... How It's Going

Summary: The chaos continues and a winner emerges

Evie's Notes: So... I just remembered that this story existed. But hey! I didn't go a full year between updates. I hope you enjoy this nice ending to this silliness.

"Has anyone seen the big saucepan?" asked Mara, holding a large strainer of boiled and pitted tomatoes. Fabian clambered on top of the counter to reach the top of the built-in cabinets where Jerome had stashed the pot Fabian needed in order to sabotage team one… the bloody giant prick.

"Where did my mushrooms go?" demanded Eddie, looking frantically through the crowded countertop.

"How on earth did you set a pot of water on fire?!" demanded Joy, beating Jerome with an oven mitt while the boy cackled with a manic look in his eyes.

Patricia calmly stirred the ingredients for team two's shepherd's pie on the stove top, doing her best to shut out the chaos around her. Tipping in her freshly cubed sweet potatoes, Patricia carefully seasoned the dish before adding it to the pie dish and sliding it into the oven.

Alfie, who had been laughing quietly and filming the whole thing, turned the camera around to add his own insight. "So clearly everything is going great" shared the boy, his dark eyes sparkling with happiness.

"Chop those chocolate pieces carefully" ordered Joy directing Jerome over to the cutting board as she mixed the milk and peanut butter over a double boiler.

Fabian had just finished chopping up the container of strawberries and reached for the clear container of sugar… At least he thought it was sugar. Scooping a cup of salt he sprinkled it over the bowl of fruit ready to let it soak and create a delicious syrup.

"Bro! What the hell do you think you are doing?" yelped Eddie, grabbing the bowl and dumping the strawberries into the strainer in the sink.

"What am I doing? What are you doing?" shouted Fabian, smacking the American boy in protest.

Alfie cackled excitedly, filming the drama unfolding before the camera.

"You used salt genius. Not sugar" spat Eddie, scrubbing the fruit in hopes of removing the mistake.

"No I didn- oh" grumbled Fabian spinning the clear container to view the word 'SALT' written on the label.

"Fabian go finish the casserole and put it in the oven while Eddie does the Strawberries" suggested Mara as she sauteed the mushrooms and peppers in the large saucepan she had located in the drawer next to the oven, how it got there no one knows… though Joy did look rather suspicious.

An hour later saw both teams dishing up their respective meals onto two plates to present to the judges, Amber and Nina. Amber was covered in an alarming amount of sequins and glitter glue, but no one was brave enough to ask her why.

Team One won the coin toss and got to present their dish first.

Amber had a queasy look on her face as Mara approached the table with two plates. The chaos they had heard through the kitchen door hadn't exactly filled either girl with confidence in the proposed meals. Amber already had the number for the pizza place loaded in her phone.

"May I present our chicken and eggplant parmesan casserole served over a bed of pasta with our homemade marinara sauce. Additionally, we sauteed the mushrooms and peppers in a light balsamic mixture and added them to the dish. For dessert Eddie, mixed the strawberries with a cup of SUGAR," here Mara paused to throw a glare at Fabian, who just rolled his eyes at her. "Creating a delicious syrup"

"Wow! This is much more than I expected from you all" commented Nina, taking in all that the team had prepared. She honestly hadn't expected anything edible while putting together the two mystery boxes. She had been craving Pizza all week and figured if this didn't work out at least she got some free entertainment along with her comfort food.

"Well, here goes nothing," whispered Amber, lifting up her fork and taking a bite of the eggplant chicken parmesan casserole. Alfie made sure to zoom in with his camera in order to capture the beautiful girl's reaction.

"Holy Shit! This is actually good" gasped Nina, shocked at the flavors she was experiencing.

"RUDE!" protested Eddie, glaring at his fellow American for her lack of faith in them.

"Yeah, Nina's right," agreed Amber. "The chicken is nice and juicy, the eggplant is flavorful. The sauce is just sweet enough without being too much"

Trying the veggies, the girls agreed that while the mushrooms were a bit overpowering, overall the side dish was still good. The sugar strawberries were mostly fine… but rather underwhelming after everything else the trio had made.

"Ugh! What is that?" asked Nina, pulling a sour face after biting through a larger strawberry. "Bleh! Amber try this one"

"No Thank You!" disagreed the girl. "I'll take your word that it tastes bad"

Nina pushed the salty strawberry as far away from her on the plate as she could.

"Our turn" declared Patricia, setting two plates down in front of the girls.

"Ohhh! This looks promising. What is it?" asked Amber

"We made a traditional shepherd's pie with a chopped sweet potato filling," explained Patricia.

"I made the baked beans," bragged Jerome proudly.

"Meaning Jerry poured the can in a pot and forgot about it" teased Eddie

"Fuck off Miller"

"And for dessert I made peanut butter and chocolate fudge" finished Joy, cutting off the bickering boys.

"Well it looks good, let's dig in" grinned Nina, cutting into her slice of shepherd's pie.

"OOH, the sweet potatoes and veggies are so good" complimented Amber. "I don't normally like shepherd's pie, but Joy… this is awesome!"

"It can't be that good" protested Eddie

"Try it" replied Nina, passing her fork over to Eddie so he could taste.

The American boy took a big bite with a cocky grin. Only for his face to fall as he realized that the shepherd's pie was in fact delicious.

"Told you" sassed Amber.

Alfie turned around the camera to face him. "Now our competitors will return to the kitchen to await our judges' deliberation".

The six cooks went back to the kitchen to start cleaning up while Nina and Amber began to debate the dishes.

"Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, we are gathered together here today to crown the cooking champions of Anubis House" announced Nina

"Drumroll please" called Amber. Her housemates eagerly began to pound their hands on the available surfaces. "After much deliberation, we have decided…. Team Two Wins!"

Patricia, Joy and Jerome celebrated loudly, jumping up and down and shouting.

Fabian, Eddie and Mara clapped supportively, having tried team one's dish and agreed that it was just that good.

Amber placed the paper crowns she had decorated earlier on the winners' heads.

"Now for the best part" grinned Alfie, turning off his camera. "Who's hungry? Let's eat!"

Hours later when Victor and Trudy returned home they found the group of twelve curled up in the living room fast asleep; Patricia, Jerome and Joy still wearing their glittery and bedazzled paper crowns.

Trudy snapped a few photos of the group and turned off the lights, cooing softly at the adorable scene. Even Victor couldn't fight the tiny smile that crossed his face upon seeing the students fast asleep.

The adults quietly said their good nights and headed to their rooms. The destroyed kitchen could wait until tomorrow.
