Naru stared at the dummy in front of her as she focused, her SOUL in the air in front of her. 'PATIENCE specializes in restricting movement, similar to INTEGRITY. So what if I-' A Froggit suddenly jumps into the room, startling the redhead and causing her SOUL to return to her body.

"Ribbit ribbit.(My apologies.)" The Froggit looks down as they croak, "ribbit ribbit.(The queen is looking for you.)"

Naru smiles at the Froggit, "it's alright. Is Ms. Toriel at the entrance?" As the Froggit nods, the young kunoichi starts walking, tying her hair into a loose braid. "Thank you for informing me." She gives the Froggit some G and continues, swiftly reaching the hole that she had fallen from. 'Hard to believe it's been almost a month since I fell and Ms. Toriel took me in.' As Naru walks to the flower patch, she remembers something that Toriel told her.

"My child, you have powerful magic sitting latent in you." The two were sitting at the flowers, watering and weeding them.

"What do you mean?" Naru looked at Toriel curiously, her tanned skin being slightly paler than before.

"Everything in this world has magic. While humans cannot normally access it, with the right training their magic will flow freely." Toriel looked wistful as she said this, "one of the previous children was quite DETERMINED and nearly awoke their magic." Naru was silent as she took this in before noticing something.

"The way you said that… it sounded really important…" Toriel looked at Naru in surprise before realizing that TRAITS must no longer be common knowledge amongst humans.

"Indeed it is. All humans have some form of DETERMINATION, however it is also a primary SOUL TRAIT." Toriel raised her hand to keep Naru from asking, "give me a moment to consider how to phrase this. I hadn't realized TRAITS were forgotten."

Naru chuckles as she thinks back on how Toriel taught her of the seven primary TRAITS that make up a human SOUL. Toriel looks up at hearing Naru's chuckle, having been attending to the flowers, "hello my child. I'm glad Froggit was able to find you so easily." They both let out a small laugh at this, knowing that the RUINS monsters would easily find the human girl since they like to talk with her.

"What'd you need me for, ?" Naru looks at the motherly goat woman, moving to help with tending the flowers.

"I figured we could continue our lessons on SOUL TRAITS and how they affect one's magic." Naru perked up at this, she enjoyed learning the ways that monster magic interacted with the world and how their magic specialty revealed what their trait is. "Each TRAIT has an opposing TRAIT, often connected to the negative aspects. An example of this is JUSTICE often becoming VENGEANCE. Each trait also has a unique magic connection," Toriel starts gently waving one hand as she explains, creating a small illusion of a bright yellow heart representing JUSTICE, a duller one next to it representing VENGEANCE. "Those with yellow, or JUSTICE, magic often use bullet-like attacks. In humans, this causes their SOUL to appear much like a monster's while in battle, upside down. This also allows them to shoot their own bullet-like attacks from their SOUL, even while their magic is inactive."

"Does every TRAIT have something similar? Or is that unique to JUSTICE," Naru questioned.

"Most TRAITS are much more passive. Little tics that exemplify the TRAIT more, not so much in battle." Toriel smiled, "the child of KINDNESS was able to cook meals that restored large amounts of HP." Naru looked at Toriel, confused. The ex-queen would rarely talk about the previous Fallen, merely stating how the king was a fool for not learning from his past, insisting on killing the children instead of allowing them to live out their lives and give their SOULs when dying. Toriel simply shook her head and continued the lesson, Naru soaking up the info like a sponge as they continued tending to the flowers.

As years continue to pass, Naru becomes well-versed in both magic and navigating the RUINS, her hair shifting from red to cyan from excess magic.

Welcome to one of the first extra content that won't be in the main fic. This one in particular was an eventually scrapped Chapter One attempt. It's mainly just Naru training under Toriel and learning how magic and the Underground works. I am working on a more completed Chapter One and will be trying to get it up before the end of the month but I figured y'all would like something in the meantime. Please enjoy!
