I don't own Loonatics Unleashed

Enjoy!

Tech E. Coyote almost got run over by the speeding object down the sidewalk. When he noticed a small fireball making its way towards him, he jumped out of the way and plastered himself against the wall of the building. The heat from the fire warmed against his fur and he let out a sigh of relief, hoping that none of his fur was burned off. He had suffered enough of things exploding in front of his face for today.

After he had finished his little lunchtime coffee break at the shack, he had returned to the university to get started on the device that his professor recommended to change. After working on the device for months on end, Tech couldn't find the will to make any changes to it, no matter how much it affected his grade. It was his 'baby' after all and it hadn't shown its full potential yet. What did that professor know anyway? It wasn't as if he looked closely at the blueprints to understand what Tech had designed.

The rest of the day at the university hadn't been as terrible as he had originally thought. Quinn had been communicative and, dare he think it, interested in another project that they were designing. Either she just wanted to get the day over with or she had a rush of adrenaline to learn more about what they were trying to design. He didn't know about that but it was better than having to argue with a wolf that struggled with her confidence. He was just glad that he wasn't one of those students who tried to fish for compliments from other colleagues. When it came to projects, having a 'million' of them open was not the most productive way to go about things. There were moments where he forgot which project was finished and which one they were currently working on. However, no matter how much they had opened, there were times when he would get around to it and finish it.

Wasn't what this world had come to in the end? There was so much development of technologies in the last seven hundred years that when Tech compared the devices during the time of his ancestors, everything seemed like child's play. He looked back at those technologies for reference and any kind of apparatus that he could use. Just because some of those devices were out of date did not necessarily mean that they couldn't be used as a substitute.

What would his ancestors think if they were to see all of this? He knew that one coyote in the family tree was passionate in using devices to catch a roadrunner eight hundred and twenty-three years ago. But who was counting? Unlike his ancestors, Tech didn't have the predatory instincts when it came to hunting for his prey. With that roadrunner that he had met back at the shack, he didn't feel that urge to chase him. The only thing that Tech could hypothesize was that, maybe, through evolution predator and prey coexisted and that's when they found peace with one another. How it came between coyotes and roadrunners particularly, he just didn't know the answer to that.

Evolution was an interesting concept, but the more he dived deeply into it and tried to understand it, the more perplexed he got. Even though he considered himself to be highly intellectual, there were still some moments where he would find himself questioning the theories of a certain subject. That's what made these subjects more interesting.

He looked up when he a piece of paper fluttering to the ground. Looking up, he noticed a female roadrunner struggling to get those pieces of paper together into the folder that she had in her hands. It didn't take too long for him to realize who it was, for she was the waitress that worked over at the shack. He just didn't have the pleasure in meeting her. He found it a bit odd how whenever he came to the shack, it was always Rev that served him and not her. He was curious to know what was on the paper, but quickly averted his eyes. He was adamant when it came to invasion of privacy, especially with someone that he didn't know. But he was able to catch a glimpse at the name that was written on what looked like a resume.

He walked over to the roadrunner and beheld a gentle smile upon his lips. "I believe this belongs to you," he said as he held out the resume towards her.

"Oh-thank—" her eyes opened wide when she noticed whom it was. Oh-no she thought as she froze in place. A-coyote!

If Tech were to ask her what was wrong, he would feel extremely ignorant. Alas, he knew that this was something that he was going to live with. Anything that was deemed as prey, they would be quick enough to judge him that he was nothing but a heartless predator. Was he going to have to say, every time that he tried to help somebody, 'don't worry. I'm not going to eat you?' At least he didn't feel like a threat over at the university. Aside from his professors, Mallory, and Quinn, the only time that someone had spoken to him was that female rabbit when he had bumped with her in the hallway and from what he remembered, she didn't see him as a threat. Looking back at the female roadrunner, he didn't know long she had that shocked looked in her face until he let out a sigh. "Aren't you gonna take it?" he asked her, "my arm is getting tired."

Ever so slowly she took a hold of the resume and placed it inside her folder. "Please," she said to Tech, "I'm-just-trying-to-look-for-a-job.-I've-had-a-tough-day-already-and-I don't-want-to-get-eaten."

Tech rolled his eyes at her. But of course, saying something like that to a predator was more than enough to reach an agreement. "It's not on my to-do list," the coyote answered her with a stoic look on his face as he began to walk past her.

"Tech?" a voice said behind him as he turned around and saw that Rev had joined the party. "Michelle?-I-didn't-know-you-guys-finally-met!"

"We-didn't," Michelle answered him.

"I was just walking by and helped her with some papers," Tech said, deciding not to add the 'she told me not to eat her' part of the interaction.

"Well-that's-great!" Rev said to them with a smile upon his beak, "it's-great-to-see-to-friends-of-mine-getting-to-know-each-other!"

Whoa friends? Tech thought as he raised an eyebrow at Rev. He had talked with the roadrunner a couple of times and he already considered him as a friend? He was aware that roadrunners were friendly birds, but not this friendly!

"This-coyote-is-your-friend?" Michelle asked Rev as she pointed at Tech.

"Yeah," Rev nodded his head to her, "we've-talked-plenty-of-times-when-he-came-to-the-shack.-He's-the-one-that-repaired-my-rocket-blades-remember-that?" he asked as he looked over at Tech.

Tech remembered when he saw Rev speeding down the street, one of his rocket blades malfunctioned causing the roadrunner to fall. Being the good Samaritan that he was, he had offered to fix the malfunctioned rocket blade and when he did so, Rev had been very happy with the result. However, Tech didn't know that this was what may have caused them to create a sudden friendship with one another. "Glad to see that they're working out for you," Tech commented and looked at the rocket blades.

"I-still-need-to-fix-the-speed-but-I'm-able-to-get-the-food-to-customers-before-the-thirty-minutes-are-up," the male roadrunner stated with a little bit of pride. At least he had been paid the last couple of times and had gotten tipped for it as well.

Michelle looked from the coyote and over to the roadrunner. If Rev knew him so well, then she felt that she should at least trust her ex-coworker. She offered Tech a sheepish smile and blushed from the embarrassment of having been quick to judge Tech.

"Hey!" Rev suggested as he held a finger in the air, "why-don't-the-three-of-us-meet-up-one-day?-It'll-be-fun."

Too friendly and sociable. "I wish I can but I have to finish a project at the university. I'm tutoring someone."

"Ah-I'm-sure-an-hour-or-two-wouldn't-hurt," Rev said to him, "you-can-bring-him-too."

"It's a 'her'," Tech corrected him, "and she doesn't get out much."

"Maybe-it'll-be-good-for-her," Michelle jumped into the conversation, now beginning to feel a little bit comfortable with the coyote, seeing that he didn't have that instinct to kill. "I-get-that-some-humans-can-be-shy-but-we're-friendly-with-them."

"Yeah…about that," Tech couldn't help but chuckle, "she's not a human. She's a wolf."

Both Rev and Michelle gaped at him before looking at one another. "I'll-think-about-it-but-I-gotta-go-look-for-jobs-bye!" Michelle said as she turned on her heel and zipped away from them.

Rev slowly shook his head at Michelle's reaction. "Don't-worry-about-Michelle," he said to Tech, "I'm-sure-she's-a-lovely-wolf."

Sure. Absolutely lovely. Lovely enough to drive him up the wall.
