Chapter Twenty
Most people wanted their wedding day to be full of sunshine, no rain on sight. I wasn't that kind of person; I preferred the harsh weather outside. There was thunder and lightning and the darkened skyline cast liniments throughout the castle, as though nature was making a lament about the upcoming marriage between me and Aro.
I stood outside of the throne doors that led into both the throne room and where the ceremony was being held.
I was dressed in a skintight gothic red and black hued wedding dress.
There was an open back that rested right above my tailbone.
The front of the dress had an open neckline that showed off my breasts in a seductive manner, highlighting them. There was black lace that was covering the dress in a pattern of roses and thorns.
A wedding veil that didn't cover my face but rested on my back and went three feet all around me in a pool, an ombre where it was crimson all the way down to black.
A diadem was resting on my head, there were black spikes that were sticking out on the diadem and beautifully crafted red roses between each spike.
Black high heels clicked against the cobblestone, the heels were high and actual shards of blood stones were sewn into the heels of the shoes. They made me a lot taller than I was, even though I had gained a few inches when it came to my vampirism.
"Mother, are you ready?"
I turned my head, noticing that Alec and Jane were standing next to each other, Jane wearing a crimson bridesmaid dress that she had sewn together.
It was a replica of one of her favorite old dresses she wore till she had to get rid of it back in the Renaissance time period.
Alec was wearing a Victorian era suit with a crimson rose pinned to the right pocket of his suit jacket.
They were both holding the hands of their little siblings, since Morticia and Apep could walk on their own without having to worry about falling over despite not even being a year old yet. They were dressed in miniature versions of their older siblings' clothes.
"Go on in, I'll be there when the bridal march starts," I instructed, earning nods from Alec and Jane before they entered the throne room, the heavy doors shutting behind them in a loud thud. There was music that was currently playing for them when they would come down the aisle.
My eyes turned and looked in the direction of where the large window was.
I moved closer to the window, and I craned my head to the side when I saw that no one was out and about. Maybe they had heard about the odd social event that was happening today and they knew it would be best for them to not come to the castle. They would have added themselves to the buffet I would be providing for the guests, and to say the least it would already be enough food to go around.
As the wedding march began, I picked up the bouquet of flowers that were on the window seat.
Dried roses that were red and black. I didn't care to have any live roses; besides it wouldn't fit the aesthetic that I was going for. I wasn't going to be keeping the roses for the future to look back fondly on. That wasn't the kind of person I was.
The doors opened into the throne room, and I went forward, noticing there wasn't a large mass of people who had decided to come to the wedding.
More like ones who had been invited, to say the least no one in the Volturi trusted anyone other than their own.
Unless the people were studied and interrogated to the fullest extent voluntarily, when they wanted to become well known with the Volturi, then there was no point in becoming friends with the Volturi.
The Volturi did not have friends.
The Volturi had allies, and they had enemies.
There were no frou-frou emotions for The Volturi.
Showing emotion to others outside of closed doors was showing weakness and showing weakness meant extermination.
The people that even thought they could be with the Volturi were nothing more than play toys, they were played with until they were disposable. Their stuffing would come out, they would lose an eye and the Volturi would get tired of having to sew them together again. They'd just chuck the toy into the trashcan or burn it to get rid of it.
The dress code for the wedding was black and red.
There was not a single person who was dressed in white.
Just the thought of me, myself, wearing white made my nose curl backwards inwardly. I wasn't like other brides. I was a goddess; I was about to become a queen. I would have been coated in blood by the end of the night anyway, this was a night of celebration to come. There would be so many discarded bodies that had their blood drained from them. The blood would pour, and everyone would be at their highest in euphoria.
Standing on the dais with the three thrones behind him, was my king of darkness.
My king of all that was morbid and disturbing.
My Aro.
He stood there in a suit that would put Dracula to shame.
The suit clung to him sinfully, and his black hair still fell in a chaos around him.
His hip bones were still large enough that I was tempted to grab him by them and yank him towards me, demanding others to leave the room before we would ravish each other.
I wanted to feel his skin underneath that suit, I wanted to taste the venom in his mouth.
I wanted him more now than I thought it was possible, my center throbbing hotly as my lace panties almost seemed to dampen at the thought of what I would be expecting tonight.
I had enough manners to not do this, well that and I would kill anyone who thought they were able to see Aro naked for all to see instead of just me.
Apep and Morticia were standing behind their father, both of them having one of their arms wrapped around the back of his head. They would look at their father, then the older twins behind them, and then me, and finally the people that were sitting in the chairs that faced the dais. They were more than intrigued by what was happening, and it didn't help how they were most likely talking to each other in their minds or trying to talk to the guests in their minds.
I finally reached the dais and climbed the marble stairs to the top. Aro held out one of his hands for me and I put my hand in his. Athenodora appeared behind me and held out her hand for me to hand her the bouquet. I handed it to her, and we shot each other a wordless acknowledgement to each other we were glad we had finally reached this stage.
Turning back to Aro, I noted how it was Caius who was the ordained minister, his hands clasped behind his back while he was wearing stylish robes instead of a tux or suit.
His blond hair was pulled up in a high ponytail, different jewels were nestled in random spots of his hair, in order to bring a more fantasy aesthetic to him, but on the dark elf/faerie aesthetic level. He had the corner of his lip fighting the urge to twitch upwards, since it was common knowledge that Caius Volturi never showed positive emotions towards anything or anyone.
Clearing his throat, in order to gain complete attention and respect for the ceremony, Caius soon spoke, "Beloved wedding guest, we are gathered here today to join in union King Aro to Consort Isabella. Isabella is not a mere consort, having borne children for him but for being his mate. She has murdered, tortured, killed to her heart's content. She was no mere simple human when our Guard found her, they found her while she was murdering a homeless man."
The small handful of guests arched one of their eyebrows up, before studying me.
The glare I gave them was enough for them to show a more respectful attitude towards the information. I was nothing like Queen Didyme, there was no sun and rainbows that covered me whole. That wasn't the type of person I was. I would make sure to crush my enemies and drink the blood from their crushed bodies and organs.
"King Aro and Consort Isabella have decided that there is no point in saying vows to remind each other of their devotion. Words are just words; actions mean more for them. So, I have to merely ask, do the both of you take each other as your spouse? Do you promise to always be a lending ear for the other when they ask for advice? Will you do anything in order to make sure no harm shall come for the other, and for your children also?"
"I do."
"I do."
Caius nodded his head, before motioning for both Apep and Morticia to hand the rings they had been given. They loosened their hands from their father's legs and came around, handing the rings to both me and Aro. We bent down and kissed the both of them on their heads, knowing we had no problems with them having this job because they were more intellectual than any normal human could ever be. They would never think about losing or eating the rings.
We had simple silver rings, with no need for frivolous details.
We placed our rings upon each other's matrimony fingers and smiled warmly at each other.
We leant forward and gave a simple kiss, knowing there was no reason why we would have to make this look like it was going to turn into a wedding orgy. This wasn't what Aro and I did, though I wouldn't have been surprised if that was what Athenodora had wanted the night to turn out.
"It is with this that the next part shall be started. The coronation for Consort Isabella."
To be honest if it were someone else who had kept calling me the consort of Aro I would have killed them where they were standing despite the fact that this was the right terminology. I had yet to be given my title and accept the position as a monarch.
Athenodora came towards us from where she had been, having a black marble crown that was simply a thin band with almost the whole band covered with blood stones. There were some places you could still see the black marble, but the majority of the crown was bloodstone.
Reaching me, she gave me an acknowledging bow of a head. Barely noticeable but enough for me to know she trusted me. She would have made sure I would have died if she didn't think I would make a good queen and future sister.
Well, if it wasn't Athenodora that would have killed me, it would have been Aro.
He would have thought that this was a practical joke played on him, for the fates to offer him a mate such as me. A mate who would have been sick to the stomach with the thought of blood and vampires. It would have been his sworn duty to make sure that I would never have my coronation come to the light of day.
"Do you, Isabella Marie, swear to put the lives of your people before yours? Do you promise to hold shelter for those of our kind in need? Do you promise to help lead a battle against our enemies, making sure that not even one of them will survive?"
"I promise to put the lives of my people before mine. I promise to hold shelter towards those of our kind when they are in need. I promise to help lead a battle against our enemies and make sure that not one of them will survive."
"So, it shall be."
Athenodora placed the crown on my head once the diadem part of my veil was taken off and sat to the side. A sense of unlimited power came over me. A feeling that I could find myself becoming addicted to. Yes, I would use this power.
Leaving the throne room in order for the servants to change the room decorations to a reception setting, Aro and I went over to where one of the Suttons were. Aro helped me sit down, and that my dress was fixed in the right way without causing any unnecessary tugging or ripping. He kissed me on the forehead, his fingers brushing against my marble like cheekbone.
Pulling away from me, he sat down next to me and noticed the fifty guests we had invited to the wedding were forming a line to wish us good blessings and a prosperous reign together.
We watched all our people come forward, and noted how Aro made sure to take one of their hands in his so he could read their thoughts, on me most likely. Then he would wave his hand to motion them to leave and went to the next person. I waited patiently next to him, especially when I saw that he would never let the people touch me.
Eventually the servants were finished with the decorations and furniture that would be used for the reception. Aro and I went into the throne room first with the children behind us, and my king brother and queen sister behind them. We sat down at the table that was made for the royal family and watched as everyone else came into the room before sitting down at their assigned tables.
Making sure that everyone had sat down and gotten settled I stood up from where I had been sitting and clapped my hands together. Every face turned themselves towards me, waiting with patience. None of them seemed as though they were upset with how everything had gone, but they did seem as though they were bored. I would make sure to rectify this, there would be more than just dancing around and classical music playing.
"As your newly crowned queen for King Aro, I have decided to bestow upon you a gift for you to enjoy. I know that you're probably thirsty, and I have asked you to come to the wedding prepared for a buffet. It is with this that I ask the servants to bring the food in."
The servants came into the room with people dressed in finery, in the best clothes they would ever be able to afford. Diamond necklaces and earrings, Rolex watches that were in pure gold and pure silver. The best fabric, the best shoes. Makeup that was done delicately on the women, hair styled in such a way it would make them all beautiful.
It was eerie, as though I had added them to the wedding in order to make sure a union would be made between us and the humans. It was quite the opposite; this wasn't supposed to be some heartwarming moment between us and the humans.
"Please come forward and select whichever one you prefer. They are drugged, but they can still feel. They just can't fight back," I added, making all the guests smile widely at what I was offering to them. They soon came forward, their crimson eyes brightening even more.
Once every person had chosen their person they wanted to eat from, I motioned for them to go back to their spots they were originally at.
They sat down and placed the humans in their laps, some of the vampires were sniffing the neck while others were playing with the hair. They were inspecting their food and made sure they didn't find anything that would turn them off from it.
"Let the feast begin."
THE END
AND THERE YOU GO: THE ENDING OF 'BORN TO RULE'. I want to thank everyone who has read this while it was in progress. I am also letting you know that I'm going to do a different storyline for my Marcus book. I'm going to have it where Bella is the reincarnation of Didyme. Caius and Aro are already dead, and their wives have taken over to be the queens and Marcus is still king (so basically Life & Death). Bella will start as a senior at Forks High. Titled: Bring Me Back.
I hope that you will enjoy a different version, since I think that the miscarriage thing had too many un left questions and it was a good idea and I good practice for me to write for her and Marcus. I'm also going to make Bella Black in this fanfiction, (a long time ago I wrote a story called Equinox and didn't research properly how to write a colored person when I'm white and ended up deleting that, so I did some research and looked up the right way to write a different race. Including hair, what colors to use for describing a black person's skin.)
anyway, I hope that you enjoyed 'Born to Rule'.
as always: Twilight doesn't belong to me.
