I do not own Naruto.
This story is just a product of my boredom.
165 Days Before the Incident
It has been ten days since I started taking extra classes to prepare myself for the entrance exam at Konoha University. I know I am not stupid; I have fairly good grades, and if my father did not have such high standards, he would be proud of me. However, with all the school work I am doing, I don't know if I can ace these extra classes. Additionally, due to the numerous responsibilities I have taken on, I have lost any form of socialization.
I haven't been in the club room for over a week now. I wonder if Sasuke still drops by. We are classmates, but we don't interact much in class. Well, besides the occasional glance I give him. Sometimes, I want to message him. I want him to pick me up and take me to that cafe. I want to be anywhere but here.
Then one day, in our English class, something unexpected happened. Our teacher assigned the novel 'Romeo and Juliet' as our final project. We would be divided into pairs. The pairings would be determined by drawing random numbers. Whoever drew the same number as their partner would be paired together.
I do not mind who my partner will be; I am just worried no one will want me as their partner.
Also, I have to remind you that changing partners is not allowed. Now, go to the board and write your names under the numbers you have picked.
My number is ten. I did not bother to look around; I simply wrote my name on the board. However, I soon heard murmurs and disappointed sighs. I looked beside me to see my partner. To my surprise, it was Sasuke.
He looked at me as if he were curious about why I was so surprised. Then he silently walked towards his seat as if nothing had happened. I bowed my head, and a small smile appeared on my face. This wasn't bad at all, or so I thought.
"Now, I want you to sit beside your partner and discuss your plan."
I was about to walk toward Sasuke's seat when I saw him walking towards me. All of my girl classmates were eyeing me dangerously.
"Poor Hinata, she was partnered with Sasuke teme." Naruto exclaimed.
"Idiot, before you worry about other people, worry about us." Kiba said. Apparently the two of them are partners.
And the class laughed at them.
"Hey." Sasuke said quietly.
"Hey." I said smiling at him.
"So, what will be our plan?" His tone wasn't as cold as it used to be.
"Have you read it?" I asked.
"What do you think." He snorted and I almost laugh.
"Yeah, why did I even ask."
"I presume you read it already?"
"What about no too?"
He raised his eyebrows and in a low, almost whispered voice asked, "And you're a member of the book club?"
"I just don't like it." I told him. "But I guess I have no choice but to read it."
"Yeah same here." Then he added. "Do you have a copy?"
"I think we have that in our club room."
"Great, you could start reading it."
I raised an eyebrow then he added. "I'll be reading it too."
"Great. We'll just pick a scene after we're done reading."
"That's a good plan."
And the rest of the time was spent in total silence.
"Ok class, get back to your proper seat." Kurenai sensei said.
When he stood up, he whispered, "I'll pick you up later."
For some unknown reason I turned deep red. I just hope no one had noticed.
