Day 95
This really was Hawks nightmare. He missed her so much. She was the angel of his dreams and now she was the angel of his nightmare.
He sat at the almost painful dinner with the league. The place he had once felt like he had a place in but now felt like a shadow.
Because Ali was a light.
She talked and fit in with the misfits. He missed her for much. He remembers the conversations that they use to have. She was one that always struggled with friends and finding a place to belong.
Of course having a secret boyfriend for years was no help either. Having to hide where she lived and always making time to be the perfect partner for home.
He had wasted so much time that they had together and now she was just a voice in his head.
Hawks watched as she interacted with Dabi and Compress. The closeness of the villain and his ex didn't anger him anymore. It simply made him sad. They looked so natural together and he had to wonder if what they had ever held a similar flame.
Oh how he wanted to be the one next to her. But he was filled with shame as he ate the mean it just weighed him down.
Toga kept conversation with him but he was so zoned out he wasn't even sure how he managed to converse on autopilot. Clearly the commissions training was good for something.
"Wow. You really ate all of that. I wasn't sure you'd eat it all." Toga pointed out.
He had loaded his plate because all he could think about was how much he had missed her food.
How much he missed her.
Hawks fought back the liquid that wanted to stream out of his tear ducts.
"Yeah, Well, I can't remember the last time I had a home cooked meal."
With a bittersweet smile he looked down at the empty plate.
