Miitopian Civil War
Chapter 5: Skyscraper Investigation
Date: January 12th, 2023
We agreed to next attack the Nazis in a few days. Since our liberation of Greenhorne Village, we have successfully posted all kinds of anti-Nazi posters and put out books on all sorts of topics that are against fascism as a whole. The Nazis have co-opted the term socialism so they can label our movement is not legimately socialist even though socialism isn't about national pride or money. That's fascism and capitalism, not socialism. Therefore, further drumming up support for the people's movement has been more difficult as of late. That being said, we still have contact with rebels all over Miitopia, ready to riot, strike, and do anything else to subvert the Nazis. Our efforts to speak out against them haven't been ignored. We are slowly changing the mantra of Miitopians. A few years ago, we could have more peacefully gotten rid of the Nazis. Back then, there was still a chance for solely a cultural and political revolution to get them. But now that they control nearly every region in Miitopia with an iron fist, that's not enough although it is something we are still counting on to succeed. A revolution can only succeed if it's popular and big enough. If it isn't, it gets beat down like what we saw in my world in Brazil with the fascists trying to get rid of Lula who was elected president of the country last year. The fascists were all arrested and stopped from as successfully pulling what MAGA Nazis did 2 years ago in Washington DC. A revolution must also be well equipped with more than just large numbers and support. It needs to be planned and well armed. Last night, we got some information from rebels in Skyscraper that all of the monsters in the tall structure have decided to ally with the Nazis and help them control the mii population inside the place. They rule people by brainwashing or forcing them to obey with fear, hatred, violence, and more. We have assembled an investigative attack force to go to Skyscraper to plan our next steps out as soon as possible after getting more information in the morning.
The reason I don't write as much about this war as other things is because well, there's too much going on. Way too much to possibly write all about. There are so many facets of war. One person cannot fully capture everything they and their comrades go through. Most days are generally the same. Wake up. Eat. Get ready. Leave. Fight. Eat. Fight. Return. Eat. Train and/or prepare for more if there's time. Sleep. But sometimes, it's not that simple. Sometimes, some for us have to fight all day and all night. Or stay up to patrol. We all do at least once a month. Did I care we were going to investigate Skyscraper on my birthday? No. I put up a note on our new post it bulletin in our cafeteria: "Comrades, do not get me anything for my birthday. You don't have to go out of your way to say happy birthday to me. The greatest birthday gift today would be crushing Nazis and killing tyrants who won't change. That's all I want for my birthday. -Swiftdrawer" I still got some birthday wishes but not many as we are still in fact fighting a war that I fear will even start spilling into other worlds as time goes on. But let's skip over more stuff of that kind. I arrive to the part of the Skyscraper the rebels have captured and made their base of operations and small commune. It's by the entrance to the place. They had a lot of their forces standing guard outside of what they have taken. Their intense gazes only soften a little bit as they let me pass after immediately identifying me. I'm the first to arrive to help investigate the monsters in Skyscraper and gather any intel possible. I'm ushered into their base with many others quickly arriving after me.
Once everyone is in, a woman with long curly purple hair, scarlet eyes, brown skin, and a full body red and black tank armor greets us: "Welcome, comrades. My name is Barla. I was a military commander under the Skyscraper Union until I learned what the fascists were doing by accident. I defected and helped start a rebellion here. As you can see, we're small in number. We do not have what we need to take more of Skyscraper. Thank you for coming." Saw Mill Killer, one of many from the anarchist Minecraftian communes who have come to help us replies: "Do we get to rip apart the monsters and make them scream?" "We aren't killing anyone until we get the intel we need out of them. Unless you want to vote on the matter. The monsters aren't active at this hour but they will be soon once the citizens wake up. Does anyone object into splitting into teams of 2?" We all shake our heads no and split into teams before heading out. I'm with Barla. Our task is to investigate the upper right corner of the tower. She says to me as we leave the base: "I know a shortcut. I order you to follow me." "It's good to meet ya, Barla but please cease the ordering. I don't take orders. We are equals." She leads me to a vent: "I humbly apologize. I was in charge of military forces all throughout Miitopia for decades. I became the commander here after this place became being inhabited by miis because I thought there would be no inequality in a brand new country. I was wrong. It's taking some time to unlearn commanding others around. *opens the vent* Even in this land, tyrants almost always forget the vents. We'll use this to get where we need to go without being detected." "I don't think I've sneaked around in a vent before. This will be difficult but my armor will be quiet enough for us to succeed without much trouble unless they installed high tech security you don't know about. We better be quiet."
Before entering the vent and gesturing me to follow, Barla replies: "You have that right, knight. No sudden movements or we'll be dead. Let's get in, now! There's no time to waste!" I nod and follow her in. It was a really tight squeeze and it took us a few minutes to get very far. I whisper: "Are you sure this is a shortcut?" "Look knight, you don't know this place like I do. Just follow me. There are far too many Nazis and monsters for us to deal with just to investigate the area we agreed to." "Do you have stats on their numbers." "Let's see.. 20,567 monsters and 5,954 Nazis based on our best guesses." "I fought thousands a while back. It was extremely difficult and draining. I want to avoid that amount of fighting for now on." "Don't blame ya. They keep recruiting miis from the Tomodachi Islands. Tough bunch of bastards they are when they fight together. I have the scars to prove it." "As do I. Let's keep moving then." We eventually reach the top floor that isn't the roof without any problems. I know this because Barla stopped and turned before yanking a vent off from its location. She gets out of the vent from there and draws a gun. I get out and draw my sword: "I never thought I'd be working with someone who uses a gun. Funny how things work out. This better work out." "I was the best sharpshooter in my class at the academy until the Dark Lord Melvin destroyed and tore it down to build Nightmare Tower in its place. Fled to New Lumos after that. I never thought I'd get a job that way but I became a tank anyway." "Good, I'm a close range fighter most of the time. You're a far range fighter. No wonder you wanted to work with me." "Correct. But enough sentiment, I hate sentiment. Gets in the way of our mission." "I understand completely." We hear footsteps: "Impossible. There are never guards up here this soon." "Crap. They must be on high alert after our little liberation of Greenhorne Village. We managed to cut communications and supplies for the Nazis in Greenhorne by doing so."
We fall silent and do our best to blend into the shadows. I even put on my Swiftdrawer cloak and mask to help. Is that even a monster? We see a Replica Dark Lord except they look like a regular mii in shape in gesture with half their face looking mii rather than Dark Lord. "Boss said be on the lookout for some radical sinners. I thought I heard something. Must have been my imagination." We stay still until the footsteps fall silent as they walk away and get to searching the hallway we have found ourselves in. But now, I notice it. The putrid smell of decaying corpses: "What the hell did they do here? I was under the impression this place was always clean with pretty fresh air. It smells like decomposition here." Barla trembles: "W-we had some of our comrades along with some citizens disappear in the middle of the night last week. No, damn it! I'll shoot bullets through their skulls for this!" "Those bastards. *looks closer* At first, it seemed like there was nothing here. But it's clear that there's stuff. I feel a lump underneath my right boot. Don't tell me? *gets away from the lump* Something is covered here. *uncovers the something*" We look on in horror at what is discovered. There's a body that's been bitten into, shot at, and clearly poisoned. "I rarely throw up but I just might. *looks closely* Crap! This is worse than we thought. I activate my skill, Artist's Eye! *it activates* This is far from the only body in this room. There must be hundreds. Those Nazis! How could they not give these miis any mercy? This hurts! If we find any Nazis who killed anyone, it'd be my pleasure to help kill them on the spot if they don't choose to change for the better once we get everything we can out of them. I hate saying this a lot but there are some people who are so cruel and beyond redemption that they have practically waived their lives away! They will regret this. We will make sure they do. We will crush their forces as much as we can and liberate Miitopia from fascism."
"My comrades! They have a lot of explaining to do once we get our hands on them!" "Very much so. But don't let your gun do all the talking for you. We can't allow ourselves to kill somebody who still has a chance of being redeemed. There was a time where all of them had a chance but for some, that chance is gone forever. Let's give them hell. The disregard for innocent lives and people just trying to live and be themselves is disgusting. Come, we better keep investigating this area." "You are right. But I will avenge these fallen members of my new family and Skyscraper society! I'll make the Nazis tremble in fear." "That is my desire too. Unfortunately, the blood of Nazi tyrants must be spilled to pave the way for a better future in all worlds they harm others like this one and my world of origin. Worse yet, we'll have to kill some of their pawns because we won't be able to capture and contain all of them for much longer. I don't want to kill the pawns, I want to kill or at least serious hurt the puppet masters, the ones who pull the strings and send what they see as disposable meat to do most of their dirty work. But most importantly, we cannot under any circumstances let them win. There's no going back to just peaceful means, we are past that point now." With that said, we slowly and quietly start looking around elsewhere when a commanding Nazi officer sees us: "Intruders! This floor is a restricted zone. *looks at each of us more closely* Hey, I know you two! You're wanted criminals! MONSTERS, BOUNTY HUNTERS, WE HAVE CRIMINALS IN OUR MIDST! KILL THEM IF NECESSARY BUT KEEP THEM ALIVE AND CAPTURE THEM OTHERWISE!" He starts running off but Barla pulls the trigger on her gun and shoots him in a non vital spot and smirks as he crumbles to the ground: "And where do you think you're going? You have a lot to answer for, Nazi scum!"
I pick him up by the collar of his gray uniform before pointing my sword to his throat: "You better tell us what we want to know or else. After that, you better change for the better or you will die today at our hands if you are responsible for killing innocent people just because they didn't follow the fascist order blindly or with fear." "What's it to you, knight? You don't even live here! I'll never talk!" "Barla, you can shoot him again. This time, break his kneecaps so he can't move on his own. Good on you for hitting a non vital spot that didn't have too many blood vessels going through it. We don't want this man to die without spilling what we want to know assuming he is in fact a killer with no desire to change to the point isolation or rehabilitation won't work. I guess legislating individuals out of legality you don't like wasn't good enough, Nazi. I saw you bastards ban gender affirming care, drag, abortion, homosexuality, opposition groups, and more. We were too busy to deal with it before late 2021. But now, you're our hostage." She does so just as some monsters and bounty hunters rush in: "Yes! My saviors! Dispose of these criminals who don't belong in the plans for Project Empire! They have betrayed Miitopia by turning against those chosen to lead it by Greed!" There are a lot of monsters and a few bounty hunters cloaked with brown hoods and blue outfits. One of the bounty hunters says: "How much are you paying for these criminals again?" Another answers as I leave Barla to question the Nazi officer while getting into a fighting stance and dropping the bastard before pointing my sword at the other enemies: "Last I heard, it was 5 million gold for each. They're dangerous targets willing to kill to get what they want! Haven't you heard of what happened to our supreme leader's business partner?" I cut them off: "Yeah, you better come at me, bastards. You want the gold? Come and get it! Just try and get me! I'm ready and naturally, that's very bad news for you!" "Hahaha, you stand no chance against us! But let's say you manage to defeat us all. That won't be enough to save you because the whole Skyscraper is on lockdown after they found more intruders like you all over the place snooping around!"
"I don't get scared easily. Enough talk, I'll do my best to cut you down where you stand, monster or bounty hunter. They must really be short on manpower if they have to use you guys. It's a good thing a lot of resources are being sent to try to crush the miis of Greenhorne Village and Realm Of The Fey because that means they're spread a little thin, as well supplied as they are. In case you were wondering, just because I'm a knight doesn't mean I secretly serve some church of royal family. I'm aware of 2 new knight organizations created after we kicked most of the knights out from the original. The Unified Royal Guard which protects Neksdor and what's left of the Greenhorne kingdom. They are allies of your supreme leader. And then there's the Chosen Freedom Defenders. Ridiculous. We should have taken even more drastic measures than throwing some of you out literally without anything the knights gave them. Oh well." A different bounty hunter laughs and shoves the others out of the way: "Hahaha! So it is you, the fake knight that expelled us out of that sham! We're all knights here. Monsters, stand back, we don't need your help! Normally, we'd be on the frontlines and in towns to help the noble cause of exterminating deviants, freaks, groomers, and leftists but they let us take off to hunt bounties!" "I see. No wonder you don't look intimidating. I'm so used to armored beings. Let's dance, you 4 fascists who don't embody what I personally believe to be what a true knight is! You might regret ever joining the Nazis after this but we'll see." The fight between me and the Nazi knights begins. Given that I'm against 4 experienced and well trained enemies at once who also fight with swords, I change from my usual strategy. Instead of attacking, I choose to employ intellect, defense, speed, and dexterity. It'll annoy and tire them until they start taking me a little more seriously. I don't know if they deserve to die according to my principles yet but we'll see. I won't kill them in combat unless they boast about killing someone and show no desire to change when I have them on the ropes.
They all start charging at me right away but I dodge each attack they swing at me by a nimble thread. I then back away from me and jump to the wall nearby. We're in a large room now next door to where the bodies are but separated by an even thinner hallway that is scarred from a battle raged long ago and by the holes in the ground that imply chemical corrosion took place here. We found the Nazi officer in that thinner hallway and ended up here as time went on. Now that I'm on the wall, I take off my cloak and mask before similarly taking off my armor. The floor shakes several times as I let the armor fall down to it. The knights laugh: "What's a knight without armor? A dead man!" "Who said I had to be a man or that a knight couldn't be someone other than one?" I pick up my shield which went down with my chestplate and motion my enemies to try me now. To the untrained eye, I am almost a blur as I now easily dodge their swings. As minutes go on, they grow more impatient as all I do is silently dodge their attacks even with my sword and shield both out. "Will you just fight us already?! This is annoying!" "No. Not until you are a credible and direct threat to my life. You guys are just making fools out of yourselves, just as fools who follow fascism so happily always should." "How dare you make a mockery out of us!" "I'm not trying to. You're the ones who can't even hit me or use the magic inside you to do it for you." "Fine! We'll cut you up until there is nothing left but a mass of flesh and bones on the ground that can't be identified! We'll kill you! As a threat to the greatest states in Miitopian history, you don't deserve to live, foreigner who isn't even from Miitopia! May you be punished for your sins!" They synchronize with each other to perform several Super Spin Slash attacks. I retaliate with: "Continuous Extremely Risky Spin Slash: 25!" The attack counters theirs but they cast some sort of spell that protects them. So I can't break through their defenses as easily as I thought. That's okay, my sword and shield aren't even dented yet. But then, a flurry of sword swings begins like several storms pushing against each other and forcing the monsters back far. It becomes hard to track who's attacking with what in the chaos.
swing* *swing* *slash* *stab* *visible bleeding* *dent* *clank* *clank* *slice* *slice* *swing* *swing* *duck* *kick* *roll* *Darkeye Slash* *Super Spin Slash* *Super Spin Slash x4* *Proud Protector* *bash* *backstab* *kick* *kneejab* *headlock* *throw* *slice* *slice* *slash* *stab* *slash* *stab* *dent* *debt* *clank* *clank* *clank* One of my foe's armor breaks under his clothing somehow but he doesn't give up. I'm bleeding but still going even with tears and wounds all over me. These knights are good. It's too bad they joined the wrong and cruel side. They'd be great comrades if they saw things our way. "You bastards are giving me a hard time so it's time I return the favor. Haaaaaaa! Continuous Extremely Risky Spin Slash: 150!" "Mana Barrier!" "Proud Protector!" "Berserk Sword!" "Super Spin Slash!* The men are blown back and hit the wall hard as their moves fail. I even hear some bones crack loudly. The one who lost his armor to damage cries out in pain: "You useless piece of meat! Sit right there and eat a HP banana already so you can be useful again for once! That's an order!" "But we were supposed to deliver them when we won here to the Grand Commander who has taken command since the Dark Sage's capture! Or Black Sage, whichever name works." "I don't care! The higher ups need to understand we need these too! Our enemies use them all the time and control where most of them are produced while we're forced to clone ours! I hate them so much! I should be up there in charge but I was overruled and stationed as a knight captain! I had my own perfect plans to advance Project Empire but they rejected them because they don't trust my judgement even though the Black Sage and I go back a long time! Do you hear me complaining often? No, just do your job and follow my orders!" Before anyone can react, I run right for the injured knight and pick him up by force after putting my shield around my left arm: "Duel disk, activate!" I sheath my sword as I bring the man with me to the other side of the room really quickly.
I press a button on the display where my life points would normally show. My enemy get condensed down into a card with his image on it: "I'll deal with you later" I pocket the carded individual. "What did you do to my former apprentice?! Tell me!" "Possibly only a pawn of fascism, I will tell you. But make no mistake, I won't let you capture or kill me today. I turned him into a card. He is now trapped in suspended animation in another realm due to this. In essence, he's immortal for now. Now to deal with you 3. I'm keeping you all alive until you admit to any and all harm you have done. If you've killed someone, you will only get one chance before I kill you and tell you the gruesome details before doing so. Those who selfishly inflict pain onto others or manipulate them greedily are the only ones who deserve to experience and suffer from pain. I wouldn't even necessarily call myself a hero. Justice? No, there is only reality and those who hurt and deserve to suffer if they cannot change and those who are hurting and deserve the help they need. Call me a vigilante or anti-hero if it makes you sleep at night. I think I will start doing so. You're my next targets, I do not bow to the whims of the state. I am as much as a pawn as you are. Difference is that I am defying the strings on me consciously. As long as greedy and manipulative individuals exist, we are all pawns because what they want and do influences or controls our every thought and action to some extent. I guess I could be called a hero but honestly, I'm just trying to liberate everyone from fascism. I'm trying to destroy the infection called systemic hatred. Society is sickening. People go about their lives hatefully, miserably, happily, or contently. It's disgusting. Bystanders doing nothing as everything goes to hell, bastards making it worse, victims hurt and distraught, and more. My wounds are no longer bleeding because they are clotting. Scabs will soon form from blood and fibrin." The fight continues from there. This time, I go for a more defensive strategy than before. I stand my ground against all attacks using my sword and shield to take in the damage and only move when the damage is wide or large for that to work.
The knights are no pushovers and are far from exhausted at this point. It takes 15 minutes before I'm forced to hold nothing back as they start cracking my shield. I put my shield on my back to begin running and dodging a lot more. But then, they managed to corner me to a wall. My duel disk shut off a while back. It's too bad my enemies have to be defeated to be carded. I am forced between a rock and a hard place as taking on 3 knights like this without being left room to dodge is extremely difficult. More and more cuts form around my body so my movements start to slow a little bit because of all of the pain. This is made worse by the fact that they keep attacking around my shoulders which affects my sword movements. Damn it. If this keeps up, I might actually die. They're so up in my face that I don't have room to jump up, dodge, or perform any of my special attacks. I pull my shield out from my back again and come up with a actually decent plan of action. Pushing them back by using my shield to bounce back some of the force they try to exert on me. But before I can try that out, one of them stabs me in the gut when I wasn't paying attention. I manage to stay upright and hold my ground but it hurts like hell. "What were you saying earlier? Don't remind us because you're bleeding and going to die soon no matter what you try! And our leader heard a rumor about teleportation so he sent some disgruntled mages who were kicked out of that guild to erect a barrier around this tower to prevent all forms of teleportation in or out of this place! No one is coming to save you! Your little woman friend is too busy with that useless commander over there to help you." I then hear a familiar voice along with some gunshot: "You pathetic men, I'm not just some little woman. I'm a fighter and member of the resistance that stands against this tower's cruel government!" 2 of the knights fall to the ground with wounds inflicted to their necks. I cough: "Thank you. *parries remaining opponent* But what about you know who?" "Oh, him. I got everything we need out of him but kept him alive. He's behind the genocide that happened here. I only left him alive so you can see me kill him."
"No need for that. Just kill him since he obviously shows no signs of wanting to change. I'm too busy trying to live over here to watch. Have you tried to get him to change?" "Yes I have but he's a stubborn fool who won't give up his obsessively hateful ideas of the world and beyond. There is no more mercy that I will give to him." "Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to use muscle memory now." "Okay, I trust you to finish them off. Those other 2 will be down for a couple more minutes. Their wounds are lethal or life threatening but they hurt a lot and barely evaded destroying part of their spinal cords." I hear a gunshot and a masculine scream of pain as I use my muscle memory to counter the knight captain's attacks while concentrating on my left eye. After that, I activate Artist's Eye after a few seconds and imagine a bandage wrapping around where I was stabbed in the gut. A bandage appears and before my eye starts tearing up and hurting a lot again, I hit the foe with my shield to knock him back. With that done, I hastily put my shield on my back before running to him as he recovers" from my attack. With my left hand, I punch him as I block a bunch of swings from him. And then, I proceed to pretend to slap him after making him drop his sword and pick it up by putting in an intense amount of effort into my sword swings for a few seconds. This slap was in fact a rouse hiding what I actually planned, using my power to conjure up a small broken piece of glass which I stab into the nearest part of his skin that is exposed to the elements. He falls right onto his sword and gasps: "Owww! What was that?! I demand you tell me! *vomits* Where did that come from?" I reply as I turn his companions into cards by doing the same thing as before: "That's a secret you won't ever know if you know what's good for you. *pockets the carded knights* I used to be opposed to turning others into cards but there are many things in life we just have to do even if it sacrifices our happiness and lifestyles like abandoning one's normal way of life to put everything on the line to destroy fascism. Now tell me, what have you done to others?"
"I give up. I can't win. I'm impaled on my own sword. *laughs excessively* I won't tell you anything! Even if I did, you'd be dead before you could tell any of your friends!" "Barla, I leave it to you to get this bastard to talk. Same procedure as before. But don't hurt him anymore or move him or take the sword out. There's a swarm of hungry monsters that have been waiting for the chance to hurt us ever since this genius decided that he and the 3 others would be enough to get us. Unfortunately for him, he was too cocky and is now getting destroyed for it." "Got it! Knight Captain, I'm going to enjoy playing with your feelings for all that you've clearly done. The only mercy is that I don't know if I will be killing your or not yet." My left eye is hurting a lot and tearing up. Damn it. Fighting these monsters is going to be so hard for that reason. But I must not lose faith, I cannot give up. We are going to deliver all the intel. We will survive this battle that is raging throughout the tower. I retrieve my armor, put my shield down, equip all my armor, put my shield back onto my back, and hold my sword high to issue a challenge to the monsters: "Come at me, monsters! I'm ready for this. As ready as I will ever be. *picks up and puts out mask and cloak* There, I'm all good now. Due to this, you will find me much harder to kill much less hurt now." A monster that looks like a huge portrait hisses: "We will exterminate you, radical human! Let's get him!" "Everyone I fight as an enemy just has to get who I am wrong. Every time. Not a he, monsters. I'm a they and you would do well to remember that. It might just let me take pity on some of you. It's too bad I can't be nice because you're clawing to hurt me and your bloodthirst implies that I can't peacefully settle our differences. In that case, I'll fight until you all can't or I can't." I'm then surrounded by a whole lot of monsters. So many that even if I screamed, it would fall on deaf ears. The monsters don't bother speaking either. There's no point when it's so loud in this room now that they're not cramped in a hallway nearby,
I can't recall the last time I saw so many monsters with such vicious expressions and desires. But I can't let that distract me. They're counting on Barla and I coming back in one piece with all the intel and captured enemies we can get. I think the structural integrity of this area is now compromised. The monsters don't attack me blindly. They know what they're doing. Almost as if Nazis trained them themselves. They weren't given any weapons because they are strong and terrifying. But I can't focus on taking down all of them until there's enough space for me to send out my attacks and my eye feels better. My mask is helping but that's not enough. I'm so not used to not rubbing my eyes when they hurt like this but my concentration is very strong so I'm able to despite some struggle. I set my sights in taking down that portrait. Once they fall, they may fall on and pin some monsters to the floor. The room is shaking from all the action but I think it will hold up for now. Fingers crossed that it does. I don't want to fall to my death and get crushed if the whole Skyscraper ends up destabilizing because of this. My armor takes on all monster attacks without so much as a few dents here and there. The organization of the monsters isn't just beneficial but it also reduces the damage dealt per second to me. They have all of their attention on me instead of Barla. That's a relief at least. The portrait monster immediately notices that most of my swings are directed towards them and tries to lull me in with magic: "No! As much as I love a nice classic and beautiful painting, I will not admire you! You're trying to hurt me! Better luck next enemy!" "Human, YOU!" The fight between me and the monsters goes on and keep on intensifying. I just keep blocking and tanking the attacks while trying to take the portrait down and any monsters that stand in the way of doing so. It's a lot of swinging. So much swinging that I won't even comment on it further. Things just keep getting more unstable with the room.
There are cracks forming on the walls and rustling sounds barely audible before getting so loud that it's all anyone can hear. My swings sound mute by comparison even as I knock more and more monsters out of commission. I slowly tire out while sweating from all of the action. Each of my swings is a formidable force alone with precision combined with speed, intensity, and acceleration to generate strong forces every single time I am able to go for multiple targets while staying fixated on defeating the portrait. It's like my sword is howling with sound as it cuts through air and slices through some smaller monsters, not killing them but knocking them out. There is a growing pile of defeated monsters behind and largely around me. I have to take careful steps to ensure I don't crush them when I believe they still have a chance of fighting for what's truly right instead. Because of all of my swinging and stuff, I feel the slight tickle of a teeny tiny bit of lactic acid. It will be a long while before I reach my limit because of how long that takes to build up if I'm not using any exhausting special attacks. I'm not so there you go. It seems that the monsters sized up my strength well and are taking no chances. The Nazis must have gave them what they had on me and my strength considering I held out against thousands of their rather incompetent men a while back. They must be going for an exhaust me strategy considering none of them are using any special attacks and my defense is solidified as something that will take a long time for them to actually break through. I then hear something that sounds like the wind except the wind is speaking in Multiversal Standard: "Young knight, you are the wind. You will know more when the time is right." That was random and cryptic. Why say that now instead of I don't know, when I was with Bray and Abstractoa trying to reverse the spaghettification of Ovenzilla? Oh well, I have to focus on taking these monsters down. If I can't get enough space to use my moves, I will fall while taking down as many as I can. If that's how I go, oh well I guess. For a few more minutes, the fight is on even as the now dead body of the knight captain is thrown in the middle of it and crushed to pieces.
That was the case until the shaking and cracking get even louder and worse. Out of fear, some of the monsters try retreating but this just makes it worse. No one can be heard as the floor collapses underneath us as the walls collapse as well before finally, the roof. Before any of us knew it, we were plummeting at an accelerating rate through the floors of the tower, bringing down more and more individuals with us to the ground, the only reason no one is dead yet is because of the falling even as dust from the structure makes it hard to see anything at all. No wonder it took so long to take to the top indoor floor earlier. This place is so damn tall. I underestimated that fact. Even though everything below us is becoming more and more of a blur, I know there is still some time before we fall into the bottom floor and the feeling of weightlessness and powerlessness ends. There is far too much noise to use Quantum Leap and the air resistance makes it impossible for me to manually activate my duel disk or get out Chaos. It becomes increasingly clear that the whole entire building is coming down with us as I start feeling the chilly air from outside as we continue to fall. Finally, we hit the bottom floor with a huge crash that is the last straw for Skyscraper. With that, we are all hurt and covered by rubble. And that was the untimely end of my time in that body. And the end of my anti-heroics in it. Or so I thought. "I'm still alive? But how?" Suddenly, the rubble trapping me is moved seemingly by itself. Dominic finds me: "Adam! So glad you're alive! Can't chat for long, it's a nap causation but, we're still fighting the Nazis. It's just that some of us had to come here as a rescue team. We don't know how many died but it's not looking good. It is so quiet here." I stand up after accepting his hand up. I gasp at the damage: "No way! It's all gone into ruin!"
Dominic sighs: "And that's not the only problem. Look up. It seems your investigations ended up turning into fierce battles that caused Skyscraper to collapse. I need a nap after this because now, Otherworld is going to fall onto much of Miitopia unless something is done. It'll knock down this place and Nimbus before crushing Powdered Peaks and more. The magic holding up Otherworld is failing. We'll have to rescue everyone dead and alive before I can fix Skyscraper to prevent its fall. But there's no time." I fall fall down as I clench my gut: "Damn it, my injuries from earlier haven't been treated. Crap. There's a lot of individuals who fell with me around here. I'll get them out." "Not until you eat an HP banana!" "I forgot mine." "What a nap causation! This is a serious causation to want a nap. Here, have one of mine. I only have 2 left besides it." "*accepts it and eats it* I feel much better now, thank you so much, my dear friend." "You're welcome! Now get to rescuing, this is so exhausting. The pressure is tiring me. But I will stay focused!" Dominic's increased focus almost makes me scared as he runs off to find more survivors and bodies. I spend 10 minutes helping rescue every one possible before Otherworld starts falling at an accelerating rate. Dominic groans and yells: "Stand back! I'll reform Skyscraper now. Someone, knock out those fascist mages over there frozen in shock! Do it or we'll be having headaches and bruises for weeks!" Despair from Twisted Land does it. Dominic says: "Thanks for that. We still haven't found everyone. Where are the 4 bounty hunters?" I give him the cards of 3 of them: "Where's the 4th, Adam?" "Crushed into pieces and probably smaller pieces by now, I'd imagine." After Dominic recreates Skyscraper and nearly loses consciousness from doing so, we realize that we have a lot of dead and severely injured individuals on our hands. All the monsters are dead. Barla is critically injured. Those are just some examples. A intense green light can be seen from a distance before it is followed by a explosion that ends in an instant. Bray appears: "We have crushed the invading Nazis again for now. That was just taken care of. Now, what do we have here?"
She gasps: "I shall get to sorting this right away with a lot of help. ATTENTION ALL COMRADES WHO CAN HEAL OTHERS, I need your help. Please report to Skyscraper's entrance immediately!" Bray used a spell to get that message all throughout Miitopia to who needs to hear it. And then, just like that, thousands of flowers, pop stars, clerics, and chefs appear ready to go. They along with Bray get to work while Dominic takes me and whoever else in the rebellion aren't seriously hurt if at all to the Miitopia BRAINS base. There, we tell him and others everything we have learned. And then, Bray comes over with great news as others bring in a lot of unconscious individuals who were previously severely injured or dead, monsters included: "Comrades. I shall bring you an update on the others. Some of our numbers are still fighting but all of us have been able to rest to fight for another day. We have saved everyone, Nazis included so we can question the Nazis who will be directed to that dimension for now. Thanks to quick thinking, we succeeded. If we had gotten there any later, the rift between this world and the afterlife would have closed on us and been nearly impossible to open back up. However, we as magic users have exhausted. I shall retire to my room early. Please help those who will be left here once the Nazis are taken away." With that, Bray and others end up going off to rest due to being so exhausted. Dominic raced after them while saying that they don't look so alive. In the meantime, we get a summary of what we learned in Skyscraper today as the others remain unconscious. The government of Skyscraper was funding a giant air force and navy to destroy us and any other "threats" to what we also learned: the plan to unite Miitopia under one banner and one Nazi government. Okay, we sort of knew that already but we learned how they planned on doing that. Dominic later returned and explained that they were all okay now.
Here's what else we learned. Skyscraper's government was killing dissenters and those it didn't like by several methods at once in the top levels of Skyscraper. Additionally, there was a prison for those in queue to be killed. There have been experiments to combined miis and monsters together in an attempt to create a new Dark Lord vessel for their supreme leader to take possession of. Such experiments are still being conducted in Nimbus and New Lumos. There was also a plan to destroy the rebellion in Skyscraper. The official figures of monster and Nazi personal count were also uncovered: 39876 monsters and 7891 Nazis actually roamed in Skyscraper before it crumbled and fell apart. That also lead to the discovery that Nazis had persuaded nearly every Miitopian monster outside of Realm Of The Fey to join their cause, multiplying their forces by several times for now on. The intel on the 2 knight organizations was unexpected. The pro monarchist one is loyal to the new Neksdor king, Jack. He ascended the throne after the Nazis assassinated his parents, wanting a selfish jerk like him on the throne instead. His parents were reluctant to work with the Nazis but had no choice to considering they also didn't like anyone the Nazis happened to hate. That and the knights who swore to protect them ditched them. Our "bad". They have a force of 204 knights while the other one has 961 knights. That other one serves the Nazi supreme leader personally and many are assigned to hurt anyone they don't like and are authorized to lead executions and more. And that's basically it. After that was gone over, the monsters, miis, and rebellion members of Skyscraper woke up, were informed of stuff, and returned to Skyscraper to rebuild together. Some of the monsters would go on to cause trouble but most decided to work with the miis because the Nazis forced them to work for them and they wanted to make up for what they had done under the orders of the Nazis. Pretty much everyone got healed with their gear repaired if needed following their leave. With that done, we all ate as it had been so long since we did just as the others returned from a successful defense against the Nazis. The last order of business besides training was setting up patrols for Skyscraper so we did that. I fell asleep just happy to still be alive.
Outro: I certainly wasn't expecting to be satisfied with how much I wrote considering I almost went for making it significantly longer than this. But hey, I'm working on my fighting scenes and really liking how it turned out with the fight against the knights in this one. Seriously, that is among my best. I should have factored in that most fights are mostly clashes instead of mostly words and big attacks. Oh well, I'm doing it now and it feels good. But seriously. Fascism must be crushed for all our sakes. I'm not making this story solely out of the love of Miitopia. I'm making it for a reason that isn't fun. I've stated it in some ways before so let me make it clear. Miitopia happens to be a land where inequality clearly exists. The game features a huge king that eats a lot of huge pieces of meat. And then there's the Desert Celebrity who owns a lot of gold. We see this when the Genie in the lamp is coaxed into changing their ways and returns the treasure after almost being sealed back into their lamp. We also see hatred within the Dark Curse's backstory. The same general kind Naruto got before he saved Konoha by convincing Pain to change his mind on things. That's one part of it. The other is that fascism is a threat to all life on this planet. It's full on contradictions, lies, threats, hatred, bullying, and more. I want to spread awareness of it through this story. Much like how Pmurt Nedib spouts American Nazi rhetoric, the Nazis of Miitopia are doing exactly what the Republican Party is doing but along with the even more blatant genocide part. If you think society is perfect and that there's nothing wrong about it besides those who defy it, I have some choice words. You are a pawn allowing millions to get killed as you complain about false oppression you claim society in inflicting onto you. If you are straight, you aren't being oppressed for being straight. If you're Christian, you aren't being oppressed for being Christian. If you're not trans or gender non conforming, you aren't being oppressed for your gender if you're a man. And so on.
