Arthur ran down towards the stable and saw Morgana standing outside with her horse that she had tied to a pole.

''Hi,'' she smiled towards him as he approached her and he greeted her back.

''Thank you for helping me with this, Arthur,'' she continued.

''Of course,'' he smiled back. He picked up one hoof and started to trim it with his tools.

''You know, this is nice,'' Morgana said as Arthur moved on to the second hoof.

''To watch me get dirt on my clothes?'' Arthur laughed as he swept his arm over his forehead. Morgana laughed.

''No, I meant this,'' she said and pointed between him and her.

''It feels like the old days when we used to spend more time together,'' she said and he knew what she menat.

''We were kids with no responsibilities. But now I barely know anything about you anymore,'' she added.

''Yeah, I guess so,'' Arthur said and looked at her.

''But we have time now, what would you like to know?'' he asked, now making his way towards the third hoof.

''Hmm, well do you fancy anyone?'' she said and gave him a mocking look. His smile started to fade but he made sure to quickly pick it up again before clearing his throat.

''No one actually, how about you?'' he said as steady as he could. She observed him for a while before narrowing her eyes on him.

''Actually yes, I think that prince William is kind of cute,'' she said and giggled. He looked over at her in surprise. It never accrued to him that she could marry a royal person if she wanted to. She was the king's ward and of high rank because of that.

''I see, is the feeling mutual?'' Arthur asked and tried to sound happy for her.

''I think so, yes. He has asked me out for dinner almost every night since the tournament,'' she said with joy in her voice. The happiness she showed made him genuinely happy for her. He was a little surprised that he had not noticed this, but then again, he had been a little occupied since the other families had arrived.

''As he should, you deserve the world, Morgana,'' he smiled at her. Even thought they did not share blood, he saw her as his sister.

''Thank you, Arthur. But I have not told Uther jet so keep it to yourself as I... get the chance to explore what this could or could not be,'' she said and he gave her a nod.

''You have my word,'' he assured her and she gave him a smile in return.

''Now, are you going to be honest with me about my initial question – or would you like to continue to lie?'' she said and gave him a look that told him that there was no point in arguing with her, she knew. He sighed and moved on to the fourth and last hoof.

''There is a girl, but it could never be anything between us,'' he said and she started to jump up and down in excitement.

''I knew it! Oh, to think that a woman has managed to get the attention of Arthur Pendragon,'' Morgana said and laughed.

''Okay, okay, but tell me more! Why could it never be? Does Uther not approve of her?'' Morgana asked and tilted her head to the side. Arthur could tell she was very invested in this, and he didn't expect anything less from her when it came to the topic of relationships since Morgana has talked about love since she was little.

''He doesn't know jet, but yes, he would not approve,'' Arthur said.

''But love is love, Arthur! Who is she? A maid? She must be a maid. You know I always figured it would me a maid because you are very key to women being humble,'' she said eagerly and closed her hands together.

''Yes, she is,'' Arthur said a little nervously.

''I knew it! Oh but surely Uther could rethink if he understands you love her?'' she said with a soft voice and Arthur stopped his movements by the mention of the word love. He quickly contained to take care of the hoof to avoid any reactions.

''Well, it's a little more complicated than that,'' he said with a soft smile instead.

''Why? Does she not like you back?'' Morgana frowned.

''Ehm, well she's in a difficult position as well so none of us have really gotten the chance to... explore our feeling as you put it,'' he said and really wanted this conversation to end.

''Yes of course, it can't be easy for her either...'' Morgana said and shook her head, thinking.

Arthur finished the last hoof before him and Morgana walked up to the castle again and headed straight towards the dining hall.

''Ah, there you are,'' Uther said when he spotted them. Arthur pulled out a chair for Morgana and she thanked him before sitting down. He then took the seat in front of her.

''Are we celebrating?'' Morgana smiled when she looked over the table. She had never seen it this full before.

''We are indeed, the republicans tried to strike a village outside of the north but the troupes managed to stop that from happening. 45 men slaughtered,'' Uther said with a grin across his face. Arthur observed him for a while and feared sometimes for the throne. He hoped he did not have to be like his father to be able to become king.

''Sound like a real victory indeed,'' Morgana smiled and it made Uther happy. She was always good at knowing how to handle Uther, Arthur thought.

''Princess,'' by that word, the hair on Arthur's arm rose. He shifted his head towards the left and saw how Leon helped Elena sit on a chair next to her father.

''Hello, my lady,'' Morgana tilted her head forward and smiled at Elena. Elena looked at her and returned the smile. It had been days, and still she had this power over him. She looked just as Leon had described her, especially her tired eyes.

''How are you feeling, dear?'' James now spoke and a chatter began.

Arthur was careful not to look at her too often during dinner, he was sitting at the opposite end of the table which made it a little easier. She didn't say much but sometimes he saw her talk to William, Anette and James that sat near her. He was surprised that she had not once looked over at him, but he could not blame her either after everything.

After dinner, Arthur walked Morgana to her chamber and he could have sworn that he saw Lancelot escorting Elena after the four kings had asked for the room to themselves.

''So, what did you think of dinner?'' Morgana asked and Arthur frowned confused to the question since it was nothing they usually asked each other.

''Good I guess, nice food,'' he replied.

''Yeah. It was a shame that the princess was sitting so far away thought,'' Morgana said and Arthur started to feel a little nervous.

''Yeah, you seem to like her, I understand it must be nice with another woman around. I'll try to make sure that you sit next to her next time,'' Arthur said and Morgana narrowed her eyes on him.

''Mhm... thank you,'' she said and he gave away an awkward nod.

''She's very beautiful too,'' she continued and Arthur did not understand why she was doing this to him.

''I haven't really thought about it, but I suppose so now that you mention it,'' he replied and started to become proud of his so far diplomatic answers.

''Arthur, I saw the way you looked at her during dinner,'' she finally admitted and Arthur stopped.

''What do you mean?'' he frowned and tried to act as confused as possible.

''You know what I mean. I don't know how I thought that you would be interested in a maid, of course it was her! You like the princess!'' she said and hit his chest lightly. Arthur quickly turned his head around to make sure that no one heard them before turning back to her.

''That is ridiculous Morgana and you know that, I do not like her,'' he objected.

''Don't lie to me, I know what I saw,'' she continued and smirked.

''Morgana,'' Arthur said sharply and walked closer to her. The smirk on her face disappeared as she looked him in the eyes.

''I. Do not. Like. Her,'' he said with fear in his eyes. This made her release the seriousness of the topic and she shook her head before taking one step back.

''I don't know what I was thinking, I'm sorry!'' she said as she looked around to see if someone had heard her. She then gave him a remorseful gaze.

''I won't speak a word of it ever again,'' she assured him and with that, he gave her a small nod. They walked in silence until they reached the doors to Morgana's chamber.

''I'm sorry that the rules are the way they are,'' Morgana said with a low voice and Arthur was grateful for her kindness.

''It is what it is,'' he tried to smile it away and she gave him a sad smile in return. She placed one hand on his arm and forced him to look at her.

''Everyone is entitled to love, Arthur. Regardless of their title,'' she said. He just looked back at her in silence.
