Grave
Harvey asks his wife to accompany him to Gordon's grave for the anniversary of his passing, and she doesn't hesitate for a second; she goes with him. First, they travel to New York to visit friends, and then to Boston.
The train ride is completely silent. Harvey stares out the window the whole time, and as Donna tries to guess what memories he's immersed in, she almost hears the gears of his mind turning and holds his hand the entire time.
The path to Gordon's grave is also silent. Harvey walks slightly ahead of her, leading the way he has unfortunately walked so many times before, while Donna keeps her palm between his shoulder blades, reminding him that this time, he's not alone.
Harvey abruptly stops at his father's grave and nearly crashes into Donna, but she doesn't say anything. She simply takes a breath and stands beside him, wrapping her hands around his arm.
"Hey, Dad…" he says, already fighting back tears. "How have you been?" he sniffs and feels Donna give his arm an affectionate squeeze. He takes a few seconds in silence to catch his breath, and with Donna by his side, for the first time, he feels supported by someone in that sad place. "Did you see who I came with, Dad?" he says, a tiny smile tugging at his lips, and Donna can't help but give him a loving kiss on the cheek. "I know you'll be happy to know that I'm finally with Donna. In fact, we're married. She's wearing Grandma's ring. But I guess you always knew it belonged to her," he says in a choked voice that breaks Donna's heart.
"Hey, Gordon…" Donna says warmly, trying to keep her own anguish from surfacing. "You see? I've finally gotten your son to get his head out of his own ass." She says and enjoys seeing Harvey giggle. "I know how much faith you had in him, even when he was a mess." He chuckles again. "And you were right. We were right." She adds and slides her right hand down Harvey's arm until her fingers intertwine with his. "He's everything I could have imagined and more. I'm sure you're very proud of him." She adds and just when Harvey thought he was managing his tears better, he breaks down even more. "And you shouldn't worry. I promise I'll take care of him like I always have." She adds and pulls her husband close, giving him a safe place in her arms to cry. "I'll always take care of him." She murmurs in his ear, enveloping him with all the love she has to give him.
