I don't own Loonatics Unleashed
Enjoy!
After being released from the hospital, Ace had checked into a hotel for a couple of nights until he figured out what his next step was going to be. With each passing day, he felt his body getting better. He was grateful that he had made it out alive at least and now he could enjoy this delicious fresh carrot juice that the hotel served. It was going to be quite the bill after he checked out but the amount of money he had saved, he'd be able to handle it. The issue was that all that money would be gone and he would be back on square one.
Going back to his parents was out of the question. He had become too independent and it would be just plain weird to the bunny to go back. He'd figure something out. He always does. As he sat by one of the booths of the hotel lobby, he looked at the television as the news droned on about the meteor. The segment cut to another development as Ace watched in interest.
"Last night two men were arrested by an alley. They allegedly attacked a woman who was passing by, only for them to be glued to the wall by a strange texture that resembled tar. The two perpetrators stated that they were attacked by a…duck?...in the hours of the night. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous before. This city is getting crazier by the second."
Ace scoffed at that bit of news. That was something you didn't hear every day. Then again after that meteor impact, anything was possible. He sipped the last of his carrot juice and picked at the breakfast that was on his plate, not feeling very hungry for the moment. He noticed a large shadow suddenly overtaking over his plate. "Ya may wanna step back, doc," Ace said to the shadow, "I can't see my food." He turned around and his eyes widened when he noticed a familiar being standing right there. "Hey! Slam!" he brightened as he jumped out of his seat and looked at the Tasmanian devil. "What a surprise to see you here! How've you been, buddy?"
Every time this form of kindness was shown at him, Slam didn't know how to act. At first, he had thought that this rabbit had forgotten about him but he was glad that he hadn't. To make it all better, Ace had called him by his actual name than the stage name he was associated with. "Okay," Slam answered him and pointed to a bandage that was wrapped around his arm.
Ace looked at where he pointed. "Aw man," he said with a shake of his head, "the meteor got ya too. You and half of the population of this place. I had a meeting the shockwave as well. Knocked me right off my tail."
Slam grumbled in agreement when he said that. Even if he had been mesmerized by such beautiful fluorescent light, the shockwave that it caused had been like an earthquake where Slam was thrown against the bleachers where the spectators sat. At least his body had been sturdy to make it through the impact.
"Say," Ace spoke up, "you wouldn't happen to have that manager around would ya?"
"Mm-mmh," Slam shook his head, "he disappeared."
"Well, that's good for you," Ace said to him with a smile. "I never like that guy the moment he crashed into our conversation."
It was a win-lose situation. Slam was not dealing with such an abusive manager but he didn't have nor knew of anyone who would be interested enough to feature him in wrestling competitions. "No more wrestling," Slam said to him, a little dismayed by that fact.
Ace looked at the Tasmanian devil sympathetically and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You'll be alright buddy," the rabbit assured him. "You made it very far in the wrestling world enough for people to know who you are. You'll be goin' places very soon."
That was the most affirmations that Slam had gotten through his whole life. Other than being told that he was lazy, a monster, stupid, and a slob he was glad that someone saw him as something more. "Thanks," he said to Ace with a smile upon his lips.
"Don't mention it buddy," Ace said to him as he bought his hands over to his eyes and rubbed them. "Now if you'll excuse me, I think I need to go and lie down for a second. My eyes have been burning ever since I woke up."
This burning sensation was something that he had never experienced to this level before. Man, he was lucky that the light from the meteor hadn't blinded him unless this was one of those side effects where he was slowly going blind. He couldn't go blind now! Glasses didn't even look good on him!
"Ugh," he groaned as he leaned beside a pillar and rubbed his eyes as much as he could. The moment he removed his hands, the burning increased in his eyes until he saw a flash of red for a mere second and his eyes reverted to normal. From one of the pillars across of him, there was a hole with smoke coming out of it.
"Hey!" a hotel employee glared at Ace.
No way he thought. There is no way that came from me. He refused to believe that he had been the one to damage that. "Wasn't me!" Ace said with a shake of his head.
"That's going on your bill!" the employee shouted over to Ace before he went on his way.
Ace turned around to see Slam staring at him with a shocked look upon his eyes. "Slam," he said as he walked over to the Tasmanian devil. "Please tell me I didn't do that."
"You didn't," Slam said to him.
Ace took a deep breath and smirked at the Tasmanian devil. "Thanks for trying to make me feel better, buddy, but both you an' me know the truth." Was that why his eyes had been burning so much? "Geeze, where did all of that come from?" He let out a sigh and leaned back to the booth.
Slam wished that there was something he could say, after what he had witnessed. It was something that not even he could imagine happening. His eyes then looked over at the plate of food that Ace hadn't bothered to touch. "Hungry?" he asked as he pointed over to the plate.
"Nah," Ace said, "I had my share of carrot juice. Go ahead an'…take it." Ace watched with wide eyes as Slam tipped the plate over his mouth and all contents of the food spilled inside. Man, this guy had quite the appetite! "An' if you're still hungry, there's a buffet right there."
Slam brightened at that. "Perfect!" he said as he got up from his seat and headed over to the buffet.
When he was walking back to the booth, Ace stared at the tower of food that he had bought. How much can this guy eat? The rabbit thought as his eyes started from the plate and over to the way top of the food tower. He even managed to put a piece of olive on a toothpick, bless his soul! He watched Slam making his way towards the booth but his eyes caught something dark by his feet. A dark cord that connected to power outlet stood right in front of him. "Slam!" Ace shouted, "watch out for the—"
Too late. Slam's foot got caught by the cord and the Tasmanian devil caught himself staggered forward. His body twisted in a pirouette that suddenly formed into a tornado. The tornado then swerved from table and table knocking over people's meals, their computers, and valuables. After a couple seconds, Slam stopped spinning and wound up on the ground next to Ace's booth.
Ace looked up and saw the mess that they were faced with. However, what Slam had just did was amazing! But how was he able to form a tornado like that? One that was powerful enough to cause such mayhem! "Ehh," Ace said as he looked at the angry features of the guests staring back at them, "I think we oughta go to our rooms," he said as he picked up Slam by the arm and helped him on his feet, "don't want to make the hotel manager mad about this. Sorry folks!" Ace said to the guests and waved at them before both the bunny and the Tasmanian devil disappeared as quickly as they could.
Many of the guests were disgruntled by the mess that had been made, but one guest was intrigued by what she had just seen. First a duck that had saved her last night, a rabbit that was able to shoot lasers out of his eyes, and a Tasmanian devil who was capable enough to form a tornado. It wasn't a coincidence that she had seen those anthropomorphic animals at the hospital that day. If three of them had powers, then she was sure that they other half had some powers of their own and for a good reason. She felt she needed to group them all together for the better of this city…and the rest of the world.
