Letters Bo and Luke wrote to each other over the years. Everything from thank yous to 'I hate you' sibling notes.
Believe me I know a lot about 'I hate you' sibling notes: I've written and received many of them in my day.
Each chapter is a different year, but not all years will be included. Incidents will be separated by numbers. Some sections are more of a story, others just have a letter/note.
Italics in quotes are the letters/notes, and just italics are thoughts. Bold text are author's notes, like this one.
Sorry to be so dang technical, I have OCD, so everything must be perfect, lol.
This is set in my edited version of cannon, which is posted on my profile.
Hope y'all enjoy it.
I DON'T OWN THE DUKES OF HAZZARD
Chapter One,
1965, Luke 9, Bo 7:
1. Luke was furious with Bo. He saw Jill first, and she was his age, not Bo's. He woke up early one morning before anyone else was up. When he went to put his boots on, he found a paper in the left one. He picked it up and read Bo's messy 7-year-old writing:
"I don't care if you saw her first and anyhow you ain't the boss of me.
Writed by Bo Duke to his bossy cousin Luke."
Luke went over to Bo's bed and ripped his blankets off.
"Bo!" He shouted in his face.
"What do ya want?" Bo snapped.
"Why don't ya find a girl yer own age?" Luke questioned angrily.
"I see ya found ma note!" Bo grinned.
"Yeah, I found yer dang note." Luke grabbed him by his shoulders and pulled him out of bed. "Jill don't even like you!"
"Ask her when ya see her at school today." Bo crossed his arms.
...
The boys'd just gotten home from school, and Luke'd been at baseball practice.
"What'd Jill say?" Bo asked Luke.
"If you would've jus' stayed outta my business..." Luke gritted his teeth.
"She likes me, huh?" Bo laughed.
"How'd you like it if I went an' charmed all the girls in your class?" Luke demanded.
"They wouldn't like you, they all like me." Bo smiled.
He didn't know what came over him, but before he even knew what he was doing, Luke was swinging his baseball bat at Bo. Bo dodged it, but in the process, he smashed his head into the wall, leaving a Bo's head sized hole in the wall. Luke's baseball bat split right down the middle when it connected with the wall, where it left a small dent. Bo fell to the ground, but quickly got to his knees.
"Yer gonna be sorry..." Bo stumbled to his feet.
Luke was gonna continue the fight, but then he saw blood trickling from the side of Bo's head.
"You got lucky, Bo." Luke grabbed him before he fell to the ground.
"Let me go!" Bo tried to squirm away from him.
"I ain't gonna hurt ya." Luke sighed. "Aunt Lavinia!" Luke called.
"You ain't gonna snitch on me! I'm gonna snitch on you!" Bo complained.
Lavinia weren't gonna come though, she was out shoppin' with Daisy.
Jesse came running in from the barn. "What in tarnation is goin' on in here?"
"Luke tired to hit me with his baseball bat!" Bo reported.
Jesse saw the busted bat and the whole in the wall. "Is that true, Luke?"
"Yes sir. But I missed an' he hit his head on the wall." Luke showed the blood to Uncle Jesse.
Jesse took the 7-year-old in his arms and placed him on the couch.
"Luke, go get a towel from the kitchen." Jesse ordered, in a calm, yet furious voice.
"Yes sir." Luke went to do as he was told. He'd forgotten about the whole 'Jill' thing for now, seeing as how he'd really hurt Bo.
"Bo look at me." Jesse got a flash light and checked Bo's pupils.
"I'm fine, Uncle Jesse, but Luke ain't gonna be when I'm-"
"Bo, stop it." Jesse took the towel that Luke handed to him and began cleaning the blood from Bo's head.
"Luke, you an' me is gonna have a talk in the barn after this, young man." Jesse stated furiously.
"He okay?" Luke asked quietly.
"I'm fine!" Bo sat up.
"He's alright. But no thanks to you..." Jesse finished with Bo's head, as there wasn't too much blood and it'd already stopped bleeding.
Jesse gave Bo some ice to put on his head, and then he took Luke out to the barn for a good spanking.
...
"Goodnight, Bo." Luke turned out the lights.
Bo ignored him. He was deeply hurt that Luke would dare try to hit him with a baseball bat. He remained angry 'cause he didn't know what else to feel.
"Bo, I'm sorry, I jus'-"
"Jus' shut up." Bo snapped.
Luke decided to shut up and go to sleep, Bo wasn't gonna listen.
The next morning, Bo woke up an' Luke was already gone. He looked at the clock, 5:45. He was 15 minutes late for chores an' nobody'd come to get him. He dressed and went to put his boots on, and he found a small piece of paper in his left boot.
"Sorry I swung at you. I never would've hit you, and you know it. If Jill likes you I guess that's her problem. I'd never hurt you real bad on purpose.
WRITEN by Luke Duke to his little cousin Bo, who he loves very much even when he's being annoying."
Bo ran out to the barn where he knew he'd find Luke doing chores.
"Hey." Bo picked up a pitchfork to help him clean Maudine's stall.
"Mornin'."
"Sorry I stole Jill from ya..." Bo looked at the ground.
"Don't you do nothin' like that ever again, you hear?" Luke demanded, but he was chuckling.
"I don't reckon I will." Bo continued looking at the ground.
Luke dropped his pitchfork and approached Bo, placing a hand on his shoulder and extending his left hand.
Bo took his hand and they shook hands. "Now, let's get back to work 'for Uncle Jesse gets here." Luke clapped Bo on the back.
Jesse'd been watching from the porch. Just like he'd been raising 'em, they'd shook hands and made up.
based on a comment the boys made in "Farewell Hazzard", and Jill is the Jill Dodson from "One Armed Bandits"
2. Luke was at school in History class. He opened his history book and found a note inside, written in Bo's unmistakeable 7-year-old scrawl:
"Please come find me at recess I need your help. Someone is after me and I think he can beat me up."
3. Bo woke up to the sound of an alarm at 5:30. He an' Luke never used an alarm, Luke would always just wake Bo when it was time to get up. How Luke always knew when it was 5:30 in his sleep, Bo would never know. He looked over to Luke's bed and saw that it was empty, aside from a note that was on the pillow:
"I went fishing with some of my friends. I did my chores and set an alarm for you. Please don't follow me cause I wanna hang out with my friends today. I swear, I'll ride bikes with you when I get home. -Luke"
This one is dedicated to my older brother: I remember when I had to learn that me and my little brother weren't the only friends he had in the world. It must've been really frustrating for him when we'd fuss at him.
Anyway, that's 1965 in notes an' letters. I'm doing 1969 next, but if I have another idea for 1965, I'll come back and edit it in.
