"Monster hunter"

Tenya was in trouble; despite being one of the fastest people he knew, only behind some of the others in his family, he was unable to outrun them. Those things were keeping pace with him, their sickled forearms shining in the moonlight. He heard of these creatures as a child, a weasel-like monster with blades protruding from their arms; he always thought it was a tale meant to keep kids from going out at night. This wasn't a dream, though, as much as he wished it was.

They had taken him by surprise, one of them jumping out from and alley and nearly knocking him to the ground. Had he not been fast enough, the second one would've cut his legs off completely. As soon as he had regained balance, the blue-haired boy sped off, hoping to lose the creatures in the crowd. Not only had they been able to follow him, but they seemed to be catching up. The third one was gone as well, so he'd better be careful of an ambu-

Ducking quickly, Tenya was able to dodge the third's attack on his neck; he had nearly lost his head. Losing his balance, he slammed into the metal fence in front of him; he was too tired to get back up. He waited for the final blow to end his short life, praying for his family's well-being and safety, only it never came. The sound of screeching enticed him to open his eyes; the 3 monsters were still there, along with a fourth figure now.

The hooded figure sported plain, if a little drab, and dark clothes; he would have perfectly blended in to the environment if Tenya were looking in from the street. In the mystery-man's hands were two large swords of unusual shape, glowing in a deep purple. Was this guy a hero?

In a split second, Tenya's question was answered; heroes don't kill. The murderous creatures, as fast as they were, couldn't even react as the fighter sliced through all three in one move. No bodies remained as the slain monsters turned to ash and were swept away in the wind. The fallen boy watched as the figure knelt to the ground, speaking in a foreign tongue and placing what he could only assume as a talisman. Bright light flashed in the alley as the paper dispersed; the light did nothing to showcase the man's features or identity. Standing up, the mystery man walked over to the boy; holding out a calloused hand. "Iida Tenya, I do hope I was fast enough to save you at least a small portion of trouble; though, you running in the opposite direction of myself made it difficult to catch up." That voice; it was so familiar he could almost taste it on his tongue. Who was this guy? "You truly are one of the fastest people I've got the chance of meeting."

"Do I know you?" As scared as he was, he knew that the strange man could have killed him in an instant if he wanted to. He was sure that too many questions would scare him off; it was best to stick with the one.

"In a way. I cannot disclose my identity; I'm sure you understand." He held a finger to his featureless mask; there were no eye holes or breathing space, just a straight horizontal line in the center.

"Of course; even for heroes, confidentiality is important for one's safety."

The stranger nodded, "If it makes you feel better, I will be keeping a close eye on you in case anything like this happens again." Well, He can't exactly say it made him feel worse.

"I am deeply grateful to you for saving my life. Whether or not you are a registered hero, I believe that your efforts make you one worth living up to. Though I do not agree with your methods of… handling… whatever those things were."

"Mm; they were not human, if that was your concern. The only way to have dealt with them is to eliminate them. I do not fault you for the confusion; it has become relatively neglected knowledge in recent times. As for being a hero, I am not one. Perhaps, in the coming years, I'll become someone who can call themselves a hero." The hooded figure started walking away, "Until next time, Iida Tenya."

Tenya was once again alone. He walked back out into the street; the night still buzzed with groups of people, all tied up in their own enjoyment or problems to notice him. It was a reminder that the people need someone to act as a shield for them. Just as the stranger had for him.

"It would seem as though my class is not interesting enough." Aizawa-sensei remarked.

It had been a week since the first day; as time progressed, the class started becoming accustomed to each other and their always-tired teacher.

Eijiro thought badly of Aizawa-sensei at first, with his show of not caring about the students. Eventually, everyone learned that he did (in hos own way) care for the class.

Sensei threw a marker at the speedster, waking the boy up from his daydream and earning a few looks of empathy from some classmates. "Is there something more important on your mind than what I am teaching you, Iida?"

"N-no, sensei."

"Well it sure looks like it. Why don't you tell the class what is making you loose focus in my clas-"

"If I may, sensei." Jahaad (or Izuku, now that his sister was here) spoke up, "I have been speaking with Iida-san recently after school; he seems to be having issues with his family and their business."

The teacher looked back to Iida, "Is this true?"

"Yes, sensei." Something didn't seem right; the way Iida replied and looked over to Izuku just didn't make sense.

"Mm. I'll let you off the hook this time, but for the rest of today and the days following, I better see you paying attention to me while in class." Well, it fooled him enough. "As I had said earlier, your day today will be the same as previous; the first half being battle drills and the later half being self-study. On Monday, we will be taking an off-campus trip to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or USJ."

"Heck yeah; field trip! This is gonna be awesome!" Kaminari shouted.

"I plan on making it as opposite to that as possible." Aizawa-sensei flatly stated, "Aside from that, we've got a new heroics teacher for you starting today. You all know him, and if I hear a single sound come from any of you, we're going to see just how well your endurance is. Don't test me." A knock on the door alerted the class and the teacher sighed, "That would be him. Everybody shut up." He went and opened the door.

"Good morning, class 1A!!" wait, he knew that voice, "I am here!!"

All Might!?

"As I explained earlier, he will be teaching you lot during the heroics portion of your day. I will continue to co-teach, so don't think you can start slacking." He checked his watch, "We're already behind on time; class rep, get everyone changed and at site Alpha. It's the closest training field, so you have ten minutes." With that, the two teachers left.

Yaoyorozu, the elected class rep, stood up; "Let us hurry today; we want to make a good first impression on All Might-sensei."

The class went to the changing rooms with their costumes, quickly getting changed and heading to the training site. For the past week, they practiced teamwork and coordination; today didn't seem to be different. The group circled around their teachers, who were already there.

"Good, everyone is on time; keep it up." That was high praise, coming from Aizawa-sensei, "Today will be a continuation of yesterday; I told you to find somebody who you think you're compatible with quirk-wise and skill-wise, and then to make teams no greater than 5. Today, I want you all to get together with your teams, as you will now compete randomly against other teams in this artificial city.

Eijiro quickly found his teammates as Ochako and Mina ran up to him, followed by Shinzo. He didn't quite see the point of having the purplette in the group at first, but Ochako vouched for him as a hidden trick card and a failsafe.

"Let's see who we're up against." Shinzo recommend. The group walked over to the display board.

Ashido, Kirishima, Shinzo, Uraraka vs. Jirou, Kaminari, Koda, Shouji, Sato.

"Aw crap!" Mina blurted, "We only got four!"

"At least we don't have less, Mina." Ochako tried to cheer the pink girl up.

"She's right. Though I'd say having more people can be worse if you don't know their fighting style or quirk. That's why I was surprised when you came to me." Shinzo added.

"Speaking of small teams, have you guys seen that the twins teamed up by themselves?"

"Yeah; to be fair though, they have probably the highest compatibility with each other in the entire class. Not to mention they also have good teamwork from years of training together." Eijiro explained. If it were any other group, he'd have second thoughts on small team size. If he was honest, he was kinda scared to go against the two.

"Alright you degenerates; let's get this over with quickly." Aizawa-sensei grumbled, "Team three vs team one; Todoroki, get your team into position. After 5 minutes, the twins can start their search. The rest of you follow us to the observation room." He turned around and walked to the room, with the rest of the class in tow.

When the class got to the dark room, All Might chimed in, "This is a capture the flag scenario, where each of the players have a flag and the team that carries the most flags in the end will be victorious! The key to this game is strategy; Todoroki's team can either stick together to try to combat the opposing team, or they can split up and use the space between them to their advantage."

"What would be advantageous for the team to split up; wouldn't they be stranger together?" Jirou asked.

"That is correct, young Jirou; they would definitely have more firepower when together! However, if they were to divide themselves over a big enough distance, that would create a more time-consuming approach for two people to search for five." All Might had a point. Eijiro wondered how Todoroki would treat this drill; while he was definitely a powerhouse, he was also very full of himself. Not as much as the Bakugou guy, but enough to notice he didn't think much of his peers.

Mr. Aizawa went to the far wall which was covered in computer screens, monitoring the activity outside in the training site. Leaning over, the teacher spoke into a microphone, "Team one, you may enter the field; you have five minutes to devise a plan. Go."

The class watched on the screen as the group went into the fake city. It was an odd group; Eijiro wondered why they joined together. Aside from Todoroki, Tokoyami was the only other member of the team that had any firepower. Yaoyorozu seemed to be a good strategist, Ojiro was good at close-quarters combat, and Hagakure was good at hiding and sneak attacks; honestly a good group if he thought about it. The only problem was that Todoroki guy, who didn't seem to listen to his teammates' strategizing. Teamwork was needed for this exercise and he was not helping. The class discussed who they thought would win; a lot of them were excited to see how the twins would work together. Sure they saw the strength from each of them when doing physical tests and individual exercises, but their teamwork has never been witnessed. Looking outside the window to the exterior of the test site, the students could see the two stretching; they didn't look nervous or afraid.

"Time's up, happy hunting." Aizawa-sensei spoke into the microphone. At that, the two got into position.

What happened next was a complete blur; Izuku launched into the air and enclosed himself in some kind of rubik's cube while Endorsi spawned some weird rapier or something, sprinting around the test site. It only took a few seconds for her to locate and steal Ojiro's flag; he didn't even have time to react before dropping unconscious on the ground. Everyone's jaws dropped at the speed and efficiency the two had; it was unreal.

Toru heard the bell chime, followed by Aizawa-sensei explaining that Ojiro was already out. It hadn't even been a minute since the beginning of the match! She looked up to see that weird box thing up in the sky; she had seen Izuku jump up and trap himself in it at the start. Was it some kind of tracking device? The sound of footsteps alerted her as she backed up against a wall, stiffening and hoping nobody would notice her.

Only to relax as she saw Tokoyami running into the alley. "Hey, Tok-

She froze again as the sister twin landed in between the two; she was so quiet that, had she not been looking, she'd be caught as well.

"You make a good opponent there, Tokoyami." Toru didn't know whether to take that as an insult or compliment. "Though I must say, you need to work on your vigilance; had your shadow not protected you, you'd be out just like him."

"I, too, have noticed my lack of discipline. I believe that I rely too much on darkshadow that I become dependent and useless on my own." The avian boy replied.

"Hahaha; you sound like Izuku." She laughed, "I'm not making fun of you, it's actually respectable. And I think its cute." Is she flirting with him? Right now?

"Mm; I thank you for the compliment. However, I don't believe that my word choice is the reason we're here." And he doesn't even notice!! What kind of romcom skit is this?

"Boo; and here I was going to see if you were free later." Is she serious?!

Well that seemed to get through to the boy; he gawked, stunned to silence. The slightest tinge of red sneaking into his feathers. "Huh?!"

Taking the opportunity, the girl rushed at him; her speed was beyond what she'd ever seen. She shined a flashlight at the big shadow creature, scaring it back into the boy. "Lessons learned." She kicked at the boy, knocking him out with one hit. She sighed, "Boys will always succumb to lust." She turned around, nearly looking right at Toru, "Isn't that right, Hagakure?"

She knew?! How did she know? "Y-yeah. I think anyone would react to something like that, though."

"Yeah, I suppose you're right. I almost thought it wouldn't work." The sister looked around, "Now if you don't mind, can I have that flag of yours? Pretty please?" Wait, she couldn't see her? Maybe she still had an opportunity to make it out.

The shattered bottle on the ground had other plans; the pain was almost unbearable, and she let out a yelp of pain before falling down on the hard ground. If that didn't alert the girl of her position, the trail of blood certainly did.

"Oh shit!" The girl ran over to her, kneeling to inspect the wound. "What happened?"

"Stepped on glass." Toru winced, "It hurts."

"Well, yeah; why on earth don't you have shoes on?!" She quickly pulled out a med pack from nowhere. She fished through the bag until she pulled out a roll of gauze.

"I can't; my quirk doesn't work on clothes or anything."

"Wait; you mean to tell me you're not wearing any…"

"Yeah."

"Oh my God, girl! You can't just do that, not is it completely embarrassing to expose yourself like that, but what if you were in a cold environment. Or what about self protection?"

"But my quirk-

"Oh, you didn't know; you can explain your quirk to the support course and they'll use your own DNA to make a costume for you. There's a few heroes that have that and also some upperclassmen."

"Oh. That'd be great, actually."

"Yep! Now let me get you out of here." She scooped the invisible girl up like she weighed nothing, "Izuku, I got an injured opponent here; you're gonna have to do the rest on your own."

Out of nowhere, the brother's voice chimed in, "Roger. I'm sensing a serious cut on the bottom of her right foot, along with some minor cuts and scrapes. No major blood loss, so she will make a quick recovery." How did he know all that? "I will handle the two remaining targets; get her to Chiyo-sensei." Toru looked around for the source of the sound, eventually finding a floating orb about the size of a soccer ball. It floated next to Endorsi's side and followed them through the match site. It was completely black with no detail or engraving on it, aside from the word 'CALL'. Was this some kind of communication device? Is that how they did so well? The amount of teamwork these two had was incredible; it made her jealous of their training a little.

"Cool I'll see you after." The orb disappeared and the girl sped up, "Okay; let's get you some help."

As they were leaving, Toru looked up to where Izuku was. The sky started getting darker as the boy walked out the cube, literally standing on air. He looked more like a god than a human; his eyes glowed a celestial gold as he raised his hand. She felt bad for her remaining teammates, who were out there having to deal with that. She sent a silent prayer as they went into the building towards the medical rooms.

What the fuck was going on?

Kaminari had this exact thought; witnessing as the sky darkened and all sound was lost.

It didn't take long for most of the class to realize the Jahaads were a force of nature; but the brother, Izuku, was in a class of his own. Even the other powerhouses of class 1A were dwarfed by him.

In an instant, the site was covered in a dense fog and the boy was nowhere to be seen. On another screen, a gigantic glacier erupted behind a building, courtesy of Todoroki's quirk.

"Todoroki's flag has been stolen." Aizawa-sensei spoke into the microphone. "One left."

On Yaomomo's screen, she appeared to be making something like a barrier. Producing a thick wall around herself. Like a bunker? Honestly a good strategy in Denki's opinion; there wasn't much a way to fight him.

Just as the top of her makeshift bunker was complete, Izuku appeared; he made his way to the metal box and placed his hand on it. What was he doing? A wave of energy blasted from his hand and shook the structure, but didn't break it. Perhaps Yaomomo will survive the match.

Boy, was he wrong.

Izuku took a few steps back, his lips moved, probably requesting the girl's surrender. The sudden appearance of those magical spheres (he called them "bangs" before) showed that the conversation didn't go well. It only took a couple shots to destroy the walls, those things were *potent*. The boy walked through the rubble and debris, looking for the girl.

Out of nowhere, a round object was thrown at the boy, causing a loud bang sound on impact. A disoriented Izuku knelt to the ground, ears and nose bleeding. He was struggling to get up; did she actually beat him? The girl took no time I making another object, it sparked around the tip. Running forward, she shot the taser at the boy, erupting in vicious sparks.

AAAAAAAAAAUGHHH!!! The scream was blood-curdling.

Everything stilled. That was not meant to happen. Everyone in the room stared at the screen, without a word, as the boy collapsed into a heap. Yaomomo, only a few feet away stared in horror at what she'd done.

Beside Denki, Kyoka was the first to make a noise, doubling over and emptying the contents of her stomach onto the floor. On his other side, Kirishima spoke up with mortified confusion, "Is… is he alive?" The question everyone wanted to ask; he was their classmate and a friend to many of his peers. One could tell who was impacted most; Ashido and Uraraka started crying as Shinzo crouched down, covering his face and hugging his knees. Some of the others started mourning as well; but it was paused as a sick, wet, crunch echoed over the speakers. All eyes shot to the screen, widening in horror at what they were witnessing.

Izuku, now twitching on the ground, remained unconscious as a disgusting, red creature grew out of his abdomen. The bleeding in his ears stopped and some of the burn marks evaporated off his skin. Just as quickly as it appeared, the red thing sank back into the boy's body. Whoever hadn't vomited before were doing so now, the room smelled terrible. Nobody paid the stench any mind as their once-thought-dead friend sat back up. He looked terrible, but way better than what they had feared. His consciousness didn't last too long as his eyes once rolled to the back of his head.

"Can we go-

"Yes." Aizawa-sensei interrupted whoever was talking, "Go get him to an infirmary. Someone else call Recovery Girl. Now."

Sorry this chapter took so long to make; I've been losing my mind at work and my lack of high intellect. I also tried to make better transition markers, bc apparently FanFic didn't notice what I had set. So hopefully that makes it easier to tell when the POV changes.
