard the rumors that Stan has been arrested. Is this true?"

Dipper gave her a nod. "Yes, ma'am. Stan got arrested a few weeks ago."

"Oh dear," she said, sounding sympathetic. "Now that's just… just… terrific! YAHAHAHAHAHA!" she laughed mockingly, much to the shock of the others. "Serves that no-good great-uncle of yours right!"

Dipper narrowed his eyes at her, while Candy rushed to his defense. "Hey, leave him alone!" she shouted as she, Pacifica, and Grenda glared at the old lady.

"Yeah, where do you get off?!" Masha asked as she, along with her friends, glared at the old woman.

"That charlatan and his brat stole my tourists with their Mystery Shack! But now with Pines out of the way, I've been living large!" Sweetkin declared, continuing to laugh at Dipper's misfortune.

"Hey, you listen right up," Nora said as she walked over to confront her. Having overheard this, Nora had an angry look. "There is no reason for you to pick on a child like that! Why don't you act your age?" she told off Sweetkin… who responded by lifting up a huge knitting needle up in front of Nora, making her back away. "Whoa!"

"Now why don't you take a few steps back!" Sweetkin said while swinging her needle. "I am not afraid of using this thing!"

However, during all of this, Ghost had dug herself into the giant yarn ball. She popped her head out and managed to squeeze herself out of the yarn ball, but in the process she caused it to come loose and start to roll away.

Granny Sweetkin noticed her giant yarn ball rolling away. "My yawn ball!" she shouted while running to chase after her yarn ball. "Come back here!"

"...Kids, let's get back in the van and RV!" Nora said as they hurried to the parking lot.

Amity and Vee headed to the RV, where they saw everyone getting into their vehicles. Amity stopped Clara. "Say, Clara, um Vee said that she needs my help with something, so why don't you and Vee switch ratworms, I mean, vehicles, for now?"

"Uh…" Clara saw Masha getting into the van along with Nora's group. She turned to Amity. "Right, of course! I'll be happy to take Vee's place in the van. Thanks, Amity!" she said as she headed to Nora's van.

"No problem!" Amity responded while she and Vee hurried into the RV. Camila held onto Ghost while getting back in the RV.

The vehicles drove off, Granny Sweetkins still chasing her yarn ball in the distance…

Meanwhile, Gus and Eve were in the Human Realm, specifically in Las Vegas. As Gus led the way, Eve looked around at the city of vice.

"Wow… so this is Last Vegans," Eve commented in awe. "It is a Human Realm wonder!"

"Eh, it's not that different from Hell," Gus responded before spotting a certain truck in front of and apartment complex. "This is the place," he said with a sigh.

"Are you okay, Gus?" Eve asked him.

"I'm… I'm good," Gus answered as he composed himself. "Come on. Let's see if he's home."

The two entered the apartment complex, Gus remembering which door was Fazio's. When he knocked on it, he heard someone shout from inside. "Go away! I said I'll have the rent ready!"

"Fazio, it's me! Gus!" Gus responded.

"Gus?" Fazio asked from inside. After some sounds of stumbling, Fazio opened the door, looking like he had just gotten out of bed. "Gus? Oh Copperfield, long time, no see…" he said, sounding excited but Gus couldn't help but notice that he looked… tired.

"Hey Faz, nice to see you again too," Gus replied. "Um, you remember Eve, right?"

"Hey, sir," Eve said, waving to him.

"Yeah, you're one of his friends," Fazio said, nodding.

"Can we come in?" Gus asked him.

"Sure, sure you two can come in," Fazio said as he invited them into his apartment.

Once they entered, Gus looked around and realized that it was a lot more messy than it was the last time he was here. Dirty dishes were left in the sink or other surfaces, dirty laundry was on the floor, and old food was left to rot.

"Sorry that I didn't have the place cleaned, I sorta fell behind," Fazio said as he took a seat at a table, Gus and Eve doing the same.

"Um, are you alright, sir?" Eve asked him, concerned..

"I'm… I've seen better days," Fazio admitted. "But it's… it's really good to see you again, Gus. I've missed you."

Gus also looked concerned for Fazio. "I've missed you too, Fazio. What have you been up to since you left Gravity Falls?"

"Well… things have been pretty rough for me since Vaggie's death," Fazio admitted with a sigh. "I did manage to arrange a small funeral for her. Not a lot of people showed up, but it was a funeral nonetheless." He hesitated slightly before continuing. "There was this… one fella that showed up at her funeral and surprised me. He said he was… Vagatha's dad."

This shocked Gus. "Her… dad showed up?" he asked and Fazio nodded. "From what she told me, they didn't have a good relationship."

"Hmm, I had no idea about that," Fazio admitted. "Vaggie never talked about him or her past, not that I can blame her. I don't even know how he found out that Vaggie was dead, since I didn't tell him. But he did show up. Didn't say much though." He paused for a moment. "I also gave Vaggie's belongings to him."

"What?!" Gus stood up in shock, looking upset. "Oh man…"

"Gus," Eve tried to reassure him, reaching for Gus.

"It's not alright!" Gus suddenly burst before he calmed himself down. "Sorry," he said quietly while Fazio looked at him in concern.

"Are you alright, kid?" Fazio asked him, frowning.

"I'm sorry, Fazio, it's just… I came here because I was hoping to find some of Vaggie's personal belongings, anything of value to her. But now we have to track down her dad…" He looked up at Fazio. "Unless you have a way to contact him or anything?"

"No," Fazio admitted. "When I gave him her stuff, he just took off and disappeared. Giving him the stuff at the time seemed like the right thing to do at the time…" He looked back at Gus, who appeared defeated. Fazio frowned before remembering something. "However, though he took off, there was one thing that got left behind… her bow."

Gus lifted his head up. "Her bow? Do you still have it?"

"Yeah," Fazio said while getting up. He walked over to a drawer, opened it, and pulled out a bow that Vaggie had worn. "I wasn't sure what to do with it though. I still don't."

"Oh this is great! Thanks, Fazio!" Gus told him as he got up and went to hug Fazio.

Fazio was surprised by the hug, but he managed to pat Gus's back. "Hey, it's no problem, Gus," he told him. "But, uh, what do you need Vaggie's bow for?"

"Well, the reason why I need it… we're going to have a séance," Gus explained to him, much to Fazio's shock. "We're going to reach out to Vaggie in the afterlife."

"WHAT?!" he shouted, which could be heard outside of the apartment.

Meanwhile, the road trippers were enjoying the next tourist attraction: Upsidedown Town.

"Whoa, this place is upside down!" Rudo exclaimed.

"This is getting a little trippy," Gus G. replied as he and the other teens and tweens walked around upside down thanks to wearing shoes with velcro on the bottom, which kept them from falling off the velcro carpeting laced floors (technically the ceiling) of the attraction.

"Yeah. Hey Grenda, take a picture of me with my hair up!" Pacifica said as Grenda snapped a photo of Pacifica while trying not to drop the phone.

Candy, also upside down, took notice of Dipper when he came in along with Vee. While Vee went to talk to a girl, Dipper just looked down (or up) with his hands in his jacket. Grenda and Pacifica took notice of this as well.

"Dipper's been awfully quiet since the last stop," Candy said.

"Yeah, I hope he's alright," Grenda replied.

"We should go over and check up on him," Pacifica suggested.

Candy thought about it. "Maybe… only I should go talk to him. Let me handle this."

Grenda and Pacifica shared a look… and a smile. "Sure," Pacifica said. "Go and handle it."

Candy walked over to Dipper, who was staring blankly at the upside down TV. "Hey Dipper, are you alright?" Candy asked him.

"Oh, Candy," Dipper said, noticing her. "I'm uh… doing well."

"Really?" Candy asked, unconvinced. "Come on, Dipper. I know that look. You're not letting what that mean granny said get to you, aren't you?"

Dipper shifted his eyes, looking away. "I just… can't stop thinking about Stan right now. He should be here, enjoying the road trip with us and vandalizing these roadside attractions… but he isn't here. And neither is Mabel. It just… isn't fair."

"I know," Candy said sadly. "I miss them too, Dipper. We all do. But we shouldn't let their absence keep us from having a good time. Do you think Stan or Mabel would want you to stay mopey?"

"No…" Dipper admitted. "But how do I just… not think about them and how much I miss them?"

"Hmm, that is hard," Candy considered. "So… how about I help you? I can keep your mind off of Stan and Mabel by being your tourist trap buddy and hanging out with you for the rest of the day."

This offer surprised Dipper. "R-Really? I mean, what about Grenda and Pacifica?"

"They won't mind if I hang out with you," Candy pointed out. "They would want you to focus on having a good time as well and… I can help you with that. If that's alright with you?"

"I… I would like that," Dipper responded, blushing slightly.

"Great! I mean, I promise to help you enjoy yourself, Dipper," Candy said while patting his back. "Cause you deserve to have some fun."

Meanwhile, Clara took a photo of Abigail and Camila upside down. "Having fun, Camila?" Abigail asked her.

"Yeah, well compared to stuff at the Isles, this is quite mundane… and even less nauseating," Camila admitted.

Clara smiled before she heard laughter. She turned around and noticed Vee talking with a girl and holding her cellphone. 'Huh? What's Vee doing? Making a friend?' she thought while sneaking over to overhear their conversation.

"Wow, thanks for taking my picture, Vee," the girl spoke to her. "You're pretty fun."

"Anytime, Emma Sue," Vee replied. "It was nice talking to you."

"Emma, come on!" shouted Emma Sue's father. "We have to get to Canada before your mother gives birth!" He pointed to his pregnant wife.

"Uh…" Vee wanted to ask.

"It's a long story," Emma Sue replied.

"Maybe you could tell me sometime," Vee offered.

"Hmm… okay! Here's my email address," Emma Sue said as she wrote on Vee's hand. "Write me and I'll tell you all about it," she said as she walked away.

"Wow… that girl gave me her email, and not out of pity," Vee said in awe. "I think I'm getting better at this!" She then turned around, noticing Clara. "Oh, hey Clara, enjoying being upside down?"

"Uh, yeah," Clara replied. "What about you?"

"Of course, and I think I've made a new friend," Vee said showing the email address. "Maybe I can have Candy or my dads help me set up an email address."

"Really? That's great," Clara replied as the two headed over to the gift shop, only to step off the velcro and fall. "WAH!" they screamed as they hit the ceiling/floor. Clara got up. "I'm okay… Vee, are you okay?"

"Oh, don't worry, I'm better than okay," Vee replied as she got up, seeing Pacifica. "Hey Paz, having a good time?" she pointed as she walked past the others. "There's my Grenda. Candy, looking great, looking great, are those new glasses? Dipper, my man!" she said, nudging Dipper's arm. "Double-G, Rudy and Danalana, we should hang sometime!"

"Wow, Vee seems more confident today, doesn't she?" Gus G pointed out.

"Yeah, it may be the blood pooling in my head, but Vee seems different," a still upside down Grenda said as she groaned while her forehead turned purple.

"Whaddup Mash, and A.G., see ya at the RV!" Vee told while heading out the door.

"Huh, looks like Vee had a good time," Masha commented.

"Yeah, I think she did," Amity replied with a smile.

"Alright, is everyone ready? Been to the restroom?" Nora asked as they got ready to leave. Everyone nodded. "Great! Next stop, Log Land!" she said as she along with Abigail and Camila led everyone to the vehicles.

"Wait for us! Grenda may have passed out!" Pacifica said while she helped Grenda up, Amity going back to help get Grenda to the RV.

In the RV, Vee and Amity chatted with each other while in their seats.

"And then, she gave me her email," Vee said while showing it to Amity. "Think I should email her back?"

"Hmm, I think you should," Amity encouraged. "Well, when you get a d-mail."

"You mean, email?" Vee pointed out.

"Right," Amity said. "That too."

Vee nodded, but then she paused, considering something. "Though… is there any chance this might backfire on me? I mean, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. What if I end up leading anyone on…"

"Vee, that's not what you're doing at all," Amity reassured her. "You're just practicing your small talk and being friendly. There is an obvious huge difference between that and becoming a pick-up artist. You're a socially awkward person trying to become more comfortable socializing with girls and people in general for when you do want to ask someone out. Is that something to be ashamed of?"

"Speaking from a guy whose great-uncle is a pick-up artist, you're doing fine," Dipper joined in. "Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear your conversation."

"It's fine, we were just talking about how I want to practice talking to girls," Vee replied. "Amity gave me some tips about being more confident and personable and I think they worked. Do you think that I'm doing good?"

"Totally, Vee," Dipper reassured her. "You're just trying to get out of your shell… or would skin be a more accurate term? Do basilisks shed skin?"

Vee blushed hard at this question while Amity got out a notepad and wrote the email Vee had written on her hand. She tore out the page and handed it to Vee. "Here. At the very least, there is a chance you made a new friend today. And you'll get even more chances to practice later."

Vee nodded and smiled while looking at the email. "Yeah…"

The next roadside attraction was Log Land, a log-themed amusement park. Dipper and Candy went on the log flume ride together, Candy holding onto Dipper as they went down the drop in their log. Grenda and Pacifica were on the log behind them, both of them screaming while Pacifica covered her eyes.

While everyone was looking around the Log Land gift shop, Vee was talking to a girl with a log hat. Vee offered her a log-on-a-stick, the two talking and laughing. Clara noticed this, growing suspicious while Amity looked at her own log on a stick. She did a twirl with her finger around it, causing the log to bloom into a bush of flowers, surprising her.

Next stop was the Corn Maze. While everyone tried to find their way out of the maze, Dipper and Candy still hanging out together, Vee was talking to a girl in the middle of the maze, the girl looking very interested in what Vee was saying while Clara watched them with a confused look. Behind them, Rudo came out of the corn, looked around, and walked into another row of corn.

Before everyone left, Amity had to go back in and come out with Rudo, who had gotten himself lost in the Corn Maze. Despite this, everyone was having a good time as their day started to come to a close…

Meanwhile in Vegas, Gus and Eve had set up for their séance at Fazio's place after cleaning up his living room.

"Thanks for helping clean up the place, kids," Fazio told them.

"It's no problem, Faz," Gus responded. He turned to Eve. "Are we ready to begin?"

Eve finished lighting the candles as she had the crystal ball set up. "Yep, everything should be in order."

"So uh, how does this work again?" Fazio asked.

"Well, with this makeshift voodoo doll I've made and tied with Vaggie's bow, I should be able to bring her spirit into this realm for a limited time," Eve said while holding up the voodoo doll. "It'll give you enough time to say what you need to her."

"We just need to hold hands, let the candles and sage burn, and this incantation circle will help us speak to the dead," Gus said.

"That's right, Gus," Eve responded. "Huh, you know more about Oracle Magic than I thought…"

"Well, it's more like a hobby," Gus admitted. "Now then… let's get started."

The three gathered in a circle, the room being dark with the candles being the only light. As Eve placed the voodoo doll and bow in the circle, she, Gus and Fazio held hands, closing their eyes as Eve hummed. She hummed for quite a while, the crystal ball glowing purple.

"Oh the spirits from the great beyond!" Eve declared. "We have conducted this séance to search for the human soul named Vagatha in the spirit realm! Through the object of her bow, help us spirit to find her soul for us to reach out and contact!"

The crystal ball glowed in a blue light as it spoke up. "One moment while we look for Vagatha," the crystal ball spoke in an otherworldly voice, followed by show tune music playing.

After waiting, the crystal ball suddenly glowed white. The candles died out as the voodoo doll levitated in the air. Suddenly, it glowed white as a flash of bright light engulfed the room. They closed their eyes and when they reopened them, they saw the light taking the form of a woman with long hair that reached her back and covered her left eye, a bow placed on her head. She wore a white gown, Gus and Fazio instantly recognizing the woman… as Vaggie.

She opened her eye and seemed surprised. "What… where am I?!" she asked, looking around in a panic until she saw Gus. "G-Gus? Is that you?!"

"Vaggie!" Gus rose up, as did Fazio. Both were in tears.

"Vagatha…" Fazio stammered, looking at her in awe.

"Gus… oh my god, I was so worried for you!" Vaggie flew to hug Gus, who hugged her back. "I thought that I had failed… failed to protect you from that creep that killed me."

"No, you didn't fail, Vaggie," Gus reassured her, letting her go as he looked up at her. "I did make it home safe. All thanks to you and Fazio. But as for your killer… I did encounter him…"

Vaggie's eye widened. "Are you alright? He didn't hurt you, did he?"

"Tried to, but I fought him off," Gus responded while looking guilty. "I… I avenged your death. Rather, I ended up killing him by accident, which I'm not proud of. I was so angry, I wanted him to pay for what he did to you, so I used my powers on him… and I caused him to have a heart attack as a result."

"Gus…" Fazio said in saddened shock, since this was the first time he was hearing this.

"It's my fault that he's dead," Gus said while looking at the ground. "And… it is my fault that you're dead. If you never met me, you would be-"

"Gus, listen to me," Vaggie said as she lifted his chin up. "I need you to understand this: I don't blame you. At all. You were not the one who killed me and I chose to prioritize your safety over my own by not telling him what I knew. And you're safe now, which is the only thing that I regretted: not getting confirmation that you're still here," she said while wiping away his tears. "All that matters to me is that you're alive."

He gave Vaggie a smile and hugged her again. "I'm so glad I get to see you again, Vaggie. The real you. I just wish it was under better circumstances…"

"I know," Vaggie responded with a sad smile while turning to Fazio. "Faz… thank you for keeping Gus safe, and making sure he returned home safe and sound."

"It's… no problem, Vaggie," Fazio said, looking saddened. "I… I should've brought you along with me and the kid. If I had known those bastards would have you killed for protecting Gus, I would've brought you along, and… Christ, it should've been me."

"Faz, don't say that," Vaggie told him, her tone dead serious.

"You still had your whole life ahead of you, Vags, while I'm just a worthless middle-aged magician who couldn't even protect his friend!" Fazio cried while wiping his eyes. "You… I've always noticed how much pain you were in while living here. I tried to cheer you up with my magic and I know you weren't impressed, but you stuck around. Then that kid showed up and while you were with him, I saw you smiling. Like for the first time since we've met, you were smiling." He looked down at the floor. "I know I'm a failure of a magician… but I'm also a failure as a friend. I failed you, Vags."

"Faz," Vaggie spoke up, floating to him "I'll admit, while you may not have been the best magician… you have always been a good friend and a better person than a magician."

"You… you think I am?" Fazio sniffed.

"Of course, you're one the best people I've known," Vaggie responded with a smile. "So don't be blaming yourself, alright? You didn't fail me. And you were a good friend. Thank you for everything you did for me… and for Gus."

Fazio wiped away his tears. "You're welcome, Vaggie." He then remembered something. "Oh and, one thing I should mention… during your funeral, your dad showed up."

This shocked Vaggie. "He… he did?"

"Yeah," he responded, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "I ended up giving your things away to him. He barely said a word and then he just… left."

"Oh," Vaggie said before falling silent for a moment. She looked down at the ground. "I'm surprised he knew that I died… or where I was. But even if he did care enough to show up… it doesn't really change anything between me and him." She looked back up at Fazio. "And don't worry about giving my things to him, Faz. I know you were just trying to make the right call."

Gus and Fazio both gave understanding looks, especially Gus who knew what her relationship with her dad was like. Vaggie then noticed Eve. "Um… I'm sorry, do I know you?"

"Oh, this is Eve, from the Demon Realm. She also got stuck here like me and my friends did. She's an oracle witch and helped set up this séance," Gus replied while Eve waved.

"Hi, nice to meet you," Eve said to Vaggie.

"Maybe I should get you up to speed about what happened after I left…" Gus said as he began to tell Vaggie about what he had been through.

Sometime later, Gus had managed to tell Vaggie about Department A, about what happened back in the Demon Realm, and about the Underworld trip. Vaggie and Faz listened and asked the occasional question, both shocked about everything that Gus had been through.

"And so after the faux wedding," Gus said before the crystal ball started to beep.

"Oh, looks like we're out of time, Vaggie," Eve said while noticing Vaggie's feet were fading.

"Well… I guess, this is goodbye then," Vaggie said with a sigh while looking at the three "Thank you, Eve, for helping set this up." She turned to Gus and Fazio. "Gus… I'm so happy that I got to see you again. And Faz, make sure you take care of yourself, alright? I want neither of you to blame yourself over my death. Instead, I want you both to have a good life for me, alright. Good luck in the world of the living."

Gus gave her a nod. "Good luck to you as well, Vaggie."

"Yeah, take care while in Heaven," Fazio said with a look of relief, like a weight had been taken off of his shoulders.

Vaggie smiled and then started to fade away, parts of her turning into moths made of light as Vaggie shut her eye. "Goodbye, guys," she said before she completely faded away.

After that, Eve stood up and looked at the two, allowing a moment of silence to pass before she spoke. "How are you guys holding up?"

Gus and Fazio were still looking at the spot where Vaggie had disappeared when Gus responded. "Well, I am still sad, but… ever since I learned she was dead, I tried to find a way to cope, like changing my look or making an illusion of her to speak to… but coming here and have this séance really helped. I feel… closure."

"It really did help, kid," Fazio agreed. "Without Vaggie's presence, it has been… very hard for me to go on living. I haven't been performing, I haven't been leaving my apartment or eating as much, and sometimes I wasn't even able to get out of bed," he admitted. "But this séance… it really helped. Seeing Vaggie again and actually getting to say goodbye… I feel like I can actually move forward now."

"That is the purpose of a séance, to seek closure," Eve said. "The Oracle Coven performs these to help witches go through with their grief. It's not just good for party games and sleepovers, but it's a way to help reach out to those who you've lost. Whether it be your relative, friend, or an ancestor you wish to speak of. It's a way to help you get the closure you need. This was actually my first time doing one of these for that purpose… and I would say it has been a success!"

Gus and Fazio turned to each other and nodded in agreement, both of them feeling less burdened now than they did before.

Afterward, Gus and Eve were outside of the apartment, Fazio seeing them off.

"Thanks for helping us, Fazio," Gus told him while giving the magician a hug. "I promise to stay in touch."

"You just take good care of yourself, Gus," Fazio responded, patting Gus's back after the hug. "Cause I'm going to be taking care of myself as well."

"Yeah," Gus said as he got out the portal key. "And it was nice seeing you again. Though, what will you do now?"

"I think I'll clean myself up and maybe look for a new job," Fazio said. "The magic act isn't exactly paying the bills. But don't worry about me. I'll manage." He turned to Eve. "You take care of yourself too, Eve."

Gus and Eve nodded. "We will, sir," Eve promised.

Gus set up the portal door and held up the portal key to activate it. "I'll see you when I can, Faz," he told him as the door shone brightly. Fazio watched as both Gus and Eve entered the portal. A moment later, the portal was gone, leaving Fazio alone in the parking lot. He would remain out there for a minute before heading back inside, ready to clean up his act…

Night had fallen by the time that Eda and Luz had made it back to the Owl House, having finally returned home.

"Well, glad that's over with," Eda said as she slumped on the couch.

"Yeah," Luz replied with a sigh. "Wish Amity could have been a part of this adventure…"

It was then that the portal door appeared in the living room, folding up and opening. Gus and Eve came out, neither Luz nor Eda being surprised to see them.

"We're back!" Gus announced. "So what did we miss?"

At an RV park, everyone was getting ready for the night, tents having already been set up. The adults were hanging out in a makeshift hot tub, while the girls were around the campfire and the boys were inside the RV. Acorn, meanwhile, was trying to resist the bug zapper.

"Light is so pretty… but must remain… strong!" Acorn shouted.

At the campfire, the girls were laughing and telling stories to each other. Amity had just finished hers, a can of cola in her hand. Ghost was sleeping nearby, curled up near the fire.

"And I kept looking for them but as it turns out, I had my earphones wrapped around my neck the whole time!" Amity finished as she laughed along with the other girls. "I was out of it at the time!"

"Reminds me of when I couldn't find my house keys," Masha said with a chuckle.

"Or my cellphone," Pacifica added.

Clara glanced over at Vee, still thinking about all the girls she had seen Vee talking to. She decided to bring it up. "So Vee, I've uh, noticed you talking to different girls at the places we stopped at."

"Oh yeah, that," Vee responded as she rubbed the back of her hair. "Well, I wanted to use this road trip as a way to practice talking to girls. Though I'm not looking for anything more serious than friendship with them, because the truth is that there's this… girl I have feelings for," she admitted.

"Really? Far out, Vee!" Masha replied, nudging Vee's arm.

"Heh, thanks," Vee said, her face red in embarrassment. "I guess you could say that talking to those other girls was a way for me to build up my confidence before I ask her out."

This worried Clara, who cleared her throat. "Hey, I think we could use some marshmallows. Want me to get some?"

"Heck yeah!" Dana shouted, the other girls voicing their agreement.

"Great, I think there are some in the van," Clara said as she got up. "Vee, how about you come with me in case I need help?"

"Uh sure, Clara," Vee replied, as both girls stood up and walked toward the van.

Once Clara and Vee were alone. Clara's worrying thoughts started to surface. 'Vee practicing with those girls is starting to make sense now… she's practicing so she can ask Masha out! Wait, maybe it's not Masha… of course it's Masha, Masha is the kind of girl who'd be into someone like Vee,' she looked down with a saddened look, but then raised her head up. 'No… I should be fair over this. If Vee plans to ask Masha out, I'm just gonna have to beat her to it… but not in a way that I would come off as bitchy. I don't want to act like how I was back in Gatesfield…'

"Clara, you alright?" Vee spoke up, noticing that Clara seemed lost in her thoughts.

"Oh um… I'm okay," Clara responded, trying to not look nervous or anxious. She stopped and took a deep breath. "Um… okay, I just want to get straight to the point so… I actually wanted to come with me so I could talk to you in private. I want to know… who are you going to ask out?"

"Oh, well… we both know her, actually," Vee replied, looking down with a smile. "She always speaks her mind, and is quite headstrong…"

'Oh no…' Clara thought, thinking that Vee was referring to Masha.

"I developed a crush on her after she came to Gravity Falls," Vee continued, which increased Clara's worries even more. "And all of this practice is helping me gain enough courage so that once we are back in the Falls…"

'Of course it's Masha! She's going to ask out Masha!' Clara internally panicked.

"...I can ask Star out on a date," Vee finished, making Clara's eyes widen in realization.

"Star?" Clara said in confusion. "Oh… oh, Star! You've been practicing for Star?"

"Yeah," Vee replied. "After watching Amity and Luz get married, I decided that I want to ask Star out. Maybe the next time Luz comes visiting the Human Realm, I can ask her to help me meet up with Star again."

Clara sighed in relief, though she felt like an idiot. "Well, that's great for you, Vee. I hope you and Star hit it off!"

"Thanks, Clara," Vee replied, but then she realized something. "Wait, did you think I was going to ask someone else out?"

Realizing that Vee was on the money, Clara looked down. "In truth, I did. For a minute, I thought you were going to ask out Masha. You two have seemed to really hit it off…"

"Oh… well, Masha's been a good friend, but I don't think I have feelings for her," Vee admitted. "I kinda already had a crush on Star by the time I got to know Masha. But… were you going to ask her out?"

Clara nodded in confirmation. "Yes," she admitted. "I was going to ask Masha out. I have… feelings for her and I honestly have felt threatened by you since we've met, since Masha looked like she was into you…" She looked down in shame. "I am so sorry for my foolishness…"

"Hey, it's fine. I forgive you, Clara," Vee said, patting her shoulder in reassurance. "I'm just glad we could clear things up now before things escalate. Hopefully this makes you feel better."

"Yeah, it… it really does," Clara replied, letting out another sigh of relief. "I'm so glad you aren't actually my romantic rival. Maybe… maybe we can be friends instead?"

"I thought we were already," Vee admitted. "But yeah, we can be friends." The two then shook hands before Vee smirked. "So… you and Masha, huh?"

Clara chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of her hair. "Yeah. I've been… nervous, about asking Masha out. Honestly, she has been a big help for me. If it weren't for her encouragement and her support, I wouldn't have met Willow or left Gatesfield or met my long-lost god sister… or started to have a better relationship with my mother. She… honestly changed my life. Plus, she's just really cool and really pretty. It's funny because until recently, I never thought I would be able to make a connection with someone like her because of how different we were."

Vee gave an understanding nod. "I think I can relate. I mean, me and Star are very different, since she is like this battle-hardened badass and I'm… not that. We shouldn't work as friends and yet… we do. Then when she and Lilith rescued me from being dissected by this mad scientist, I think that was the moment when I started to… fall for her. I know that it's cliché, but she saved me and became my hero. I wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for her and that is why I want to ask her out."

Clara nodded as well. "I totally get it. Seriously, I wish you luck on asking Star out."

"Yeah, and good luck with Masha," Vee replied. "If you want, I could help you ask her out."

"I appreciate that, but no thanks," Clara said, shaking her head. "I think this is something I want to do myself. Now come on, let's not keep the other girls waiting."

A few minutes later, the two girls returned with marshmallows and other supplies from the van.

"Hey, you're back!" Masha spoke up.

"We were just about to play a game Grenda and Candy made up called Truth, Dare or Don't," Pacifica explained.

"Isn't that just Truth or Dare?" Clara asked.

"Yeah, but they added a 'don't' to dodge a truth or dare," Amity replied excitingly.

"And the first will go to… Candy!" Grenda pointed to Candy.

"Well, I choose… don't!" Candy chose.

"Ugh! You always choose don't," Grenda groaned.

"Fine… um, truth then," Candy picked.

"Alright, girl, tell us… what is up with you between you and Dipper?" Pacifica asked her with a sly smile, which made Candy blush.

"Uh-oh, someone's blushing…" Grenda said.

"Wait, you and Dipper?" Amity asked in surprise.

"Yeah, I did notice you two hanging out more after we left Upsidedown Town," Dana recalled.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about. I was just… trying to be a good friend," Candy claimed.

"Oh no, girl. You can't deny how you feel about him," Paz said. "Take it from someone who had a crush on Mabel all summer."

"Oh, now this is getting good," Masha said while sipping her soda.

"Tell me if it's true, Candy!" Grenda asked her best friend, who looked away shyly.

"I mean… he's a pretty good guy, and… well, I kinda like the name 'Mason'…" Candy admitted.

Grenda gasped before letting out a loud cry, waking up a nearby Ghost and sending her scampering away.

Grenda's deep cry was heard by Abigail, Camila, and Nora, startling the three adults.

"What was that?!" Nora asked, looking around.

The boys who were hanging out in the RV heard the noise as well.

"Boy, those coyotes are getting a lot worse," Dipper commented.

"That was a coyote?" Gus G asked while strumming his guitar.

"So… what do you guys want to talk about?" Rudo asked them, breaking the awkward silence.

"Um… guy… stuff?" Dipper suggested. "Like… wrestling?"

"I don't follow wrestling much," Gus G admitted.

"My folks won't allow me to watch anything violent," Rudo admitted.

Dipper sighed. "You know, it's weird trying to have a conversation without the girls around," he said, realizing that he wasn't used to hanging out with just guys.

"Yeah man," Gus G agreed, which caused him to snap his fingers in realization "Hey, what if we talk about girls?"

"Yeah!/I'm down for it," Dipper and Rudo agreed.

"Gus, you suggested it, so you go first," Dipper pointed out. "You got any girls you like?"

"Well… maybe," Gus G admitted. "I think Vee is pretty cute."

Dipper winced at this. "Ooh, sorry pal, but Vee is gay," Dipper revealed. "That was why she was talking to all those girls earlier today."

"Oh… oh, dang," Gus G said while looking down. "I had no idea…"

"Hey man, you didn't know," Rudo reassured him, patting him on the back.

"Trust me, Gus, it is better that you know now," Dipper said.

"Yeah, I guess you're right, Dipper," Gus G responded with a nod. "But man, it kinda feels like all the girls I've met lately are gay or bi or are otherwise queer. Clara is into Masha, Luz and Amity are a couple as are Willow and Skara, Pacifica is your sister's girlfriend…"

"What about Candy?" Rudo asked, shocking Dipper.

"W-what about her?" Dipper asked nervously.

"Hey yah, you've been hanging out with her all day," Gus G said with a grin. "Something going on between you two?"

"Oh uh… well… I guess," Dipper said, rubbing the back of his head. He then sighed. "Okay, I… do have a crush on Candy…"

Piedmont, California

Mabel shot up in bed, her eyes widened. She didn't know why, but her matchmaking senses were going off…

"There has been a disturbance," she said to herself, trying to figure out what that disturbance was. "But what…?"

"For how long?" Rudo asked Dipper.

"Yeah, tell us how it happened?" Gus G said as the two looked at Dipper, waiting for his response.

"Well… I guess it started about last month," Dipper began. "It was during this puppet show Mabel had set up. Mabel had been kicked out of her own body by a demon called Bill Cipher, so Mabel had to possess one of her puppets to warn me, Candy, and Grenda about it…"

Backstage, Dipper was with Candy, Grenda, and the Mabel-possessed sock puppet.

"OK team, game plan," Dipper spoke while holding the journal. He was dressed as a priest for the play. "Bill wants the journal, which is okay for now because I have it. But he also has complete control over whether Mabel lives or dies so our first priority should be to stop that being a thing."

"Alright, a live exorcism! And done by a priest!" Grenda declared.

Dipper looked through the journal, frowning. "I'm not seeing anything here about demonic possession though… maybe there's a way we can force Bill out of your body?" he said to the Mabel puppet. "Like if we knock it out or overstimulate it or something? But I don't know how we would do that without hurting you."

Puppet-Mabel, Candy, and Grenda shared a look, giving a nod. Suddenly they started heading out with puppet-Mabel turning to the other way.

"Mabel, can you take over on the keyboard for me?" Candy asked her.

"I'm on it!" Puppet-Mabel responded.

This surprised Dipper. "Whoa, wait, you guys are just leaving? In my time of need?"

"We have a plan, but we need time to go home and get supplies," Grenda explained.

"We have been prepared in case one of our own was turned against us!" Candy revealed.

"Whoa, this isn't like, a suicide pact sorta thing, is it?" Dipper asked them. It was then Candy went over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder, shocking Dipper.

The two locked eyes for a moment, their faces very close to each other. Then Candy closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Good luck," Candy told him in a soft voice before she turned to follow Grenda.

Dipper stood there for a moment as he processed what had just happened. Then he raised his journal up to his face. "Oh my god."

"I think that was when it started… though I didn't realize I had feelings for her until after the party at Northwest Manor, when I suddenly grew jealous when she took an interest in this Austrian guy who ended up with Grenda. At the time, I didn't know why I was so jealous, but now I do," Dipper finished. "It is because I like Candy. She's smart and supportive and a good friend and-"

"Cute?" Gus G suggested. "You know, maybe you should ask her out at the last tourist spot tomorrow."

"R-Really? I-I don't know," Dipper said while looking down. "W-What if she doesn't… like me back? Then things will be awkward between us and-"

"Dude, chill," Gus G said to Dipper. "Look, it's all about finding the right moment.."

"Yeah, you just gotta let it flow, bro," Rudo said. "Whether she says yes or no, at least you'll get it out of your chest."

"Yeah, you guys are right," Dipper responded, feeling more confident. "I'll just… have to find the right moment."

"Great, man," Gus G replied. "Now then, it's your turn, Rudo."

"Alright, what's to ask about?" Rudo asked.

"For starters, are you and Dana like, together or not?" Dipper asked.

"Yeah, we've been wondering about that," Gus G said as they waited for Rudo to answer.

Meanwhile, the trio of Camila, Abigail, and Nora were chilling in the hot tub, all dressed in their bathing suits.

"To Camila's move to Gravity Falls!" Abigail shouted, raising her drink.

"To Camila!" Nora shouted as she raised hers up and they clashed their drinks together.

"Oh this has been fun," Camila admitted. "Just hanging out with my old and new friends, hitting the road… can't remember the last time I did this."

"So Camila, how does it feel living back in the Human Realm after so long?" Nora asked.

"Well, it's… different," Camila admitted. "Everything is a bit different now. Adjusting to Gravity Falls will take time, but once I am settled down, I think I will start looking for a job. I'm sure there are a lot of job opportunities in Gravity Falls. Probably not one for a vet though…" She sipped her drink. "So where are we heading to tomorrow?"

"A place called Mystery Mountain," Nora mentioned. "I was thinking of taking up Darlene on her offer for a group discount."

"Darlene? Who's she?" Abigail asked.

"Oh, this woman that Fu Dog, the talking dog we were with when we arrived in Gravity Falls, knew," Nora answered. "She seemed nice."

"Mystery Mountain… sounds fun," Camila said with a nod.

Nora looked over at Camila, building up the courage to ask her something. "Camila… I hope you don't mind me asking this, but… I have been wondering about this since first meeting you. What was it like to… die?"

Nora's question caught both Abigail and Camila by surprise. While Abigail looked alarmed, Camila wasn't put off by it and instead tried to give an honest answer.

"Honestly… I don't know how to explain how it felt," Camila admitted, looking down at her own drink. "A lot of people say death feels cool, but I don't remember feeling that. I guess… I guess I felt a lack of anything, which is a difficult thing to explain. Because we often say we don't feel anything, but we are still feeling something. A complete lack of anything is… completely different. All of your senses just go… blank as you leave your body. And it does take a while to remember what things feel like after you come back. To remember warmth, cold, shape, texture… to remember what it feels like to actually exist." She was quiet for a moment before continuing. "You know, I never ended up in Heaven or any other afterlife. I ended up in a place called Purgatory."

"What's Purgatory like?" Abigail asked, just as curious as Nora.

"Well, one thing I can say about it is that the place was… surprisingly mundane," Camila said. "It was like I was stranded in a waiting room, almost something out of a David Lynch or Terry Gilliam movie. I didn't even know how much time had passed until I saw my daughter again. It just felt like both an eternity and a short amount of time…" She looked down at her reflection in the feeling. "Dying and being resurrected… it did change me. There is no going back to when things were, well, 'normal' for me. Even now, as I'm trying to get my life back on track, I am in a town with ghosts and mad scientists…"

"Yeah, I know that feeling," Nora said with a sympathetic nod.

Camila continued. "Ever since my resurrection, I have been in a constant state of adjustment whether it is to being alive again, to living in the Boiling Isles, or to living in Gravity Falls. And I know that this weirdness will always be a part of my life now."

Abigail nodded. "I have been in your situation before, Camila. I may have been dealing with weirdness and magic longer than you have, but there was a point where my life was 'normal'. But after Angel and Eda…" She looked down. "My life was forever changed and there was no going back."

"Well, I am new to this," Nora admitted. "But I do know that I can't just live my life the same way I did before after learning that magic is real and that there are other dimensions and multiple afterlives… that is something that just changes you and your perspective on… well, pretty much everything."

"Yeah, though I do wonder… what kind of afterlife would I have gone to if I hadn't been resurrected," Camila admitted. "Luz mentioned that the Underworld works as a nexus for all the afterlives, so who knows which one I would've been sorted to. Heaven, perhaps?"

"So wait, while you were in Purgatory… why wasn't your husband there as well?" Nora brought up.

"Yeah, did you see Manny there?" Abigail asked her.

"I… I didn't," Camila admitted. "Though, that has been bothering me for quite some time. I wasn't able to move on since I apparently had unfinished business, but since Manny wasn't there in Purgatory waiting for me… I guess he moved on, perhaps to Heaven. I just… don't know…"

Opening her eye, Vaggie found herself in a light-blue hallway with a white roof and floor. She looked around, seeing the light-blue walls covered in carvings. She got closer and noticed that the carvings depicted winged horned creatures slaughtering Sinners and Demons alike. These carvings were glorifying the annual Exterminations of Hell carried out by the Exorcists, though Vaggie didn't know that.

"Where… where am I?" she asked, looking around with a feeling of dread. "Did I… move on?"

She started to walk down the hallway, spotting a door at the very end of it. A creeping feeling made her hug herself as she grew more unsettled with each passing moment. It was then she noticed several portraits hanging in the hallway. One of them depicted a tall blonde man with pale skin, while the other depicted a pale woman with long blonde hair and horns. The portrait of the man was heavily vandalized, with X's on his eyes and red devil horns and tail added. But the portrait of the woman was remarkably intact.

"She is something, isn't she?" asked a voice behind Vaggie.

"GAH!" Vaggie was startled, turning around to see a black horned humanoid figure with a black screened face that had one round right-eye with a black X mark, while their left eye is narrow, and they just formed a smile that looks like a child drawing. They had white wings with black stripes, and wore a gray top with white arm gloves, and their halo was black. "Who… what are you? A demon?!"

"Hehe, can't you tell? I'm an angel…" they said while leaning toward Vaggie, who backed away.

"Lute, quit messing around with the lady!" someone shouted.

The creature, Lute, deflated as they turned around. "I was trying to meet the new cutie, boss."

Vaggie turned to see who Lute was speaking to. Walking over to them was a golden-winged humanoid being. His face was similar to Lute's, but with more golden colored facial expressions with black pupils over his golden eyes. He had longer horns with golden ornamental attachments on the tips of his horns and a golden halo above his head. He wore a smooth white and golden cloak with a large 'A' symbol emblazoned on the front. He had visible black hands.

"Don't mind my subordinate, Lute can be a bit too… friendly with new souls around here," he said to her.

"Who… who are you?" Vaggie asked him.

"Walk with me, my child," he replied, gesturing for her to follow him. The confused young woman decided to do as she was told, walking alongside the being while Lute followed them from behind.

"Just… where am I?" Vaggie asked him in confusion, looking back to see Lute following them. "And what's with that guy?"

"Well, to answer your first question, you are right now in Heaven, darlin," he responded, which shocked Vaggie.

"I… I'm in Heaven?!" Vaggie asked in surprised.

Seeing her surprised reaction, the being rolled his eyes. "Let me guess, you're surprised because it's not how you pictured it, since lots of mortals seem to think it's all cloudy and nice here… well, you'd be technically right, this place is foggier than a fog machine in a Christian Rock concert…. or are you surprised because you didn't think that you would be able to cut it for Heaven?"

Vaggie turned away, not answering his question. "So… who are you?"

"The name's Adam, sugarlips," Adam replied. "I am one of the high ranking Angels running Heaven after the big G stepped down."

This shocked Vaggie. "By Big G… do you mean…?"

"That's right! The big boss himself! The head honcho! The grand poobah, the head Water Buffalo-"

"Alright, she gets it, Lute," Adam told Lute off.

"What is… Lute?" Vaggie asked.

"Lute is one of the Exorcists," Adam explained. "He's part of a group of Angels that I lead and is tasked with the purpose of annually killing a portion of Hell's population so that it won't be overcrowded there. Unethical? Maybe, but we're just wiping out the worst shits down there." Adam stopped at the door of his office, opening it for Vaggie to enter. "Ladies first," he offered.

Vaggie walked into Adam's office, taking a seat while Adam went over to his desk. He pulled up a file with her name on it.

"You have a file on me?" she asked him.

"We have files on everyone, it is kinda our job," Adam said as he went through her file. "Hmm, let's see here. Born in a troubled home, father issues, ooh a runaway and ends up in… oh wow, my little brother Jesus would love hanging out with you, given the types of groupies he's gained, if ya know what I'm saying?"

Vaggie looked a bit anxious. "Is this how things usually work around here in Heaven?"

"No," Adam admitted. "Depending on who you ask, you shouldn't be here. But you are a unique case, Vagatha. And I wanted to see you personally… because I got a job for you."

This piqued her curiosity. "A job? What kind of job?"

Adam gave a grin while his fingers intertwined. "What else? God's work…"

Well, this chapter turned out well than what we've expected.

First off to point out, that this chapter has been through a lot of this fic's development. First off, what instantly changed was to have Stan arrested and Mabel sent home, exiting the two out of the story for a while. After that, we have an idea of Eda being the one driving everyone in an attempt to cheer Dipper up. But later we cut Luz and Eda from the storyline, focusing on Amity and the Gravity Falls/Gatesfield characters instead. Though one thing we have always planned out, is to address the issues with the original episode, which is definitely one of the weaker Gravity Falls episode.

In canon, Roadside Attraction had this pretty messed up moral the more you think about it. That being it depicts a character who is socially awkward was just practicing in doing small talk. The moral decides to shame Dipper that what he's doing is… no better than what a pick-up artist does? This was one of the weakest episodes of Gravity Falls with such a weak moral, but it's not going to be the end of it…

Originally, this chapter was going to adapt Roadside Attraction into one chapter, but due to circumstances, we've decided to split it into two. As for Vaggie appearing in Heaven, well, we've decided to play the readers' expectations for a bit, hence the ending.

And about Lois, Camila's kid cousin, well you'll be seeing her soon. And yes, she is going to be a reference to that Lois...

That's all we got, so let's answer some reviews:

BlueKnight-X2: Now you know.

Spantidem7: I think you meant Exorcists, not Exterminators. Not going to answer all of your questions since there's too much on them.

Gl1uck: All will be revealed soon…

Matteso585: I mean, some people would call someone either a "doctor" or "miss" so it's not that big of a deal. It's just common in using different formalities whether that person minds it or not. 2) Get over it. 3) That's what we're aiming for. 4) He wouldn't have a girlfriend, obviously.

Crosshot: Who knows if that's the real Merlin or not who founded Merlin Meadows… it's a mystery.

Franco Almiron: Yes on the Faust/Terra part.

Shuffollower: Fan's just a social butterfly. Also I don't think the Calypso part is a goof, just that as far as CATTs knows, Calypso is under Terra's influence. I corrected Frewin's name. Glad you caught the Kuzso's theme music reference.

RJWritingInk: We imagined in our interpretation of Hettie Cutburn as a mad doctor who harvest and collects organs, much like the old Victorian-Era doctors do. And yeah, actual people wanted Faust dead to the point where someone, not saying who, sends a hypothetical scene in how the last chapter should have gone with the Grim Goblin as the villain to kill Faust. Like, you can't have a villain like the Grim Goblin to just randomly show up without build up…we're not like Mark Millar.

Ultimate-drax: Yeah, that's always part of the main theme of the fic. That an act of kindness can potentially better someone in the future.

Guest: Um, don't expect that to happened. I don't think Gus would gain some kind of half-form…

Krypton Joy Writes: Well, Ash is overdue to exit out the series. So glad that Pokemon decides to move on to a new protagonist, like how Digimon and Beyblade does.

Next chapter, we continue down on Roadside Attraction, but also a long overdue reunion...
