I don't own Loonatics Unleashed
Enjoy!
After paying his family a visit, Rev was happy to see that they were safe and sound. All three of them had been home for the day and weren't in the perimeter of the ticks. The moment that Rev had told both his parents of what had happened in the city and how him and his teammates were able to successfully defeat those ticks, he got the usual look of concern from his mother and the lecture from his father of how he should just inherit the family business and forget about this superhero trend. To his father, it seemed like Rev was going through a phase where everyone wanted to be a superhero one way or another. What he failed to understand though was that it was hard work, not just dressing up in an outfit and pretending to save the city. His brother, Rip, was quiet as usual and Rev wondered why his brother was being a but cold with him. He had been this way with Rev for as long as he could remember, but now he made it more visible.
After visiting his parents, he decided to pay Michelle a visit as well, who lived not too far from where his parents were. He zipped upstairs and rapidly knocked on her door.
The door swung open and Michelle blinked when she saw Rev standing there. She looked at him up and down, taking in the costume that he wore. "Don't-you-look-heroic," she said as she opened the door for him and he walked inside. "I-was-tuning-into-the-news-channel-and-saw-you-with-your-team!"
"Yep," Rev nodded his head to her, "Acmetropolis-has-its-own-personal-heroes-to-save-the-city."
"And-one-of-them-happened-to-be-you," Michelle brightly stated to him with a smile upon her beak. "How-does-it-feel-being-a-superhero?"
At least she had a different perspective of it than his parents did. Rev didn't have an immediate answer. At first, it had been great! Who wouldn't want to fight crime and protect others from it? However, what they had been faced with today had been draining and a very bitter reality. The events of today came into his mind as he took a seat on one of the couches and let his thoughts take over him.
Concerned, Michelle walked over to him. "Hey," she said as she put a hand on his back and looked at him. "What's-going-on?"
"Did-you-also-hear-on-the-news-that-someone-died?" Rev asked her. Michelle responded to him with a shake of her head and he looked up at her. "It-was-Tech's-friend."
Michelle's eyes widened. "How?" she asked him.
"The-tick-took-over-her-body-and-once-it-was-out-of-her-we-defeated-it-but-Quinn-was-already-dead-it-was-like-it-had-sucked-her-mind-dry," Rev explained to her.
No, the news had not touched upon that fact. The only thing that she had been exposed to was how brave the Loonatics were for saving the city. Nothing about casualties or injuries. A hand went over her beak when Rev told her news. It was unbelievable how something like those ticks could be potent enough to kill someone so easily. "Is-he-doing-okay?" she asked him.
She had this innocence that was both endearing and irritating. He resisted the urge to facepalm upon such a silly question. Even though he had been part of the action and was also affected by this unfortunate event, he didn't want to express it towards her. "He's-grieving," Rev said to her, "but-I'm-sure-he'll-be-okay…with-time."
Michelle gave him a single nod. "Time-can-heal," she said, "just-be-sure-to-keep-him-close.-It's-not-good-leaving-someone-alone-in-times-like-this."
That was never going to be part of Rev's plan. He was going to make sure that Tech had a friend by his side. Of course, he also considered the rest of the Loonatics but the two had created a strong bond ever since they had met. It was like having a second brother where they shared similar interests and one who hadn't grown so cold with him overtime. "What-about-you?" he then asked her, "have-you-had-any-luck-with-finding-a-job?"
"No," Michelle said with a shake of her head, "it's-been-a-bit-hard-actually.-I-don't-want-to-be-working-for-someone.-Remember-how-I-told-you-about-the-Crème-De-La-Crème-that-I-had-wanted-to-do?" she asked as he nodded his head to her. "I've-been-trying-to-design-the-layout-of-it-what-I-want-the-place-to-look-like.-Here-check-it-out!" Ever since she had left her last position, she had been keeping herself busy with designing her little business. It had been fun trying out how she wanted the place to look and what she wanted to sell.
Rev squinted as he looked at the products that she had written on the side of the paper, not understanding what half of them were. "Sounds-great!" he said to her, "but-how-are-you-going-to-get-the-money-for-all-of-this?" Last time he remembered, both were not making so much at the Quick Wrap Sandwich Shack.
Michelle shrugged her shoulders. "I-do-need-to-take-out-a-loan-to-start," she said to him, "but-I-don't-want-to."
Another mental facepalm. However, she just seemed so excited by this idea of hers that why would he want to ruin it. "I'm-sure-you'll-think-of-something," Rev said to her, "just-don't-spray-your-customers-with-a-soda-can-okay?-That's-bad-business-right-there."
Michelle chuckled at the memory. "That-duck-was-being-mean."
"About-that-haha," Rev said, "I-happen-to-work-with-that-duck-now."
Well, would you look at that. It was a small world after all. "I-hope-he's-being-nice-to-you," she said as she gave his beak a little playful tap with her finger and then got up from the couch. "Wait-right-there-I-want-you-to-try-something." She quickly headed into a kitchen and came back with a little dessert on the plate. "Try-this-I-wanna-know-how-it-is."
A visit and some sweets? Rev couldn't say 'no' to that. "What-is-it?" he asked he looked at it.
"It's-called-a-millefeuille," she answered him and couldn't help but giggle at the look of confusion on his face. "It's-layers-of-puff-pastry-and-cream," she explained to him.
"And-I-still-want-to-know-why-you-were-teaching-yourself-French," Rev joked as he went ahead and tried the dessert. It was flaky, crunch, and sweet all at the same time.
Michelle waited to hear his opinion. "Well…what-do-you-think?" she asked him.
Rev pointed at the empty plate that had nothing but a couple of flakes from the puff pastry. "I-think-you-need-to-put-this…" he was going to butcher the pronunciation and decided not to bother saying it. "I'll-call-it-mille-on-the-list."
"And-I-have-officially-found-a-taste-tester!" Michelle happily exclaimed and clapped her hands together with enthusiasm. "Oh-and-before-you-leave," she zipped out of the living room and came back with a light-colored green box that was wrapped in a bow, "for-your-teammates."
Aw! Rev thought as he took the box from her. He was curious to know what was inside but he was going to find out soon enough once he headed back to HQ. "It-was-nice-to-see-you-today," he said to her, "I'm-glad-that-none-of-those-ticks-were-around-this-area."
"Me-too," Michelle said, "after-the-whole-meteor-thing-the-last-thing-I-want-is-a-bug-infestation." She smiled to Rev and before they bid both of their goodbyes, she walked up to him and gave him a hug.
Oh! Rev though, taken off guard by her gesture but he quickly gave her a hug in return. "Look-after-yourself-okay?" he said to her, "I-will-come-back-soon-enough."
"I'll-take-your-word-on-that," Michelle smiled and waved her goodbyes when the headed out the door and down the steps faster than she could blink.
