Season 2- Episode 7- Impossible
—-Hey guys! I apologize that it takes me time to update. However, it does not mean that I will stop writing! Please be patient and enjoy :D
—-Although Donatello tried to reveal the news to Leonardo as simply as he possibly could, he still felt very uncomfortable about the whole situation. He found out about his true origin story not that long ago, and he's already revealing it to his oldest brother. Donatello's hands clenched into fists as he tried to calm himself down. His gaze was directed at the floor the entire conversation as he felt shame about something about himself that he couldn't even control. What would Leo even think? If Donatello can't accept something that is literally about himself, how would Leo, a bystander, react? Leo is the leader, after all. Although they all feel the pressure of having to avoid Shredder's plans to destroy them, Leo is affected the most, given the fact that he needs to- well, be a leader. And now, not only is Leo's own little "Brother" someone that turns out to be entirely different from what he knows about him, but he is related to his biggest and most dangerous enemy.
Donatello shook his head while keeping his eyes shut, trying to get rid of his anxiety. It was already stressful as it is without him adding more reasons to worry, after all. It was too late anyways. The truth was out. Leo knows now…
Donatello frowned in thought as he suddenly realized that he didn't hear Leo say anything after he confessed the truth. His gaze lifted from the floor and landed on Leo. Donatello's eyes widened a bit in surprise as he straightened his back.
Leo stared intensely at Donatello, making it look as if his eyes were about to pop out of his head as his jaw seemed like it was just about to hit the floor. It seemed as if Leo was going over what Donatello had said in his head, as his eyes scanned over him. He was very likely trying to compare him to the Shredder, to see any possible resemblance.
"Ha!" Leo forced a laugh as he wore a feigned smile. Donatello stared at Leo in surprise. He sure didn't expect this reaction out of him.
"Good one, Don. I almost believed you." Leo said, still forcing himself to smile. However it wasn't hard to spot how he frowned a little, secretly wishing that it was indeed a joke.
Donatello sighed sadly as he composed himself.
"Leo, I'm not joking-" Donatello tried explaining, until Leo cut him off.
"Donnie, be serious. Tell me that it was a joke." Leo said with a stern face, losing his fake smile.
Donatello's gaze simply shifted to the floor again as he stayed quiet. Leo understood the meaning of this as his eyes widened once again in realization. Leo closed his eyes as he took calming breaths, trying to compose himself.
"How is that possible?" Leo asked, wearing a stern expression once again, in order to hide his shock and confusion.
Donatello, who didn't lift his gaze from the floor, simply shrugged his shoulders slightly in a motion that indicates that he, himself, doesn't know either.
Although Leo himself was struggling, he managed to understand that Donnie is having a hard time himself- which isn't really surprising. This whole story was about Donnie finding out his own true identity, after all. Leo leaned in closer to Donatello and rested his palm on his shoulder.
"Donnie… Are you okay?" Leo asked as his expression turned into one of concern. Donatello firmly shut his eyes as his lips slightly trembled. Leo's concerned expression deepened as he leaned closer to Donnie's face.
"Do you… Need to cry?" Leo asked Donnie gently. Donatello weakly shook his head to answer with a 'no' without having to speak. Donatello weakly wrapped his arms around Leo as he leaned in and rested his forehead on Leo's shoulder, trying to comfort himself.
Leonardo weakly smiled as he wrapped his arms around Donatello in return, while using one of his hands to pat Donatello's head gently.
"It's all good, bro. It will all be alright." Leo told Donnie quietly, trying to calm him down.
"...Leo?" Donnie asked in a whisper, loud enough for Leo to hear.
"Yes? What is it?" Leo asked gently.
"Will you… Still support me? Now that you know the truth about me?" Donnie asked, his arms tightening around Leo in fear of being rejected.
"Of course!" Leo answered without hesitation. "We are brothers, aren't we? It changes nothing between us." Leo said as he pulled away from the hug and straightened Donnie's posture with his hands on his shoulders, only to smile at him. Donatello weakly returned the smile as he felt a wave of relief wash over him.
"Did you think that I am that easy to get rid of?" Leo asked, smirking as he pinched Donnie's cheek. "Ow! Leo!" Donatello huffed as he swatted away Leo's hand and rubbed his cheek while pouting. "Did you really have to do that?" Donnie added in annoyance as he tried to hide how happy he actually was. A smile started to form at the corners of his mouth as he turned to face Leo. "Thanks for… You know… Helping me get this off of my chest." Donatello said as he gave Leo a small and gentle smile.
"No problem. What am I here for, after all?" Leo replied with a smile of his own.
Now, finally, for the first time in a while, Donatello felt like he wasn't actually falling apart.
