It's crazy (that someone could change me)
A/N: I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Disclaimer: I don't own Hey Arnold!
Sometimes Helga didn't eat. Not the times when she's rather starve than eat but more so, choosing to not eat despite there being nothing wrong with the food.
It wasn't something she shared, criminy! She barely knew why she starved herself sometimes.
That wasn't exactly true.
She knew why.
Lately, She didn't eat often and she didn't complain about it either. When Phoebe noticed her best friend's lack of appetite she shot worried glances her way. Those aren't enough to get Helga to fess up.
Just like when she employed Arnold into getting the blonde girl to open up. She still didn't. She cut them out as usual with a couple of mean remarks and walked off. It was all she could do to get both her boyfriend and Phoebe off her back.
She couldn't bear the idea of Arnold pressing on her about it either. He was bad enough with constantly making sure she had enough to eat every day.
Helga knew he was just being a good boyfriend but she couldn't deny herself the pretend dismay. They both knew she loved it, loved his caring mind almost as much as she, well, loved him.
"C'mon Helga, I know you didn't eat today." Arnold sighed in exasperation, "Please just eat the pudding."
"What are you deaf, football head? I said I'm not hungry! CRIMINY!" The last part coming out in a yell.
"You don't eat and you won't even tell me why. Why won't you tell me why instead of yelling?"
"I said-"
"I know what you said but that doesn't answer my question."
"I-"
"I'm your boyfriend Helga. I love you. Why won't you just tell me?"
'Oh great, now he's disappointed.' Helga thought. She felt the boy's gentle hands take hers and rub them softly. Normally it'd relax her, but now it just set her on edge.
"Relax football head. It's nothing personal. Sometimes I just don't eat."
"You and I both know that's not exactly true. You eat all the time, at least you used to."
"Phoebe and you have nothing better to do but stalk me huh?"
Arnold gave up and sighed. Today he wouldn't get anywhere. "Whatever you say, Helga."
