Classroom of the Elite (Specialized Version)

I have not published a new story for a long time and just this month, I saw the anime. Yes you all know already because the name is on the story title and I saw the 2 seasons of it. Come to think of it, I sort of was impressed with the plot and progress in the anime so why not I write my own version?

And guess what? This version of mine will be almost as similar as in the anime but the difference is I'm gonna add new content, new dialogues and some extra scenes in the entire story! With a bit of editing and cut content because I never read the manga so I don't know much so yes, the entire story is based on the anime, not the manga and it's volumes.

Also, there will be ships in this one but I can only give you hints throughout the story and character's POV will be in italics. (And it can be any character besides the main protagonist. I think...)

Right, COTE belongs to Shogo Kinugasa. That's all and enjoy!

Season 1, Episode 1

It begins at a bus station in Japan. A bus had just arrived halting before 2 people as the doors opened. They got inside as the passengers mostly consist of students especially a certain one seated and waiting. He's a tall, handsome young man with brown hair, brown eyes, and a fair complexion. His name? Kiyotaka Ayanokouji.

This might be sudden, but I'd like you to think about this: Are human beings truly equal? Modern society would always demand the need for equality. As a great man once said, "Heaven does not create one person above or below another." However, it does not end there. It actually says we're equal at birth, but then gaps start to appear as the result of one's academic effort or lack thereof. At any rate, humans are such creatures capable of thinking for themselves. Equality may be a false concept, but our inequality remains a difficult thing to accept.

Once everyone boarded, the bus drove off and unfortunately, one student missed it. How disappointing. Now inside, Ayanokouji waited when, "Excuse me...could you give up your seat?" He shift his gaze at a teenage girl with short beige hair speaking to a well-built young man of above average height with straight shoulder-length blonde hair and brown eyes and seated on, "That's a priority seat. I think you should let this elderly lady sit there." The girl told him and indeed there's an elderly lady beside her and she has a walking cane.

"My, my, pretty girl. While it may be a priority seat, I have no obligation to relinquish it. You want me to give up my seat just because I am young?" The young man asked as he chuckled and continued on. "Nonsense truly. Even if I am young, standing consumes more stamina than sitting. Why should I do something so detrimental with no benefit to myself?" Was he asking a question? Likely because, "I think you'll be contributing to society. And this lady seems to be having trouble staying upright..." The girl replied as the elderly lady just watched and listened at their conversation.

"I have no interest in contributing to society." The young man replied as he posed with his left hand adjusting one of his hair fringes. "Besides, what about those sitting on regular seats? The difference between priority and regular seats seems rather trivial to me." That really struck some people on their hearts. Regardless, the elderly lady thanked the girl and assured that she's fine but still, "Excuse me! Would any of you be willing to give up your seat?" The girl asked the passengers as some appeared to be too restricted in their actions while Kiyotaka shifted his gaze at a teenage girl reading a book. And then, a young woman around her 30s offered her seat to the elderly lady and was thanked by the girl.

A while later, the bus arrived and stopped at a bus station. The doors opened and those students alighted including Ayanokouji as he set his sight at the school. "So I'll be attending school here huh?" He thought as a couple of students are already entering the school via the front entrance.

Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School. A school built by the Japanese Government to nurture young people who will support the country in the future. It boasts a hundred percent employment and college entry rate and with absolute state-directed teaching methods, it gives it's best in pursuing the nation's desired future.

Just then, "Hey." Ayanokouji stopped looking and it appears that the girl he looked at in the bus just now called out to him. She has long black hair with one braid tied with a white bow as well as gradient red eyes. Plus, she somewhat has a stern look. "You were looking at me on the bus. Why's that?" She asked.

There was silence as the wind blows and the 2 of them are staring at each until, "Oh. My bad. I thought you didn't seem interested in giving up your seat like me." Kiyotaka answered. "You hate getting involved in stuff like that too huh?"

"Don't assume that we're the same." The girl replied first and foremost. "I didn't give up my seat due to my conviction." She added answering him. "Uh doesn't that you even worse than me?" He thought as, "If that's all, then I'm off. The entrance ceremony will begin soon." The girl then made her move as Ayanokouji watched and after that, he too entered the school. High school life begins here and now.

Inside the High School...

The entrance ceremony is in progress and it took place inside a covered court. Right now, the student council president named, Manabu Horikita welcomed the freshmen and began his speech. During the speech, the students of Classes 1-A, 1-B, 1-C and 1-D listened though 2 students from the D class were nearly feeling like they want to doze off as Ayanokouji took a glance at the fact that the same girl he met is in his class and likewise, the other 2 students he encountered on the bus regarding the seats and the elderly lady.

It now cuts to the 1-D classroom as inside, boys and girls are mingling and bonding in ways that they get to know each other through many interests. There are some that are seated and waiting for the homeroom period to begin.

For Ayanokouji, he's seated at the bottom corner on the left by the window and he took notice that the girl is seated beside him reading a book. "What an unpleasant coincidence." The girl spoke first while reading. "The same goes for me." He spoke next in agreement when, "Everyone, may I have your attention please?" All looked up to a teenage boy who has blonde hair and greenish-brown eyes and he's already making the first move of leadership. "I was hoping we could all introduce ourselves to get better acquainted early on the first day. Besides, the teacher doesn't seem to be here yet as well. What do you think?"

Many agreed to this and with that, he went first. "I'm Hirata Yosuke. Just call me Yosuke. My hobby is all kinds of sports and I intend to join the soccer club at this school. Nice to meet you all!"

Everyone cheered for him as, "I bet he'll end up being the center of the class." Ayanokouji thought when the girl he noticed at the bus made her move. "I'll go next! My name is Kushida Kikyo. My goal is to become friends with each and every one of you! I wish to make lots of good memories so don't hesitate me to invite me anywhere!" She then took a bow with lots of boys cheering for her. "I bet she'll be popular with both guys and girls and she's already giving that "I can be friends with anyone" aura. But I guess this is no time to be critical." Ayanokouji thought as his golden brown eyes observed and analyzed the surroundings and once done, he closed his eyes in deep thought.

These introductions will determine everyone's standing in the class. Should I try being a joker? Maybe I could do that if I were really energetic...or maybe I'd just creep everyone out. It's not like I have any hobbies or talents anyway. I'm just a white bird flying freely without anything.

During that, many students did their introductions until, "Next up...you!" It appears Yosuke has marked him for the introduction. "Huh? Me?" Ayanokouji did not expect this but Yosuke smiled expecting his introduction so having no choice and with a thought, "Fine then, I'd better muster up the energy to introduce myself. For the sake of my school life." So he stood and did his introduction with his poker face and monotone voice. It appears he was unable to process much on his intro but after that, he got a decent applause from the class especially from Yosuke and also, the girl beside him smirked in amusement. Once done, Yosuke was about to continue on with the intros when a male student with red hair and a hot temper placed his right foot on his desk with force and, "What's with the introductions? What are we, little kids or something?! Do it with someone who'll listen to that piece of shit!"

And then, "Everyone on your seats." The teacher has arrived and she's a female with a serious expression on her face as the whole class sat down. She placed a stack of books on her table and began homeroom class. "I'm the homeroom teacher for Class 1-D, Chabarisha Sae and I will be with you all for the next 3 years until your graduation." She then showed everyone a book. "First, I'll hand out the school rule book. Take one and pass it back." The students obeyed as those at the front took one and passed the rest to their classmate seated behind them. Once everyone has received the rule book, "We have special rules at this school. First, you will live in dorms and while in school, your ability to leave campus and contact the outside world will be limited. But fear not, this school has a variety is facilities lined up. All your daily needs can be found here including entertainment." The teacher then took out her handphone which is the one the school issues to the students and teaching staff. "To buy things, you will use points stored in the school's official computer system in your handphones. You can buy anything using points and they are allocated on the first day of each month. One point equals one yen and you have been allotted 100,000 points for this month."

"100,000?!"

"Majikayo?!" (Meaning, for real)

"Woah that's a lot!"

"Amazing!"

Everyone had shocked reactions on the point allocation except for Ayanokouji who checked his system to see his point allotment without any comment. "Surprised by the size of your allotment? This school judges students based on their proficiency. You have already received significant value just for being admitted here." And with that, homeroom class is over.

It now cuts to a convenience store called, Fairy Mart 7 as inside, Ayanokouji just made his purchase on some snacks, a few drinks and some necessities(Like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, other toiletries, etc)as he placed his phone on the scanner and it's complete. "It really does work like money." He noticed as his balance is currently 99,220 points.

25 students per class and 4 classes per grade, there's 300 students in total. If each student gets 100,000 points per month, that's 360 million per year. A bit sketchy even if it's government-funded...

He then turned to his right and to his unexpected surprise, the very same girl is also in the store and she too noticed him. "Another unpleasant coincidence." She began. "You don't have to be that cautious." He replied as she looked away. And then, "Well since we sit next to each other, we should at least get along." He began a new conversation as he asked for her name. She said nothing at first but still, "You can at least tell me that can't you?" He asked. "Would it bother you if I refuse to answer?" She asked first. "No but it doesn't suit me right to not know the name of the person sitting next to me." He replied and it actually makes sense because the girl sighed to herself, looked at him with eye contact and, "I'm Horikita Suzune."

"Horikita? Sounds like the president's-" But he was cut off as she resumed her shopping while he just stood there in observation mode. "You know, you don't seem very good at interacting with people. You're a bad talker if you ask me." Horikita stated. "That might be true but you don't seem much better either." He replied. "Yes. However, I don't sense the necessity to make friends in the first place." She replied back when her eyes caught something unusual. "Free?" She's referring to some basic necessities under the 'free' section. "I guess it's to help people who over-spend their points?" Ayanokouji guessed. "Even though there's already 100,000 points issued to us this month? This school is quite indulgent." Horikita stated when a heated commotion drew their attention.

Outside, the red-haired student from their class is seen confronting 3 other students.

"You're in Class 1-D aren't you?" The first one asked.

"And what if I am?"

"Now, now, now that's no way to talk to your senpais." The second one spoke up proudly.

"SHUT UP! I don't care if you're my senpais! You wanna fight or not? I'll take all 3 of you!"

"Heh. Since it's your first day, we'll overlook this." The second senpai stated as he and his peers took their leave. "After all, you and your classmates are already defective products. The real hell has yet to come for you people." The third senpai added as they left and by then, Ayanokouji just exit the store as the red-haired student out of loose anger turned to kick some recycling bin but was stopped by him.

"I won't do that if I were you."

"HA? And why the hell should I not do it?!" He asked when Ayanokouji pointed above, a security camera. Seeing this cooled him down. "Fine...I guess I should thank you for that. Sudou Ken's the name. And you're Ayanokouji Kiyotaka right?"

He nodded and, "Sudou, have you spent your points?"

"Well I didn't even start yet!"

"Good. Let me give you a piece of advice. Spend only when it's necessary." He then took his leave leaving Sudou most surprised.

The next day...

"It wasn't long before groups began to form within the class." Ayanokouji thought as right now, lunch break is on and Wang Mei-Yu aka Mii-chan invited Kikyou to lunch but she replied that she has some things to do while behind them, Hideo Sotomura is showing Kanji Ike and Haruki Yamauchi a tablet with a protective casing stating that it costs 80,000 points and he wasn't worried since every month it's expected that everyone will get 100,000 points. Excited, Ike revealed that he bought a ton of mobile games and a blue portable game console as he took it out and showed it his peers. At the same time, Kei Karuizawa, Chiaki Matsushita and Maya Satou chat about fashion stuff like some trendy clothes and accessories in which they plan to do some shopping after school.

"I failed at making friends...even though I had a small interaction with Sudou..." He thought while looking straight aimlessly. "You're pitiful." Horikita told him. "And you're alone." He replied back. "Yes. Because I like to be alone." She then ate her lunch which is a triangular cheese sandwich with a juice bottle. This made him hungry so he decided to go to the cafeteria straight away.

But once he stepped out of the classroom, "Ano...you're Ayanokouji right?" He looked to his left to see Kikyo as she shyly asked him. "Um...you're Kushida right?" He asked. She beamed in happiness that he remembered her name and then, "Um...can we talk?"

The talk between the 2 of them is about Kikyo wanting to be friends with Horikita but was turned down so she sought Ayanokouji for his help because he's the only person Horikita talks to.

But now it's not the time for friendships and stuff, Japanese History class is ongoing and Chabashira-sensei is in the midst of the teaching. While most of the class is active and attentive, some are not apparently. Sudou was too tired of this crap that he napped with some drool on his desk, Karuizawa is secretly texting her friends with her phone under her desk, Yamauchi is reading some manga in his tablet and Ike is gaming with his console under his desk in class. The bell then rang and she advised the class to review the lesson by themselves as she took her leave.

After school...

"This school really is indulgent. First, the allotment of the massive amount of private points and now, students play around and nap in class but the teacher never calls them out. Is this really an advanced school run by the government?" Horikita asked. "Maybe they want to encourage student autonomy, I think." Ayanokouji replied. "Perhaps..." She really as the 2 students got ready to leave the classroom.

"Hey...if you're going home, would you come with me?" Ayanokouji asked. Upon hearing that, "What are you after?" A surprised Horikita asked with suspicion. "Does an invitation from me suggest an ulterior motive?" He asked. "If you tell me specifically what you want, I'd be willing to hear you out." She replied trusting him slowly. "You know that cafe in the mall right?" He began. "The one where lots of girls hang out. Would you go there with me?"

"Why me?" Horikita asked while staring at him. "I'm not brave enough to get there myself. It has this 'no boys allowed' feel there, right?" He replied. "Can't you just ask someone else?" She asked but sighed a bit. "Well I suppose not since we're the only ones left..."

"That might be a painful truth, but it's a truth anyway." He stated as she stared at him.

Keyaki Mall...

It sure is a large mall and indeed, there are various facilities to meet the needs of the students especially entertainment like the clothing stores, eating places, karaoke, gaming, electronics, movies, sports arenas, etc.

At the cafe that Ayanokouji mentioned, there are a lot of hot girls hanging out including Mii-chan and her friend and classmate of 1-D, Kokoro Inogashira and speaking of which, he and Horikita just arrived. "It's quite crowded." She described. "Is this your first time too?" He asked and, "Ah, right. You're a loner."

"Are you mocking me? How childish." She exclaimed not caring what he stated when, "Ah! That's table's free!" And it cuts to it where 2 of their classmates, Nene Mori and Kayano Onodera just got their coffee and left immediately. With that, they took the table and got their coffee. "You know, I wonder if we look like a couple to the oth-" Ah nope. She's glaring at him over what's he about to say so he stopped. "Thinking of what's about to happen is making my stomach hurt." He thought and noticed that Kayano and Mori didn't leave. They sat beside them instead when, "Horikita-san!" Out of nowhere, Kikyo showed up and sat with them. As chatting began, "I'm leaving."

"Hoi we only just got here." Ayanokouji stated. "Since Kushida-san is here, you won't need me anymore, would you?" Horikita asked. "Well...Kushida and I are just classmates." He replied. "The same goes for our case." She replied back with her eyes closed and with a suspicious face, she turned to Kikyo. "I don't like this. What are you after?" She asked. "C-Come on...it was just a coincidence..." Kikyo replied nervously.

"Kushida, you should have said, "What's that suppose to mean?" Ayanokouji thought and furthermore, "The girls seated near and around us are all from our class. A coincidence?" Horikita brought up. "I'm impressed you recognize them. I didn't even notice or recognize them." He replied. "We came here right after class ended, which means they could have been in this cafe for a few minutes. It's too soon for them to be leaving." Horikita has completed her analysis on the situation and as a result, Ayanokouji revealed that they set her up and in an act of desperation, Kikyo asked her again to be her friend but she refused eve preferring to be alone as she always was for 9 years. She then left taking the cup of coffee with her at least.

After that, "If I can't even make friends with my own classmates, I guess my goal is still far away." Kikyo told Ayanokouji as they left the cafe. "I think Horikita is an exception." He thought when, "Oh it's Ichinose Honami from Class 1-B!" Kikyo noticed as in front of them is a very attractive and alluring girl talking to her classmate named Chihiro Shiranami. "We became friends yesterday." She added when they saw them.

"!?"

"What the..." Ayanokouji appeared to have felt something. His heartbeat went fast, his eyes widen and his body temperature rose. He watched as the girls greeted each other but somehow, his eyes appeared to have set it's focus on the girl. Her hair is pink like the strawberries which travels down to her waist or hip and her purple eyes are so entrancing that, "Ayanokouji-kun?" (Oh right. In the anime, her eyes are purple while in the manga and light novels, her eyes are blue. Right?)

"Huh?"

"You okay? You look like you were looking at Ichinose walk by us all the way."

"No it's nothing Kushida-san. Uh anyway, you're even friends with students from other classes?"

"Yeah! There are a lot of nice people in Class B."

Interesting fact as the 2 classmates walked back to the dorms and along the way, "This school is pretty amazing right? There are so many restaurants, shops and other creature comforts and we get 100,000 points each month." Kikyo stated. "That amount seems a bit too much for me though." Ayanokouji stated in his own opinion. "You think so too? And calling them points makes me spend them without thinking beforehand. It really messes my money management." Kikyo can see that but it was at that moment that Ayanokouji' recalled the free items in the convenience store he saw yesterday as Kikyo continued chatting about money management.

Later on...

At his dorm, Ayanokouji placed his bag on the chair and sat on his bed with new thoughts. "I wonder...what is it that I felt just now..." He thought as his mind pictured the alluring and attractive Honami. "Is it fate? Or is it destiny? What if it's both or none of the above. Is there anything that has to do between the 2 of us?" He pondered a bit but, "Never mind, I'll find the answers another time. But another pressing concern." He took out his phone and checked his point balance. "100,000 per month huh?"

Most students decided to make the most of their school lives without thinking deeply about anything. Day after day, they belw through their monthly allowance like it was nothing. No big deal in another description. In class, the teacher was very lenient so in-class conversations, napping, tardiness, distractions and absences became a daily occurrence. Extravagance, debauchery, indolence and ignorance were rampant.

So true as multiple scenes reveal what the 1-D students have been living their school life via flashbacks. Ike and Yamauchi bought more video games, Karuizawa, Chiaki and Satou shopped for clothes and during Japanese history, chatting and napping occurred from several students as Ayanokouji observed.

And then, May 1st has arrived...

So exactly on that day...

"Huh what's going on?"

"How strange..."

"This ain't right at all..."

Concerned and random comments and, "You too?" Ike asked Yamauchi for their current points are 42 and 28 respectively. Behind them, "Damn...if I never took his advice, I might be a goner!" Sudou thought as he looked at Ayanokouji and he checked his points which sums up to 23,115.

"How come?" Karuizawa asked Shinohara as their balance are 2389 and 19,757 points respectively. As for Ayanokouji, he still has a lot of points which are 82,235 when, "On your seats. Morning homeroom is about to begin." The teacher has arrived as she placed a rolled up sheet on her desk.

"Sensei! We didn't get our points!" Yamauchi brought up. "We're suppose to get them on the first day of the month right?"

"Yeah! There wasn't any change at our system!"

"Is it a technical error or a glitch?"

"Come on now! Where's the points!"

More comments one after another but, "No, this month's points have already been allocated. That is certain." Chabashira-sensei told the class leaving some of them confused and surprised. "There is no chance that this class has been overlooked either." She added.

"But we didn't get any points!" Ike protested as some of the students started voicing out their discontent about it when suddenly, the teacher who had a serious face smiled sinisterly. "What a bunch of idiots you all are."

The whole class was stunned upon hearing this as, "A total of 98 cases of tardiness and absences, 391 cases of talking and handphone usages in class. That's a lot of deed for a mere month." Chabashira-sensei listed out and it sure is a lot of cases. "In this school, your grades and performance evaluations are reflected in the monthly points you're given. My assessment of you, has resulted in the loss of all 100,000 points you were to be given. Therefore, the points you're receiving for this month...

...

...

...

...

...

"Are zero."

Those that blew off a lot of points were too shocked to hear this statement. On the other hand, Horikita was taking down notes while Ayanokouji observed her carefully.

"Did you really think that you, a mere high school student were to be given 100,000 points a month to spend without being bound? That's absurd and ridiculous! At least use your common sense!"

That annoyed Sudou as his anger started twitching despite the fact that he had saved decent amount of points while Yosuke and Kikyo looked worried

"If you had your doubts, why didn't you do anything about them?" She asked and finalized her statement. "I told you before on the first day didn't I? That this school judges students based on their proficiency. Thanks to your actions, you're all worth nothing...

...

...

...

...

...

"But garbage."

Silence is the only thing filling the homeroom as the entire class 1-D can only remain silent throughout the homeroom period over their teacher's statement. This is just the beginning of what's to expect from this high school...

And that's the first chapter and episode of this story! As you can see, the changes are applied. And the dialogue is mostly from the subtitles in the anime though I extended some of them and added more in some scenes of this chapter. If you have anything regarding the chapter, feel free to review it. I'm also open to suggestions and ideas on how I can make the story more specialized. And yes I tend to mix around on how the characters are addressed especially the students. Some from their first name and others from their surname. FYI, I have my own preference for this.

It's a good thing the Youtube Channel, Muse Asia has the season 1 episodes which I watch sometimes for the ideas and once I do them all, I'm move to season 2 and wait for season 3 for it is expected to air next year. Alright then, I gotta work on the next one. And a bonus list below for fun and reference.
