I don't own Loonatics Unleashed
Enjoy!
At Acmetropolis University, Lexi had finished all her classes for the day. A part of her wanted the day to end so she could get the tryouts over with and the other part of her didn't want for the moment to come. The more she had practiced the last couple of days, the more she thought of perfecting her routine even if it was perfect to begin with.
She placed her books in her locker and walked over to the doors of the gymnasium. The moment of truth.
"Lex!" She turned around and saw Andrea hurrying over to her. "Whoo-wee! You're faster than hot knife through butter. I literally sprinted over here." She placed a hand over her side and tried to catch her breath.
"Sorry," Lexi apologized, "I just want to get this over with already."
"I'm gonna join you," Andrea said and she noticed Lexi's look of shock, "not trying out for the team but cheering you on, girl! You need have your own personal cheerleader you know."
Lexi was grateful for her friend. "Thanks," she said to her, "I could use some positive reinforcement to get through this." Even though she had shown Andrea her routine countless of times, and even asked if some improvement was needed, she was glad that she was going to join her. There were just some things that were better done with friends than alone.
Andrea looked at the female rabbit up and down, taking in the outfit that she was wearing and the makeup that she had on. "That's what you're wearing? And ain't you got a little too much rouge on your lips there, hon?" she squinted as she looked closely at Lexi.
Lexi rolled her eyes. "What happened to the positive reinforcement that you gave me not a second ago?"
"Just lookin' out for ya," Andrea said to her. "But you and I both know you're like whiskey in a teacup."
Lexi was going to have to ask Andrea what that meant after the tryout because if they stood out here any longer, she was going to be late. When both bunnies entered inside the gym, Lexi noticed the group of girls sitting by the bleachers waiting to try out. It was going to be quite the competition, but Lexi had to focus on herself. Trying to distract her mind a little bit, she looked over at Andrea. "I didn't tell you what happened to me last week."
Gossiping was popular between them. Andrea turned her attention over to Lexi and had the look of curiosity in her eyes. "Do tell."
"I met that guy again over by the theater," Lexi said to her.
"What guy?" Andrea asked and Lexi gave her look. Confused for a mere second, Andrea's memory came back and slapped her forehead with her hand. "Oh, that guy. Well, how was our favorite cowboy Casanova doin'?"
"First of all, no," Lexi said when he noticed that shiny look in Andrea's eyes, "second, he said something to me that I didn't like. It was a total dealbreaker."
Andrea tilted her head to the side. "What did the fella say?" she asked him.
"He called me a doll," Lexi answered her.
Andrea stayed quiet for a mere second and blinked. "What in the Sam Hill is wrong with you?" Andrea then asked her. "Gettin' madder than a wet hen just because this fella complimented you? Girl I oughta kick your butt for saying that."
"I don't need this right now, Andrea," Lexi sighed as she rolled her eyes, regretting that she told her friend about this.
Andrea closed her mouth and pointed a finger to Lexi. "Alright," she said to her, "but I won't forget this and we'll talk about it later."
That was all that Lexi could ask for. She looked up at Stacy took the center of the gymnasium and showed off her one-hundred-watt smile to the girls. Quick remember the order of the routine Lexi thought to herself.
"Welcome everyone to this year's tryout Acmetropolis University Spirit Squad. As you know the competition is particularly tough this year so super good luck to you all!" she raised her poms-poms in the air and waved them with joy.
"Yawn," Andrea whispered to Lexi and pretended to let out a bored yawn.
Lexi knew that she was trying to be funny but she couldn't help and send a glare over to her. Now was not the time to act like this.
Stacy took a seat by a table where to other cheerleaders were sitting. "First up," she said as she looked at the name on the sheet, "Lexi…Bunny."
Oh no Lexi thought. She couldn't believe she was going to be the first one to try out.
"Go get 'em girl," she heard Andrea voice of encouragement as she got up from her seat and walked over to the light that was directed at her.
Don't mess up Lexi she said to herself. Don't mess up!
Lexi saw the look of unsatisfaction on Stacy's face and she wasn't surprised. What was her problem anyway? It wasn't as if Lexi had done anything to her. "Anytime you're ready."
The moment the music began, Lexi threw her hands in the air and did a handstand and walked across the mat. She launched herself in the air, flipped, and moonwalked towards the mat. Without wasting a second, she pirouetted and maintained the balance that she had been trying to perfect. She then launched herself in the air, flipped, and ended on the perfect spilt followed by a dazzling smile.
The girls by the bleachers cheered for her and Andrea jumped on her feet and let out an ear-piercing whistle.
I did it she thought to herself and tried to fill her lungs with some air. She did it and it was finally over. However, hearing those cheers for the others as well as Stacy's fellow cheerleaders, Lexi thought that she had this in the bag. She waited to see what the head cheerleader had to say about it. Please let it be something positive.
"That was such a cute routine Lexi," Stacy began as Lexi's eyes brightened at the compliment, "but I'm afraid you don't have what it takes!"
Lexi felt all her confidence leave her. She couldn't believe it. All those weeks of trying to perfect this routine that she had made up was for nothing. She turned her head when she heard someone yelling "boo!" towards Stacy on such an immature decision. At least someone thought my routine was fine.
As she was about to get up from the ground, she felt the ground beginning to shake and the ceiling of the gymnasium began to crack.
"What's going on?" one of the students yelled as the ceiling started to fall inside the gymnasium. The rest of the students and the cheerleaders fled out of the gymnasium.
Andrea quickly hurried down the bleachers and took a hold of Lexi's arm. "Let's skedaddle," she said as she held Lexi to her feet.
As Lexi was about to flee, she stopped when she noticed the doors of the gymnasium pulsating. It wasn't long before the doors tore open and a bright light made its way inside the room. She felt Andrea's grip loosen on her arm as both girls were thrown to the floor. A piece of rock clattered against the ground and against Lexi's cheek as she was thrown against the mat. Andrea fell on the floor and rolled under the bleachers. A gasp escaped Lexi's mouth when the light blinded her. She felt her body beginning to grow weak by the second and her vision becoming blurred.
Oh no she thought as she tried to muster all the strength that she could to crawl across the floors of the gymnasium. She held out her arm but she was too weak. Her body rejected every move that she tried to do until she fell into submission and felt her vision beginning to darken.
Tyler she thought of her brother as she felt her eyes starting to close. I'm coming to see you.
