"Son, I have failed you in other ways and after what I tell you…I'm afraid you will see me as a monster." Gabriel sighed, shifting a little bit as his expression grew worried and regretful.

"You aren't a monster, dad." Adrien assured the older man, but Gabriel knew that he had done monstrous things in pursuit of his end goal. Sure, if he was able to accomplish his goal then he could have fixed everything. It was that line of thinking that kept him from dwelling too much on the after effects of the people he akumatized and the innocents that caught up in the cross fire. It was that foolish line of thinking that had him encourage that Rossi girl to manipulate people into perfect recipients of his akuma.

"I'm afraid I am son." Gabriel sighed, running his fingers through his messed up hair again making it even worse. "Adrien, what I'm about to tell you, you can't tell anyone else. While I should have told you a long time ago, I thought it was best not to drag you into the mess your mother and I made."

"Mom? What are you talking about?" Adrien asked, his face going pale as he looked so confused.

"Your mother and I discovered something wondrous before you were born, miraculous even." Gabriel started, unable to keep the slight tug from his lips at the play on words even as it also caused him a lot of grief.

"What did you find?" Adrien asked, the clear worry now showing in his eyes as Gabriel began his confession, his counting up of his sins.

"Something that granted us powers that was beyond belief. For a time, we used those powers to help people from the shadows. Nothing major, just a nudge here and there helping give someone courage or protection if they really needed it. Unknown to us, the power your mother was using was coming from something that was damaged and it started effecting her health." Gabriel explained, noticing the tightening of his son's fist and the grim expression the boy was giving.

"She isn't dead, is she?" Adrien asked, his voice thick with emotions.

"No son, she's in a magical coma. I searched and searched until I found someone who knew something about what was happening. I had a cryogenic tube installed in a secret level under the mansion for her to rest in. We can't take her to doctors as the few private ones I hired couldn't find anything physically wrong, but wanted to study her as she was emitting some kind of unknown energy. One of them even suggested invasive testing to see what it was while the rest assured me there was nothing that science could do for her." Gabriel said, his voice hitching a few times as he tried to explain to his son everything behind his motives before laying bare his worst sin. "I couldn't risk some idiot tearing your mother apart for some stupid tests that wouldn't help her and would possibly kill her."

"Why didn't you tell me before?" Adrien choked out, moving back when Gabriel tried reaching out to give him a comforting hug.

"Because, at first I wasn't sure she could be saved and I didn't want to give you false hope." Gabriel said.

"So you made me think you walked out on us?" Adrien asked, so much pain in his voice as he shook from all kinds of emotions warring within him for dominance.

"That was never my intention, son. I made it look like she was kidnapped so she wouldn't be declared dead to give me enough time to go through with my plan." Gabriel said. "The man who told me what was going on told me that there was only one way to bring your mother back. He told me of a way to make a wish that would take everything back that I did to gain the wish so we all could become a happy family again."

"A wish?" Adrien asked, clearly shocked at hearing this.

"Yes, a wish. I know it sounds absurd, but he assured me it was real and after everything your mother and I had done up to that point, I knew it had to be real. There was only one problem, the powers were inactive at the time and there was only one way to get them to come out." Gabriel sighed, "The only way to save your mother and to reset everything leading up to her getting sick was to create a threat large enough for the powers of creation and destruction to come forth to battle it."

"Your talking about the miraculous, aren't you?" Adrien asked with narrowed eyes, turning his ring back and forth in his finger.

"Yes, son, I am. I did something I swore never to do when your mother and I found the powers that brought us to this point. I became the monster I never wanted to be, but became to fix everything." Gabriel said, feeling a wetness trailing down both cheeks. He idly wondered when he started crying.

"You're Hawkmoth." Adrien asked, his voice seeming cold though his voice was shaky as his expression looked so helpless.

"Yes, son, I'm that monster." Gabriel said so softly Adrien almost couldn't hear it. "No more though, I've caused enough damage already and I'm no closer to getting the two miraculous I need to set everything right."

"If you could get both miraculous, do you really think you can fix everything?" Adrien asked, obviously unsure of everything which Gabriel couldn't fault him for.

"Son, it's pointless, I don't want to risk anymore lives for something I may never be able to get. I already caused the death of one sweet young woman, I won't risk anymore." Gabriel shuddered as he buried his face in his hands and sobbed loudly. He was shocked when he felt the arms of his son wrap around him.

"I don't know what to think father, but at least you had good intentions. Can I see mom?" Adrien asked, the boys voice cracking as Gabriel numbly nodded.

Juleka laid in her bed staring at the ceiling after seeing to her red and black roses growing in the pots around the deck of the boat. She had gotten them weeks ago to honor their everyday Ladybug hoping that she found peace in death where she couldn't in life. She couldn't help blaming herself for letting things go as far as they did as she knew Lila was lying. She was just too scared to stand up to her as the couple times she tried the glare sent her way cowed her into submission. Thankfully, Rose was the same, but neither could really get through the heads of the more fanatical of Lila's fans.

Turning over to her side she saw the autographed CD Marinette had gotten, and it wasn't one of those generic machine stamped autographs. Jagged Stone signed it personally, as well as a copy for Luka that Marinette had gotten the two after it won the award for best cover. She was a huge fan of Jagged Stone, and much like Rose's connections to her prince friend, Juleka could easily tell the tall tales were just lies. Lila didn't help any of the royal family and she sure didn't save a nonexistent pet cat for the rocker.

"Why didn't I stand up to her?" Juleka whined softly, tears forming in her eyes. She was glad that Lila was convicted of so many crimes that she was serving time in a mental institution in Italy after having a mental breakdown after being sentenced and extradited to face more charges in two other countries. She wasn't sure exactly what happened or how those things worked as that was all she really knew of that monster girl's fate.

Looking away from the CD she noticed the poster for Kitty Section that Marinette had designed and made for them. They hadn't met up as a group since then as everyone was still dealing with the pain of the knowledge that they all played a part, some more than others. Thankfully nobody really got physical with Marinette, but the was some of her classmates talked to Marinette when Lila accused the girl of something was bad in itself. Especially Alya who ignored Marinette's wishes and constantly tried to force Marinette to make up with Lila and be friends. Sure Juleka understood that Alya believed Lila to be a good person and believed that if given a chance Marinette would love the girl as well.

If only Alya would have actually acted like the reporter she claimed and checked sources, especially when told to by Marinette and the one time Rose tried to tell her, then things never would have gotten out of hand. For some reason, the majority of Lila fan's looked towards Alya for any rebuttal to the wild claims made. When Alya just lapped everything up as the gospel truth, the others followed suite. It was the blind following and stubbornness that kept Alya from admitting any of it was true when the special report aired showing Marinette jumping when that news lady tried to talk her down. Instead Marinette left behind a flash drive with enough evidence and jumping points for research that led to Lila's downfall. When Lila was arrested, Alya claimed that it couldn't be true. She claimed that there was some mistake, that Lila would never do any of that. When Alya finally realized what had happened and what she did, she crumbled. If it wasn't for Nino and her family, Juleka had no doubt Alya would have followed Marinette.

"Mom said dinner is ready, little sister!" Luka called, making the girl sit up on her bed. She debated ignoring it, but her mom would come and drag her to the table and make her eat just as she did for Luka when he first found out. Juleka couldn't help worrying about Luka's tone of voice though. She knew he was out as she checked on her plants so she couldn't help worrying that something happened while he was out. But what?
