Planning and Travel
Welcome to chapter 5! I have now realized the problem with my system for writing. See, I have 2 devices for writing each with their own files. So now my files are spread and I constantly lose my chargers!
The vibe of this story is going to be comedy, but I have been building a darker version in my head, and I'm going to try to get some in there to make it a better story, but the comedy element is sticking around. Though I might make a fully dark version later. If anyone would like to see it let me know. However for now I'm struggling to keep up with 2 works in progress. Hopefully you like this one, and this next edition of it.
Time in the cupboard seemed to pass differently, and nights are long when you can't tell time and won't sleep. The planning was fun and they decided that spur of the moment ideas would be fun but they couldn't rely on them.
As the son of a Marauder, the Godson of another, the cub of yet another one, Harry loved a good prank. Now all Harry knows right now is that he loves seeing funny stuff happen, but it's really in his blood.
So naturally the plan was really a great scheme that would be across his life, the funny parts involving other people and the less fun parts too be kept to himself.
To start off, Harry needs to study so he can execute the plan properly. Fortunately for Harry, he's got his own in-house teacher. However even the best teacher needs material and Harry has none. Harry decided to try and ask his aunt something, and if it went well, it would mean the start of something amazing, known as the study of magic.
So when the plan is completed, Harry goes to sleep and has a normal Saturday. He wakes up just before Aunt Petunia knocks on his door, and when she does, he does the chjores. However even when all the chores were completed, including meal preparation for dinner because its only 2pm and Vernon likes to be served dinner by his wife on the weekends.
Harry normally goes to the library but today he goes to Aunt Petunia.
"Aunt Petunia, may I explore today?" Now if she says no, then Harry needs to wait another week because if she says no today then she'll say no tomorrow. Exploring is a special thing that can only happen on the weekends, and that's if Aunt Petunia is feeling nice. Though we usually is, so this plan should work.
"Alright," Aunt Petunia says with a tight face. It seems to be a battle but the side that says he is asking something reasonable has won out. "However you must be back no earlier than dinner so I may say that you are locked up," Aunt Petunia says, restating the rules that Harry has heard every time he goes out when Uncle Vernon can't see him.
Aunt Petunia has always been kinder. She lets him out when Uncle Vernon wouldn't, and makes sure he doesn't starve. The only times she hits him are when he messes up in front of Uncle Vernon. With most of what he does with her is in the kitchen, so it doesn't matter much anyways. Since all of his chores are done, Harry figured that this phase would be successful.
Now Harry smiles, a small one because he knows smiling from him makes Aunt Petunia sad and if she's sad she won't let him out again, but a smile none the less. "Thank you Aunt Petunia!" And with that note, Harry leaves the living room where he had been, and carefully he leaves the house.
"That boy... The last of Lilly, yet so different. Maybe it was Potter in him, but he's always seemed something more. Maybe I can't help him but I won't try to hinder him, as best I can." Petunia said, Harry missing all of it. Tom however hadn't missed it.
It set him off thinking, thinking about all that he could do with Harry. He had learned a lot, but he also still had the mindset of Tom Riddle. Tom couldn't say he was fully Riddle anymore, what with the time and with Harry's influence, but He was still the same base. And that base was destined to be darker by nature, but now he was much more gray. Tom seemed to be influencing Harry's subconscious, causing a gray turn in the Light Potter's and Light Evans' son.
Well this is like mixing chocolate. Adding a dark bar and a white bar will give you 2 milk bars. Simple!
Harry was oblivious. Not to say he wasn't doing anything, he was going to the alley area Tom had pointed out to him earlier. It seemed that it was close to the side of the road, and if Harry sent out a burst like he had tried to when attempting to prolong the conversation with Tom, it would summon transportation.
Something good to mention is that Harry had no money, but that didn't mean Tom didn't. Contrary to Dumbledore's belief, he did check out other options for the prophecy, and was watching relatives of those two families. Ergo, he had a safe house here with money in it. Not as much as the used-to-be dark lord was supposed to, but enough for the Knight bus to take them to the leaky. Once there they could go to the goblins, bribe them with Slytherin's money, and take out funds for new books there. Also to grab old books Tom had left in there for a later date or a later heir.
Now, when Harry sent out a pulse of magic, it was how the wand normally responded to being stuck out like that, and you'd summon the Knight Bus, therefore calling the Knight Bus. Tom had told him the plan last night, and to do his best to act like a kid who was lost, and if he could start crying. So here's what Harry did.
"Ahhh! Who are you! How did you get here? Have you seen my mummy and daddy?" Harry said, his face looking a little red.
" 'Oi looke 'ere! A little laddy off all on 'is own? What are you doing round 'ere?" The conductor asked.
"I don't know!" Harry said, and started to cry. "I just really wanted my mummy and daddy and I can't find them! They said if I ever got lost to meet them at the leaky faucet I think? Can you take me there?" Harry said, trying his best to look the part of a sad kid who missed his parents, while keeping his hair on his forehead, just managing.
"You bet I can but it'll cost ya!" The conductor said, realizing that this boy meant the Leaky Cauldron, and that meant he was a half blood or a lifeblood to know about magic."You got 11 sickles?" And this seemed to be the question Harry needed. His crying slowed, and he said
"You can? Thank you so much." And his now red and puffy face had a small smile on it, and it looked good on Harry. Harry pulled out 11 medium sized silver coins, and handed them to the driver. He moved back, and sat down on one of the brass beds. The bus seemed empty, maybe becoming busier later?
You could hear the yell of "One Leaky Cauldron Earl! " from the conductor. The triple decker bus started moving, slowly and then becoming faster than eyes could comprehend.
It seemed to move through the cars with out hitting anything, and it was just a blur to muggles. If they could even see it, that is. With all the notice me nots, and disillusionment charms on it, it was a wonder any could see it. Even the muggles that did discounted it as a bird or a leaf. It seemed to work out for everyone.
Seeing as Harry was the only passenger, they reached the Leaky Cauldron very quickly. Harry dismounted and played the part of a grateful child, and profusely thanked the conductor. Leaving the bus behind, he entered the Leaky Cauldron. Seeing as there was no towering half-giant, and Harry was short for his age, he was able to pass through unnoticed.
With Tom's instructions Harry sent out a small pulse of magic to the correct brick, and entered Diagon Alley.
Harry looked around, taking in one of the largest wizarding hubs in the United Kingdoms. The first sight most British Wixen children saw as a large display of magic. Certainly, there was the household charms and spells but this? This was a large full on display of magic. Like Hogwarts, Diagon seemed alive in a way only a place saturated in magic for generations could be.
Now inside the alley, Harry could continue onto the next phase of the plan. Time to meet the goblins.
A/N: ITS ALIVE! Hello readers. Sorry I took so long, but I've been... Somewhat busy. I should have updated anyways but I couldn't find inspiration. It ended up coming in a wheel selector I did when bored. So I've edited the story so far, adding some things and fixing mistakes. I accidentally made Tom more Hufflepuff than a Slytherin had any right to be, even one that was full of righteous anger. Now I went in and made Tom more calculating, and just more him. Took a little while but all in all not that hard. In other news I start school again tomorrow, which means more posting. Oddly enough when I'm busy its easier to write.
Again anything you want added, just PM me or leave it in a review. Other than that, I think its time to say
-Clockwork Witch out!
