Here's chapter 9 everyone, once again huge shout out for Pyrojack aiding me in writing this chapter as well as proofreading. We had such a blast making it, hope you all like this one too, so with that said sit back and ejoy.
Destiny's bar comes into view and we see Destiny itself sitting in a lounge chair now seen wearing a pixie cut black haired wig wearing a red robe and some glasses sighing in content. "Nothing like a good time of relaxation of peace."
*Meow*
"No, I'm not reading anything erotic!" Destiny replied back to Mitty at what he said.
*Meow*
Destiny waved off the cat. "Pah, says what you know." It then noticed the audience/readers. "Ah, there you are, was wondering when you'd show." Destiny closes the book and tosses it aside the sounds of glass wear breaking. "I got say, lots of interesting things have been happening lately." With a snap of fingers, we see a few clips of what transpired last time. A Once such example included Donner zapping Loretta with a simple tap of his claws.
"A big, heated argument between siblings over a very serious anniversary. Both sides refusing to listen to one another."
We then cut to see a clip of Stu and Loretta at the cemetery. "But somehow and with the help and encouragement of others close to them, the whole thing washed over."
The recap was over as Desting is now sitting on the barstool next to the old tv. "Risks. The possibility of something bad happening. It involves uncertainty about the effects/implications of an activity with respect to something that has value. Such as health, well-being, wealth, property or the environment, often focusing on negative, undesirable consequences. Tell me how often you all take risks into consideration? Hmm?" Mitty comes into view jumping onto of the old tv.
"Even in the littlest things we do can have consequences and at the same time not taking a risk doesn't help at all. So, why do we do it? For the rewards that can pay off? For something better? Something more valuable? Just what drives us to do it? Well, I can't give you answer, that's something you'll all have to think for yourselves. However, I can show you an example, from Donner and Octavia's perspective."
We focus onto the old tv as it zooms into the screen showing the title.
Helluva Servant Episode/Chapter 9
Risky Magic?
As of right now we see Donner walking right beside Octavia in one of the many halls. "Ok, moment of truth." The bodyguard said the one he was assigned to protect as well as his crush.
"I don't think this is going to work." The female owl demon said with uncertainty.
"Hey in the long run, learning as much magic as you can, will help you out. I mean, they expect you to know at least something."
"Yeah, that's because I'm supposed to since I'm 'the heir' to the Goieta name, but that's all it is. Plus, I don't even know if dad can get the Grimoire back from 'you know who'." She air quoted the last bit referring to Blitzo.
"Oh, come on Octavia, don't you think you're overacting."
"Donner..." She gave him a blank face. "You aren't listening to me. I've tried numerous times in the past. I don't think it's gonna happen."
"Not with that mind set it won't. Plus look at it this way, if you take the initiative, it might get Lady Stella off your back for a little while."
"That's...true." Octavia hummed without thinking of that before. Aside from the all proper lessons she'd be given most of her life to act like a proper noble, this pursuit of magical knowledge might be the break she was looking for. As she was pacing her thoughts, they arrived at the dining room, where already, her parents were seated.
"Ok, shake a tail feather and break a leg." Donner whispered while bowing and proceeded to walk over to his spot fulfilling his role of bodyguard, and like most servants they'd have to watch their employer's/masters eat.
'Really Donner? Shake a tail feather and break a leg?' Octavia asked herself sitting down. 'That was the best words of motivation you could give?'
"Ah, Octavia, so glad you could finally join us." Stella addressed her daughter. "And usually, it'd take much longer."
"Mmm? Oh yeah, well after a long day I'm just famished." Octavia kept up her composure playing along.
"Well, in that case you'd be delighted to know that there's plenty to go around, so by all means eat." Stolas encouraged eating their meal, which was Italian food. Normally, they'd have more fancier food, but today was one of those where they'd get a break from it.
From where she was sitting, and eating, Octavia saw Donner giving her light hand motions. This was a sign to tell her to pop the question out.
"Uhh, hey, uhh, Dad?" The prince's daughter asked awkwardly.
Stolas turned to her. "Yes Via?"
"Do you... Maybe... Want to help me with your book?" She asked with a little uncertainty. From his spot Donner facepalmed at himself muttering something under his breath. That came out the wrong way. "What?" Stolas didn't catch what she was saying, hell Donner was mouthing 'grimoire' to his master's daughter doing his best not to get caught earning a look of confusion from one of the imp servants.
"Don't you have anything else better to do?" He whispered to that imp.
"The, Uhh, the Grimoire! Do you still have it?" The girl clarified. "Oh!" Stolas's eyes widened upon hearing that. "Uh, yes, I do. Why do you ask?" He questioned nervously as Stella glanced over to her daughter curious to know where she was going at with this. Right now, it was the moment of truth.
"I was wondering...if...it'd be possible to have a lesson on it." Donner gave her a thumbs up but quickly retracted it so he wouldn't get caught and kept up his composure not noticing Merida saw that.
"A lesson?" The owl demon quirked a brow. His daughter nodded her head, to which he beamed a bright smile on his beak. "Oh, yes certainly. When?" He asked, hiding her nervousness.
"Maybe tomorrow?"
"Oh...tomorrow..." He repeated the last word. "Tomorrow..."
"That shouldn't be a problem at all. Shouldn't it be Stolas?" Stella chimed in, putting him in the spotlight. "Oh, umm, No, of course not. Tomorrow is fine." The poor man shook his head, glaring briefly at his 'adoring' wife.
"But, um...However, I will be busy tomorrow. I'll be having a meeting with some of the other nobles. So, Bruns would have to take my place sadly."
Octavia frowned upon hearing this. Not exactly what she was hoping for. "You sure?" The female owl demon wanted to spend some time with her father.
"Yes, I'm sorry dear, but this has been coming up for some time. Besides, you get along fine with Bruns. He has much knowledge himself, you can learn a lot from him."
Stella scoffed at this. "I don't see why him, there's plenty of others who'd be suitable for tutoring Octavia."
"Because I trust him." Stolas replied back. "That's why."
"Trust him to go snooping around like a common thief." The avian scoffed.
"He's not a thief. He just enjoys gossip." Stolas defended his friend before shrugging. "A bit too much I admit for his own good at times. It's practically his equivalent to drinking blood if he did. "
"No kidding." Octavia chimed in, because it was the truth. Often at times she'd imagine seeing him, always on social media platforms.
Donner snorted at the fact, but kept to himself all the same.
"Well regardless, I am pleased to see that Octavia is wanting to take some of her free time to learn something beneficial." Stella said in a proud tone. "Very good."
"Thanks." She nodded. Donner gave her two quick thumbs up showing that the plan had gone exactly as they plotted it.
We now change scenes into Donner's room where he's reading while eating a grilled cheese as Octavia is pacing back and forth. "Well, that went better than I thought. Not to mention hardly any screams."
"But not precisely though." Octavia countered back.
"I mean the whole point was so I could spend time with my dad, and it backfired into this."
"Yeah but look on the bright side. It's been a while since you've seen Bruns." The thunderbird pointed out. "I say it's a good opportunity to hear from him and his family, if you're lucky."
This was true leaving Octavia to pause thinking for a brief minute. "I don't think I've ever seen his wife, what's she like?"
"Well, first off, not a gossip lover like her husband. She's really nice. Also, FYI, the moment you see something that stands out, just ignore it."
The princess looks to her bodyguard oddly at the statement. "What do you mean?"
"Eh, it's best that you see it for yourself." Donner replied back, finishing off his grilled cheese. "Where'd you even get that sandwich?"
"I made it."
"How?"
"Watch this." Donner takes two slices of bread and multiple slices of cheese slapping them together and spreads out his hands conducting electricity and in the center of it the sandwich is cooked steaming to perfection. "Voila. I might not be able to cook in the kitchen, but I can still do that little trick." He commented with a grin taking a bite. "Oh! Shit! Hot cheese!"
"No matter how many times you do that, you always find a way to surprise me." Octavia looks to him in awe for what he made.
"I try." Donner shrugged with a mouthful. "Want one?"
"I'm good."
"More for me then." Donner continued to eat.
The next day we see Donner sitting across from Octavia in the limousine. On their way to Penumbra Castle. She was currently doing a crossword puzzle while Donner was playing angry birds Star Wars on his phone.
"Hmmm...five lettered word...strips in a club..." She was trying to figure out the question.
"It's bacon." Donner answered.
The owl demon nods her head, writing the answer down. "Ok, here's another one, six letters, a group of crows."
"Murder." Donner answered the second one with ease.
Octavia hummed, writing that question down curious to test his knowledge. "Four letter word, Trilbies."
"That's easy, feet." She wrote it down again. "Tip of a shoelace?"
"Aglet."
"I could've guessed that." She smirked cheekily.
"Oh yeah?" Donner looked at her. "Give me another one then."
She decided to humor him. "Pandora's domain. 13 letters."
"Easy, Internet Radio."
"Are you sure you're not cheating? Or able to read minds?"
"Now say if I did, would I be humoring you right now and getting the answers, right?"
"Verosika Mayday's first album?"
"I think it was Vaycay to BoneTown." Donner shrugged his shoulders.
"Close, but no." She answered. "It was Ride Me 6 Ways." She wrote it down.
"Eh, I never cared for her music much." Donner waved her off before looking out the window. "Oh, right on, we're here."
Octavia looked out the window and saw that they were driving up to an extremely large gothic looking European castle. "Whoa...This place is..."
"Edgy?" Donner pipped in trying to guess.
"I was gonna say that it looks cool, but yeah that too." She said, captivated by the exterior. The driver proceeded to let her out of the car allowing Donner to exit out and motioned for Octavia to come out. "This is actually pretty cool."
"Ah, hello." A familiar voice questioned making them turn to the door, but no one was there. "Whoopies, my bad. Up here." They both look up to see Bruns hanging upside down from the ledge above the entrance. "Nice to see you both." He dropped down and landed with grace.
"So, how have you been?" He questioned with wiggling his eyebrows earning a confused look from the teen avian demons.
"Oh, you know what, never mind." He waved them off. "So, do you have that fancy book of his?"
Octavia held out her family's grimoire. "Yeah, I was actually surprised when dad had this on him."
"Knowing your father, when circumstances are in place, he makes good on his promises." The bat demon nodded, approvingly.
"He does at times." Donner agreed. "So, what's new?"
"Ah, you know just sniffing and listening for anything that comes my way." He sighs in content. "But alas, nothing has come."
"Thank Lucifer for that." The green bird mumbled to himself.
"So, any who's you feel ready for this little owl?"
"Yeah, I do." Octavia nodded back and so Bruns motioned them inside. "Come along."
Inside they entered in a very lax and luxurious decor. It had all sorts of neatly crafted wooden staircases and furniture all around including a crystal chandelier and many other paintings hanging on the walls. "Nice place..." Octavia nodded, liking the way everything looked. "Very nice..."
"Thank you." Bruns chuckled as they entered further into the gothic themed castle that her best friend's daughter was loving. "This house has been in my families' name for about eight hundred years. Sure, it's not as old as your home, but eh, is what it is."
They stopped upon seeing a weird looking black and white striped doll with Xs for eyes. It was inside of a cabinet. "What is that?"
"Just an heirloom from my late great grandmother."
"Yeah, that thing is just weird." Donner commented before the doll turned to him.
"Good! Because I think you're a weird ya, big, toothed asshole!" The doll snapped back rather rudely.
This spooked Octavia who backed up a little. "Well now we know why you're in there." Donner commented, flipping off the doll which flipped him off back? He couldn't tell because it had no fingers.
"It can talk?!" Octavia looked at the living toy, surprised.
Donner turned to Octavia giving her the 'really look' considering where they lived.
"Give me a break, it's been a while for me." She shrugged.
"Oh, my goodness!" A female voice cried out. "That cannot be Octavia now can it!?"
Octavia turned to the sound of the voice but when she did, the female owl paused, noticing something rather large jiggle. She stepped back for a moment taking in what she saw. This had to be what Donner was talking about earlier. Standing before them was a well-endowed female bat demon much like Bruns only the color of her fur was dark brown, she had two gold rings on each side of her ears. Her clothing consisted of a light blueish robe that not only had a noticeable large belly sticking out, but assets as well. Upon seeing this, Octavia nervously replied. "Uh...yes?"
The female bat happily laughed before enveloping her into a hug. The poor girl didn't know what to do, beyond an awkward pat on the back. The owl feels a little envious. 'This has to be what Donner was talking about earlier...' Octavia said to herself, managing to breathe.
Meanwhile Bruns' wife Ferne glanced over to her husband. "Darling, you didn't tell me she was coming, along with Donner no less." She said giving the male avian teen a gentle smile that he returned with a wave holding back a bit of laughter seeing Octavia was still in her 'hug'.
"I didn't expect them to either, so I figured it would be a surprise." Bruns replied back with a chuckle. "Also, Ferne, I believe you've had the poor girl in a hug long enough."
"Aww, but I wanna keep her!" Ferne whined. "She looks so adorable all grown up."
"Lady, Ferne..." Donner continued holding back his laughter. "I understand that, but your husband would be right."
"Donner~." She moaned, sighing in defeat she relents. "You're free to go, my dear."
Octavia stepped back now breathing heavily regaining control. "It only seems just not so long ago; you were but a youngling."
"You know me?" The female owl questioned, raising an eyebrow. "I've never met you up till now."
Ferne nodded her head happily. "Indeed, I have, I've known you since you hatched, the same as Donner."
"Really?" The girl inquired to which the pregnant demon smiled happily.
"You were both so darn cute when you were younger." She sighs. "Seeing you both together after so long makes me so happy."
"Oh...well...I don't know what to say..." Octavia said, rubbing the back of her head, blushing a bit. She wasn't so used to having this much affection from other demons, Brun's wife really did have a kind vibe surrounding her.
"So, what brings them both here to our home today, Bruns?" Ferne inquired, turning to her husband.
"Well, Octavia here," The patriarch of the estate nodded to the princess. "Came here at the request of her father to help educate her on The Grimoire and its magic."
"Ah, I see. We know a bit about your family's grimoire, so you can count on us to help."
"Now, Ferne, you shouldn't push yourself."
Brun's wife waved him off. "Hush now dear, I'm alright. Speaking of which, they're both staying over tonight." Hearing this sudden declaration took both Donner and Octavia off guard.
"Um, darling, I made an agreement with Stolas saying she'd be home by the end of the day."
"That's fine, just make up an excuse. They're both staying over tonight and joining us for dinner."
"Ferne, they can't stay."
She closed her eyes, still smiling. "They're staying."
"No, they-"
"They're staying." She said in a much firmer tone cutting off Bruns in a way showing she wasn't gonna take a no for an answer still smiling.
The older man rubs the bridge of his nose, calming his nerves. "Stolas is going to have a heart attack over this." Bruns grumbled under his breath, before looking back to his beloved. "Alright, have it your way. But know that I'm not going to be the one that has to explain all of this."
"Oh, I would be delighted too." Ferne gains a smirk. "Especially to that feather harlot, for not letting me see Stolas's little star fire."
Suddenly the sound of wing flapping was heard. Everyone looked up to see two demon bat children wielding large swords. Seeing this, Ferne laughed while Brun's on the other hand wasn't. "Hey!" He pointed up. "I told you two to quit toying around with my weapons!"
The two kids ignored him and both charged giggling away having a good time as Octavia watched this transpire with interest. "And I told you two little monsters to study! Lesslie, Morgana, back to your rooms!"
"Awww! But mom!" Both batlings exclaimed.
"If you don't do it, we'll sick Donner on you." Bruns quickly spoke up and this frightened the two, speeding off much to his amusement. "NO!" They both screamed out in fear.
Seeing this, confused Octavia as she glanced over to Donner. "Those two label me as 'the bad guy'. Which I'm fine with." He shrugged before gaining a smirk. "I enjoy it too."
"What do you do with them exactly?" She asked her companion.
"Eh, nothing too serious. Just mess around, a little. Sometimes Lord Bruns and Lady Ferne make sure they're not goofing off when they aren't supposed to."
"And he does a good job at it too." Ferne said with approval.
"Not to worry, Octavia." Bruns smiled warmly. "They are well mannered; however, they sometimes need a little reminder. Donner makes sure of it."
"It's true." Donner confirmed. "Any who's, Lady Ferne, how's the soon to be new addition coming along?"
"Almost there." The female bat demon said, rubbing her stomach. "One more month."
"Nice, can't wait to meet them." The thunderbird flashed a toothy grin.
"So." Ferne clapped her hands excitedly. "Shall we get started?"
We now see them in a large wide-open room that was filled with scorch marks as well as numerous dents. "What is this place?" Octavia questioned looking around. "It looks like something went rampant in here."
"That's because this is the training area." Bruns answered. "Specifically made and designed to help young demons such as yourself to learn what they're capable of. "Donner has used this room a numerous number of times."
The thunderbird massaged his neck a bit. Still remembering how many aches and pains he's got from it.
"Now, what specifically do you have in mind to learn Via?" Bruns inquired. "You obviously wanted to know something."
"Yes... Umm, maybe something simple, like a disguise." Octavia thought about it.
"I remember Donner having a human form."
"Should be pretty easy to learn." In a flash of light and electricity, he shifted into his human form. Exactly like the last time the girl witnessed this and then reverted back to normal just as quickly. "So long as you have an understanding of what you picture yourself as.
"Ok..." She grabbed the grimoire and examined its contents before tossing it over to her bodyguard who caught it with ease. "Ok..." Taking a deep breath the female owl became enveloped in light, when it died down, the two other demons winced a bit.
"What?" Octavia looked at the pair, puzzled. "Did it work?"
"Um...It did..." Bruns started.
"Well, how do I look?" She looked down at her hands.
Donner nervously with a smile brings out a mirror. "Ok, Octavia...Please don't freak out..."
She looks up to her bodyguard, nervously. "Why would I freak out?" Soon he passed the princess the hand mirror and, to put it bluntly, her first attempt made her look like she ran the 100-yard dash in a 90 yard gym. "Oh fuck!" She recoiled, touching her face because, while the rest of her body was fine, her head, on the other hand, was freakin bigger and rounder, with chubby cheeks as well. "You gotta be kidding me!"
"Well..." Donner cringed. "It's a start. But we might be able to iron out some things."
"No shit..." Octavia replied bluntly, pissed off with the result. "What do I gotta do to turn myself back out of this?"
"The same way you pictured the glamour." Bruns told her.
"Define glamor, because...this ain't glamour!" The female owl demon replied back motioning to her face.
"Just think about how you looked before you used the disguise." The bat demon clarified. "I seem to make it a habit of calling disguises Glamour."
"Which I was confused with at first too." Donner commented, returning his attention back to Octavia. "Ok, just repeat what you did a few moments ago. But relax, and empty your thoughts."
"Right, right." The pink eyed demon breathed. Calming herself with each breath, muttering what Donner told her to do. It took a moment, before a flash of light appeared, reverting Octavia back to her normal state.
"That...was...terrible..." She commented, shivering a bit.
"Relax, it took me a while to get my disguise right too." Donner placed a supportive hand on her shoulder. Then it hit him. "I might actually have a way that could help." The green bird pulled out his phone, showing various human faces to the princess. "This might help you paint a better picture."
"Oh..." Octavia blinked glancing at the many that were available. "That's handy..."
"Just take a moment and have a look, before trying again." The bodyguard let go of his charge and gave her some space. He gave her a thumbs up. "Alright, Octavia. Once more." Bruns instructed. "Remember what you were feeling earlier but visualize it."
She nodded, inhaling and exhaling each breath. Remembering certain features and details from earlier before finally focusing on it. Octavia closed her eyes as the flash appeared once more. Hopefully, it isn't as grotesque as the first attempt.
Octavia noticed Donner's reaction as he had a face that pretty had a hard time processing what he was seeing. "Oh crap...what now!?"
"Um...it's the opposite now." Bruns replied back.
"What do you mean?" Her answer came in the form of a full body mirror, courtesy of Bruns' magic. Her eyes practically bulged out of her eyes. "Sweet Lucifer!" She covered her body that was now extremely skinny in the middle. "I look one of those fucking models that starve themselves to look hot!"
"Be thankful it's not as bad as before." Donner pointed out.
"Are you kidding me Donner!? This is equally just as bad!" Octavia lashed out at her bodyguard who held out his hands trying to defend himself.
Bruns sighs, before snapping his fingers, pulling Octavia back to the center of the room. "Okay, what do you think went wrong? And please don't get lippy with me." The bat demon asked, sternly.
"I-I don't know." Octavia replied as she focused once again reverting back to normal.
"Well, from my understanding, you put too much focus on your facial structure. Neglecting the rest of your body, which caused that malnourished form." Bruns told the girl, calmly. "If you wish for your disguise to work, you must focus on more than just one part of your body. Unless you wish to walk amongst a population as you are currently."
"Octavia come on, you almost had it right the first few times." Donner chimed in. "Just listen to what Bruns is saying and balance it out." The girl groaned as she made another attempt at her transformation. "Don't be like that, sometimes third times a charm." Donner said, trying to be encouraging.
Octavia coated her body in light, and soon enough not only did her appearance change, but so did her clothes. When she did take on a human form, she was wearing a red choker, with shirt matching in color, and underneath the shirt a long sleeved black and white shirt topped off with black shorts. Seeing this Donner felt his cheeks warm up blushing madly.
"Did it work?" Octavia asked irritably, before noticing her bodyguard's blushing face. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Donner flinched a bit smacking his cheeks, and this didn't go unnoticed by Bruns who was giving him a cheeky smirk. "Uh, no reason...But, hey it worked this time!" Donner motioned Bruns to make the mirror appear again and she saw her reflection.
The pink eyed princess gasped at her appearance. She looks over herself, seeing every part of her body has changed perfectly. Pale smooth skin all around, looking down she noticed a pair of black boots with three buckles studded on each foot, replacing her talons. Her long feathers now a beautiful set of black hair. Besides her eyes, she looks just like any other goth girl passing through the human world.
"Wow...I didn't know this is what I'd look like as a human..."
"I'll say..." Donner muttered underneath his breath that didn't go unnoticed by Bruns raising an eyebrow.
"So, how'd I do Bruns?" Octavia inquired.
"So far not too bad." The bat demon nodded approvingly. "Now try moving around as you are currently. It'll help you have a better understanding once you get the hang of it. Donner will help you in his glamour as well. Wouldn't you?" He winked at his protege.
Donner raised his eyebrow at this. "For the last freakin time, it's just a disguise. And yeah, I'll try."
"Yes, my apologies." Bruns rubs his head sheepishly. "Alright, now let's begin some other lessons, shall we?"
que montage
First we see Bruns holding out an apple, he proceeds to place it onto a platter and motions to a silver tray obviously showing Octavia what she had to do. She carefully picks the fruit up and goes to have a bite out of it. The male avian demon glanced up at her frowning in annoyance while she gave off a sheepish smile.
The second we see the pair looking around like a human. Up, down, left, right, the whole nine yards. Just then they cringed at the sound of an air horn, held by Bruns. Octavia turns her head around to look at the bat demon, looking like a victim of a broken neck. Donner exchanged a look with Bruns shaking their heads no, agreeing that this one they'd had to work on.
We now see Bruns snapping both fingers and just like that he disappeared before reappearing behind Octavia. This was an invisibility spell. With a gesture he urged her to give it a try, but when she did, both of them quickly turned their heads away. Naturally she was confused, but then Ferne came in holding a tray of snacks and laughed at her. She looked down and blushed realizing what had just happened.
Next up we see Octavia getting instructed by Bruns charging up an energy attack that she threw forward. But much to Donner's misfortune as he exited out of the bathroom his eyes went wide as dinner plates as he got hit by the blast. Both Octavia and Bruns winced as Donner fell face flat onto the floor before he shakily held up a hand giving a thumbs up signaling, he was ok.
The next one they went with is opening portals. Octavia carefully did as instructed. Making a certain hand gesture as a wave of energy flows through her palm, a purple portal opened in front of the princess, but it was blank. Bruns nodded, letting her know to open another one. She did but neglected to focus on a particular spot. Opening another portal below her.
Realizing too late, the heiress falls through and comes out of the original portal flat on her back with a thunk. Octavia tries it again, but only this time she ends up crashing down onto Donner again, right onto his neck and well...other than that she was very close in a certain manner making both teens blush as he pushed her off.
The next we see Octavia, reluctantly being forced to wear clothes in her human form. The first was a white shirt with red shoulders that left her stomach exposed along with a skirt decorated in black skulls. She also had white leggings wearing black boots. Lastly, she was wearing a red ribbon instead of her beanie and tiara.
While it's an interesting choice, admittedly. Octavia felt the red was a little much. Even the two men in the room agreed and so she tried something else.
She was now wearing a long-sleeved black shirt that covered her shoulders and neck, not to mention an exposed black tank top, with a dark purple skirt with black leggings and high heels matching in color still keeping her beanie tiara combo.
Octavia twirled around for a bit for a better emphasis. Donner, curled a brow before nodding at the style. Bruns is a little mixed with it but not bothered.
Donner then gained an idea that confused Bruns for a moment as he watched him walk up to Octavia showing something on his phone. She leaned forward to see what it was, and pointed at it, getting a nod in response. The female owl shrugged her shoulders before changing her clothes again.
Octavia this time wasn't wearing her beanie, instead she was wearing a white one-piece dress that had a small black heart on the middle of it, exposing her arms, and legs also only wearing white strappy sandals.
The princess looked down bashfully. She wasn't used to brighter fact Octavia actually loved the look while Donner's reaction was a simple thumbs up and a smile not to mention a light hinge on his cheeks. She smiled back, shyly. Bruns couldn't help but grin at the scene before him. He now had exactly what he needed to confirm his suspicions. Oh how fun this was going to be for him~
After a long day of training, we now see Donner at the table sitting with Octavia, Bruns, & Ferne eating dinner. "That actually went well." Donner commented as he dug into his dinner which was a triple burger loaded with all sorts of goods.
"I'd like to think so." Bruns smiled, eating a handful of grapes next to his plate.
"I'd beg to differ." Octavia chimed in and was just given her meal. "It's been a long time since I've practiced magic in general."
"At least you didn't blow yourself up." Donner pointed out. "Oh wait, you did kind of blow me up." He chuckled a bit.
"I said I was sorry." Octavia jabbed back. "Not my fault."
"But at the end of the day, you did great, sweety." Ferne said, chowing down on what appeared to be a very large sloppy joe only she was using a fork and a knife.
The pink eyed demon showed a small smile at the matriarch as she ate her own burger, nothing big or extravagant. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it." Ferne replied happily before turning to her kids that were prepping for something. "What are you two doing?"
"Comparing each other's burger and who can eat it the fastest." Morgana answered. "And I keep saying it, I'm faster." Lesslie chimed in.
"Well don't do that, one of you will choke for peeps sake." She sighed, shaking her head before being served another burger that was a lot larger than everyone else's. "I swear, you both take years off of me."
"Well, at least it was better than Donner's first attempts." Bruns spoke up. "I can't recall how many times I was electrocuted."
"How was I supposed to know that would happen?" Donner held his hand up, defensively. "I didn't know my abilities were linked with my magic."
"I bet." Octavia chuckled before turning to Ferne who could've sworn there was a burger right in front of her just mere moments ago. At first confused, she shook it off and brought up a very interesting question. "So, Ferne, how did you and Bruns meet in the first place?"
"Oh, geez." Bruns looks down, knowing how she'll describe it recalling her tale. "I was actually the head of records here at his family's estate and still am."
"Hmm?" Octavia was a bit surprised to hear that. "So, you're not from some other noble family?"
"Nope." Ferne shook her head as another dish was presented to her. "I was born dirt poor, but luckily I was very smart and worked my way up to this castle."
"That she did." Bruns muttered.
"Anyway, me and everyone else working under me was just minding our own business, doing our routine work as usual. Then everyone grows quiet, and our lord comes up to check on us. I merely thought he was curious, but then he started coming around the day after that..." She turned to her husband with an amused smirk. "And the day after that."
"He did always have a talent for sticking his nose in places where they usually don't belong." Donner commented, getting a giggle from Octavia.
"I know that, took him a few weeks before courting me properly." Ferne said before her husband chimed in.
"Two weeks at most." Bruns held up two fingers while she smirked. "It was a whole month." His wife clarified.
"Oh, you're lying!" Bruns said in his defense as Octavia absolutely found this to be funny. "She's lying!"
"Whatever you say, my dear." The pregnant demon smiled amusingly.
Bruns returned the smile back. "Infact, she may be acting so koi now, but by the end of it, she was the very same breathtaking beauty that captured my every so love gossiping heart the moment we met."
"Ooof!" Ferne said before grabbing his cheeks and smashed her lips onto his, earning a few gags from their kids before they separated.
"Hey now, don't start dissing on them." Donner chuckled. "Someday you two will find a special someone in your lives."
Octavia giggled at this enjoying the family loving atmosphere as it was much more pleasant than at home. She hadn't felt like this in a long while. "Well, I think you both make a happy match."
"I'd like to think so." Bruns commented. "I wish you were at the wedding. You remember that Donner?"
"How can I not?" Donner asked, rhetorically. "I remember Ferne slapping you with some of the cake when you made a rip on Stella's dress that one time." Donner chuckled at that memory. "Yeah, that party was something else. Good times."
"I'll say." The bat demon laughed lightly.
"So, Donner. From what my husband tells me you've been taking the role of Octavia's bodyguard quite well. How's that been working out for you?"
"It was a little touch and go." The thunderbird admitted. "When Lord Stolas gave me this assignment, I wasn't sure I'd manage. Octavia wasn't happy about it either."
"It's true." The female owl admitted glancing over to him. "But luckily, he didn't turn out so bad."
"Hey, I had to try." Donner shrugged.
"Lucifer knows you did. You'd probably hover over me like a hawk if I didn't want you around." She jabbed at her protector.
"Yeah, I would've had to." He shrugged in response.
"See what I mean?" She told the family. "Dad appointed me a buck toothed stalker."
"What the heck is it with everyone calling me buck toothed for?" Donner questioned holding up his arms groaning a bit. "Give me a break already."
Everyone in the room laughed at the thunderbird's misfortune. "Well, I'm pleased to see that it's working just fine." Ferne said happily. "But I do believe I'm famished." With a quick clap one of the imp maids came up to her. "Prepare the springs, we'll be using it shortly."
"Of course, my lady." The maid nodded.
"Springs?" Octavia questioned in confusion glancing over to Donner. "What springs?"
"Hot springs." He answered, finishing up his dinner.
We now see Octavia enter inside of a room filled with steam holding a towel wrapped around her frame, it was a very large space and in the middle of it was where the steam was coming from, a large pool of water. While many in hell are fortunate to create artificial springs, this is one of a select few natural springs in this very Circle.
"Wow...This is really cool." Octavia muttered as she walked forward to it. "I've only read about these in books and on the internet."
"Ah, Octavia there you are, come in." Ferne called out but when the female owl turned, she flinched slightly, noticing her large assets were afloat covered by the steam somehow.
"Umm, yeah. Hold on." The princess told the pregnant woman, averting her gaze she would begin to dip her talon into the warm waters. She shivered in delight enjoying the feeling before losing her towel and sat down next to Ferne sighing in content sinking down. "Wow...this is...fantastic..."
"I told you that you'd like it." The older woman smiled. "After a long day, I always come here to unwind. My happy place."
"I can see why." The owl demon gazes up to the night sky above. "You definitely have a nice view over here."
"Eh, I'm not really so focused on that, but yes, it is nice." Ferne agreed. "So, what's been new lately?"
"Nothing really much." Octavia shrugged her shoulders. "The new year's been ok, and well other things too. Could be better, but I'm not really complaining."
"How was that Hellsmas party?" The female bat demon inquired. "I was going to go, but figured it would be best to avoid the stress for the coming little one."
The princess nodded in understanding. "Probably for the best. Honestly, I felt like a primadonna in that dress mum picked out for me."
"Ah, yes her..." Ferne commented with a small hint of venom. "Still her usual self-loving self."
"You might say that." The girl frowned.
"Tell me, how have things been at home lately?" Ferne questioned. "She's still hitting Donner, isn't she?"
Octavia could only frown some more. "Why does she do that to him?"
"I don't know. I obviously do not know." Ferne replied firmly, shaking her head. "She never did like him; much less was very stern of not wanting him living in your home. Yet somehow your father despite her protests made sure that he did have a home. I first became acquainted with Donner when he first started coming here to train under my husband. Sometimes, I could instantly, that she hurt him. I'd know the difference between Bruns, he does what he does, because Donner needed it, to tame his bloodlust. But the first time I seen the bruises; I nearly lost it."
"What's the whole situation about him anyways?" Octavia glanced over to Ferne with curiosity. "I mean, he doesn't even know why dad took him in. He doesn't question it."
"I'm afraid that's not my role to reveal." The female pregnant bat demon admitted with a hint of regret. "The agreement was made specifically between my husband and your father to tell him the truth when he's old enough and has full control over his abilities."
"What do you mean?" The pink eyed owl asked, recalling the previous statement she made about Donner not long ago.
"Octavia, what is the most common knowledge of what it means to live and survive here in Hell itself?"
"Mainly, it's power. That's what I've been told." Octavia remembered some of her lessons.
"That is true, power, lots of it. Lucifer is a prime example of that. We demons have existed since the beginning of time, squaring off against the forces of heaven till the truce was made. But as time goes by, so do we forget our roots and where we originated from."
"And what does that do with Donner?"
"I'm sorry dear, but I can't go further into details." Ferne said with a smile before flinching a bit. "Why not?" She questioned, feeling a little impatient with everyone avoiding her questions.
"It's just how it is. I'm in no position to, if you truly want answers then confront Stolas yourself." Ferne sighed as she proceeded to rub her stomach. "Settle down, little one."
Octavia sighs, calming down for a moment. "Sorry."
"No, it's alright, you're only concerned for Donner. Ironic too, he's supposed to keep you safe and the one to be protected is worried."
"Well...he's...my friend... I don't have very many at all. So that's why I guess..." Octavia admitted sheepishly.
"A friend?" Ferne raised a deceitfully curious brow.
"Yes." Octavia replied back. The pregnant woman couldn't help but giggle. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, I just, well...find it hard to believe..." The female bat demon replied sheepishly. "I mean, you both act completely different when it's just the two of you. Donner was raised to respect nobles, even though he doesn't really care. And you on the other hand...Well...do the complete opposite most kids your age would do."
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Octavia turns to look at Ferne curiously. "You treat him as an equal and with respect. To the point where you fully trust him."
"Well... Yeah, would you rather I dunk his head in the springs or something?" The girl asked rhetorically.
"No, nothing like that at all." Ferne replied. "For a brief moment, I thought something else more secret was going on." She said with a smile leaning back.
"Secretive?" Octavia questioned. "What are you talking about, Ferne?"
"Oh, you know..." The pregnant bat placed a hand over her mouth smiling mischievously in a way that could rival her husband's own signature smile. "Romantically~"
If the teenage goth's face wasn't already red in the spring before, it just got much redder through her feathers. "What!? No! There's nothing going on between us. Even if there was, I wouldn't want to bring any more problems back home as there already is."
Octavia sighed as she sunk into the water a bit more while Ferne put a claw on her shoulder. "I already deal with enough; my parents are just the surface...I don't want to add any more problems...Much less have Donner get in trouble as a result."
"Well, that's not your fault...What's happening between those two is their business. You shouldn't have to be dragged right into the middle of it."
"And yet it feels like I am." The goth girl frowned. "Every time I want to do something, Mum's either destroying the palace or Dad's off fucking some random imp. The worst they can do is argue like I'm not even there."
"Despite their differences, they do love you deep down...even Stella..." Ferne frowned a bit admitting it with a much more venom in her voice.
"It just doesn't always feel like it." Octavia looked down at herself, sadly. "I know." Ferne sadly replied, continuing to talk to her.
"Plus, I already found out the whole reason why they're together in the first place..."
The pregnant woman frowned. Knowing exactly what the owl demon might be saying. She brought her forward into a hug. Not as strong or as smothering as earlier, but gentle and comforting as she could to the lanky avian. "Even so...don't let that keep you down. You're here now, and this is your life, she may have brought you into the world with other intentions, but your life is yours and yours alone."
"You don't think I keep telling myself that? I do."
"I believe you. But know that we're more than welcome to help you whenever you feel alone. You and Donner are like my children to me and I'll be damned if anything happens to either of you." The older woman told the teenager, softly.
"I appreciate it..." Ferne let Octavia out of her hug. "But you know, that's not the only thing bothering me. I'm at the age where I'm expected to find a suitor, and I'm gonna be honest with you. Deep down, I don't want that, I'm supposed to continue my family's bloodline. Then what? A repeat of what I'm going through?"
"It doesn't have to be like that." The bat demon told her. "The world is changing; even certain traditions have been changed to suit the times. People fear something as silly as status, they neglect the wants and needs of their own. That's something you don't have to follow. It's always been your decision. Octavia. Not your father's, not your mother's, yours's." Ferne paused for a moment letting it all sink in before she continued sharing her words of wisdom.
"Plus, you have a solid idea on what not to do. Someday, if you're lucky enough you'll have a little one or two. One valuable lesson growing up is recognizing the mistakes that were made to be better. That alone is valuable knowledge. But for right now, just focus on the now, motherhood can wait when the time is right. In fact you'd make a good one."
"Would I?" Octavia looked to the pregnant woman, unconvinced by the last bit.
"Absolutely. I do. Take it from me, you're talking to a mother. After all, we have our instincts. You'll get yours soon enough."
The girl looks to the mother curiously, mainly at her growing belly. "Can I?"
"Go on ahead." Ferne replied as Octavia gently placed a hand onto there. When she did, the female owl felt the presence of another life. She felt the heartbeat of it.
"What's it going to be?" She asked, smiling at the presence shifting in her gentle palm.
"Don't know." Ferne answered. "I always preferred to be surprised. Because no matter what, I'm going to love this child with every fiber of my being."
The owl teen removed her hand from the woman's stomach. "I hope I get to see it someday."
"You will, soon." Ferne smiled before noticing Octavia giving her a stare. "What is it?"
"Ok, I have to ask...What size are you?" The female bat blinked hearing that answer referring to her chest. "Oh...I'm...a G."
"A G?!" Octavia cawed. "No way!"
"Yeah...Why are you s-" Ferne gained a mischievous smirk. "Aha...That's why you've been acting weird. You feel inferior. Come on Octavia, don't be like that."
"Oh c'mon! You've got boobs the size of watermelons. Hell, my mum has some and I'm about as flat as a pancake. That's some bullshit!" The envious owl demon whined.
"Relax, they'll come. Besides, you have a very decent body for someone your age. I'd wager someone finds you breathtaking." Ferne said with a light laugh.
"I seriously doubt it." She pouted.
"Sweety, like the old saying. The outside means little, it's the soul on the inside that counts. Depending on who you're talking to." Ferne commented. "Plus, don't be so sure, the one I'm talking about might be closer than you think."
The girl looks at the pregnant bat with skepticism. Not exactly buying into her sage wisdom. Mostly with this special guy she's referring to. "Who?"
Ferne merely giggled in response. "That's for me to know and for you to find out."
"Well gee thanks for the hint." Octavia said sarcastically before she turned to see Ferne giving her a look wiggling her hands. "Wait, what are you...Oh no...No, don't you dare!" She exclaimed, covering her chest and backing away.
...v...o...v...
On the other side of the other side of the hot springs we see Donner sighing as he sat in the water. Despite there being a wall, the sounds were only being muffled. "Just ignore it...and pretend it's not there..." He told himself.
"They sound like they're enjoying themselves." Bruns commented a couple of feet away from him.
"I know, but I wish they could keep it down."
"Hey, watch the feathers!" He could hear Octavia yelp.
Donner blushed for a moment before recomposing himself. "Bruns why couldn't you make the wall soundproof? You know what, never mind, you creepy bastard."
"Hey now, just because I love gossip. Doesn't mean I can't respect my wife's privacy." The older man leaned back with his hands behind his head. A confident smile on his face.
"Really? Because I figured you and her would take advantage of that."
"Oh we have." Bruns confirmed with no shame, smiling. "And it was a blast."
"TMI." Donner didn't want to hear any more of it.
"Hey! Watch your fingers!" Octavia cried out.
"Wow, you're actually pretty smooth." They heard Ferne comment.
"Stop it, you're tickling me!"
"What, like this~?"
"Whoa! Don't touch me there!"
Donner groaned as he sunk himself into the water to try and ignore the noises. "Oh, come on, Donner, don't be such a wuss." The bat told his protege. He merely got multiple air bubbles from the water in response where you could faintly hear. 'Shut up'.
Bruns then gained a grin knowing this'd probably be a good time to have some fun teasing him with what he knows. "So~, I see you've been getting along well with Octavia, hmm~?"
Donner resurfaced his head. "Where are you getting at this?"
"Oh nothing." The bat demon feigned ignorance. "It just seems to me that you helping her with the disguise wasn't part of some 'secret agenda'." He teased.
"What was wrong with the dress? I thought it was nice, and it helped her seem less noticeable." Donner shared his thoughts. "What would've you had done then?"
"Well, if it were up to me and if it's my wife. I'd sweep her off her feet and give her a big ol' kiss!" Bruns' grin was now very shit eating, and he raised his brows a few times, knowing what he would do.
"Well good for you then." Donner replied dryly, rolling his eyes.
"Oh c'mon, Donner! I know you wanna do something like that someday." He nudged the boy with his elbow. "After all she is a very pretty girl, even in her glamour. And don't you correct me on that one." The bat raised an index at the last sentence.
Donner merely growled in annoyance at that response. "Where are you getting at with this?"
"Oho, I hit a nerve score for me." Bruns chuckled before continuing on.
"Bruns, if you keep bringing up Octavia like that-"
"In what way?"
"You know damn well what way!" Bruns laughed at the glaring thunderbird.
"Hmm? Then what?" The bat questioned the boy. "Do clarify, on this ever so touchy subject we are getting on right now."
"The fact that I might be having feelings for-" Immediately, Donner slapped his hands under and over his beak. Shutting himself up, screaming in his throat at Bruns ever so amusing face. Donner then shrunk into the water of the hot springs.
"Aha~" Bruns crept over to Donner where he sank. "I was right, although half the time it was a joke, but after seeing you and her on the roof that night made me think differently."
The green bird glares at his teacher, daring him to say another word. "And yes, I saw you too, heard everything." Bruns confirmed. "I know Stolas was into it, but never pegged you for the type." He was referring to the music of that night.
The teen jumps up out of the water to tackle the bat demon. But before he could Bruns flew up making Donner plant his face into the water laughing at his misfortune. "I swear, I get more joy doing this at times almost as good as gossiping."
"Will you shut up and get back down here, you asshole!" Donner hollered. He grunted in frustration as flew up towards Bruns with an agitated expression. "Alright, you caught me red handed, are you happy? What else do you want? Maybe, you can at least mind your own business and let me talk to her my way." The boy squawked. He then calmed down as he descended back into the water. "Not like I'd ever be able to anyways."
"Hmm?" Bruns went back down into the water as well. "What?"
"Bruns, I'm not supposed to be like this...You know that."
"To what, be like any other kid falling in love?" Bruns inquired. "I understand why you mustn't do that. Especially with a certain tramp hovering over you. But things have changed.
"Changed?" Donner glanced over to Bruns in confusion. "Changed how exactly? I'm not following you."
"While many of the hierarchy remain in their old ways. Many have started to break away from that." The older man stated. "It's a slow and tedious process, but Hell's changing. I once heard stories of a queen and her relationship with her chef, the court kept it an open secret.
"What?" Donner blinked, being sure he heard this being sure he wasn't pulling his talon.
"It's true, I once was invited to her event and I heard the court in their homeland talking about it. It genuinely reminds me of your dilemma." The bat demon told the boy.
"Yeah, but Bruns, her family, the Goeita, they wouldn't stand for it, not to mention...Lord Paimon."
"Paimon is hardly around his children to give a damn." He pointed out. "Plus it's just a matter of time before Little Miss Fussy Britches gets the boot. Lord knows that would be a long time coming. But you should know Stolas as well as I do, he'd understand."
Despite hearing this Donner was still unsure. But he wasn't wrong, Paimon was pretty much an asshole. He remembered meeting him for the first time. He pretty much treated him the way Stella does, but he didn't seem to give much of a damn. Either he was too snobby, or all the above. He only briefly remembered what Stolas told him about his father.
And Bruns is right about one thing. After the affair, it's just a matter of time before the prince kicks Stella out the door. And when that happens, he'd be throwing a party. But until then there's nothing he can do. At least, that's what Donner believed.
"Even if I was going to, who's to say she'd return those feelings?" Donner questioned as he stepped out of the waters going into the changing room putting on a robe as Bruns entered using his magic to make a robe wrap around him.
Bruns sighs at this, understanding how it was for him. "Back when I was seeing Ferne, I wasn't sure what I wanted from her. She is the most beautiful woman I've ever met, and we've dated a couple times. But I wasn't sure if she'd like it more than I do."
Donner looked to his mentor, curiously. "What did you do?"
"At first I just kept up my composure as I was taught, but after a while and getting used to her, I just acted like myself. I've had my doubts, but in the end, I took the risk and went with it." The thunderbird looked at the man in thought. Processing every word, he's telling him. "If you really want this to work out with Octavia. Don't be afraid to ask. Otherwise, you'll miss your chance, and you won't see her again. It's hard to have something this special down here."
Bruns then gained a smirk. "And I know what can help."
"Oh no..." Donner had an unsettling feeling.
"Oh, yes." He nodded. "C'mon, I wanna show you something." Bruns walks back into the building to get dressed.
We now shift to the living room of the castle where they were talking.
"We're sharing a room?" Octavia questioned wearing a set of pj's that Ferne had loaned her.
"Yep, that's correct." Bruns confirmed. "Unfortunately, some of the rooms are going through renovations right now."
Ferne gave her husband a suspicious look but decided to keep it to herself for the time being.
"Um..." Octavia turned over to Donner. "Is...that fine with you?"
"Yeah, you can have the guest bed. I've slept on floors a bunch of times before." Donner said with a shrug. "It doesn't bother me."
"Excellent!" Bruns clapped his hands together. "Now, if you'll excuse us. Me and Ferne have much to talk about." He placed a loving arm on his wife's shoulder. "I'm sure Donner can show you the way." He winked at the thunderbird.
Octavia raised an eyebrow glancing over to Donner who shrugged his shoulders in response. "Come on, let's go. Your mom isn't pleased enough with it. She'd blow a gasket finding this out. Have a little bit of peace until tomorrow."
"No arguments there." Octavia commented as she followed him. "Today actually was kind of nice." As they walked out the two bat demons were left to themselves.
"Bruns," Ferne said.
"Yes," Asked Bruns
"You do realize you're asking for trouble for putting them in this position, right?" She asked with a disapproving frown.
"Indubitably." Bruns confirmed. "Plus, what's life without taking some risks?"
The pregnant woman glares at her husband amusingly. "Keep talking like that and you're sleeping on the couch, mister."
"Oooh, maybe I do dare." He accepted the challenge trailing fingers from her shoulder to her neck. "After all, how'd I end up with a fine specimen such as yourself my dear?"
"You love to talk." Ferne leans in. "I just know how to make you stop talking." She shoves his face into her chest in response. "Not exactly, the usual way, but this works too." Bruns muffled.
We now change to see the guest bedroom where the two teen avian demons were sleeping in. Right now Octavia stirred from her slumber rubbing her eyes yawning a bit. She looked over to the clock and saw that it was only midnight, the female owl demon had gone to bed around seven so it was still a long way before the next day had come. Aside from that, she heard light snoring and exhaling coming from Donner who was snuggled fast asleep on the floor laying on his stomach using his own wings as a blanket.
She couldn't help but chuckle seeing this. "Well at least you're comfortable." Octavia glanced out through her window a few thoughts rolling through her head.
'Even though I was supposed to hang out with dad, this whole day didn't turn out so bad. Plus, I actually got to make another female friend. Not to mention someone I could talk to aside from mom...' Octavia then hummed in thought. 'Plus, the whole hot spring was amazing, maybe I should try and see if I can budge dad into getting one. But only as long as 'nothing' else happens in there.' She frowned at the thought.
As nice as Ferne is, she is a handsy little lady. And having a hot spring all to herself wouldn't be too bad to have. Anything's better than hearing constant pissing matches between her family. 'Then again maybe not so little.' An image of her chest bounced into mind. 'Those things would have to be stressful for her back or something.' Octavia deadpanned.
'Maybe it's the pregnancy.' She thought. 'Women always grow along with the babies. At least with mammals.'
"Birds would count right?" She asked herself before light snoring from Donner as he shifted a bit in his sleep returning her attention back to him.
Octavia then blinked in realization. This was actually the first time she ever had another demon aside from folks, the servants of the household share and sleep in the same room. So, this was actually a bonus for her. Not to mention Donner looked a bit peaceful as he was sleeping. Octavia proceeded to step out of the bed carefully tipping over Donner so she wouldn't wake him up.
"Ahh... Don't stop, baby..." He mumbled.
"Huh?" Octavia paused for a split moment upon hearing that. "What did he just say?" She whispered to herself. "I could've sworn he just..."
Donner groaned a bit as he moved around some more. "Gimme..."
Octavia turned her head and saw Donner with a goofy grin on his face. "What is he dreaming about?" She asked herself.
"Mmm, don't stop...Let me have the goodness...Add the whip cream..."
"Goodness? Whip cream?" Octavia was trying to piece it together. "Huh?"
"Add in the cherry...oh right there...perfect..." He was now drooling from the side of his mouth.
Octavia suddenly covered her mouth trying to hold back the laughter that was trying to escape from her beak. "No...freakin 'way..." She giggled now realizing what he was dreaming about. "He's dreaming about cake...Oh wow..."
Definitely not what she was expecting to hear from him in the middle of the night. Octavia realized that she was still standing over him. "Ok, I better get off before this gets awkward." Little did she realize, just as she was going to move over Donner grabbed Octavia down by her talon. "C'mon, let's share a bite."
"Whoa!" Before she could have a moment to react Donner snagged her up into a hug bringing her up close to him.
"Oh crap..." The female owl demon breathed out. "This isn't good...Donner...Donner..." She tried tapping his shoulder and even jabbed a finger as his beak but he wouldn't budge.
"Oh, don't be like that." Donner mumbled. "It's delicious!"
"He's not even listening to me..." Octavia muttered under her breath. She proceeded to try and wiggle out of his grip. "Shit! He's only a bit smaller than I am and he's so freakin' strong!" She continued to struggle.
"C'mon, open wide." Donner playfully opened his toothy mouth. "Ahh."
"Donner, wake up!" The thunderbird only snuggled closer to her captive companion. Despite the situation she was in, Octavia was relieved on one part, because if Stella was here then she'd be tearing Donner a new one. As for what her dad's reaction would be, she wasn't so sure but figured it wouldn't be as good either.
"See, Via?" Donner smiled. "I told you you'd like it."
For a brief moment everything seemed to freeze as she tuned out everything else upon hearing that word. "Wh-What did he just say?"
"I've always wanted to have moments like these. Being happy with you." Those were the last words he mumbled before snoring once again.
Octavia's natural reaction was a furious blush. She wasn't expecting to hear something like this, much less from Donner, her supposed girl struggled once more in his grip. Yet again, she couldn't be free of his snuggling might. To which adds to her frustration. "Dammit..." She cursed out before glancing at Donner's sleeping face, a soft expression forming onto her face. "M-Maybe...Maybe it's alright for now." Hesitantly she raises up and gently starts to pet the back of his head getting a light hum from Donner's sleeping form.
The princess couldn't help but find this situation a little funny. Here she was trying to avoid any kind of relationship while Donner is seeking one out. She wasn't sure if it was ironic or something of the sort. "Why are you cute when you sleep?" She questioned in confusion.
The Next Morning
From Donner's point of view, he began to stir as he began to move around enjoying the pillow he was sleeping on.
His eyes slowly started to open as he was getting a feeling around his surroundings, he started to feel and hear the sounds of light breathing. Slow enough his eyes shot open. "Ah!" Donner shot back in shock; the reason why was because he found out what he was sleeping on or rather who he was sleeping on top of. It was Octavia, this meant that the pillows...were...her... "Oh...shit." He breathed out in shock.
Millions and millions of thoughts rang through his head. He didn't know what to think. How did she get here? Did he do something? At this point, Donner had better pray to Lucifer that this is the only thing that happened.
Then it happened, Octavia woke up with a light groan sitting up and yawning, stretching her arms. "Huh? Donner? What are you-" She paused upon seeing his blushing face shaking slightly. For a brief moment Octavia was confused before she blinked in realization her face blushing just as much as her bodyguard was.
Immediately both teenagers stood up and backed away from each other. The blue eyed avian held his hands up in defense. "Oh, God! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that! Why?!"
"Uh..." Octavia was just as surprised as he was, considering the fact that they ended up sleeping with one another directly? But yet oddly enough she was calm with it despite the blush on her face.
For a moment she averted her eyes and put both hands behind her back. "It's alright...Donner, really..."
"No! I shouldn't have done that!" Donner stressed. "It wasn't right, you, me, I." He placed his palms on his forehead. He was getting psyched out.
Donner didn't know what to say, he was such a stuttering mess and Octavia had never seen him like this before. It was very hard to believe, this young avian demon who could kill others with ease was acting like an actual teenager. A very embarrassed one too. "P-Ple-Please don't tell Stolas about this, much less Merida!"
"Donner..." She stepped forward gently grabbing his hands, taking him by surprise. "It's ok, really. I'm not mad."
"But I..." The thunderbird tried to say, he's truly at a loss for words.
"Hey, you somehow convinced me to learn more magic, which is something I haven't done in a while. And that led to a break from the house. Not to mention making a new friend, so I hardly have any reason at all." Octavia gave him a smile letting go of his hand. "So, look whatever happened, was just an accident, ok? I owe you, so this payment. Especially because I'd never hear the end of it from mum."
Donner blinked for a moment before fidgeting his claws together still bearing his blush. "Yeah...that's fair enough."
Suddenly they both heard muttering from the side and glanced over to see it was Bruns writing something on a small notebook. The male bat demon giggled madly as he finished writing. "Don't mind me, I was never here." He said before gently closing the door.
"Could you excuse me a second, my lady?" Donner asked politely, a very visible tick mark popping out of his feathered forehead.
"Uh sure..." Octavia replied before Donner dashed to the door and bolted down the hallway causing wind to pick up blowing her hair and quickly peaked over to watch Donner fly after his mentor. "Wow, he sure can move quickly..." The owl commented as he heard their voices echo through the halls, or rather the castle itself.
"Run all you want, you nosey little fiend. I'm going to take that pen out of your hands and shove it up your nose!" She heard the thunderbird yell across the hall.
"Mwahahahahahahaha!" Bruns laughed confidently as the sounds of random items were heard breaking. "If I can't get the load out on juicy gossip like much less interesting information like this, then what else is there to live for!? Hehahahahaha!"
"Are freakin serious right now!?" Octavia heard Ferne's voice now. "It's five in the morning!"
"Sorry, dearie!" He called out. "I just can't- Woah!" A crack of thunder echoed further down the halls. "Get. Back. HERE!"
"Sorryloveyou, pleasegobacktobed!" Bruns cried out as he and Donner came flying back past her again.
"Too late for that now!" Ferne replies back before she sighs and comes flying over to Octavia as the sound of her husband's laughter continues to be heard. "Morning."
"Umm, morning." The girl nodded to the matriarch, awkwardly. "Does this happen a lot?"
"In Donners case no, my husband on the other hand. Yes." Ferne confirmed.
"And here I thought I have issues." The pink eyed owl snarked.
The pregnant bat chuckled in response. "Eh, everyone has something. So, care for some breakfast before returning? These two will be like this for a while."
"Why not." She shrugged. Octavia proceeded to walk alongside with Ferne as the chase intensified leading outside. "So, what might have happened that struck my ever so nosy beloved to you and Donner anyways?"
"Nothing much, just waking up on the wrong side of bed." The owl demon vaguely told the mother, a pink hue popping out of her cheeks.
"Hmhm." Ferne wasn't so convinced. "Which way might've that been?" Octavia turned to give her a flat look. "Ok, ok. You don't have to say. But between you and me, I can keep a secret hidden even from Bruns if you ever feel like talking. I can always lend an ear."
"Maybe when they're not running around the halls." The teenager suggested to the bat demon.
"I'll second that. But, I do hope you'll come around again some time."
"I think I might." Octavia confirmed before she saw Donner fly outside tackling Bruns finally catching him. "Ha! I got you! Now fork it over!"
"Neva! I refuse!" Bruns replied leaving Octavia smiling, this whole experience was actually kind of fun. But for a brief moment she recalled what Donner said in his sleep.
Was this what he really wanted from her? Both avian demons together in one room over some romantic dinner and some cake? For a long time, the young Goetia avoided such ideas, knowing how false it was in the hierarchy. No matter who her mother brought home, she would avoid them at any cost. But this is a different story. Donner wasn't some royal jackass or some random servant in the household, he was her friend. He's always himself even when putting on a facade and all the time she can just be usual normal self, not acting proper as she was taught all her life, none of that.
If what Ferne said is true, maybe Octavia should think about this more carefully. That and keep Bruns away with a 50 ft pole. Maybe and even possibly talk it over with her dad? No, that'd be a bit too fast and her mother would find out. For right now, one thing at a time, because sooner or later she'd have to deal with this and not ignore it, just as some would always say, just follow your gut.
Here's hoping it doesn't haunt her. But then again, if Octaiva was right, there was at least someone who'd be sure she wouldn't have to face it alone.
From the screen of the old tv we zoom outwards to see Destiny close the book it had petting Mitty behind the cats ears.
"You see, right there. A perfect example taking risks and thinking on ahead. We do it every single day."
*Meow*
"Yeah, that's true. I mean, those two are taking some things into account and trying to budge whenever they should do it or not. I hope things go well for them, but hence as it's my job, nothing is ever so simple."
*Meow*
"Want to watch a movie? Ok, but no Garfield this time." Destiny turns to the audience/readers. "So with that said, see you all next time."
To be continued.
Ok, now my next focus of updating will be Mysterious Magic, and yes, yes I know it's 'long overdue' but come on give me a break, who's writing these me, along with a few that's helping me write these things.
It all depends on what goes on, but no worries I'll do my best trying to update that story again.
Now replying back to reviewers
The Sayian Boy. You're too kind.
Gamelover41592. Thank you.
God of the Challenge. Eh, be as it may, I just followed my gut on that part, as for Tag, never heard of it.
King of 2211. I thought it did. *Shrug* but yeah, glad that you liked it and hope you enjoyed this one too.
desmond bot. 1. Nah, Bruns and his wife are like some of the only few demons in hell that get along with him, others not so much since they think he's a joke ever since sleeping with Blitz. 2. Who knows, that's for me to know and you to find out when the time is right. 3. Perhaps, but trying not to be too obvious to spoil everything. 4. I believe what transpired in the hot springs with Ferne and Octavia is enough to answer that one.
Toa Solaricx2. C5. That's ok dude, no hard feelings and glad you're enjoying it. C8. Well don't thank just me, thank the partner for helping writing them. Hope ya liked this chapter as well.
Marbled Gold. Huh, I never figured that one random cat would be such a hit. As for adding in Sallie May and having it paired with Stu, yeah I figured add in something that kept the dynamics of the show.
Guest #1. Nope, not interested in them.
tamrynmyhre2.0. Yeah, Quest for Camelot.
Guest #2. chapter 1 . The JoJo Bizarre Adventure x Star vs Forces of Evil is a very interesting Fanfiction Crossover but its kind of... Could be should Be Better compared to other Fanfictions and Crossover Fanfiction of yours and I believe the same opinion of the Kamen Rider x RWBY Crossover, it is disorganized and could be Better.
Ok, you, stop the car. I know it could be, hell how do you think I manage to write things like this? With a little bit of help and learning over time from mistakes. Plus, I've been thinking of getting rid of that kamen rider x rwby story for a while anyways.
Guest#3. Just did a while back this month. Quit asking me when I'm gonna update my stuff, because after a while it get's irritating.
