A Explosive Entrance.
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
Five years has passed since the Galactic Republic was transformed in to the Galactic Empire. Under the leadership of Emperor Palpatine, the Empire has a strangle hold on the galaxy, with many planets joining the new government, either through bribes, threats, or force.
People across the galaxy live in near constant fear of the Empire, worrying what would happen if they did anything to provoke them. But not everyone has chosen to just role over and let the Empire do whatever they want to their worlds.
Insurrections has begun forming all over the galaxy, few in numbers but still a threat to the Empire's galactic order, all seeking to bring down the tyrannical empire and win back their freedom.
One of the most aggressive rebel cells were called Avalanche, who's soul mission was to make life hell for the Empire. They had a plan to destroy one of the Imperial facilities on planet Gaia, with the help of another enemy of the empir...
A train rushes along the magnetic guides at a huge speed. On the roof of this train stands a blonde young man with a lightsaber attached to his belt. The train slows down as it reaches it's station. Two Stormtrooper guards walk out of the guard post. They split up to examine the train. Suddenly, the first trooper letäs out a sound in the distance and when the second trooper looked, he saw his partner being pulled in to the shadows. Holding his blaster ready, he goes to check on his partner, ready to fire if he has to. But as he reaches the spot, a man grabs him around the neck in a choke hold and a woman runs up and kicks him hard in his stomach, knocking what little air he had out of him, making it easier to choke him out. A large black man wearing sunglasses named Barret comes out on the platform.
"Get down here, merc" He ordered.
The young man jumps on a platform. This man was non other than Cloud Strife. Having spent a year recovering from all that happened, he had now taken up the job as a mercenary and was willing to do just about anything for a good amount of credits, even attacking the empire. Two more Stormtroopers runs out, weapons drawn.
"They're all yours" Barret said as he rejoined his team.
Cloud said nothing as he takes out his lightsaber and advanced on the troopers.
"He's a jedi! Blast him!" One of the troopers said as both began firing at Cloud.
Cloud deflected a bolt back at one of the troopers and quickly finished of the second one with a single strike. The rebels proceeded further inside the facility, leaving Cloud to distract the security. Turns out it's easy to miss a small group of rebels when a jedi is swinging his lightsaber around. Moving at inhuman speed, which only a force user could reach, Cloud cut through the troopers like a deadly blur of blue light. One trooper got ready to throw a detonator, only for Cloud to reach out with the force and prevented the trooper from letting go of the live detonator, which exploded right in his face, killing him.
Cloud continued on until he saw the group of rebels. Barret and a man named Wedge were standing guard, while the third man named Biggs was working on unlocking the door, as the woman named Jessie eyed Cloud with a curious expression.
"So what's Jedi boy's deal? Is he one of us now? He's got guts, this, uh… Uh… what was his name again?" Jessie asked.
"Cloud. Cloud Strife" Biggs answered.
Jessie nods "Right, so why would a jedi join up with a bunch of rebels like us?".
"He isn't a Jedi anymore, not after what the empire did to the order, massacred most of them and now there are barely anyone left. Still, his powers and lightsaber is much better than anything we have. I'm glad to have him" Biggs explained.
"This is a onetime deal, I'm only here for the credits. When it's done, we're done" Cloud said a monotone voice, which earned an annoyed glare from Barret.
Wedge looked at Cloud "You'll keep us safe… right, Cloud? Wow, they've almost got the door. C'mon, nobody'd do something this crazy just for some credits. They may not think you're a true believer, but you know what I think?".
"Not interested" Cloud said coldly, shutting down any of Wedge's attempts to befriend him.
Once the door was opened, everyone hurried through, but Barret stopped to give Cloud a warning "You'd better be worth the money, jedi. Every last credit".
Cloud wasn't effected at all by Barret's tone as he just continued on. More Stormtroopers ran in and fired at Cloud, only to meet the same fate as the ones before. But some Scout troopers ran in, holding Electro riot batons. One went to strike Cloud, who blocked the blow with his lightsaber before forcing the trooper's guard open and slashed him across the chest. Two more ran at him, attacking him together. Cloud use the force to push one away as he attacked the other one. The trooper managed to block what should've been a kill strike, but the force of the blow staggered him, allowing Cloud to stab him through the chest. The first trooper recovered from the force push, but didn't have the chance to keep fighting as Cloud threw his saber through the trooper's chest.
Cloud pulled his saber back with the force and regrouped with the others. Barret's attitude had not changed, even after Cloud had made their job so much easier.
"I heard you jedi were guardians of peace, using your lightsabers only in defense of others. But you're not the only ones with those fancy sabers, are you? I hear rumors of people with red lightsabers, only these guys will cut your hand of if you as much as look at them funny. But yours is blue, so you should be good right? Or are you secretly one of them and just using a different saber?" Barret demanded.
Cloud gave him a mildly annoyed look "I'm a former jedi, but I'm not an Inquisitor. If I were, you'd already be dead".
Barret glared at him "I'll be watching you".
"In three, two…" Biggs counted down before he managed to open another door "Damn, I'm good!".
Cloud walked though the door and was met by an Imperial Officer and his troopers "Who's there!? Close the blast Door!".
They lock the blast door behind Cloud, separating him from the rest of the group.
The Officer aims his blaster along with his troops "It's over! Surrender!".
"That's my line. Or at least, it used to be" Cloud said as he takes out his lightsaber.
The Officer and the troopers fired and Cloud once again simple sent the bolts back, hitting the officer in the shoulder, making him run away, leaving his troopers to face Cloud by themselves and each one of them were easily cut down. The others managed to hack the blast doors and opened them. Once inside, they noticed the large amount of dead troopers.
"Wow, I heard jedi were supposed to be merciful" Jessie said, a little unnerved by how brutal Cloud was.
"Former jedi remember, and anyone who serves the empire deserves no mercy" Cloud said.
"On that, we agree. These Imps use their undeserved power to suck the life out of planets and kill innocents. They're getting what's coming to them, and that's why we're here" Barret declared, making his view on the Empire extremely clear.
They continued on, with Biggs and Wedge staying behind to cover them as they headed for an elevator which should take them where they need to go. Cloud pushed the button and as they waited for the elevator, Jessie decided to ask something she's been wondering about for a while now.
"So… you know Tifa, right? It's not really my business, but are you guys close?" She asked, having heard Cloud and Tifa knew each other when they were younger.
Cloud was silent for a moment, remembering his childhood friend before he spoke "Tifa and I...".
Before he could finish, the elevator arrived They're getting in the elevator. Barret pushes Cloud away and gets in first.
As they began descending Barret began speaking a bit too loud "This factory's sole purpose is to drain the planet dry. While everyone pretends it's fine, the empire is draining the life out of the planet to fuel their war ships, all so they can continue to push us down. But even planets have a limit to how much abuse they can take, or how much life it can loose. The hell you think's gonna happen when it's all gone, huh!? Answer me! You gonna stand there and pretend you can't hear the planet crying out in pain? I know you can, you can feel it through the force, right?!".
Cloud was silent for a moment, truth is that he can sense something is very wrong with this planet, like it was indeed crying out in pain. He wasn't sure what it was... but he had a bad feeling it was more than just the Empire that was causing all this. They continued on, until Stormtroopers began firing at them from a catwalk above them. Cloud deflected the bolts but had no way of getting to them.
"Gonna throw your saber at 'em? Let the man with the fire power go to work!" Barret declared as he revealed his missing arm had been replaced with an Z-6 rotary blaster cannon "These bucket heads ain't got nothing on me!".
He began firing at the troopers, the barrage of blaster killing them very quickly. It's a wonder how Barret could've simply replaced his arm with such a weapon, but Cloud has seen stranger things in his life. They pressed on until they finally reached the reactor. A well placed explosion would bring down the entire facility, so they would need to make a quick get away.
"That's our target. The reactor core. Gotta set the bomb at the bottom. Let's get down there" Jessie said.
As they climb down Barret was almost shaking "Goddamn… I can practically feel the lack of life in here, and I'm not even a jedi… Hurry it up! My heart's pounding like a hammer!".
"Scared, huh?" Cloud asked.
"Hah! More like excited. I've been dreaming about this for years! We're finally going to stick it to those Imperial scum!" Barret said.
"Heads up, boys—the end's in sight. I leave the rest in your capable hands. Good luck!" Jessie said.
Cloud and Barret head down and they're coming up to the reactor itself.
"All right. Let's see if you really are different from the jedi… Go on" Barret said as he holds up the bomb "Do the honors. Prove to me you're the man Tifa says you are. That you're one of us".
"Never said I was. I'm just here for the credits" Cloud said.
Barret glared at him "Then do the damn job!".
Annoyed Cloud grabs the bomb and heads over to the reactor, but then he gets a bad headache. He could sense something... something dark... evil... like death itself was watching him, waiting to claim his life...
"What's wrong?" Cloud snaps back to reality and looks to see Barret giving him a confused look
"I'm fine. What about the timer?" Cloud asked.
"Your call, jedi" Barret answered.
Cloud looks at the bomb and chose twenty minutes, believing it would be enough time to get out without anyone disarming it.
Barret looked a little nervous "Pretty cocky, ain't cha?".
Cloud doesn't have time to run the timer like someone or something rushes into the hangar. Cloud quickly takes out his lightsaber and Barret briefly sees it as a betrayal attempt and is pointing his weapon at him.
"You double-crossing—" He began but was quickly cut of.
"Heads up!" Cloud said.
Barret looks up "What in the hell!?".
A large red droid jumps on the platform. It looked like an LM-432 crab droid that the Separatist Alliance used during the Clone wars. But this one was bigger and heavily modified, it was clear it was a lot more dangerous than it's smaller counterparts. Barret quickly fired at it's eye, believing it to be it's weak spot, but the Crab droid used it's large front legs as shields to block the shots. Cloud ran in with his saber, leaping in to the air to deliver a strike to it's unprotected back... or so he thought, before his saber failed to penetrate it's armor.
"What? Come on!" He said in annoyance before blaster canons emerged from the crab droid's back and forced him to jump off.
"Hey! How the hell do we fight this thing?" Barret demanded as his blaster canon wasn't doing any damage either.
"It's got reinforced armor plating, we won't have much luck damaging it from the outside, we need a electric discharge to overload it's internal system" Cloud answered as he avoided being crushed by the crab droid.
"No other option, huh? Well good thing all the droids in the clone wars taught me to always come prepared" Barret said as he took out an EMP grenade.
He threw it and the EMP wave caused the crab droid to start acting up, no longer targeting them... but rather just firing in random directions, it would bring the whole room down at this rate. Cloud noticed it firing out several missiles, so he focused on the force and guided the missiles back at the rampaging droid, successfully staggering it, allowing Cloud to rush in and stab it through the eye with his lightsaber, successfully destroying it.
"Shit! The bomb!" Barret said as he noticed the bombs timer had started up... only now they only had 1o minutes, likely caused by the EMP blast.
"Move!" Cloud shouted.
The two began running as fast as their legs could carry them. They met back up with Jessie. The hangar starts to collapse and a piece falls on Jessie.
Cloud runs up to her "You okay?".
"Do I look okay!? Help a girl out, would ya!?" Jessie shouts and Cloud removed the piece "My hero!".
They continue on to regroup with Barret and began climbing some latters.
"Come this way! This route should lead us straight to Barret! Probably! I think I see an exit. Come on! Don't look back! Let's go, let's go, let's go! We're running out of time!" Jessie said.
" Shut up and climb. You're not helping" Cloud said.
"Sorry, it just—It keeps me focused! I'll freak out if I don't talk!" Jessie said sheepishly.
"Have it your way" Cloud said.
Once they get back to Barret, they're being attacked by some flying droids. Which Barret quickly shoots down. They continue running, fighting their way through some more droids, which confirmed the Stormtroopers had cleared out. The timer was down to seconds now as they entered the elevator again.
Barret nervously watched the elevator numbers "Come on… come on, come on, come on!".
He looks back at Cloud and sees that he keeps his cool and he is overcome with shame as he forces himself to calm down. They're coming out of the elevator.
"We don't have a lot of time here! Pick up the pace, people!" Jessie yelled.
"Over here! This way!" Wedge called over to them.
[Jessie's getting another piece of debris on her head.
Cloud helps her up "Can you walk?".
"If I couldn't believe me, you'd be the first to know" Jessie answered.
"I'll take that as a yes" Cloud said.
On the bridge on which they run, a pipe falls, separating the them.
"Cloud!" Jessie called out.
But as it turns out, it's no problem Cloud. Using the force to enhance himself, he jumps off part of the bridge and gets to the other side.
"Okay, that was pretty cool" Jessie said with a thumbs up, which actually earns a smirk from Cloud.
People on the street watching the facility explode... and it ends up causing damage to the town as well, making people run away in panic. The rebels barely escaped the explosion, and by some miracle, non of them were seriously hurt... but the destruction was much worse than they expected... they silently hoped no innocent died.
Some time had passed since the explosion, and several Imperials were inspecting the damage... and checking on how many casualties they've suffered. The Officer in charge looked around at the destruction, horrified by all the death.
"Damn terrorists... what did they hope to gain from this?" He wondered.
"Sir... Someone is here" A Trooper said.
The Officer looked and gasped as a figure dressed in black approached "Inquisitor! I didn't know you were coming".
"I received reports a jedi was attacking this facility. Looks like I arrived to late to stop him" The Inquisitor said as he looked over the damage.
"Yes, there was a jedi with the rebels. We're preparing a squad to hunt him down as we speak" The Officer said.
"That will not be necessary, I will hunt down this jedi myself" The Inquisitor said as he walked away, his yellow eyes glowing.
Things were soon going to get a lot worse.
.
Well, this wasn't a story I expected to write. But after writing the Last Stand Of A Jedi SOLDIER, which was meant to just be a one shot to celebrate the Star Wars day. But people enjoyed it and was disappointed it wasn't a full story. The more I thought about it, I realized that the FF7 story could work in Star Wars.
Obviously I don't want this to just be a Star Wars version of the Final Fantasy 7 story, so I will change things along the way. I do have a few ideas I want to try out, and maybe mix pieces of the Star Wars stories going on around this time frame.
.
Hope you enjoyed the first chapter, and please tell me what you think and what you're hoping to see.
