"Son I believe it is time for you to see how things operate down in the mines," Jaques says to a young 9 year old Whitley.
"Really sir you think I can do it," Whitley says with excitement.
Little did the world now but this small decision would lead to a world of changes.
(Time skip cause I'm lazy and it's late)
Whitley Schnee arrives at mine 17. It's one of the lesser mines minds you, but a dust mine none the less, it is staffed by 30 men and one overseer. It is located 50 miles away from the City of Mantle. But the strangest thing was how heavily armed the guards were.
Whitley is guided into the mine by one of the guards, he had told Whitley his name and the rules but Whitley's mind could only think of one thing.
It was ungodly cold in the mine.
As Whitley took in his environment he saw Faunus, they looked like they hadn't had a shower in years. He saw something else that gst his attention, the scars. All the Faunus were covered in scars the, the men had it the worst though. He could see that some of them were missing one of their faunus ears. It scared him a lot.
"Mister," Whitley said, "Why don't you have a jacket?"
The faunus laughed before saying, "They don't give us anything like that, you should know that Schnee," he said the last word with venom in his tone.
"I don't know, but I know that you should have one in this cold of temperature's," Whitley said his innocents showing in his unknowing voice.
The faunus smiled realizing that he really couldn't be mad at the kid, "Yeah you're right we soul-
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING GET AWAY FROM HIM!," boomed the voice of the of the guard that brought him in.
He raised his baton reading to beat the poor faunus before remembering what the Overseer had told all the guards earlier that day.
"If any of you even show that boy how we truly handle these creatures then I will personally see that none of you ever see the light of day again."
He stopped, looking down at Whitley, before putting down his baton.
"Come on kid, let's continue the tour," he said looking at Whitley.
"Ok, bye mister Wolf," he said to the Wolf faunus behind him.
"Bye kid," he said back.
(Later in one of the deeper tunnels)
We once more find Whitley completely alone. Once more Whitley managed to get away from the guard and talk to the faunus. He enjoyed talking to them a lot, but something still confused him. Father had told him that all the Faunus were was animals, but these people were just like the butlers and maids of the Schnee Manor. Something wasn't adding up in Whitley's young mind. He would have to talk to Mother about it when he got home from his trip.
Whitley turns one more corner before seeing a man standing over a young female Chameleon faunus.
"I'm going to teach you how to use that mouth for something other than talking back," he said to the young girl who could be any older than 10.
"No please I wont ever do it again I swear," she begs as the guard began to pull down his pants.
That's when something broke in Whitley.
His innocence.
His morals.
And his emotions.
You see, in the world of Remnant, people are gifted this incredible thing called aura. Aura is the physical manifestation of the soul. Along with aura came semblances, which can be unlock during strong physical or emotional events. Whitley's aura had been unlocked at a young age by his Mother, her being worried for her only son after a attack on her and her eldest when they had been in the city.
He had unlocked only a small part of his semblance, but it was a very important part.
