EDIT (11/11/2022)- This fic now under the 'Twilight Princess' label. Mostly because that game has the most influence on this fic (Breath of the Wild coming in a close second). Looking back I probably should've done it from the get go but better late than never I guess *shrugs*. This fic had also underwent through some edits. Fixed up the grammar and made some minor story tweaks as well up until chapter 24 (at the time of this date).

Now thats taken care of, lets get one with the story

Prologue

This is a story... A simple story, really. About heroism, faith, and love.

About the ultimate battle between good and evil. About how light can shine even in the darkest places.

About a boy and a girl who were both tied by destiny.

They both got swept into war. A war they didn't know even existed. A war against a force so dark, it tried to black out the sun.

Fighting alongside them were survivors. True warriors. And whom the enemy considered traitors.

Together, they fought and stood up for those who could not. Fought against the forces of darkness

But little did they all know that one of them had a destiny more significant than any imagined.

This is how they found their path of destiny.

Many had considered the kingdom of Hyrule a great nation. For ten thousand years, the country stood firm under the royal family's rule, said to be decedents of a former goddess known as Hylia. Rulers had come and gone, but it was under the direction of King Daphnes Nohansen Harkinian and his wife, Queen Lydia Bosphoramus Harkinian, that harmony in the land seemed to have indeed reached its peak. King Daphnes was stern but fair, while Queen Lydia's kindness was not limited. The two rulers had also been recently blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Their daughter, the princess, and one day Queen of Hyrule. She would grow under her parents' great wisdom and continue the legacy her bloodline had provided. With the kingdom's future secured and under the guidance of their fair rulers, Hyrule seemed to be on the path of a Golden Era. Perhaps the most fantastic era would go down in the kingdom's history.

But in a single night, hopes for such a future had been put to an end. All thanks to one man.

The night lay quiet in Hyrule. Citizens in the capital, Castle Town, were in their homes peacefully sleeping, unaware of the events about to occur within the walls of Hyrule Castle.

Hiding in the shadows in the castle is Ganondorf Dragmire, leader of the mysterious Gerudo Tribe. Until several months ago, the tribe had no contact with the country. Ganondorf arrived intending to build a relationship between his tribe and the kingdom. It wasn't long until Ganondorf became an influential royal court member. What no one knew was that Ganondorf had the desire to take control of Hyrule. Ganondorf has...abilities that are unlike any other. He used them to gain the trust of the royal court at relatively quick ease, including the royal family. Then when the time came, Ganondorf would assassinate the King & Queen and pin the crime onto others. Of course, he would spare their infant daughter, but only because he intends to raise her as a mere figurehead, nothing more. The princess would be the puppet, while he would be the real puppetmaster.

And after waiting for many months, tonight was the night when he finally set his plan into full motion. Lurking within the castle, with the help of the selected Gerudo warriors he brought along to deal with the 'minor threats,' he managed to sneak through the halls without causing any alarm. Soon, he arrived at the door that led to the royal chambers.

"Wait here and keep watch. I will handle the rest myself," Ganondorf commanded one of his Gerudo warriors.

The Gerudo warrior saluted him. Ganondorf went down that hall and stood before the door to the royal's bedroom. Opening the door, he entered the room, approaching the bed. When he removed the covers, he was surprised to see not the royal couple but a pile of pillows.

"It appears my suspicions were correct." A stern voice echoed throughout the room.

Turning around, Ganondorf saw King Daphnes himself. A sword was in one of the king's hands while he used the other to close the door.

"Your majesty…" Ganondorf sneered.

"Ganondorf..." Daphnes simply replied back.

Without a second, the pair clashed swords and started dueling. After minutes of swings, strikes, and near misses, they entered a sword lock.

"I must admit, Daphnes, you caught me off guard just a bit," Ganondorf commented as he pushed against the king. "However, did you manage to figure out my intentions?"

"The goddesses have their ways of warning me." Daphnes used his sword to push Ganondorf.

"Well, warning or not, I will take your spot as ruler of Hyrule!"

"Not if I have something to say about it!"

The Hylian King charged at him. Daphnes tried with all his might to fight off Ganondorf, but the Gerudo man was proven to be much stronger. As Daphnes held his ground, he saw a faint glow from the back of Ganondorf's right hand, catching him off guard. Using this moment of Daphnes being distracted, Ganondorf quickly kicked the king's chest, causing him to crash onto a table, which broke into pieces. Before Daphnes could comprehend what had happened, Ganondorf impaled his sword through the king's chest.

"It's over, your majesty. You have lost." Ganondorf pulled his sword out and watched Daphnes groaning in pain, clutching his bleeding wound. "Before you die, tell me where your wife and daughter are?"

To his surprise, Daphnes gave a weak smirk as blood came from the corner of his mouth. "You fool," Daphnes choked out, sitting against the wall. "As I told you earlier, the goddesses have their ways of warning me. Even as we speak, my family is fleeing this castle with our bodyguard. They'll be long gone by the time you reach the town's gates…."

Ganondorf walked over to the window, which showed the view of Castle Town and Hyrule Field. Though it was a far distance, he could make out two figures on horses riding along the field before they both disappeared at the edge of it.

"You are more clever than I anticipated, Daphnes, but I will find them. They, along with your kingdom, are now mine."

"You may take over all of Hyrule, but you'll be taken down one day."

"I can ensure it will never come to that." Ganondorf kneeled to the dying king's level, looking him straight in the eye. "Nothing can stop me."

"Someone will. Someone...will…" Daphnes slumped on the ground on his side, his sword slid from his hands, and he slowly closed his eyes, never to open again.

King Daphnes Nohansen Harkinian of Hyrule is dead. Ganondorf should've felt victorious, yet he felt a pang of disappointment. This was the very moment Ganondorf had yearned to achieve for months now.

This whole time, the royal family had been on to him. They prepared for this, and now the queen and princess were on the run. This wasn't how he wanted to go. The queen was supposed to die alongside her husband. This plan could now be jeopardized. As Ganondorf thought about what to do, a sudden thought came.

If Daphnes and Lydia had full evidence of what Ganondorf was planning to do, he would've been arrested long before tonight. Given the lack of guards around the area, it was safe to say that besides the bodyguard, no one else knew of Ganondorf's intentions. Meaning his plans for a takeover could still work. Queen Lydia escaping with the princess would only be a minor setback.

A satisfied smirk grew on the Gerudo man's lips. Daphnes was intelligent, but he was overconfident. He probably thought he could stop Ganondorf himself. That had been proven to be a fatal flaw. If only the now-dead king knew the kind of power Ganondorf possessed.

Ganondorf will carry out the rest of his plan as intended. He would fabricate a fake story that a group of unknown individuals broke into the castle, murdered the king, and kidnapped the queen & princess. He would have his Gerudo to back him up to make the story more believable. This time, he will pin the murder on the bodyguard, branding her a fugitive. He would declare himself acting ruler until the two royals were found. When he does find Lydia and her bodyguard, he'll take care of them himself. And then everything in the kingdom, including the princess, will belong to him.

The thought of it made him smile in a sinister matter. Clenching his right hand into a fist, a faint glow of a triangle emulated from the back of his hand. Everything was turning out perfectly for him.

Unaware that destiny had their own plans for him in the future.

Hello everyone. This is my second attempt at this story. Let's hope this turns out better.

Things to note:

*Hyrule in this fic will be a mix of Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and Ocarina of Time.

*This story is original, meaning it does not take place in ANY of the timelines. Lore might be different as well...

*Characters from other games will appear, though may be different from their game counterparts

*Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf looks in this fic are their Twilight Princess designs (my favorite designs of them).

I'm not very experience with the series, gameplay wise (with the exception of Breath of the Wild), but I know the stories of them...so there's that.

And I'm only gonna say this once: I don't own Legend of Zelda

Favs, Follows, and Reviews are appreciated
