Meaning: Nature, confidence

She's seen several of his performances before, even been a part of one or two as covert ops, but somehow it never ceases to amaze her.

The way he cuts through the air like a bright, radiant sword. How he so effortlessly throws the audience a smile, sometimes even a wink, while suspended in midair by nothing but the strength of his calves and the rope of the trapeze.

There's no net, no partner to catch him if he falls, but he doesn't care. He has no plans to fall, not tonight. If anything, the chance of death just ups the thrill of the game.

Because that's what this is to him. A game.

She remembers when he talked her into giving it a try; she clasped her eyes closed and kept her body rigid as stone the whole time, declaring she would turn him into a sheep if he let go of her arms for even a second. She was terrified. To anyone else, this would be the scariest thing in the world.

But to him, this is second nature.

He was born to fly. And more importantly, possibly even more so than her, he was born to perform.

All eyes rest on him in the center of the ring, and their gazes do nothing to bring him down. The adrenaline, the high, it's what he lives on.

He's an addict, a thrill-seeker, and she knows she should stay away from him. She knows those aren't traits she should look for in her boyfriend, but she can't say no. Because deep down, she's the same.

It's in his nature. It's who he is, and nothing will ever change that.

It's part of why he's always one of the first to volunteer for a mission that holds no guarantee of his survival. Why he throws himself off tall buildings with nothing but a grapple to cover his fall.

Hell, it's probably why he dates her. That in itself is a massive risk, but he chases it. He chases her, because nobody can give him as big a rush as she can.

And she honestly feels the same. He's like a firecracker; he makes everything so hot. Whether it be crimefighting, teaching, sex, or performing.

The circus is honestly nothing special to her. Firebreathers, strongmen, archers, she's seen it all before. Hell, she works with people who can do all that on a daily basis. But this...he's what makes it the greatest show on Earth.

Performing runs through his blood, and she doesn't think she's ever seen him more at home than when he's smiling under the spotlight.
