I don't own Loonatics Unleashed

Enjoy!

This was one of the most random things that Tech E. Coyote had ever done. He wondered why he had bothered to agree with Rev about all four them meeting up for the afternoon. Through the days that had passed, Tech hoped that the roadrunner had forgotten about it, which was one of the reasons why he hadn't said anything to Quinn in the first place. However, when he showed up at the shack yesterday for that afternoon coffee, Rev had excitedly 'reminded' him about it once more. Tech had the opportunity to say no, but there was just something about this roadrunner where he felt that he couldn't. Just as nice as it was to see him excited, he didn't want to be the one to cause him any hurt. In the end, the coyote had agreed to do, much to the roadrunner's delight. Maybe Rev did see him as a friend after all.

One thing had been on his mind though. What were they even going to talk about? He could hardly hold up a conversation with Quinn, he didn't know Michelle at all, and Rev, well he could find something to talk about. Instead of just locking himself up in the classroom and finishing his project, which was due in a couple of days, he was going to waste time with lighthearted conversations.

"What is taking her so long?" Tech thought and looked over in the direction where Quinn had disappeared. They were just going to go out for a coffee with two other people, not ballroom dancing. He felt that he could have used these past couple of minutes adjusting his design. Even though he knew really well that there was no reason for it, he just wanted to keep himself busy.

When he heard a pair of footsteps finally coming his way, he turned around and encountered the wolf that he had been waiting for. His eyes slightly opened at what he saw. Ever since he had become her tutor, it was only the usual jeans, cardigan, and laboratory coat that he had seen with her. Now she sported blue jeans, a white shirt, and a beige trench coat. His eyes could deceive him, but he also assumed that she was wearing a little bit of eyeshadow as she approached him and some light lip gloss. He would be lying if he wasn't thinking that she looked good.

"Sorry," Quinn said as she adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and gave him an apologetic look. "It's not every day I get invited to these social outings. It was very nice of your friend to do that."

Had he forgotten a small little detail about his friend? Yes. He wondered what Quinn would think when they met up with two roadrunners. "It was unexpected," Tech answered her, "but I just couldn't say no to him."

A blissful smile was upon her lips as she looked at Tech up and down. Out of the usual laboratory coat that he wore, it was nice to see him wearing something casual for once. Beige pants held by a black belt and a blue button-down shirt. Very simple, yet handsome. She dared think of such a word for him and was glad that this was an emotion that she could control. As for anger…well she wasn't as proficient in it as she thought she was.

"What's he like?" Quinn then asked when they started walking down the street together. "Your friend, I mean."

"He's nice," was the first thing that left Tech's mouth and he facepalmed when he said that. Yeah, how descriptive.

A light chuckle escaped Quinn as she looked at him. "I understood that," she said to him, "but other than his personality. Does he go to school? Does he work?"

"He works," Tech answered her, "down by the Quick Wrap Sandwich Shack."

"Ah-ha," Quinn said as she pointed to him, "your little hang out spot. You never invite me there."

It wasn't that he hadn't thought about doing so. He just enjoyed some time to himself after such a long day of working on his device or tutoring Quinn, which had become very rare as of late. He also didn't think that it would be a great place to take a classmate either…and yet, he didn't know why he just thought of that. The place was cheap, which they could afford whilst paying for the education. "Maybe next time," he heard himself say to her.

"I'll hold you to that," Quinn said as she continued to walk alongside him, the low heels of her shoes click-clacking against the pavement.

A silence passed between them. Tech wanted to continue the conversation, but what could he talk about other than classes or the project that they were working on? He didn't want to bring in schoolwork in a day that was the weekend and one that they were out to enjoy. Maybe I do need to get out more Tech thought to himself. It wasn't that he didn't have any friends, but he just enjoyed that time with his 'babies.' He was just glad no one had ever caught him talking to his technologies like that, let alone Quinn whom he knew would never let him live it down.

Down by the road, Quinn looked up when she noticed a slender figure waving his arm in the air towards them. "Is that him?" she asked as she pointed over to a single roadrunner.

Tech looked up and nodded his head. Was this guy always enthusiastic? "Yeah, that's him," Tech said as he involuntarily and lightly put his hand on Quinn's back and escorted her over to Rev.

"Huh," Quinn blinked as she went along with Tech, "you never said that he was a roadrunner. Or I may have missed that part of the conversation." She could see how enthusiastic this roadrunner was to see them and then made her feel a bit at ease. It wasn't that she had those killer instincts as her ancestors did before her, but there were just some things that took more than hundreds of years to evolve. As they both approached the roadrunner, she couldn't help but smile. "He's cute," she commented.

Rev's eyes brightened at the sight of his friend and the wolf-girl that he was with. "Hi Tech!" he greeted them when they came close to him. "Oh-its-nice-of-you-to-meet-with-us," he rapidly spoke as he grabbed Quinn's hand and gave it a shake, "Tech-hasn't-said-a-single-thing-about-you-and-ever-since-we-planned-this-outing-I've-been-dying-to-meet-you!-This-is-going-to-be-so-much-fun!"

Quinn hadn't expected for Rev to be so quick in his speech. She blinked the moment he opened his beak as she tried to keep up with his words. "Wow Tech," she said as she peered over to the coyote, "you didn't say that your friend was quite the conversationalist. I'm Quinn Wolf, nice to meet you."

"Rev-Runner," he introduced himself with a smile upon his beak. "I-was-out-here-waiting-to-see-if-Michelle-was-going-to-show-up-but-I-saw-you-guys-coming!"

"Michelle?" Quinn asked.

"She's-another-friend-of-mine-we-used-to-work-together-at-the-Quick-Wrap-Sandwich-Shack." He looked to this left and right to see if there was any sight of his fellow roadrunner but he became dismayed when he didn't see her. Rev had a feeling he knew why she didn't show up. "Well-we'll-continue-our-talk-in-there," he said as he motioned for the two canines to follow him inside.

Once he zipped inside the coffeeshop, Quinn glanced over at Tech. "It's not every day a Canis lupus and a Canis latrans have coffee with a Geococcyx velox."

"Since when have you started referring to yourself by the scientific name?" Tech asked her. "Not to mention myself."

"Well, in a way I am a scientist," Quinn said to him, "just not in the innovation and design sort of sense."

Did she know something that he didn't? Was that one of the reasons why he had been tutoring her less and less? However, Tech didn't have the opportunity to ask her any further about her education because Rev Runner had already saved them a seat and taken the pleasure in ordering them coffee.

"I-just-ordered-us-some-coffee-Tech-I-got-an-original-coffee-for-you-no-cream-or-sugar-and-Quinn-you-don't-strike-me-as-someone-who-likes-sugar-so-I-just-got-you-one-with-cream-I-hope-you-guys-don't-mind-they-only-have-two-flavors-here-which-is-weird-considering-that-its-a-coffeeshop-and-how-much-coffee-has-changed-and-experimented-with-and-how-its-mostly-art-and-aesthetic—"

"It's very nice of you Rev," Quinn kindly interrupted him as she took her seat and Tech sat to the chair next to her. "That's interesting, how did you know that I don't like sugar in my coffee?"

Rev sheepishly grinned upon that question. "When you work in the food industry for a bit, you get to read the customers."

"Become very observant," Tech jumped into the conversation before it was just Quinn and Rev that spoke for most of the time that they spent.

When the coffee arrived, Rev had ordered another cup that was placed next to him. Coffee with both cream and sugar just like Michelle would have liked it and yet…she was not here to enjoy it. Rev let out a small sigh and took a sip of the coffee.

Quinn looked at the abandoned coffee cup and over at Rev. "Why don't you call her?" she suggested. "Maybe she'll be free and have the chance to come."

I'll think about it was what Michelle had said to him when Rev asked her once again if she wanted to join him for a coffee. That 'I'll think about it' really resulted in a straightforward no considering that she wasn't with them. "No, it's not that," Rev said to Quinn. He wasn't going to tell her what Michelle had assumed. He looked over at Tech and both exchanged a knowing look.

"Oh," Quinn said with a shrug of her shoulders as she held the coffee mug in her hands, "maybe next time. But please, tell me more about yourself Rev. My tutor has kept you a secret from me," she said as she gave Tech a light nudge with her elbow.

Rev smiled as both he and the two canines delved in a deep conversation with one another. There was one thing that stood at the back of his mind. He wondered if after this, there was even going to be a next time. There was just no knowing what could happen until then but for what Rev knew was that he was extremely disappointed in Michelle.

A/N: Rev may be a little OOC here considering how happy and goodnatured he normally is, but it's an interesting side of him to explore.
