Enjoy this. I haven't even wrote it yet and I can already sense the depression.
A peacekeeper led me and my mother into the building, and then opened the door to the room Katniss was in, saying, "You have three minutes." Katniss was leaning against the window sill, shaking, a thousand thoughts running through her head. I ran in, my cheeks rosy and my eyes teary. I hugged Katniss as hard as I could. "It's okay." She said, hugging around my head. "Shh. Prim, Prim. It's okay. Prim, I don't have much time." She assured me, and then knelt down in front of me. "Prim, listen. You're gonna be okay. Don't take any extra food from them. It isn't worth putting your name in more times, okay? Listen, Prim, Gale will bring you game. You can sell cheese from your goat." She advised. I was nodding and sobbing the whole time. "Just try to win, maybe you can." I choked out. "Of course. And maybe I can, I am smart, you know?" She said, looking down. "And you can hunt." I added. "Exactly." She said, lifting her head a bit. I reached in my skirt pocket, and pulled out the Mockingjay pin. "To protect you." I said, my voice croaky from crying, and handed the golden pin to her. "Thank you." She said, looking at me with sorrow. She hugged me, and then looked up at our mother. She then got up, walking over to her.
...
"You can't tune out again." She told our mother sternly. "I won't." She said. "No, you can't. Not like when dad died. I won't be there anymore. You're all she has. No matter what you feel, you have to be there for her. Do you understand?" She said, almost a growl. Our mother nodded, tears forming in her eyes. "Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't. Don't." Katniss said, pulling her into a hug. The peacekeeper opened the door, "It's time." I jumped up, hanging onto Katniss for dear life. "Prim, it's okay." She said. "Prim, it's okay. It's okay, Prim." She said, hugging me. The peacekeeper started to grab me, and I screamed, "No! No! No!" fighting to keep a hold of my sister. The peacekeeper grabbed me and my mother, me and Katniss's hands together, as we quickly slipped from eachother's touch. "I promise, Prim." I heard her say, and the other peacekeeper shut the door.
...
I saw Gale pass us in the building. Katniss started to open the door, then shut it, and Gale opened the door, immediately pulling Katniss into a hug. "I'm fine." She said, adrenaline running through her veins. "Yeah, I know." Gale quietly said. "I am." She added. Gale pulled out of the hug. "Listen to me. You're stronger than they are. You are. Get to a bow." He said. "They may not have..." she began. "They will if you show them how good you are." He told. "They just want a good show. That's all they want." he said, trying to encourage her. She nodded, shakily. "If they don't have a bow, then you make one. You know how to hunt." He said. "Animals..." she said with doubt. "It's no different, Katniss." He said shortly. "There's twenty-four of us, Gale. Only one comes out." She said, silently panicking. "Yeah, and it's gonna be you." He said, putting his hand on her neck, reassuring her.
I'll do chapter 4 tomorrow, hope you guys liked this! I wish it could've been a little more deep but oh well. I didn't have much time to write this.
