Meaning: Youthfulness, first love
"Ugh, no. This sweater does not match with these pants. Egnahc nagidrac." With a puff of smoke, Zatanna's green vest morphed into a dark purple cardigan. She smiled, twirling around to check herself out in the mirror before turning to Artemis, who was lying down on her bed, visually exhausted. "So? Whaddya think?"
The archer looked up from her phone to her best friend. "I think if you change one more time, I'm gonna shoot you." The magician rolled her eyes.
"Come on, Artemis! This is our first real date, and I need it to be perfect."
"I thought you two were going out before you joined."
"Who told you that?"
She shrugged, turning back to her phone. "He did."
Zatanna cocked her head to the side and bit her lip. "Well, it wasn't really…w-we called them kidnappings."
"Whatever."
"Those didn't count. A-and we were never really, like, a thing back then, y'know? But now, this is our first real date date, like as a couple, and I really need it to go well."
"Mhm."
"Artemis, help me out here!" Zatanna crossed her arms and shifted her weight to one foot sassily, and Artemis rolled her eyes with a tired sigh and finally shut off her phone.
"What are you so worried about? You look like a goddess. Plus, he can't see two feet in front of himself when he's around you."
The younger girl looked down somberly, and Artemis crawled over to the side of the bed, reaching out to place a hand on her shoulder. "It'll be fine."
"How do you know that?"
"Because you and only you have a surefire way to get him to like you." Zatanna looked at her, nonverbally requesting an explanation, and the blonde smiled. "You just gotta be yourself."
Their eyes found their way to each others', and a flicker of worry passed from her blue irises to the archer's grey. "But who is that, really?"
She bit her bottom lip and shrugged. "Well, if you were asking me, I'd say it's a kickass magician who takes names and is just dripping with sass. Oh, and happens to be the sexiest girl I know, and is in love with this idiot who runs around in red spandex."
"It's not spandex."
"Oh, come on. Have you seen how tight it fits on him? It's spandex." Zatanna and Artemis shared a laugh, and the archer extended her arms out for the magician to graciously fall into, returning a heartfelt embrace and smiling from ear to ear.
"Thank you." Her best friend smiled back.
"Anytime. Now go blow his mind."
She chuckled. "Will do." They finally pulled apart from one another, and Zatanna stepped back before looking into the mirror one last time to examine her outfit. "Do these pants make my ass look big?"
Artemis groaned and grabbed her wrist, practically dragging her out of her guest room in the cave and preparing to shut the door behind her. "Your ass looks great. Now shut up and get lost."
Zatanna smirked and reached back to give her best friend one last hug before turning on her heels and walking over to the Zeta tube, a bounce in her step and an eager grin on her face. Artemis watched her stalk off with a soft smile before shutting the door and walking back over to her bed.
"That ass really is fucking amazing. Ugh, I'm turning into Wally now." She turned on her phone to see her wallpaper, a photo of the speedster with her on their first date, and her smile widened. "Go get 'im, Tanna."
