Chapter eighteen: The provisional license exams part one
The Day of the provisional license exams had come at long last, and the first year hero course students of UA arrived at the test sight, Takoba National Stadium. As Class 1-A got off of their bus, Aizawa looked on at them in consideration; thanks to All Might sharing some information he got due to having memories of an alternate timeline, UA was able to come up with a foolproof plan to maximize the safety of the students competing in the provisional licence exams in order to earn their provisional licenses and thus taking one step closer to becoming pro heroes.
There were actually three different stadiums being used for the exams, and each got a comparable number of hero academy students. The count that Aizawa last heard was going to be at Takoba (counting the UA students) was fifteen-hundred and forty; multiply that by three and you get four-thousand six-hundred and twenty. There were simply that many hero academy students in Japan all aiming to get their provisional licences. But due to how the business can be a bit on the cutthroat side, over half of the competing students are expected to fail.
But that's not the point. The point is that the plan to grant as much of a measure of protection and safety to the students as possible involved making one of the three stadiums seem as much of a hot-spot as possible, then send the students to a different one of the stadiums. If Dabi and his crew all attack the decoy stadium, Aizawa and the other hero academy teachers will have time to evacuate the students as they'll hear of it with time to spare. If Dabi decides to split his forces up to hit each of the stadiums, Aizawa and the other hero academy teachers will be able to deal with what all villains attack Takoba while granting the students time to escape.
It was as the underground hero was going over the plan in his mind that he was approached by Sekijiro. "Hey Aizawa," Sekijiro began, getting Aizawa's attention, "How do you think things will go?"
Aizawa let out a sigh. "Even the best case scenario will still see my students at one anothers' throats, and that's assuming the villains fail to attack Takoba at all." Looking over at where Class 1-A stood after some boys from Shiketsu High School was shooed away, the class seemed divided up into multiple groups, two not fond of one another and the third remaining neutral.
As the two UA teachers looked on in concern, a familiar female voice called out to Aizawa, "Hey Shouta! You, me, and the others had things about that prick Endeavor right on the money!" Aizawa and Sekijiro both turned to see Emi, otherwise known as the pro hero Ms. Joke, come walking up to them.
"The investigation done by the government, in addition to blowing the lid on what all the now villain Endeavor had done," Aizawa said, "Had also blown the lid on what all the HPSC had done. I always had a hunch that the HPSC had grown way too corrupt."
Looking around, Emi said, "Wow, there are a LOT of hero academy students here. Hopefully the villains won't get wise, I'd hate to see that steel-skinned multi-armed colossus show up."
"We have reason to believe that one of UA's first year hero course students may be able to parley with Usagi the Rabbit-Earred Giantess," Aizawa said, "But Nezu insists we first confirm without taking any sort of gambles if the parley is in fact possible."
Emi shuddered a bit. "Just referring to that villainess by name and title together makes her sound like a world boss in a JMMORPG. It's a good thing I've been able to clock in a borderline unhealthy amount of time in Last Adventure Fourteen Online. I'm in the same alliance as Tensei Iida aka Ingenium."
Gesturing to Emi, Aizawa said, "That... is interesting. Anyway, we ought to go get some seats so we can watch things."
Emi, with a sly and amused look on her face, remarked, "Me oh my, Shouta! Are you asking me out?"
"No," Aizawa said, "We, that being Sekijiro and I, actually need to discuss a few things with you, mainly how All Might has word that the villains have another giant elite at their beck and call, one that All Might reasons can make even Usagi look tame." Emi could tell right away that Aizawa was being serious, which was further backed by Sekijiro nodding in agreement. Emi then decided to do something she seldom ever does; be serious.
Nodding once to Aizawa, Emi said, "Yeah, if there's a threat even greater than Usagi, I ought to be clued in on it." The underground hero was glad to hear Ms. Joke take a serious tone, as when they had the privacy of the bleachers while watching the provisional licence exams, he and Sekijiro planned to clue Emi in on what all Toshinori had been able to tell them about Felgrand the Dragon of Destruction.
As that was happening, the Class 1-A students stood around waiting to go in. "Wow, there really are a lot of students here," Izuku said, "There's ones from Shiketsu, a few from Ketsubutsu, a number from Seiai Academy, some from Seijin High. We have a lot of work ahead of us, it would seem."
Shinso nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Midoriya. It might be tough."
"You can just tattle on some of them to get them in trouble," Mina spat, catching Shinso's attention, "It worked well enough before for you, didn't it?"
"Ashido, now is not the time to get up in anyone's face like that," Tenya said, "We may need to work together today if we want to pass."
Gulping nervously, Ochaco said, "He's got a point. We need to-"
"Oh you have GOT to be kidding me!" a haughty female voice called out, cutting Ochaco off and making her and the other Class 1-A students all turn to see some female students from another hero academy standing there. They were all the textbook definition of beautiful by conventional standards, with hero outfits more akin to what Uwabami wears. The lead girl was fair-skinned, had a lovely and flawless face, and wore an elegant dress that wouldn't be out of place in one of the many commercials that Uwabami produces for her products.
"Oh, I recognize you," Yaoyorozu spoke up, getting the blonde girl's attention, "You were one of the interns working under Uwabami when Kendo and I worked for her."
The blonde girl smirked in amusement. "Well I'm glad that at least some of the girls UA has pass for appealing."
Instantly, Yaoyorozu's eyes narrowed. "...What do you mean?"
Pointing at the other Class 1-A girls, a brunette girl with the blonde girl said, "Do you seriously not see the creepy looking wide-eyed weirdo with the long dark hair, or the total fatass standing next to her?" Both Tsuyu and Ochaco looked shocked and a little hurt to have been targeted in such a manner.
"Excuse you!" Mina shouted instantly at the beautiful girls, "But where in the hell do you get off?! There's no damn excuse for insulting Asui and Uraraka like that!"
Scoffing bitterly, Jiro said, "You girls must be from that hero academy that Uwamabi had founded a few years ago."
Nodding once, the blonde girl said, "Yes, we are indeed students at the Uwabami beautiful hero school of heroic beauty, where the importance of being heroic while looking good is taught."
Pointing at Tsuyu and Ochaco, the brunette girl said, "No way a creepy looking weirdo or a total lardload would ever get in."
Over where Tokoyami stood, Dark Shadow poked out and went up to whisper into Tokoyami's ear, "Those girls are badmouthing Asui. Permission to kill them, Fumi."
"Not... here at least," Tokoyami whispered back, making his sentient quirk slink back up inside him.
"Hey!" Hagakure snapped, "Just because they aren't up to the standards of your school doesn't mean they don't pass for appealing!"
"Yes it does," the brunette girl said flatly, "There's no way either of those two uglies would make it as pro heroes, much less ever land a guy."
Dark Shadow slinked back out of Tokoyami and went up to whisper into his ear. "They underestimate you, Fumi. They know not that you've got your heart set on courting Asui."
"Don't speak words of that while we're in public, Dark Shadow," Tokoyami whispered back, once more making Dark Shadow go back into him.
Over at where the girls were at, Jiro said, "Hey! They are NOT ugly! And they can totally score with the guys!"
Scoffing indifferently, the blonde girl said, "Mark my words, ladies. If you aren't beautiful by the standards of the Uwabami beautiful hero school of heroic beauty, then you'll never make it as a heroine." The blonde girl and her group then took off, laughing haughtily as they did so.
After the girls from the Uwabami school took off, Yaoyorozu said, "What was with those girls?!" Turning to look at Ochaco and Tsuyu, Yaoyorozu said, "As much as the other girls in class and I aren't appreciative on how you left us out to dry, we'd never go so far as to blatantly insult you on-" Yaoyorozu stopped short when she, as well as Jiro, Mina, and Hagakure, all saw that Ochaco and Tsuyu looked upset.
"...Girls..." Ochaco said, sounding upset and looking utterly dejected, "Am... Am I really ugly?" The gravity girl slowly rubbed her hands down over her very considerable belly. "I know full well that I'm undeniably very fat, but... but will that really keep me from... from..." Tears slowly ran down the plump cheeks of Ochaco's face.
"I... I always had a feeling that I was kind of a weird girl kero," Tsuyu said, tears also running down the sides of her face, "But to be straight up told that to my face... it's bad enough that I lost my parents, my little siblings went missing, and at least Satsuki had gone villain with a strong possibility that Samidare had done the same. But being reminded that I'm not gonna be wining any beauty pageants kero..."
Gesturing to Ochaco and Tsuyu, Mina said, "Forget those petty shallow bitches, you two. You both are cute and desirable, and will totally make it big with the guys!" Looking to the boys in Class 1-A, Mina said, "You agree with me, right boys?"
Izuku was surprised to see that Mina, Jiro, Hagakure, and Yaoyorozu were so quick to come to the defense of Ochaco and Tsuyu, despite how moments beforehand the four of them were so untrusting of the other two. "Yeah, they're both cute," Izuku remarked, his voice clearly fully confident when he spoke.
"The actions and words of those girls from the Uwabami hero school are the height of deplorable," Tenya said, "Straight up calling Asui and Uraraka ugly to their faces. They ought to be reported!"
Pointing at Tsuyu, Bakugo said, "I'm more concerned about what Frog Face here said about how her little brother may also potentially be a villain. Where in the hell did that come from?"
"Oh," Tsuyu said, "Midoriya's dad and a few teachers got intel suggesting that Samidare not only is with Dabi same as Satsuki, but that Samidare is also far more of a threat than Satsuki."
The rest of Class 1-A went wide-eyed with shocked alarm. "...Kind of wished that my dad shared this with us," Izuku said, "I mean, we all saw your little sister on TV, Tsu. We know how much of a threat she can pose. But now we're hearing it that not only is your little brother also most likely a similar kind of villain, but that he's an even greater threat than your little sister?"
"I sure as hell hope the villains don't attack the provisional license exams here and bring Asui's little siblings with them," Sato said, "I think it'd be safe to say we'd all be utterly screwed otherwise."
Popping out of Tokoyami, Dark Shadow said, "Maybe not. See, Asui is their older sister. Maybe she can reason with them, or at least make them take pause."
Nodding once, Tsuyu said, "Then I have all the more reason to pass here." The Class 1-A students re-affirmed their conviction to pass the provisional licence exams, and as a group proceeded to make their way into Takoba National Stadium.
However, partway there they ran into Class 1-B. "Well well well!" Monoma said, "If it isn't the spotlight hogs! First you guys gain false glory in the news by surviving the attack on the USJ, then three of your number take all the podium spots in the sports festival for our year, then you get noticed for helping with the initial capture of the Hero Killer, and then it turns out that one of you is All Might's kid! You sorry lot sure love bathing in the spotlight, don't you?"
"We... aren't exactly in the mood for this right now, Monoma," Izuku said, hoping his unamused tone will get the message across, "We just had a bad run-in from some girls from the hero school that Uwabami founded, and they soured our moods."
"Oh, what's this now?" Monoma taunted, "Don't tell me that All Might's boy is-"
*CHOP*
Monoma was cut off by a chop to the back of his head from Itsuka. Looking at Class 1-A apologetically, Itsuka said, "I am so sorry about Monoma just now. I'm also sorry about those girls from the Uwabami school, Yaoyorozu and I worked with some of them when we interned under Uwabami."
Gesturing to Itsuka, Yaoyorozu said, "Maybe we ought to report them. I'm pretty sure Uwabami herself would be disgusted to hear what some of the girls from the heroics academy she founded had been up to."
Itsuka nodded in agreement. "Yes, we ought to do that later, after the provisional licence exams." The two classes from UA wished one another the best of luck before they all headed on into Takiba National Stadium to take the provisional licence exams. They would be giving things their all, even though there would be more people at the exams here than ever. Regardless, they would need to do what the could when they could, as there was more than just their future careers as pro heroes on the line.
Inside of an exam room which was way more crowded than normal, the exam takers were met by a group of people from the HPSC, a selection of some of the VERY few people from the HPSC who got through the purge of the organization sanctioned by the Japanese government; those who remained in the HPSC after said government mandated purge could actually be trusted. And one of said people, the man leading things there, was one Yokumiru Mera, a sleep-deprived man who looked to the kids of UA Class 1-A as being even more sleep deprived than Aizawa at his worst.
According to Mera, out of the four-thousand six-hundred and twenty exam takers, about only three-hundred will take the actual exams. There were multiple factors for this; All Might retiring, the rise in criminal and villainous activity, Endeavor going villain with reports some of his old sidekicks are joining him, more elite villains making their debuts, and what's left of the HPSC after it was purged and absorbed by the government being worked more than ever. The HPSC, or what remained of it, felt that only the best will do to help hero society get back on track.
The first part of the exams, therefore, would see each exam taker put three targets on themselves, as well as six balls to hit the targets on other exam takers. If all of one exam taker's targets are lit up, that exam taker is disqualified from the exams, and the person who lit the last target is considered the one who took them down. The idea here is that this will continue until only the necessary three-hundred exam takers remain, although Mera said he hopes that all those who pass can take out at least two other exam takers each before the exams continue.
After everyone got their targets on and got their balls, they were surprised that the walls of the room they were in fell away, revealing that they were in an incredibly large, open-air stadium, with more than enough space for all of them to run wild in. As the students down in the arena began, up in the bleachers Aizawa and Sekijiro watched with Emi as they were joined by Hizashi, Nemuri, and Ryo. "Heh, you guys at UA kind of shoot yourselves in the foot with your yearly sports festival," remarked Emi, "It tells everyone in Japan, including students at other hero schools, about what all they can do."
"Yes, I heard of what you're implying at," Ryo said, "An unofficial tradition of the provisional licence exams called the 'crushing of UA'."
"Part of being a hero requires one to be able to pull themselves out of a pinch whenever they get into one," Aizawa said, "It could be-"
*BOOM*
Aizawa stopped short when a massive explosion went off in the bleachers at one of the far ends of the stadium. Turning to look, Aizawa and the others with him saw black smoke rise up into the skies above, fouling the air with cinder and fume. Even the vast majority of the students taking part in the exams (an estimated ninety-one point six percent of the forty-six-hundred some odd students) took pause when that explosion occurred, although they were all thinking that it was nothing more than a part of the provisional licence exams.
It wasn't until a whole army of Twices began swarming in, multiplying in number as it did so, that Izuku down in the arena yelled, "This is a real villain attack!"
The immediate response of the hero academy students was... mixed, actually. Some began panicking especially when select members of Dabi's Crew began popping up, while other students decided to attack the horde of Twice clones. As for all of the hero academy teachers, they immediately went into action to fight the villains, although the Twice clones also kept the hero academy teachers occupied as well. Aizawa, as he rushed in with the five who were sitting with him, was figuring from what he was seeing that Dabi's Crew came to Takoba in full force.
"Damn it!" the underground hero swore loudly as he and the others with him rushed the Twice clones ahead, "Our plan to distract the villains failed! We need to-" Aizawa was cut off when someone snuck up behind him and clamped a quirk-suppressing collar around his neck, firmly locking it in place and suppressing his Erasure quirk, before kicking him away with a foot shove to the back. As Aizawa recovered while the others with him took out a few of the Twice clones, he saw that it was Spinner who had thrown the quirk suppressing collar around his neck.
But the lizardman villain wasn't confronting the six heroes alone. Dabi himself was also there, as was Toga, Rappa, Mr. Compress, and Nagant. "Well well well," Dabi said, "I take it that you guys are here to see your darling little students take a big step to becoming heroes?"
"You guys are the villains from the training camp attack," Hizashi scowled, "What do you think you're doing here?"
Gesturing to the heroes, Dabi said, "As you guys ought to know, when the Crew and I visited the camp, we came by to pick up the Yaoyorozu heiress from her playdate. Then, after we had used the girl for what we needed, we would wait until Endeavor got to a high enough level of position and reputation in Japan before we go after his baby boy who's one of the Yaoyorozu girl's playmates at UA daycare."
"So you're after Todoroki," Sekijiro said.
"Yes, but due to the temper tantrum that Endeavor had thrown because his dirty laundry was aired and all of his privileges were taken away," Mr. Compress began to explain, "Dabi had been forced to take his plans in a different direction."
"For now, we're just going to grab Endeavor's boy and use him as bait to try and lure that flaming sack of shit out of hiding," Dabi said, "Hopefully, there's still enough left in Endeavor for him to care about his crown jewel creation he essentially forced himself onto his wife for in a bid to surpass All Might."
Pointing at Aizawa and the others, Toga said, "We're gonna have lots of fun together while Jin and all of his clones keep the students busy while trying to find Endeavor's kid for Dabi! But Jin isn't working that job alone!"
Aizawa scowled angrily at the villains. "So you guys are planning to kidnap Todoroki this time. And what do you mean when you say your fellow and his clones won't be working alone when trying to find Todoroki?"
"We're bringing in Usagi," Spinner said, setting a degree of alarm into the hearts of the heroes, "Gonna let her rampage. We're also going to let Dabi's other ultimate bodyguard that our late boss had prepped for him have fun here."
"You mean Felgrand," Aizawa remarked, drawing suspicious looks out of the villains.
Pointing at the Blood Hero, Dabi said, "Yes, and what I'd like to know is how you heroes found out. I mean, we confirmed that our spy hadn't turned traitor against us, Felgrand used one of his quirks to help confirm that. So where's the leak coming from?"
"None of your business, villains!" Emi said, "I have no idea where the sexy hunk of mancake that is Shouta got the intel from, but I'm going to trust him and his colleagues at UA!"
"Emi, now's not exactly the time to flirt with me," Aizawa pointed out, although some of the villains did get a chuckle out of Emi's flirtatious tone towards Aizawa.
As the villains closed in to fight them, the heroes backed up a few steps. "Nemuri," Hizashi began, "What's the odds of you being able to whip up some of your sleep smoke?"
"Not likely until we knock Dabi out," Nemuri replied, "Part of why Iida and Todoroki did so well against me in the practicals of the finals is because, as it turns out, my sleep smoke is highly flammable and combustible. Once Todoroki discovered that on accident, things became a breeze for him and Iida. Also, heat and fire makes a person knocked out from my sleep smoke wake up more quickly. And even IF there was no risk, the smoke can't exactly be controlled, meaning you and the others with us will also be hit. Girls take longer and more effort to go down, so Ms. Joke and I will be alone against the crazy blonde girl and Lady Nagant after the men pass out."
Looking to Emi, Hizashi said, "Ms. Joke?"
Gently shaking her head, Emi explained, "Nagant is too far out of range for me, she can snipe me if I try using my quirk on any of her allies here." Gesturing to Aizawa, Emi went on, "And there's also how Shouta's got that quirk suppressing collar down around his neck."
"Yeah, we can't risk Eraserhead disabling either Usagi or Felgrand," Spinner said, "Or any of us for that matter." The heroes confronting Dabi's team realized that they were at something of a disadvantage here; with Aizawa's quirk suppressed and the two ladies unable to cut loose, they were stuck until they somehow got or made a lucky opening for them to break through. As such, none of them would be able to go down into the arena to help rescue the students and get all of them out of there so that the villains could be dealt with.
...
Down in the arena, the students competing in the provisional licence exams had stopped trying to throw balls at each other, although before the villains began their attack on the stadium, some targets were hit. But the important thing was that the students dropped what they were doing in order to deal with the situation that's just been dropped right into their laps.
"We need to evacuate!" Yo Shindo from Ketsubutsu called out, "This is a real villain attack! We ought to get out of here and let the pro heroes handle things here!"
"The villains obviously won't let us escape!" Inasa Yoarashi of Shiketsu called back, "We need to fight our way out!" Inasa then used his wind quirk to propel himself forward to fight some of the many Twice clones, blowing a strong wind behind him that kicked up a lot of dust.
Izuku could have sworn he heard Monoma of Class 1-B call out to his classmates to act, but the winds from Inasa were so strong and blowing fiercely that he could't see well or hear anything. After the winds settled down, Izuku called out, "Is everyone alright?"
Nodding once, Shinso said, "Yeah, Midoriya! But I say we follow what the guy from Ketsubutsu said and-"
Shinso was cut off when one of the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school pointed at something as she called out, "There's a giant swirling portal over there!"
Many of the hero students turned to see it as, off in the distance in the arena, a swirling portal appeared at something of a leaning forward angle; the Class 1-A students recognized it as the work of the mist villain who had been part of the villain attack on the USJ, and was now part of the group of villains headed up by Dabi. The portal grew larger and wider, until eventually it reached what looked to be its max size. Many of the hero academy students worried what the portal appearing like that would be meaning for them as they fought to just survive the villain attack on the provisional licence exams.
The hearts of almost all of the hero academy students sank when they saw Usagi the Rabbit-Earred Giantess jump out of the portal and land in the arena, rising to her full height of fifteen-hundred plus centimeters after she landed in a crouching position. The steel-skinned, multi-armed colossus gleamed in the light of the sun that was over Takoba National Stadium. Usagi then looked around the stadium for a bit before she turned to face a direction away from where the UA students were and stomped off, apparently looking for something.
...Or someone.
"Shit, it's the giant villainess from the attack on the training camp and the Battle of Kamino Ward," Itsuka swore under her breath. To the surrounding hero students, Itsuka called out, "That's Usagi over there! We to-"
"-Defeat that giant villain!" the blonde girl from the Uwabami hero school declared, "Defeating such a foe will surely go a long way to proving ourselves!"
"Are you crazy?!" Yo Shinso shouted at the blonde girl, "There's no way we can take Usagi! We need to avoid her at all costs!"
As a shouting match between Yo and the blonde girl began, Tsuyu stepped forward. "...Actually kero," Tsuyu spoke up, "I... I think we should try to confront Usagi."
Gesturing to Tsuyu, the brunette girl from the Uwabami beautiful hero school said, "See? The creepy looking weirdo agrees with us!"
Pointing at Yo, the blonde girl said, "If you average looking folks from Ketsubutsu are too cowardly to do hero work, then just stand aside and let those who are brave enough to do what's needed do their job!"
"...If you girls are going to go confront Usagi," Yaoyorozu said to the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school as she stepped forward, "Then at least take me and my peers with you. We can be of help."
"Yaoyorozu, no," Itsuka said, "The villains who are attacking are the same ones who kidnapped you from the training camp, and you want to go confront them?! What if they try taking you again?!"
Gesturing to Tsuyu, Yaoyorozu explained, "Asui here has a plan that ought to-"
"Oh no no no no no," a black haired girl from the Uwabami beautiful hero school said, "We are NOT taking any uglies with us to go confront Usagi! The only people who should be allowed to stand out and shine here today are those who are attractive and therefore worth something!"
"She's got a point," a redhaired girl from the Uwabami beautiful hero school said, "Why should beautiful people share any spotlight with uglies?"
Pointing at the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school, Mina said, "First off, stop fucking calling Asui, and Uraraka for that matter, ugly! They ain't ugly! Second, Yaoyorozu has a point on how Asui will be invaluable in confronting Usagi! You need to trust us on this!"
Pointing right back at Mina, the blonde girl said, "Only beautiful people deserve to be in the spotlight and receive adoration! If any uglies try coming with us to confront Usagi, I'll beat them back!"
"...Yaoyorozu," Tsuyu said, getting her wealthy classmate's attention. "...You remember what all I told you and the other girls about my folks, right kero?"
Yaoyorozu, looking like she was remembering something, nodded once in the affirmative, realizing that Tsuyu was actually asking her if she remembered the names of her little siblings. "Yes, Asui."
"It'll help you and the others," Tsuyu remarked, her tone a bit sad, as she relented and allowed the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school to run things as they wanted, as they clearly wouldn't let anything run otherwise.
A smug look of satisfaction on her face, the blonde girl remarked, "It's satisfying to see it when ugly people learn their place." The blonde girl then led her peers from the Uwabami beautiful hero school to go confront Usagi. A guilty looking Yaoyorozu, with Itsuka following along behind her, went as well.
After those girls were gone, Jiro screamed, "What the hell is wrong with those bitches?! What, is their word the end all be all final judgment on if a girl looks good or not?!"
Poking out from Tokoyami, Dark Shadow whispered into his ear, "Fumi, with all of the chaos going on right now, you could make the deaths of those petty girls either look like an accident or make it look like the work of the villains."
"Dark Shadow, no," Tokoyami scolded firmly.
END, CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the provisional licence exams kick off, with a lot of extra security measures taken to try and let the hero academy students compete safely to try and earn their provisional licences. 'Try and let' being the operative phrase here as the villains somehow got it right that everyone would be at Takoba, and as such Dabi and all of his Crew show up and attack the festivities barely a little bit into the ball and target portion into the exams. Loads of Twice clones have spread out, Usagi drops in, and there's even worse things to come.
As a side note, a story-original hero school founded by Uwabami appears in this chapter, the students of said school all girls of the vain petty pretty type. Those girls decide that Ochaco and Tsuyu are ugly and proceed to deride them, making the other Class 1-A girls stand up to them. The confidence of Ochaco and Tsuyu are shot, and even keep from trying to help confront Usagi when the blonde girl leading the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school ban all 'uglies' from trying to take any of the glory that would come with confronting and defeating Usagi.
That... will come to bite the girls from the Uwabami beautiful hero school on their butts in the next chapter, given that Tsuyu actually does have an advantage that will let her parley with Usagi, as well as Usagi's big brother when he shows up in the next chapter and goes full force. Usagi and her brother will make quite an impact soon.
