His question had caused a few laughs to go around. Severus and Edward had been put through the ringer and Orion can still sense it. Can still feel the leftover guilt, pain, anger, and fear. Lots of fear.
Jasper leaned forward, his right hand clasped with Draco's left. "What do you remember?"
Orion thought about it. "I remember going to the Cullen's house and it goes fuzzy after that."
Those who were there shared uneasy looks. It bothered Orion and demanded they tell him what happened. The one to break was Draco. "When it weas brought up that Alice will die when Aro does, Rosalie and Esme did not react well. Carlisle didn't either."
Edward stiffened and small growls were escaping his lips. Orion glanced at his mate and bit his lip. "Rosalie attacked me didn't she?"
He was relieved when he saw them shake their heads, but it didn't last long when Jasper said Esme's name.
Orion's mouth dropped wide open. Thinking he heard it wrong, he asked them to repeat it.
"Esme was the one who killed you," Edward deadpanned. He tightened his hold on his mate and son. He could still feel the pain in his chest and he still wanted nothing more than to kill Esme.
Orion was just in shock. He never thought she would ever be capable of something like that. It's just too unbelievable. "Maybe she didn't know what she was doing, Ed. She doesn't seem to have too much control over her gift."
Orion regretted the words, once he felt Edward's anger. He pushed as much love as he could into their bond, to calm him down. He didn't want him to yell while he was holding Teddy. Teddy had been through enough that night. "I'm just saying that I have never felt anything negative from Esme when I was around her."
Orion ignored everyone while he plead with Edward. Edward what's wrong? I know how angry you are but I don't understand most of it. Did something happen to make you think she hurt me on purpose?
Why was Ed feeling so conflicted? What is he hiding?
"Did you know she would hurt me?" Orion whispered.
Edward shook his head. "No not before. But when she was...suffocating you, she didn't try to stop herself. There was a moment where she hesitated, but she couldn't stop think about how her family was torn apart."
Sirius looked at his son in concern. This wouldn't help his son's recovery. He's afraid that another betrayal might set him over the edge.
Orion didn't say anything. Although he was absolutely fuming inside, he kissed his son on the cheek. There was no way he would let this anger get the best of him. He wouldn't let the rage consume him. Orion has too much to lose and he wasn't willing to chance it.
Orion took a deep breath and tried to control his magic. It's almost acting as if it has a life of its own. It wants to see revenge. It wants to destroy what hurt him. Everyone except Jasper and Edward were ignorant to how close he was to losing it.
Edward didn't say anything. He just pushed all the love he had for Orion through their bond. That's all that was needed really. Orion just needed the support. The comfort of his mate so that he didn't lose himself. Yes, he knows he shouldn't be dependent, but isn't that the point of a relationship? To depend on each other when one or both of them need it?
To distract himself, Orion started to think about what his and Edward's future kids will look like. Will they have his eyes? Or even Edwards? Will they get the Potter hair? He smiled at the images that were invading his mind and he was thoroughly distracted. It seemed Edward was also distracted as his desire was rising. Just the thought had his growling possessively.
"I don't know what to do with Esme. And to be perfectly honest, she's not important right now," Orion stated.
His dad went to argue, but he was cut off. "No dad. Just lock her up. We have to deal with the Volturi. Starting with Chelsea. She needs to go. She ties all of them to the Volturi and they might not want anything to do with them after that."
Edward and Jasper nodded. "We'll need someone to take their place. I do agree that there needs to be some type of structure."
"I say we leave Marcus. He's more level headed and hasn't had anything to with the bad the Volturi has done. If anything he's a victim because Aro had his mate killed," Jasper explained.
Orion hummed. "Does he know that?"
"No."
Edward's answer was short but no one pushed him on it. "We can use this in addition to getting rid of Chelsea. Like I said before I don't want to destroy them if I don't have to."
Everyone nodded. Orion looked hesitantly at Edward. What he was going to say wasn't going to please his mate. He tried to hum tunes so that Edward didn't hear it prematurely.
"I think Emmett, Jasper, and I should be the ones to go. That's if Emmett isn't mad at me," Oriin said.
And just like that, chaos. Edward was especially vocal. His death was still fresh on all of their minds. And he was a newly turned vampire. This just spelled disaster, but it was the only way. Edward would let his protective instincts control him. It's natural because they are mates. However, it will be worse for Edward because of what happened. This was the way it needed to be and Orion will be damned if his mate got hurt or died.
After hours of arguing, Emmett was called and he agreed. No one spoke about Alice, Rosalie, Carlisle, or Esme. Alice will be taken care of when Aro dies, and no one wants to think about the others. Edward was very reluctant to let Orion leave. Severus played on the fact that if he went with Orion, it would leave their son defenseless.
Orion, Jasper, and Edward planned everything. It was better to go in prepared. By the time they finished, they were confident that it was going to work. It had to.
...
Orion, Jasper, and Emmett landed in Volterra and he was hardpressed not to laugh. Both of the vampires had collapsed and were taking in gulps of air they didn't have to.
"I never want to do that again," complained Emmett.
Jasper stood after regaining his balance. "I agree. That was the worst form of transportation I have been through!"
Orion couldn't keep in his laughs anymore. How can these two vampires not handle a portkey? Although he did agree that it was absolutely terrible.
"Well suck it up. That's our way back," Orion explained. When remembering why they were there, he turned serious. "Do you remember the plan?"
Both of the vampires also turned serious and nodded. "I'm going to hide our scents with magic and make us quiet."
Emmett grinned. "I love magic."
Orion smirked. He knew he made the right decision taking Emmett and Jasper. Orion knew that their plan was going to work. He faced worse and this was a piece of cake. He long got over his guilt over killing. Orion realized that protecting his family comes first. He just wished others would understand.
"Let's go," Jasper said. Orion and Emmett fell behind him. Orion muttered silencio on all three of them. They didn't need much invisiblity because of the glamour Orion had placed on the vampires before they left. They needed to do this in the daylight.
They stopped behind part of the castle where the guards couldn't see. Their first target was Chelsea. There was no other choice for her. She tied all of them together and was doing it of her own free will.
It took them close to 30 minutes to find her and when they did, Alec and Jane were with her. When they had first started to plan, they were divided on what to do with both of them. They both had extremely powerful gifts and could be useful in the future. They were already planning on letting Marcus live, especially with the information they could give him.
Orion looked to Jasper and nodded. He turned back to Chelsea and whispered, "Fiendfyre."
It was pretty terrifying to Jasper and Emmett how easy the fire consumed Chelsea. She had tried to run, but the flames engulfed her. It trapped her within its heat and she turned to dust.
Jane and Alec weren't taking it any better. They both had tensed up and looked around. When she spotted them, she started to run to kill them. But when Chelsea had turned to dust, their eyes cleared. Both Jasper and Orion could feel their confusement and anger.
Orion spoke up before anything could happen. "We don't want to kill you, but we will if we have to. Aro can't control you anymore and you have a choice. Stay here with the new leader or die fighting for Aro."
Jane and Alec were still very confused. However, they concluded that it would be better to go along with them. Now that they weren't tied to Aro, they wanted revenge. "We will stay, but we want to see Aro be destroyed."
Orion was confused at the amount of anger coming from them, but realized he shouldn't be. Aro had been emotionally controlling them for centuries and who knows what else he took from them. Especially since he had killed his own sister to keep Marcus there.
Jasper nodded. "Now that Chelsea is dead, we need to go to Marcus. Can you show us where he is? The faster we get to him the better."
"He won't want to live. He has been depressed for centuries. You're better off just killing him," Jane said.
"Leave it to us. He needs to hear some things and then he could decide if he wants to live or not. Show us to him," Orion demanded. His magic was already begging for a release as it strained against his control.
Jane and Alec glanced at each other before speeding down to Marcus' room. It's where he always was.
Marcus was sat on his bed and didn't make a sound when they burst in. No one was surprised by the one worded greeting. "Finally."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but we're not killing you." At least if you decide not to die.
Marcus turned to them fully but didn't say anything. Orion once again was the one to speak. "You need to take control of the Volturi after we kill Aro."
He stood stoically and didn't bother to answer which irritated Orion. "Aro was the one to kill your wife, but if you decide to die then you're more selfish than I thought."
That at least got a reaction from him. He hissed, "You have no idea what it's like to lose your mate."
Orion laughed. "And neither do you. Do you think you'd still be alive if your mate had actually died? You wouldn't. You would go insane and kill yourself. Or someone else would. Your mate is still out there and if you choose to die now, not only do you condemn yourseld you condemn your mate to."
Marcus was angry. There was no denying it, but Orion could feel the hope. It was tiny, but it was there.
"Don't ruin your chance to find her. I can feel the strength and leadership from you. You were meant to lead, Marcus. Not follow a mad man," Orion passionately said. It was true. Everything he's heard about Marcus tells him that he could be a great leader.
Marcus nodded once. Everyone could tell he was still reeling from the news that the woman he had mourned for a long time wasn't his mate. He still loved her, but he could finally mourn her and not let it overwhelm him.
They left the room only to find Aro outside. Emmett and Jasper had tensed up. They weren't expecting Aro so soon.
Orion smirked. He could feel the fear coming from Aro, but he could also feel the madness coming from him. Everyone looked to Orion in concern when he started to laugh hysterically.
"You made this so easy. You're nothing compared to what I've faced before," Orion laughed. Making direct eye contact with Aro, he whispered "fiendfyre."
It was disgustingly easy to kill Aro. He didn't even try to fight or get away. It was honesty a let down. Everyone behind him were disappointed. They wanted a fight.
Orion clapped his hands together. "So, who's ready to clean this place up?"
A/N: Aro's death had always been planned to be this easy. It was meant to showcase how not only powerful Orion is, but to show how pathetic Aro was. He was on the edge of sanity and was losing his abilities in the process.
