"Why?" A young girl with deep red hair asked aloud to the Kami as she scaled a mountain behind her village, "why do they blame me for Mito's actions even when I am nowhere near them? Yondaime-sama doesn't even let me defend myself and Uzumaki-sama acts like I don't exist!" While ranting, the child stumbles across a cave and enters, not noticing the root and sinkhole in front of her. "At least Yondaime-sama can't- '' Cutting herself off abruptly, the young girl trips over the root and ends up falling in the sinkhole.
Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.
One day, war broke out between the two races.
After a long battle, the humans were victorious.
They sealed the monsters underground with a powerful mixture of magic and jutsu.
Many years later…

Legends say those who climb the mountain never return.
A dark laugh can be heard as a yellow flower sways in the wind for a moment before disappearing into the ground.

The girl continues falling, her green eyes closing from the pressure before she suddenly lands on a patch of golden flowers, having the wind knocked out of her. 'Nngh- What happened- ' The child sat up with a groan, her eyes watering from the pain of landing. 'There's no way I should've survived that fall.' She slowly stands, looking back up at the hole in the ceiling before noticing a path and a purple doorway. 'Guess there's no way except forward but…' Her eyes narrow, a faint flash of red and cyan seen in the green orbs, 'something isn't right here.' The girl continues on, cataloging her surroundings and stopping in front of a patch of grass with a golden flower on it, light illuminating it almost as though a spotlight were shining on it.
"Howdy! I'm Flowey!" The girl startles as a face seems to appear suddenly on the now talking flower, "Flowey the Flower!"
"..." The child says nothing as she looks at Flowey with no emotion, hiding the wariness and distrust she feels.
"You're new to the Underground, aren't cha. Golly, you must be so confused!" Flowey seems to perk up as he says that, "someone ought to teach you how things work down here! I guess little old me will have to do." Flowey's grin widens as he says this. "Ready? Here we go!"
A small cyan and green stylized heart appears from the girl's chest, an interaction menu appearing in front of her.

"See that heart? That's your SOUL, the very culmination of your being!" As Flowey talks, Naru focuses on moving her SOUL, seeing it slowly start to react how she wants. "Your SOUL starts out weak but grows stronger if you gain a lot of LV. What does LV stand for? Why, LOVE of course! You want some LOVE, don'tcha? Well of course I'll share some with ya!" Flowey winks and sticks out his tongue, a small white star appearing next to him before fading, "down here, LOVE is shared through little, white… friendliness pellets! Are you ready? Move around! Get as many as you can."
As Flowey sends a barrage of pellets at Naru, the redhead gets a bad feeling, dodging the bullets instinctively and shuddering slightly. Flowey's grin seems to strain slightly, "hey buddy, you missed them. Let's try again, okay?" As Naru is still trying to ignore the bad feeling, she gets hit by one of the bullets. Flowey starts laughing darkly, "You IDIOT! In this world, it's KILL or BE KILLED. Why would anyone pass up an opportunity like this?! DIE!" As Flowey laughs maniacally, he creates a ring of pellets surrounding Naru's SOUL. The redhead flinches, closing her eyes and raising her arms in a defensive position before hearing a whoosh and Flowey's laughter disappearing.
"What a miserable creature," as Naru opens her eyes, she sees an anthropomorphic goat wearing a purple dress. "Are you alright, my child?" The woman's voice is soft as she turns towards the child.
"I-" Naru's eyes widened, unused to hearing such care turned towards her. As she looks into the woman's eyes, she sees the KINDNESS the goat holds. "I'm alright."
"I am Toriel, caretaker of the RUINS. I apologize for almost being late, my child." As Toriel says this, she runs a small scan on Naru using her healing magic, ensuring the child was in good health. "Please, allow me to take you back to my home so that I may treat any injuries you might have." As Naru moves to nod, she suddenly gets lightheaded, stumbling and falling, passing out. Toriel quickly moves to catch the redhead, a concerned look on her face as the scan reveals severe exhaustion and malnutrition. The Monster hurries home, carefully holding the young girl.

Naru slowly awakens, hearing the sound of dripping water and breathing. 'Wh-'
"It's about time you woke up." Yelping, Naru quickly jumps to her feet and turns to where the voice came from, pausing at seeing a cage with a seal on it alongside giant red glowing eyes, "I was wondering when I would get to meet my jailer."
"Your what?!" As Naru says this, the being in the cage moves into the light, revealing a giant red fox with nine tails.
"You heard me gaki." Naru flinches as she realizes what she's looking at. "Then again, you seem quite surprised to be seeing me." The kyūbi snorts as he lies down, crossing his paws, "those rumours of me being dead really did stick then." As Naru continues to look over the fox, she notices something off about him. "Not going to say anything?"
"...your chakra. What's wrong with it?" The kyūbi seems surprised before he laughs.
"Not bad brat. Then again, you do seem to be quite the sensor." His laughing slowly dies down as he puts his head on his paws, "as you no doubt guess, I'm not the full Kyūbi-no-Kitsūne. No, I was split that night into two separate parts." The fox has a wide smirk as he speaks, "while my chakra was sealed into your brat of a sister, my magic and SOUL was sealed into you." Naru continues to study the beast.
"What do I call you then?"
"You'll have to earn my name brat. For now, just call me Kyūbi." Kyūbi seems amused as his tails wave in the air behind him. "You should wake up soon. The monster who helped you is getting quite worried." Before Naru can say anything else, Kyūbi flicks one of his tails, making her vision go black. As Naru slowly starts to regain her senses, she can hear Toriel humming something, slightly muffled as though the goat is in a different room. Opening her eyes, the redhead can faintly smell cinnamon and sits up.
"Oh! You're up!" Toriel walks into the room with a small smile, holding a plate with a pie slice on it, "I was worried when you suddenly collapsed like that. Thankfully, there were no injuries to be concerned over." As the woman hands over the plate, Naru thinks about how different the Underground seems to be, even if Flowey tried to kill her.
"Uhm, Ms. Toriel?" Naru begins shyly, messing with the fork she was handed alongside the plate, "what's the Underground like?" Toriel seems to pause a moment, surprise overtaking her features before she smiles.
"It is full of kind people, although outside the RUINS, you might encounter trouble. There is a ah-" Toriel frowns slightly as she remembers something, "-there is a law regarding humans that makes it quite dangerous if you leave the RUINS." She looks away from Naru, looking forlorn. "I have already lost 6 children to this." As Naru runs through this information in her head, she finishes the pie.
"Then… would it be alright if I stayed here?" As Toriel turns to look at Naru in shock, the girl quickly stammers, trying to explain herself. "I-I mean, it must be pretty lonely by yourself down here! And I uhm, I can help out with any chores you need done! I just-" Naru starts playing with her hair, a blush colouring her face, "-I don't really have anywhere to go."
Toriel gently moves to brush Naru's hair out of her face, a soft smile on the Boss monster's muzzle, "I would be delighted to have you here."
