2025: in October the Second American Civil War begin, most major cities and coastal areas join in open rebellion against the government after an extremely controversial constitutional amendment is passed by Congress. The military is split with 1/3 of the Navy and Air Force joining the rebel factions along side 1/5 of the national Guard. But the supermajority of the army and Marine Corp align with the government. After the war begins the night of the blue reaper takes place, seeing the death of 80% of high-level government officials by the rebels, leaving control of the government mostly in the hands of the military.
2026: although the rebel factions combined control 45% of the population and 62% of the industry, they are separated into several significant pockets mostly containing individual cities entirely surrounded. By the end of 2025 no significant rebel strongholds reman further than 100 km from the coast. The battle of Las Vegas is the most significant battle of the year, with 30,000 rebel militia men and National Guard troopers supported by 2000 paratroopers fighting against 42,000 Nevada National Guard troopers and 8000 Army soldiers. The battle concludes with the defeat of the rebels and the destruction of the Las Vegas enclave. With the withdrawal of most support to its allies by the United States, China decides to push for the conquest of a significant portion of Asia.
2027: The Battle of Chesapeake Bay takes place with 200 30- ton fast attack craft destroying the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Essex, and USS George Washington alongside seven cruisers , 12 destroyers and five frigates. This leaves an opening for the USS Gerald R Ford , USS Theodore Roosevelt, and 22 other military ships to escape into the Atlantic. To combat China's aggression Japan, India, Australia,South Korea, and 15 other nations create the Pacific union and combine all of their militaries into one singular organization. The formation of the Pacific union and the near collapse of China's economy with the removal of the American market allows for China to be contained for now.
2028: The battle of San Diego becomes the deadliest battle in American history. Over 400,000 Marine, National guard, and Army personnel fight against 60,000 California guardsmen and half a million militiamen. The battle turns to tragedy when a loading mishap causes a 1 Mt nuclear bomb to be dropped on the city killing 1.5 million people. This leads to a limited nuclear exchange causing 12 million deaths and the destruction of 21 cities including Annapolis, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Richmond. Shock is felt around the world and nearly 1% of the collective budgets of every government is spent on developing and implementing nuclear defense technology's over the next decade. The escaped Maryland rebel fleet is chased around the Caribbean until it is caught and destroyed in the battle of Cuba, which becomes the largest naval battle since World War II with over 100 military vessels fighting and 40 not making it out.
2029: In March the California enclave is captured destroying the final continental enclave. six months later the Hawaii enclave falls alongside the final 2 rebel aircraft carriers. Leaving the United States under a military dictatorship with army general John Johnson as the president.
2032: North Korea attacks South Korea and begins an attempt to conquer the entire peninsula. The Pacific Union sends in military force to support its member nation leading to North Korea being pushed back to the Chinese border. As Pacific Union forces get near the Chinese border the People's liberation Army attacks, in response the Pacific union then declares war against the Peoples Republic of China. Under the stress of the war the United Nations dissolves. The Russian federation attempts to invade the European Union with any possible, foreign support occupied. World War III has begun. Both the European Union and the Pacific Union choose to cooperate as the Russian federation and People's Republic of China choose to do the same, while the United States recovers from the 2nd American Civil War.
2033: The second battle of Tsushima takes place with the Chinese carriers 02, 03, and 04 alongside 30 escorts guarding 20 transports that are going to attempt a landing on the Japanese home islands. They are intercepted by the HMS Queen Elizabeth, PUS Sydney, and PUS Tokyo Supported by eight destroyers, 12 Frigates, and five helicopter destroyers. The battle ends in a tactical defeat for the UK and Pacific Union with the Queen Elizabeth and Tokyo destroyed alongside nine other ships, but a strategic defeat for the Chinese with 17 of the 20 transports destroyed along side the 03 ,making the invasion unfeasible and destroying the best Chinese equipment and personnel. The United States begins construction of four Texas class super carriers with a displacement of 150,000 tons, naming them Texas, Kentucky, Utah, and Nevada. The Russian federation is pushed back and loses a significant amount of its territory including Moscow. A famous photo is produced with a Ukrainian army sergeant raising a European Union flag over the Kremlin.
2034: The African union and United States joins the war on the side of the European and Pacific union.
2036: The Third World war ends with Russia defeated and China having a revolution leading to the Peoples Republic of China being removed and the Chinese Federation taking its place.
2040: The United States becomes a democracy again with the death of John Johnson to diabetes.
2042: The Pacific Union becomes a government instead of a military alliance with the creation of the union parliament.
2045: the second space race begins on the 100th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, when Jacqueline O'Neill of the European Union becoming the first human in space since the beginning of World War III.
2047: The first permanent settlement is created on the moon by the United States. Armstrong outpost is primarily concerned with mining and production of materials for space habitats. It is the first human settlement powered entirely by renewables with large mirrors focusing sunlight onto solar panels at the settlement. By the end of the decade all the major powers have moon bases
2049: The Pacific Union begins construction of a L5 space station named new Tokyo . Its main features are a 250 m diameter by 1200 m long habitat drum capable of holding 50,000 people, a large nuclear fission reactor , and the first Space space based shipyard.
2057: The first fusion reactor is created capable of effective power generation. Within the first year 112 plants are planned for construction across the entire planet. Plans for space based reactors have already begun. New Tokyo is completed.
2058: Plans for the international interplanetary transport station have been approved and construction begins. It is designed to use multi kilometer diameter mirrors to focus light from the sun and use it to propel spaceships across interplanetary distances.
2070: IITS Finishes construction and launches the first wave of colony ships across the system. Of the 20 100 m vessels each containing 1000 colonists and the supplies to construct a colony 8 go to Mars, Seven go to Jupiter, 2 go to Venus , One goes to Saturn, and 2 goes to mercury. Five we're planned for different locations, but unexpected increases in costs for other areas caused them to be discontinued.
2100: Over 5 million people live in orbit, and a quarter million across the solar system. In an attempt to create an interstellar civilization a ship containing 100,000 people is sent at 10% The speed of light to Proxima Centauri.
2111: Third American Civil War begins and ends. It is the shortest and the least damaging of the Civil War's.
2157: cult leader says that humanity will discover, alien ruins in this year. When by the end of the year no alien ruins show up, she is called a liar and publicly hung by her follows. (thus ends the life of the pregnant Hannah shepherd [no shepherd in this fanfic])
2160: The colonists in Proxima Centauri make contact with sol. It is discover that there is a prosperous colony on Proxima 2 which the colonists named Foothold. Both systems stay connected, trading communications at the speed of light. Proxima Centauri has three planets and two astroid belts.
2205: The first Jovian war begins with the secession from their mother countries of several United States and European union colonies around Jupiter. The United States and European union attempted to reclaim their rebellious colonies and protect their remaining loyal ones. Their main opponents were the Galilean liberation legion and the Io harmony.
2211: After many years, the war ended in a stalemate with no side capable of defeating the others. The Jovian powers not having the industrial or manpower capabilities to take the remaining loyalist strongholds, while the United States and European Union not capable of transporting sufficient forces to Jupiter to retake their colonies. The war ended in a truce with no one happy.
2221: Believing that they had gained the capability to defeat the other factions, the Galilean liberation legion conducted a surprise attack on the United States and European union forces around Jupiter, leading to their destruction. The Legion attempted to conquer all of the loyalist colonies before the US or EU could send reinforcements, but in exchange for recognition of the former EU colony as an independent nation, and the gifting of a large amount of materials, the Io harmony used its forces to slow down the legions advance until reinforcements could arrive. During the battle of Europa, when new Philadelphia was just about to fall, the joint US/EU fleet arrived to relieve the defending forces. With the combined power of all three factions, they were able to conquer the legions territory until it was forced to make it last stand on its capital of Nova Britannia on Ganymede. After its final defeat in the fifth battle of Ganymede, the legion was dissolved, and the colonies besides Io were returned to their original owners.
2234: A corporation in new Pittsburgh (colony on mercury) attempts to obtain a cheap source of hydrogen and helium three by scooping it out of the sun, the tests are a success and by the end of the century, Hyperion goes from a obscure company to one of the largest in human space, and new Pittsburgh, from a mining backwater to the central distribution hub of fusion reactor fuel for Mercury, Venus, Luna, and earth.
2244: Foothold begins colonization of Alpha Centauri, they discover a garden world orbiting Alpha Centauri A, alongside 2 other planets orbiting A, and four planets orbiting B, for a total of seven planets, and two astroid belts orbiting the twin stars.
2250: More interstellar colonization is attempted, with the sol system sending colony ships to Barnard star, and alpha Centauri (officially named the Centauri Republic alongside the other colonies in the Alpha Centauri system) sending colony ships to EZ Aquarii.
2294: the jump zero project is created as a international program in an attempt to create a form of faster than light travel.
2302:The augmentation revolution begins, humans begin to receive multiple genetic, biomechanical, and cybernetic enhancements throughout earth and the colonies. The fourth American Civil War begins over of whether they should join the rest of humanity in this revolution, or should reject these augmentations. With still existing vocal minorities in their societies fighting against the changes, the other nations decide not to get involved.
2307: fourth American Civil War ends with the augmentation side winning.
2314:Turians begin colonization of the Xìngyùn cluster. It is a backwater territory with no FTL coms into Council space
2315: Multiple faster than light technology designs have been tested, and one has proved to be viable. A test ship with the Alcubierre drive is launched and tested, but it is discovered that extreme percentages and surpassing of C using this technology is extremely damaging to Spacetime, leaving the ship unable to surpass 70% the speed of light. Nonetheless, multiple drives are ordered and the plans are shared to the colonies via lightspeed communication.
2318: The third wave of interstellar colonization begins when multiple warp colony ships are sent out to systems nearby. Epsilon Eridani, Alpha Canis Majoris, Alpha Canis Minoris, Wolf 359, Groombridge 34, Tau Ceti, and 61 Cygni are colonized in this wave, later to become known as the inner colonies.
2343: prothean ruins are discovered on Mars Introducing humanity Element zero.
2344: Out of fear of first contact all the super powers create the systems alliance to become the primary military defense of humanity, and let all of their militaries be subsumed by it.
2345: first, FTL equipped ships finish construction. their first objective is to make contact with the Centauri Republic, Barnard Federation, and People's Republic of EZ Aquarii. After multi-day trips they are able to make contact with the colonys in real time instead of reports every few years. All 3 systems are inducted as the first systems besides sol in the Systems Alliance, the inner colonies follow them. Multiple other systems in the local cluster are colonized.
2346: element zero is discovered in the Goliath system, causing an element zero rush. The clusters infrastructure won't catch up to it's important for many years.
2352:The mass relay is discovered and is found to be a secondary relay connecting to half a dozen other secondary relays including the hub system Arcturus. Two primary relays are discovered in the Arcturus system each leading to the closest super clusters to the Orion vault (fictional name for the secondary relay system that the sol System is a part of), The Olympus supercluster (relay directly connecting to the exodus cluster) , and the Orion frontier [My own creation, not canon])
2353: Humanity begins expansion into the relay Network, with each system scouted, cataloged, and prepped for colonists meticulously. The Systems Alliance begins construction of its first purpose built Element zero ships for military purposes. Plans for the San Diego class frigate, Geneva class cruisers, Danube class carriers, swordfish class light carriers, Rapid class PT boats, and Everest class dreadnoughts are put into production. All ships are equipped with the generation 3 element zero engine capable of 4 light years per day (1460 C)
2359: Humans begin colonization of the Xìngyùn cluster in the Olympus super cluster, unaware that there is a Turian presence in the cluster centered around the Goliath system which has a primary relay into Council space, but also regularly patrols several systems including the Dà Líng Er System where relay 314 resides.
2364: Starlight Exploration finds a destroyed hegemony shipwreck in the Olympus supercluster. Against Systems Alliance law, they do not report the ship to the authorities, instead studying it in hopes of gaining new technologies.
2365: The Systems Alliance completes its second Fleet, which is to reside in the arcturus system. Each fleet consists of a battle group with one dreadnought, 1 light carrier and eight frigates, Three carrier groups consisting of two carriers and eight frigates, and five cruiser groups consisting of 3 cruisers, one light carrier, and eight frigates. Creating a force of 100 warships per fleet alongside many support ships. each system has a defense force, mostly consisting of combat drones, Light carriers, PT boats, and former national and colonial military ships refit with element zero cores. The turian 32nd fleet moves into the Xìngyùn cluster to protect the colonies and patrol the systems.
2367: the Systems Alliance approves the opening of really 314 and send the ninth cruiser group to oversee the operation. The 192nd patrol flotilla of the Turian hierarchy begins it's patrol of the Dà Líng Er System Starting with relay 314. First contact occurs and it ends with humanity at war.
Author notes: this is my first attempt at a fanfiction so I hope you all enjoy the story I create. There will be some significant differences from the lore in Mass Effect so this can be considered an alternate universe. I am unsure of when I will be able to update so do not expect a consistent schedule.
