Chapter 33
"You can tell me here or you can sit in a cell until you tell me, but you will tell me what I want to know," Fiyero gave the man a look. Chistery was standing next to the Captain, eyeballing the prisoner, whose hands were tied behind his back. He was young but still older than the Vinkun next to him. The Flying Monkey wondered why he would turn to Foster and his crew.
"What do I get?" The man had the balls to ask. Fiyero turned to his companion and gave him a smirk.
"You believe this guy?"
"He forgets that if we find someone else to squeal, they'll get the deal," Chistery chuckled. That's when they heard it. Shouting from the field followed by gunshots.
"I hope they didn't kill our next witness," Fiyero said.
"Just means our friend here was lucky," the Flying Monkey figured.
"I suppose so," the Captain turned to the man, "What's it going to be?"
"Foster has the kids and he's with Rocky. I don't know much about Rocky but Foster listens to him, so we did too," the man told them.
"Why would Foster do that? Is this Rocky a lot older than him?" Fiyero wanted to know.
"I have no idea. Rocky is maybe the same age or maybe a little older?" The man shrugged. The Captain frowned. Why would Foster abandon everything for this man?
"Why keep the kids? Why is Mrs. Farhidi dead?" Chistery demanded. The man looked at them and then looked around like he didn't want someone to overhear. Schultz was leading troops back toward the Captain with two more captives. Chistery raised an eyebrow and looked at Fiyero, who only shrugged. The prisoner leaned in as if to tell them a secret that only they could know.
"Mrs. Farhidi tried to stop Foster. Rocky killed her," the man said.
"Stop Foster from doing what?" Fiyero wanted to know.
"Foster said the only way to make the spell work was if he tied Angelica Farhidi's soul to his. I didn't understand it and it freaked me out that Rocky just… he just pulled out his sword and killed Mrs. Farhidi like he was putting his knife through soft butter. It wasn't even about trying to stop her. He just killed that poor lady," it was becoming apparent that the man might have been fine with trying to change the government but harming innocent women and children were not part of the plan.
"That explains why Rocky is running things," Chistery said.
"If he could kill Mrs. Farhidi, what would he do to anyone who opposes him?" Fiyero nodded before turning to the prisoner.
"Where were they going? Can you lead us there?" The Captain asked.
"You don't need me to take you. You know the way. Foster said he was going to Kiamo Ko," he told them. Fiyero clenched his fists and turned to Chistery.
"Get Elphaba," he told the Flying Monkey. He nodded and quickly took to the skies. They were going to need help – as much of it as they could get.
"We have a picture of this Rocky," Elphaba showed Glinda and Bayram down in the infirmary. They both looked at the artist's sketch of the man that had supposedly joined Foster's cause.
"Who?" Bayram did not recognize the face at all.
"Our prisoner called him Rocky. Supposedly that is what Foster called him," the green woman explained.
"I don't know him," Glinda admitted. The two were doing much better than they had been. Doctor Talib was reworking their muscles, making sure that they could support their own body weight. Every day, they gained more mobility and strength.
"We have a situation," Chistery announced as he came through the infirmary doors.
"That can't be good," Glinda said.
"It's not," the Flying Monkey told them.
