I don't own Loonatics Unleashed

Enjoy!

Rev noticed that Tech had been uneasy during the past couple of nights. During the meetings that the team had, he was attentive but after the meetings, he would lock himself back in that laboratory of his and not come out for hours. There had been days where Rev would have to leave his dinner by the doorsteps to where he would find the food untouched. Tech didn't mind being in solitude, but the roadrunner couldn't help but feel worried for his friend. He wondered whether it was due to this cloaked figure that they hadn't discovered yet. There was only so much that Tech was able to do on his end that Rev believed he shouldn't be too hard on himself for not having caught to culprit at the right time.

After the meeting that the team had with Ace, after he had been debriefed by Zadavia, Rev was sitting in the lounge room with Slam and Duck, who were enjoying a rerun of a wrestling match. These matches were old back to Slam's days as a competitive wrestler that even Rev was impressed at seeing that techniques that Slam had before he was a superhero. Only his strength had gotten more powerful than it used to be. "Wow!" Rev jumped when he saw Slam picking up his opponent and hurling him only a couple of feet away into the ring, "it's-only-ten-feet-imagine-how-much-furthure-you'll-throw-him-with-the-strenght-you-have-now!"

Even though Slam had a tough time as wrestler, being in the wrestling ring were the highlights of that profession. "No champion," Slam forlornly said. The years that he had put into his training, he had hoped that he would have won the champion belt. He didn't know whether it was due to his manager's unprofessionalism or the fact that he just wasn't good enough.

"Awh," Rev said as he put a hand on the Tasmanian devil's arm, "don't-beat-yourself-up-because-of-that.-You're-a-champion-in-our-eyes-and-all-of-Acmetropolis."

Those words made him smile. Even though a championship belt was only an object, it held a lot of meaning to Slam. It was something that he had worked hard to earn and wanted to finish it all the way to the end.

"Pfft," Duck scoffed at Rev's words. Typical Rev being the positive one when, all Slam needed was someone to help him with that. "Come on," he suddenly spoke up, "what he needs is a manager."

Slam winced at that word. After his experiences with his manager and the abuse that he went through, he to leave him. Now that Duck said that he looked over to him and wondered what type of manager he was talking about…and he hoped that it was a decent one at that.

"I'm-sure-that-Slam-knows-that," Rev said, "he-had-to-have-been-working-with-one-during-his-wrestler-days."

"Yeah but how good was that manager?" Duck asked him.

A low grumble escaped from Slam's mouth. "Not good," he answered him.

"See?" Duck pointed out, "don't worry Slam, if you're ever thinking about going back to the wrestling ring, I'll be your manager."

Slam had not expected such an offer coming from Duck. It wasn't as if he had even asked anyone to be his manager, but typical Duck had to implement himself into the situation like he always did.

"We'll split the amount, ninety-ten, I'll take care of your trainings, who you'll be fighting. You'll be a champion in no time!" Duck exclaimed as if this was going to happen first thing tomorrow.

As intriguing as that sounded, Slam was going to have to dream about that championship belt because he knew that considering that job that he was in, he was never going to have anytime to train, let alone wrestle again.

Rev remained quiet as he heard the conversation between them. He had to admit that Duck was correct about Slam being a champion. If he had started something, wasn't it better to finish it? But also, weren't some things better left in the past? "You-do-what-you-think-is-best-for-you-Slam," Rev added inside.

"Sure," Duck jumped in, "but also think about the money."

Money was the last thing in Slam's mind. It was the title of champion that mattered to him the most.

Tech wished that he was able to hang out with his teammates for the remainder of the day. Just like Ace, he had been obsessing over the security footage from Club in Toons. He had attempted to rotate the footage in every angle, trying to get a facial recognition but he wasn't able to pick up anything from it. He was not one to give up but he had reached the point where he was able to throw everything off the table and just wish for an answer to fall out of the sky.

"Almost-done?" a voice said behind him, breaking him out of his thoughts.

Tech lowered his head into his arms and slowly raised his eyes. "Not even close," he answered Rev as he turned around in his chair and looked at the roadrunner. "I've looked at the footage over and over and nothing."

"Did-you-try…" he was about to ask when Tech nodded his head, "well-how-about…what-about…-isn't-there…-is-there-anything-you-didn't-do?" Rev then asked.

Tech rolled his eyes up to the ceiling, thinking if he had missed something but he only shook his head in response. "There's only so much anyone can do with this footage," Tech said as he pulled himself away from the desk and over to the table. "I even checked this device to see if there were any memory chips on it but that was the only one."

Rev tilted his head as he looked over at the scarab-looking device. "I-thought-you-got-rid-of-it," he said to Tech.

"I destroyed it," Tech said, "so nothing will be able to revive it. I will throw it away once we finally find out who the cloaked figure is."

Only Duck and Tech have had the first exposure to this device. Duck had given them as many answers from what he could remember, and Rev knew that Tech had tried everything on his end. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to give it a second look. Rev grabbed the device from the table and began to survey it in all directions.

Tech folded his arms across his chest and rose an eyebrow at the roadrunner. "What are you doing?" he asked him.

"Just-trying-to-assist-you," Rev answered him.

Tech let out a sigh. "I don't need any assisting. I can figure it out on my own."

Yeah-sure Rev thought as he gave Tech a knowing look. The coyote was a genius but even he had his moments when he would forget a crucial detail and would backfire on him. He caught Tech's slight glare before he turned his eyes back to the device. There were no slots visible on the device where another memory chip would be nestled. He ran his thumb in all directions of the device until he felt a small bump underneath his thumb. "And-what-do-we-have-here?" he said as he looked at the place where his thumb had felt something.

Tech perked up when Rev said that. "What is it?" he asked him.

"So-now-you-need-my-help?" Rev playfully said to the coyote.

"I'm not kidding Rev," Tech said to him, "if you found something, you need to tell me."

Rev zipped over to the desk and ran a black marker over the bump that he had felt. He ignored Tech's protests as he bought the device closer to his eyes. He squinted to the point where his vision got blurry and pulled the device away and handed it over to Tech. "I-can't-see-it."

"See what?" Tech asked him, "you'd better not have messed up with this."

What was to mess up? Didn't Tech just say that he had destroyed the device. "There-are-words-written-on-there," Rev pointed to the device, "see-what-they-say-maybe-it's-a-clue-to-this-cloaked-figure."

Tech held the device close to his eyes and he was able to spot a couple of letters that Rev was able to bring out from the marker. He bought up an eyepiece towards his eye and held it towards the device. He moved the eyepiece back and forth until he was able to make out the words:

Acme Tech Enterprises

"What-does-it-say?" Rev asked him.

Tech didn't answer right away. He ran the name of the company over his mind. It didn't sound familiar unless it was a startup and they were only selling their items to customers. "Rev-find-me-what-you-can-on-Acme-Tech-Enterprises."

"On-it!" Rev nodded his head as she zipped towards the computer and quickly typed in the company. "Let's-see-here-started-in-2773-and-they-specialize-in-technologies-that-help-their-consumers-relive-the-good-times-of-their-lives."

Tech made a face at that. So there continued to be people who wanted to live more in their past than in their present. "Nothing about manipulating the mind of others?" Tech asked him.

Rev's eyes scanned through the screen. "Blah-blah-blah-nope-nothing," he answered him. "But-that-device-had-to-be-made-by-them-I-mean-that's-what's-written-on-it."

"I'm not doubting it," Tech said to Rev. "I guess we must pay this place a visit. Can you check who works there that we can get a hold of? In the meantime, I need to let Ace know about this."

Rev turned around in his chair as he clicked around the website. A number of people appeared on the page that consisted from the top of the chain to the bottom. However, a certain picture and name caught Rev's eyes. "Uh…Tech?" he said as he looked over at the coyote, "you-may-want-to-see-this."

Tech gently placed the device onto the table as approached the screen. He looked over at the picture where the cursor was hovering and his eyes widened. "Oh no…" he said as he looked at the name:

Amber Wolf.
