Baez looked at the time. It was only 2am. She decided to break the silence.
"So, how's Jack doing?"
"Fine. It'll take a while for him to get back to normal but it'll happen. Just gotta give it time. He's scared to walk home from school now. Now he knows anything can happen to him."
"Well, tell him a very tired Baez sends her love."
Danny laughed. "You had a full cup of coffee this morning."
"Oh shut up Danny. I already need another cup. Stop somewhere. Your buying."
"Why me? I bought coffee last time!" He tried to argue.
"Because your so happy in the a.m! In the EARLY a.m!"
"Fine. But no arguing about next time. Next time is your turn."
Danny was about to head to a coffee shop when they got a call on the radio about a shooting. Danny looked over at Baez and laughed. "Sorry. Have to get it later."
"Your just loving this aren't you?"
"Every minute of it."
They pulled up to the crime scene and got out of the car.
"What do we got?" Danny said.
"Twenty Seven year old Michael Langley. Single GSW to the back of the head."
"Any witnesses?" Baez asked.
"If there is, no one came forward."
Danny nodded. "Okay. Thank you."
The two detectives walked over to the body and Danny knelt down. He saw a couple drops of blood and some footprints going away from the crime scene and he started to follow it.
"What is it?" Bae asked and followed him.
"Blood. Leading away. Looks like our suspect got hit and went this way."
They both pulled put their weapons and followed the blood trail. It lead off to an abandoned house.
Danny knocked down the door and the shooter was lying there. Danny checked his pulse. He was dead.
"Looks like we found our shooter." He said as he kicked the gun out of the hand of the shooter.
After several hours if being on scene, the sun started to come up and their shift was coming to an end. They were back on the road with nothing to do again.
"How long do we have until out tour ends?" Baez asked.
Danny checked the time. One hour and six minutes. You can wait that long can you?"
"Not without coffee. Come on. You owe me."
"Still? I thought we went over this."
"We did. You never bought me my coffee. Remember?"
"But we have an hour left."
"You wont if you dont get me my coffee."
