Hey Everyone! It's Friday, time for another chapter!
Now, On with the story.
Chapter 12: Winging
(A Few Hours Later, Inside a Cargo Plane)
"148 people missing, eight regions, a lot more questions than answers." Thought Mateus to himself. "Get some rest. You're pondering more than usual." Said Mirai telepathically. "How can I get some rest? I feel as if the lives of so many people and the trust of the international Police is hinging on to my back." Said Mateus. Mirai then places her paw on her nose. "Are you clueless or dense?" Mateus then turns to Mirai in shock. "What?" "Are you forgetting that you're not the ONLY one working on the case?! Everyone that's here with us is also working on this case, so stop acting as if you're all alone on this when you're not!" As Mirai turned around in annoyance, Mateus pondered on her words. Before he knew it, he was asleep.
(Meanwhile, With Ash and Serena.)
Ash was just pondering on about many things. The case, his twins Wyatt and Stella, Professors Kukui and Burnet's daughter, Amelia, being one the kidnapped. With a lot on his mind, Ash didn't notice that his wife was waving to him with one of her feelers. "Hello, Ash-kun, are you there? Eon?" Asked Serena. "Oh. Sorry Sweetheart. I just have a lot on my mind." Said Ash, apologizing for unintentionally ignoring his wife. "I can tell. It's not usual for you to be worried." Ash then sighs. "This whole thing was already problematic in and of itself, now it's made worse by the fact that one of our closest family friends was kidnapped." Serena then places one of her feelers on Ash's hat, lightly stroking it. "Ash, I feel the same way. But you always encouraged me to not give up, and you put others before yourself. We will find Amelia and the other people. I'm sure of it. Eon." Ash then rests his head on Serena left shoulder, causing her to show a slight smile.
(The scene then turns to Hilbert and Rosa.)
Rosa was trying her absolute hardest to keep her tears from falling down. She was worried about her sister, Hilda, and her friend, Bianca. Hilbert noticed his younger sister's emotion and turned to her. "You know. It's not a good idea to hold your tears." Said a worried Hilbert. Rosa then looks away without saying a word. "Rosa, you haven't been your bubbly self since this began. I'm worried about Hilda and Bianca just as much as you are, but you can't lose yourself while searching for them." Rosa then turns to Hilbert with an angered look on her face. "Oh. So I'm not allowed to worry for my sister and friend." Said an angry Rosa. "I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that I'm worried about you. You've been cold and distant ever since you found out Hilda and Bianca went missing." Hilbert then wraps his arms around Rosa in a hug. "I remember when me and Hilda got Oshawott and Tepig respectively, and the first time Oshawott saw you, he accidentally used Water Gun on you. You were so dumbstruck and Hilda just was on the floor laughing." Rosa then looks up to her brother. "I remember that." Hilbert then looks at Rosa. "Rosa, I'm your brother. I'm always here for you." Rosa, who could no longer contain her composure, begins to cry in her brother's arms.
(Meanwhile, with Goh and Chloe.)
"These people, missing. Their families, worried. It's hard not to feel for them" Said Goh. "It's also hard to imagine. Just two weeks ago, we were celebrating Wyatt and Stella coming into the world. Now, we're racing against the clock hoping that many other lives don't get taken out of it." Said Chloe. Goh then turns to Chloe. "It does sound hard to believe. Even though we are in a cargo plane, the atmosphere still feels tense."
(The scene then turns again, this time to Clemont, Korrina, and Bonnie.)
Bonnie was sitting between her brother, Clemont, and his Fiancée, Korrina, with a worried expression on her face. Korrina had her helmet on her lap, letting her hair down after a long day. "I'm scared." Said Bonnie. Korrina then looks at Bonnie. "I'm scared too, Bonnie." Said Korrina. Clemont just looked at the ground, almost as if in shame. Korrina then places her hand on Clemont's shoulder with a worried gaze on her face. "Hey, this whole thing bothering you, Clemont?" "Bother doesn't even begin to describe it. How is it that we get some crucial pieces to the puzzle, yet we still can't find who's behind this?" Asked Clemont. Korrina then strokes Clemont's hair. "That is the question we're all wondering about right now." Bonnie then looks up at Clemont and Korrina. "Big Brother, Korrina, what would you do if things went differently and I was the one of the ones that were kidnapped?" Clemont and Korrina then look at each other in awkward silence before the former regained his composure and looked down towards his sister. "Bonnie. You know even if things went differently, I would do everything to stop that from happening. And If It did happen, I'd do everything to make sure your home safely." Korrina then smiled Clemont's response, happy that her fiancé was the caring person he was.
(The scene then shifts to some of Ash's former Alolan classmates and Molayne.)
Everyone was discussing the case. Mallow, Lillie, and Lana were discussing how it affected the lives of the families, Kiawe, Sophocles, Hau, and Molayne were discussing how the perpetrators continue to escape International Police Patrol. "It makes it difficult to catch them if they keep improvising." Said Hau. "They really must anticipate every possibility. It sends chills down your spine." Said Kiawe. "No doubt. I fear for the missing." Said Sophocles. "Is it alright if I step out of the conversation real quick? I have a phone call I need to make." Asked Molayne. Sophocles then looks to his cousin. "Of course, Big Mo." Molayne then walks to the back of the plane.
(Meanwhile, in the Hano Grand Resort, Alola.)
Kahili was looking at the nightly skyline of Heahea City from her penthouse at the Hano Grand Resort. The distinguished PokéGolfer and Elite Four member was having a hard time sleeping during the course of the night. Even though sunrise was little over a few hours away, the night felt seemingly endless, and this irritated her greatly. Rather than try to force herself to sleep, Kahili decided to ponder her thoughts for a bit, doing so for the past half-hour.
(Kahili's Rotom Phone then begins to ring, prompting her to quickly answer it.)
"Hello?" Said Kahili. "Hi Kahili." Said a voice over the phone, whom Kahili recognized immediately. "Molayne? I'm surprised to hear your voice at this hour." "I'm just calling to see how you're doing." Said Molayne over the phone. "To be honest, not very well. I haven't been able to sleep tonight." "Why is that?" "This whole thing with all the kidnappings, it's gotten me to feel uneasy, which is unusual." "You usually do have a sense of composure and confidence." "I know. I've even noticed a slump in my play, and being an Elite Four member isn't even a priority for me lately." "Serena told me that you've been helping her parents with Wyatt and Stella." "Yes. Words can't even begin to describe how adorable those twins are, and Grace and Charles have been absolutely kind and helpful in discussing this uneasiness." "I can see how that's the case, seeing as they've experienced it firsthand." "Molayne?" "Yes Kahili?" "Thank you. I'm lucky to have a friend like you." "Hey, that's what friends are for. I have to go now. I have to be ready for any briefing that might take place." "Alright, I understand. Good bye." "Good bye." Kahili then smiled as the call ended, took one last look at the Heahea skyline and went to her bed to fall asleep.
(Several Hours Later, at Wyndon Airport)
The group was moving through the airport, willing to get to headquarters of International Police's Galarian Branch as quickly as they could, so that they can get to work as soon as possible. "To say that there is a lot on the line is simply, all things considered, an understatement." Thought Mateus to himself. Mateus had more on his mind than he liked, but he knew he was going to get to the bottom of this, one way or another.
