I don't own Loonatics Unleashed

Enjoy!

Sypher's defeat had helped the Loonatics achieve back their popularity in Acmetropolis. When the citizens had found out about the man's real intentions behind his sudden superpowers, they were relieved that the Loonatics still protected their city regardless of how others thought of them. However, that was last week's news and it was time to focus on some training. In the stimulation room at HQ, Duck was training against a pair of virtual ninjas as Tech and Miranda watched him. He evaded the ninja's attacks and teleported out of the way when he noticed that they were coming near him. "In your face!" Duck shouted as he directed his weapons towards the ninjas and hit them, causing them to circuit out and disappear into thin air. "That's a new high score!"

"How times do I have to tell you?" Tech suddenly asked Duck, "what I have created here is a state-of-the-art virtual trainer, not a video game."

"Call it what you want," Duck said to him, "I'm the Master." He jumped up, twisted around in the air, and shot out at the ninjas once more. "I rule this game," he stated and blew the nozzle of the weapon.

A smirk came upon Tech's lips as he looked at Duck. "Yes, you're quite the expert," he said to him, "try this level." He pressed a button onto the hardware system and all the lights were turned off.

"Hey!" Duck yelled, "who turned out the lights?" The lights flickered back on and Duck caught a quick sight of a bunch of weapons directed towards him before the lights flickered off. Duck panicked and it wasn't too long until he was zapped by the weapons.

Now that level was more than enough that Duck could handle. He opened the exit doors of the stimulation room and Duck walked out. "I was kicking virtual tail over there."

"It seemed like the only tail that got kicked was yours," Miranda stated as she smirked at his ruffled appearance.

Duck shook the dust off him and gave Miranda a glare. "Say what you want, but you won't beat my high score."

Tech rolled his eyes at Duck's words and shook his head. There was no use in repeating himself about this. It was like talking to brick wall. His ears perked up when he heard Ace's voice coming through the speakers, telling everyone at HQ that Zadavia was on the line.

Miranda let out a sigh at that. "Great," she said as she pulled away from the wall and followed Tech and Duck out of the room and gathered with the others at the round table. She wondered why she had to show up at these debriefs when she was suspended. However, if she wanted to keep her spot on this team then she was going to have to show up regardless of being suspended or not.

Once all the Loonatics were seated at the round table, Zadavia's hologram appeared in front of them. "Loonatics, there's been an escape from the subterranean maximum-security prison. The file is being uploaded to you as we speak."

The Loonatics leaned over and looked at the screen that stood in front of them. The file uploaded and showed a picture of a slim short woman with a very big head. "She's got a big head," Slam commented at the team when he saw the image.

"You said it," Ace said.

Tech blinked a couple of time when he saw the picture of the woman. He couldn't believe it. "Mallory…oh no," he stated her name and felt a slight pang of nostalgia coming towards him.

"I want you all to get down there," Zadavia said, "Tech can fill you on the way in. Zadavia out." Her hologram disappeared and the team didn't waste a moment but got ready for the mission.

Before he took his leave, Ace skidded to a halt and watched Miranda sitting at the chair, unsure of what to do. Well, if he had heard Zadavia correctly she had said that she wanted all of them to get there. "Miranda, don't sit there with your hands in your feathers, come on!" he motioned for her to follow them. He would find a way to talk to Zadavia about this because he knew that she would find out sooner or later.

Upon his request, Miranda was thankful that Ace gave her the prerogative to join them. The rest of the team gathered inside the Loonaporter and headed out of HQ. Duck was glad that Miranda was joining them on the mission and he smiled when she took her seat next to him.

As the heroes headed over to the subterranean maximum-security prison, Ace turned his attention over to Tech. "So Tech, you wanna tell us how you know Ms. Melon Head?"

"Right before Zadavia put us all together, I was still a grad student at Acme Tech," Tech said, "Mallory was a young prodigy I was tutoring right before Quinn." He couldn't believe that a whole year had passed since her death and here he was, facing the one student that wanted her revenge on him. "She was working on a device that could amplify brainwaves. I discovered that she had modified the device to transfer knowledge from other people's brains into her own. The university staff were going to be her guinea pigs. So, I stopped her and her evil head before it was too late and I had to do something before their minds were destroyed. Unfortunately, she was hit by a surge of fiery electrical neuron feedback getting that big head. She was arrested afterwards and that's the last I had heard of her…until now."

It wasn't long before the Loonatics arrived at the subterranean maximum-security prison. "Come on guys," Ace said to his team, "we picked up some suspicious electrical activity in this area."

"Mallory would have a field day with equipment like this," Tech commented as they approached the prison grounds.

The Loonatics checked around the perimeter. Lexi kept her ears on alert as she tried to hear of any noise that would come their way. Nothing. Strange how eerie the area was without any noise around.

"Me thinks this place is empty," Duck commented as his eyes bounced from one place to the next.

Spoke too soon Lexi thought. "Chill Duck," she said to him, "me thinks I hear someone thinking louder than any of us. We're not alone."

Tech had hoped that this wouldn't happen. If Mallory had been a genius back at Acme Tech, he didn't want to imagine how she was not that she had escaped. "That's gotta be her," Tech uneasily said.

"Give that dog a bone!" a female voice said as all the Loonatics turned their attention over to the source of the voice. "It's nice to see you again, Tech."

Miranda let out a low whistle at the sight of Mallory. Her head looked bigger in reality than it did in the file that Zadavia sent them.

"I wish I could say the same," Tech spoke up as he looked at his former classmate.

"Some genius," Duck spoke up, "you get an A for the escape but a D for the getaway sister."

However, Mallory was unfazed by what Duck had said to her. She had a different plan up her sleeve but if it also helped her get away, then she would have twice the success. "This isn't about getting away," Mallory said to him, "this is about revenge. Isn't it Tech?"

A noise was heard from the perimeter as armored vehicles suddenly came to life. The Loonatics watched in shock as the vehicles approached them and pointed their weapons towards the group.

"Eliminate those animals," Mallory said to the vehicles and they blasted their weapons towards the group.

The Loonatics jumped out of the way before they were hit. Mallory went after Tech and the rest of the group were being chased by the vehicles.

Rev was glad that he was able to have his powers again, otherwise he knew he wouldn't be able to escape. He jumped on the vehicle, waited as it turned the weapons on Rev, and he quickly jumped out of the way when the vehicle attacked itself.

Miranda ran as quickly as she could from the vehicle that chased her. She scrunched her eyes as she noticed a large gap between the space where she ran and another, hoping that she would make it. She knelt to the ground and found herself airborne and noticed the vehicle had flown after her. She turned her eyes towards the machine and levitated it. Jumping onto the vehicle, she sprung herself back to where she was and her eyes turned back to its original color. It wasn't long before she heard the vehicle crashing into the ground.

Ace and Lexi worked together as they bought down a vehicle that chased them. Lexi stunned it by sending her brain blast in its direction and Ace came towards the vehicle like a wrecking ball.

Slam and Duck has escaped from one of their attackers, but it was designed to climb buildings. Once the contraption made its way to the Loonatics, Duck threw his power orbs towards the weapon and Slam cycled around it, making the contraption fall onto the one where Mallory was standing as she chased after Tech. The smoke cleared and Mallory was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is Big Head?" Slam asked.

"She's skulking around somewhere," Tech said, "but I've got something at HQ that will give her a headache…wherever she is."

The Loonatics hopped onto the Loonaporter and headed back at HQ. As they approached their home, Ace found it odd that the lights had been left on…yet he didn't have such a good feeling behind it. The computer screen of the Loonaporter turned on as Mallory's face showed up. "I'm in complete control at your headquarters now, Tech. It's my turn to play with one of your inventions and is this going to be fun!"

From HQ, Mallory released a pair of drones towards the Loonaporter and they fired at the Loonatics. The Loonaporter shook and it caused the engine to fail from the attack. Ace tried his hardest to move the Loonaporter upwards but to no avail. "I can't hold it!" he yelled at his team. "Everyone hang on, we're going down!"

"We're doomed!" Duck yelled as he wrapped his arms around Miranda and held tightly onto her, "doomed!"

Lexi held onto the gears of the Loonaporter, in hopes that she could help Ace, but with Duck freaking out was not helping the situation. "Okay," she said to Duck as calmly as she could, "now is not the time to panic."

"What?" Duck yelled at her, "now is exactly the time to panic!"

"I agree Lexi," Miranda said to the rabbit next to her, "but not as much as I agree with Duck this time!" her eyes widened as she noticed how close they were getting towards the buildings.

At the other side of the Loonaporter, Tech quickly typed away on his keyboard and a parachute was released from behind the Loonaporter but it wasn't enough to stop it from hitting the pavement. Tech adjusted the brakes on the vehicle as it began to slide down the street and stop in front of HQ.

Ace was glad that they had finally arrived at HQ. He headed out of the Loonaporter and put in the code to enter. The first time he tried it, it wouldn't let him in. The second time, he got the same result. He knew that he was putting in the right code, but he had a feeling that someone had tampered with it. "That hideous head case locked us out of HQ."

"Fighting your opponent from within its own stronghold," Tech said, "genius."

"Genius or not, she really has it out for you Tech," Miranda said, "I've never seen someone hold a grudge that long."

"You'd be surprised," Tech said to her, "Mallory has always been ambitious and would never let anything get in her way. She always got what she wanted…even if it meant hurting others." Like a true villain would.

Since the team was not able to get inside through the doors, why not get in from the underground? Slam looked a spot on the ground and rapidly spun towards the spot as he created a chasm that was large enough to the Loonatics to jump through. He chewed his way through the underground as the team reached the inside of HQ.

"Good thinkin' Slam," Ace praised the Tasmanian devil as they reached inside.

Rev sped over to a locked door and unlocked it with a code. At least it was one of the codes that Mallory had not tampered with. From within, a case the held an abundance of devices that Tech had made were displayed there waiting to be used.

"Okay enough head games," Duck said as he and the rest of the Loonatics grabbed onto the devices, "time to go old school." And set a new high score.

Once the Loonatics got a hold of their weapons, a small chip that had been implanted onto them shimmered and a set of wires snaked out of the weapons and wrapped themselves onto the Loonatics' wrists.

"She's booby-trapped them!" Tech yelled as he saw his teammates getting trapped by his inventions. "My inventions," he said, "what has that ghastly woman done to my babies?"

Duck's weapon began to fire on the team as he was pushed back towards the wall. "I'm not doing it!" he yelled as directed the weapon to another location.

Miranda gasped as she jumped out of the way as quickly as possible. "Point that thing somewhere else!" she yelled at him only to find her weapon shooting out nets in different directions that was out of her control.

"I can't control it!" Duck yelled as the weapon continued to fire in random places.

If they couldn't use these weapons, then the only weapon that they had were their powers. Once Ace got to a secure location in the room, he pointed his laser beams on his weapon and melted the wires from his wrists. Slam slammed his hands towards the wall and freed himself from the weapons. Rev fired his weapon and ran towards the shot, getting in front of it just it time for the bullet to hit the weapon and release him. Lexi jumped in the air and slammed her device against a pipe, which was sturdy enough to break her free. Miranda set her eyes onto her weapon and felt herself floating in the air along with it. As Duck's weapon was getting out of control, one of the lasers hit the device and her wrists were freed. Finally, Duck teleported out of the weapon's grasp and teleported back to the team.

Once the chaos was over, Tech looked at his devices and shook his head. All that hard work and his devices were used for malevolent reasons. "I should have seen this coming," Tech sighed, "I feel like such a pea brain."

"You're no pea brain, Tech," Ace said to him and then looked over at the screen where Mallory's image came on, "but it's time to take your Balloon Head girlfriend down."

"I heard that," Mallory said to him.

If she had heard it or not, Tech mentally flinched at the term 'girlfriend' being used regarding Mallory. She was not the type that he pictured being with him even before she turned into a villain. He tore his eyes away from the screen and motioned for his team to follow him. We can get out of sight from the cameras," Tech said as he led his team inside the doorway and they followed him. "There's an elevator shaft behind this generator."

Walking their way past the generator, Tech pressed onto a button that was on the door and it opened. Just as they were about the enter inside, a steel door blocked their entrance. The alarm went off in the room and the generator increased in size.

"Hey gang!" Lexi called to the team, "Miss Big Brain set us up for a big bang."

Slam spun towards the steel door in hopes to get through. Once his body contacted it, he was sent flying back and was surprised that he wasn't strong enough to even put a dent in it.

Ace watched as the Tasmanian devil slid towards them and then he turned his attention to Tech who was busy typing away on the keyboard. "Okay Tech," he said, "time to put your wits to work."

"I'm hacking into the security portal," Tech said as he tried to type as quickly as he could, "but its gonna take some time."

Duck approached Tech and then looked up at the generator. "Well could you pretend to hurry! One more minute and you're looking at crispy fried duck!"

Miranda reached over and pulled Duck away from Tech. "I think we should have you away from that generator and leave the coyote to work."

Even after that little intervention, Tech kept his mind focused on the keyboard. "I almost got it," he said.

"Almost doesn't count dog-face," Mallory's voice came into the room as the Loonatics were caught by surprise, aside from Tech who continued to focus on hacking through the portal.

Ace gasped when he noticed the ground beginning to quake beneath their feet. That could only mean one thing. "Take cover!" he commanded his team as they jumped out of the way before they were blasted by the explosion.

When the smoke cleared, the Loonatics held onto a rope and beneath them was Tech who caught the worst of the explosion.

"Could you cut it any closer Tech?" Ace asked him.

"Actually, no," Tech said as he shook his head and regenerated himself.

"Then we'd better get out of here before she figures out we're here," Ace said as he looked around the room to see where they could go.

"Through the vent," Tech pointed to one of the open vents by the wall, "she can't monitor us in there."

Slam swung the rope towards the vent and everyone crawled inside. It was a decent size to fit all of them, yet cozy enough.

"We've got to get to my E.M.P," Tech said to the team.

"What exactly is an E.M.P.?" Miranda asked him.

"It's an electromagnetic pulse generator," Tech explained to her, "now if we can get to it and activate it would temporarily knock out all electric current in the vicinity. Without power she's, well, powerless."

Even Ace knew he wouldn't have been able to figure out just as quickly as Tech did. Now that they had a plan in mind, there was no moment to lose. "Lexi, take Slam, Rev, and Miranda with you and follow this all the way up so you can activate the E.M.P. Duck, you come with Tech and me and we'll enter from the virtual trainer. She won't know what hit her."

"So where do we find the E.M.P and how do we activate it?" Lexi then asked Tech before she and her group were ready to take their leave.

"It's hidden right in plain sight," Tech said to her, "and it comes with simple instructions."

With those words being said, the groups took off in different directions. Slam, Lexi, Rev, and Miranda crawled through the vent and landed inside the lounge room. It felt good to finally be out of that cramped space. Lexi looked around the room and thought if she was an E.M.P., where would she be likely hiding?

"Try looking under the pool table," Slam suggested when he noticed how deep in thought Lexi was.

"Chalk one up for Tech," Lexi said, "the E.M.P. device is likely hiding there."

As the group made their ways towards the pool table, they halted in their tracks when a vacuum cleaner sprung up at them. It began to release dust towards the Loonatics as they ran away from the machine. Unbelievable, getting chased by home appliances. Lexi was able to get out of the way as she saw the rest of her team getting attacked by the appliances. Rev was chased by the vacuum, Miranda was running away from an old-fashioned looking toaster, which made Lexi wonder who had even collected that, and Slam was attacked by a couple of shuriken throwers coming out of a small box. Lexi dodged a set of blades as the whirred towards her.

"I'm-all-for-cleaning-the-house-but-this-is-ridiculous!" Rev yelled as he tried to outrun the vacuum which proved to be the same speed as he was.

Lexi pounced on a table and looked over at Rev. "Lead that big sucker this way," she said to him.

"Oh-if-you-had-told-me-when-I-woke-up-this-morning-that-I-was-going-to-be-bait-for-a-runaway-vacuum-cleaner-I-would-have-said-you-were-just-plain-nuts!" Rev continued as he directed the vacuum over to where Lexi was.

Lexi caught sight of the blades and she jumped it and gave it a kick towards the mouth of the vacuum. The bales flew towards the vacuum and blocked it mouth, causing the device to short circuit.

Miranda slid next to Slam as the toaster hobbled towards her. "Think you can grab some of those shurikens?" she asked him.

Slam didn't know by how many he had been hit with. At least his arm was able to withstand the small blades. "No," he answered her with a shake of his head, fearing that if he was going to remove his arm, he was going to get sliced in the face.

"I got it," Miranda said as she levitated the box from the table and moved it so that the shurikens were flicked towards the toaster. Some of the shurikens bounced off the device but when one of them got inside, the toast short-circuited and didn't move. "Yes!" Miranda said.

The box that she had been levitating fell on the floor and Slam gave it a massive punch, destroying the device into tiny pieces.

Once the devices were destroyed, Lexi and Rev were able to get to the pool table. Lexi reached inside and pulled out the a device to read that instructions which were not as simple as Tech had stated. "Simple my lucky foot," she said.

"I got this," Rev said as he began to explain the series of steps that activated the E.M.P. device.

Seeing that both Lexi and Rev had this already sorted out, Miranda and Slam were on the lookout for any other manipulated devices that could jump out at them. "Taking forever," Slam complained as he looked at Lexi and Rev who were running around the pool table.

Miranda looked over and she wondered how Lexi was able to understand what Rev was saying. That road runner was just as smart as the coyote was, so it was no surprise that they were best friends. "With Rev's speed, it seems like they're almost there," she said.

"Press-the-big-red-button!" Rev finally finished as Lexi pressed the red button on the hardware that appeared from the pool table.

Once she did that, top of the pool table opened and the E.M.P. device floated in front of them. "That's it," Lexi smirked, "game over." The team took off from the lounge area once the E.M.P got brighter and started to rapidly twist.

The effects of the E.M.P. released the pulse throughout HQ, causing anything electronic to stop working. In turn, this stopped the stimulation room where Ace and Duck were trapped in fighting against those virtual ninjas and Tech was released from a robot that had apprehended him. The moment he was released, he apprehended Mallory and sent her off the jail in hopes that he would never see her again.

After Mallory's arrest, the team felt that they had a very long day. After Zadavia debriefed them on Mallory's condition in jail and the amount of time that she would be serving, the Loonatics decided that it was time to have a moment to themselves. They agreed to head to the stimulation room and place the setting to a relaxing day at the beach. Rev had agreed to cycle for as long as he could, just so they could enjoy some of that beach feeling. The rest of the Loonatics were lounging on their beach chairs, while Duck was lying on a floating chair in the water, and Miranda was attempting to make a sandcastle.

"Oh yeah," Duck said, "this is exactly what the doctor ordered after such a tough assignment." He couldn't remember when the last time was since he'd been to the beach. He was willing to take advantage of this moment because he knew there wasn't going to be another one anytime soon.

"Yeah," Lexi happily breathed out as she enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her lounge chair, "chilling is good."

"Amazing," Ace said.

"What?" Lexi asked him, "the beach? The sun?"

"No," Ace shook his head, "Duck being right about something."

Tech took a deep breath and let it out. He felt that he needed something like this after, well, such a long time. Keeping himself locked up in his dorm with endless papers and experiments, in the laboratory with endless devices, and facing off someone from his past; he wondered how he hadn't lost his mind yet. "There's something nice about feeling the sand between your toes," he commented.

Just then, Duck fell on the ground when the water beneath him disappeared. Ace looked over to the cycling machine and saw an exhausted Rev trying to catch his breath. "Yo Rev!" he said to him, "what's the deal?"

"Sorry," Rev began, "just-taking-a-little-breather-okay-done." He straightened up and began to cycle as quickly as he could bringing back the relaxing panorama. "You-know-I-don't-mind-helping-out-with-this-whole-vacation-thing-but-okay-I-sorta-do-mind-I-mean-when-will-the-power-come-back-on-Tech?-You-said-the-E.M.P-effect-will-wear-off-on-its-own-in-six-to-twelve-hours-I-think-its-been-about-eight-hours-but-I've-lost-count-I-should-start-counting-again-one-two-three-four-five-six—"

"Just keep peddling!" the team said to Rev, as the roadrunner shut his beak and continued to cycle and mentally prayed that the effects from the E.M.P. would be fixed soon. There was only so much that he could do without overexerting himself but one thing that kept him going, was the fact at seeing his friends happy.
