Jaune's heart pounded and his chest ached as he raced through the streets of Vale, desperate to escape the attackers of Cinders organization. He took deep breaths and turned down an alley.

His eyes found an alley, and he moved dodging gunfire and sprinting as fast he could. His blood boiled, these people disrupted his peace. A whisper he hadn't heard in months called to him as he turned and faced the men who were chasing him, their guns were levelled at his chest and Jaune drew his sword, the men readied their weapons. Somehow, Jaune knew what he was doing, and he heard it a voice from beyond himself, beyond reality.

"Grant me your blade, and your heart, and I will grant you power, leave behind humanity, and you may yet save your beloved." The voice called, the whispers echoed above the sounds of combat.

The blade in his hand shone in the moonlight.

"I will not lose her, you may have it." Jaune whispered beneath the noise and suddenly, he found his blood coming to a boil, his eyes sharpened as his pupils contracted and he lifted the blade in his hands, then as the bullets whizzed at him, he faced the flat of his blade. The lead glanced off the weapon and he swung, the strike hitting the man in the chest sending him flying, the second blow the huntsman swung ripped through a man's arm.

Blood had covered the young huntsman, as he slowly approached the last man. The hands of the gunman shook, his eyes darting from one of his downed comrades to the other.

Jaune spoke slowly and confidently, "Grab your men, leave, do not return." He sheathed the blade on his back and turned then began his running again.

His boots carried him past building and across the sidewalks of the city, the old concrete was blackened by the constant treading of boots and shoes. The city to Jaune was now unsafe, now it was a warzone. He knew after all of this commotion Cinder's group would pull her from the city and place her somewhere else, Jaune knew time was critical.

"You now wield my power, adhere to my words closely, you are now a warrior built for combat, you must harden your heart, train yourself. I have given you many great boons, but only you can realize their power. This is the last time I can help you, My Chosen. Hunt the beasts of the Brother of Shadow. Fight the children of dust who have fallen from the path, do not leave the path."

The voice ever mysterious spoke one last time as Jaune stopped in another alley, it would be sun up soon. He looked down and found a puddle of water, there he saw something alien. Two catlike eyes stared back at him, harsh short fangs had formed on his teeth and he could see that his blond hair was thicker than before.

He felt stronger, faster, as if the world had slowed down and he was speeding up.

Jaune turned in the direction of Beacon, and began his pace again, if he could make it there soon, then he could track Cinder's scroll before she ditched it then he could get a bead on her last location.

"C'mon Jaune, you need to do this." He said as he took off once more into the city, his boots slammed the concrete and he moved with as much ferocity as he could, his grace was lacking but the moves were effective.

Time was not in his favor as he saw a bullhead lift off, its destination, Beacon. Jaune cursed his luck and raced to the forest, there he could scale the cliff and get into the school grounds.

Jaune's feet crunch leaves beneath him and he grunted in exertion as he made it to the cliffs, the sun was peering over the horizon, it was maybe seven or eight in the morning. He'd hoped he made it in time.

He drew Crocea Mors and stabbed it into the rock, using it as an anchor, then he hoist himself up, each stab getting him closer to the edge. The weapon must have run dull by now, the edge cracked and worn, but he didn't care. He wouldn't stop, couldn't stop.

The edge was close enough, he gripped it and lifted himself up and stabbed the blade down and rolled over the edge. Lungs gasped for air as he laid there, then he stood quickly and raced to the building. Past the weapons locker room, through the halls, and to the elevator that would take him to Ozpin. He opened the elevator and stepped in, heaving for breath as the machine ascended.

Then a familiar voice rang out.

"Mr. Arc, what business do you have here? You are no longer a student here." Goodwitch's voice called to him then the doors opened and he saw her office, and standing in the center was the woman herself. Behind her was his destination, Ozpin's office.

"Ms. Goodwitch, I really need to speak to Ozpin, I need his help. I don't have a lot of time. Please." Jaune said quickly and she crossed her arms, her tone when she spoke said it all.

"What you need is to explain how you got in, and you will not see Ozpin until that has occurred." She said in a rough tone, her voice conveyed frustration.

"My friend was kidnapped, I need to track her scroll." Jaune said and she shook her head.

"Go to the police, more likely than not Mr. Arc they're somewhere you haven't checked." Jaune frowned and reached for Crocea.

"Mr. Arc, do not draw that blade, I will destroy you in a second." She threatened and pulled her riding crop.

"Then let me talk to Ozpin, I promise I'll explain but I don't have time right now." Jaune's hand didn't move, then the door to Ozpin's office opened and Jaune spoke.

"I need your help, Headmaster, please." Jaune's voice was haggard and tired, wear showing on his exhausted form.

"Follow me, Mr. Arc, we'll talk." He said simply and Jaune followed him quickly.

As they entered the office, Jaune was reminded of the last time he was here, over a month ago, when he was expelled and promise re-entry if he could pass the test before the Vytal Festival.

"I need you to track a scroll, please Headmaster." Jaune said and his eyes met the eyes of the man.

"Quite a lot has changed about you, Mr. Arc. Your eyes especially, I'd even go so far as to say that if I saw you in the dark I might think you a grimm." He spoke and Jaune remembered the catlike blue eyes that he now bore, the fangs he had ready to tear out a throat.

"Yes, but right now Headmaster, I am a man begging for help, please." The Headmaster looked at Jaune.

"I will help, but remember that should you get caught in a bad spot, you are not a huntsman and I cannot and will not protect you." Jaune nodded and Ozpin pulled his scroll into his hand.

"What is the scroll's number?" Jaune's response was immediate.

"Three-eight-fourteen-four-five-eighteen." Jaune spoke as fast as he could without confusing the man.

"It looks like its just passing the Valean Defensive Wall, soon they'll cross into the Badlands, should you follow, you will almost certainly die." The professor said to me and I nodded.

"I won't die, I have to come back before the Vytal Festival right, Headmaster?" Jaune said and his words carried a confidence that had to have been faked because Jaune had no confidence in his survivability.

"Good luck, Mr. Arc, I hope you find your friend." Jaune's changed eyes met Ozpin's and he spoke.

"Me too, Ozpin." And with those words the young man fled the Shining Beacon, his feet carrying him faster than before. The feeling of exhaustion fled as he burned his aura to catch Cinder and tell her what he was so desperate to say.
