Author's notes: Hello! It's been a while, hasn't it? It's officially been a decade since I first published it and I always did regret not ever finishing this story. I had thought of removing this story, but that would just be doing injustice to me years ago who worked hard on it. It's been such a long time that i've gotten to the point where I had forgotten the plot I had for this story. To be honest, I didn't think i'd be uploading another chapter of this story of mine years later- or that'll be back here at all.
That was, until I discovered my old files containing that "Chapter 15" file that I never did get around of finishing.
While I've already made it official that this story has been discontinued, I feel that it would make my younger self happy to know that the chapter they once worked on actually got published after all these years. Though incomplete, it still got published. I didn't make much changes to that old document. Just made the format look more coherent, I suppose? So the writing you'll be reading onward is still my writing style from years ago.
This will be the final chapter! Please forgive me for being a terrible author! I know that all my old readers and audience have long moved on, if there is one that still reads this... I'd be impressed to see that someone still reads up ROTBTD at this day and age!
This is where i'll take my exit now. My time at fanfiction had been fun! But it's time to officially close the curtains.
To all my readers and reviewers in the past, I want to properly say: Thank you for supporting this little story of mine! And now I present to you... Chapter 15!
Merida had been looking at him strangely ever since they left the library. Is she suspicious about something? Hiccup didn't know. He prayed to the Gods that she doesn't know he's a Viking. He was hoping to tell her at the right time but he still isn't sure if it's the right thing. Telling a secret to a friend is one thing but telling a secret to a friend whose clan happens to be your tribe's enemy is a whole different level of crazy. But Merida is not an enemy- at least he hopes so. Of course he might as well tell Rapunzel and Jack as well but, still, he isn't sure about the whole idea. He glanced at the redhead, her expression still unchanging, "There's soot in my face, isn't there?"
She blinked "Huh? - Oh, yes. Right there" She pointed the area above his eyebrows
With a groan, he rubbed his face in exasperation. The next time they'll be making a potion, Jack would be the one stirring "How does it look now?" He lets her examine his face.
She giggles, shakes her head and crosses her arms, "ye made it worse." She lifts two fingers, licks it with her tongue and reaches up to Hiccup's eyebrows, wiping off the soot from the potion fiasco "Hope ye don't mind" she said, wiping to off the dirt on his face
He lets out a laugh "As long as the mark of my failure is gone, I'm good with it"
She smiled and rolled her eyes "There you go, clean and spotless"
"Thank you."
She returned the smile and once again, her eyes lingers down at the crest on his satchel he had bought along. Hiccup followed her eyes. He discreetly covered the mark with his hand "So, let's follow Rapunzel then" He started to turn.
Merida slightly shook her head "Um, yes…uh-Hiccup! Ah'm sorry but its jis' that- erm, your satchel…I think I've seen it before" she points at the crest.
Hiccup's heart almost stopped. He held every breath he could muster. She taps her chin, trying to recall any memory she had on that crest,"Where did you say you come from again?" her eyes returned to his face.
Still holding his breath, he shakes his head "I-I didn't."
With a roll of her eyes, she crossed her arms "Then where did you come from?"
"An Island."
"And where is located?"
"In the middle of the ocean."
In front of them, Rapunzel made a noise that sounded somewhere in between an giggle and a chortle "Good one, Hiccup," she said
"Hilarious." Merida said, unimpressed "Seriously, where is it located?"
Hiccup decided that she would never give up. With one last hope, he changed the subject. Nervously, he asked "So, how was your flying lessons?"
She groaned "My hands keep slipping off the handle. I asked Madame Hooch to change the broom but she says that I just think my hands are slipping every time I fly- don't change the topic"
Rapunzel looked back "It's probably because you kept sneaking into the kitchen to ea-"
"Rapunzel, HUSH!" Merida snapped and Rapunzel stifled a giggle
He laughed, "You've been sneaking into the kitchen! Wait till' Headmaster- OW!" Merida had smacked his arm.
"I'm sorry, what did you say again?"
Hiccup made a disgruntled sound "Your secret's safe with me" he smiled weakly
She smiled smugly "That's what I thought. Oh, Rapunzel told me that you're the best flyer in your class"
Rubbing his arm, he looked at Rapunzel "Oh she did, didn't she?"
Rapunzel turned to him "Well, you are!"
"I've seen you fly one time while I was heading for Herbology. Ye were amazing! Seems to me that you flew before" Merida exclaimed
Rapunzel turned to them "Come to think of it, the only species that are big enough to ride on are hippogriffs, dragons-"
"HAHAHA DRAGONS!" He exclaimed loudly "Who would be crazy enough to ride one" he nervously laughed
Merida laughed along "Yeah, they're big, scaly and downright mean"
"…uh-huh"
"Not to mention: impossible to train" Rapunzel added
"I wouldn't say impossible, impossible" he placed both hands on his hips "well…I might, you know, be able to train dragons-"
Merida laughed "Hiccup, don't hurt yourself. Although, I'd like to see Jack try. His pain might be the highlight of my day"
If only they knew "Well, you might never know"
She gave him a quick pat "Seriously, don't hurt yourself"
He raised a finger "well I might actua-"he bumped into Rapunzel "um, why'd you stop?"
"Look" Rapunzel said
They both followed her eyes into the corridor "There's nothing here" Merida said
Rapunzel groaned "That's the point! She was here!"
Merida placed a hand on her shoulder "There's always tomorrow, Punz"
Loud chimes echoed throughout the school, reminding them that it was time to go
Merida turned to them "I have to go. Daniella promised me that she would help me with my homework" she gave a quick goodbye and ran away
"We better go, Hiccup" Rapunzel turned to Him "Herbology is up next"
He nodded and they went back to where they were. He looked at the satchel, focusing on the crest.
He shook his head. What am I getting myself into?

Hiccup watched the two spitting arguments back and forth before the girl; who introduced herself as Merida; got called by a woman who is dressed in fine silk clothing. Her hair is kept on two braids and she wears a crown on her head. If he didn't know any better, he'd say that she's dressed like a queen. Merida ran to her and the woman, who Hiccup presumed as Merida's mother, fussed on Merida's dress. A man as big and burly as his dad came over the two and said something to the woman. Her eyes widened in which she turned her attention to the man and gestured at Merida. Hiccup could've sworn he heard the words 'proper' and ladylike' which, by his guess, Merida isn't in favor of. She is now crossing her arms and said something to her mother in which the woman turned her attention back to her daughter, clearly unimpressed whilst the man gave a hearty laugh.
"..Scots from the looks of it" Gobber told his father "If ah'm not mistaken…they must be from-"
"Clan DunBroch" Stoick kept his gaze at Merida's family
Gobber scratched his head with his good hand "What happened to that other king you had a treaty with?"
Stoick huffed "He wasn't a king, Gobber. He just thinks that he is one just because he's the eldest"
Gobber tinkered with his replacement hand "Whatever the case, I hope he died in a battle. That man gave me the shivers"
"May Odin curse his soul" Stoick said darkly
Hiccup came to him "May Odin curses whose soul?"
Gobber looked at Stoick and gave him a look. Stoick cleared his throat "You see, son-"
Loud metallic scratches came from Gobber's hand as he tinkered with a few bolts and pulled out a pebble from the hole in his hand "There you are ye nasty little-"He looked up and saw Stoick and Hiccup look at him.
"Uh, ye know what? I'm going to go buy some…" He slowly walked back and said the first thing that popped into his head"…pants" and he quickly walked away
Stoick shook his head at Gobber and turned back to Hiccup "Let me tell you something, son." He clasped him at the back "Long ago; before I was born, Vikings and Scots were great enemies. It was probably because a lot of other Viking ribes wanted to invade Scotland and I don't blame them. Scotland is a fine land with lots of resources and cultivated lands. My great-great-great uncle who was once a chief in Berk wanted the Hairy Hooligan Tribe crossed out on the Scots enemy list. He had also invited almost all of the other tribe's chiefs to Berk and discussed the importance of peace between Scots and Vikings.
"They laughed at him, called him weak and called him crazy. Though his spirits were down, he didn't lose hope. He fearlessly went to Scotland and discussed peace with the king. The king agreed to this and peace went on for many generations. When I was your age, my father- your grandfather, asked me to visit the king on Scotland…To make sure the peace is still within us. Your Grandfather was ill, you see. Of course, bought Gobber along with me and a few men and we all went to Scotland. Unfortunately, the king was ill-"
"Was there some sort of sickness going around-"Hiccup interrupted
"HICCUP!"
"Sorry."
"-So, I had to speak to the eldest prince. Something about him feels very off. We both agreed that if any of my tribe steps into his land, the peace is off and the same goes for him on Berk. I don't know why he disappeared suddenly- and for Thor's sake, I hope it stays that way. From what I've heard, Scotland is now divided into four clans and I was supposed to renew the treaty to the clan leader long ago; I need to make sure that they are worth the trouble"
"So, are they worth the trouble?" Hiccup looked at the DunBrochs. His father did the same and shrugged "More or less. I've been trying to find the right time"
Hiccup turned to his father "Well, there they are now. I'm sure that this is the right time "He gestured at the DunBrochs.
Stoick shook his head "I don't think so, son. Seeing a royal family without their men is unthinkable. Their guards must be on the watch now"
"Then why don't you bring Gobber along and introduce yourself to king…um, king-?" Hiccup twirled a hand in motion, asking for the king's name to his dad
Stoick sighed "I don't know the king's name"
Hiccup threw his hands in mid-air "Unbelievable" he said in dejection
"That's because you father doesn't know him" Gobber said, coming up to Hiccup's side. He held up a heavy fabric with him. Apparently, he got back from his shopping "Don't ya think this cloth here makes a fine pair of pants?" He held the cloth out proudly
Stoick placed a hand on his face and shook his head. Hiccup looked at Gobber in disbelief "Gobber, that's a carpet" he pointed out
Gobber looked disconcerted for a while. He placed the carpet quickly behind him "I knew that. What made you think I didn't know?"
Hiccup looked at him, his expression unchanging
Gobber cleared his throat "Right. So, where were we?"
Hiccup gestured at Merida's father "The King." Gobber laughed "Your father might be the only Viking who doesn't know about the bear king- except you of course" He looked at Hiccup
"Gee, thanks Gobber"
Gobber waved a hand dismissively "Nah, don't mention it. That right there is King Fergus—the Bear King…that woman over there is his wife, Queen Elinor and that must be their daughter, Princess Merida" he said as he pointed out each of the respective family members.
Hiccup looked at the family. They don't seem like they're the kind who is always looking for a war. "Did they do something wrong?" He asked his father. Hiccup could see that his father got uncomfortable for a while and was holding something up.
"Come on Stoick" Gobber said, coming up to Stoick "Just tell the boy that the Scots destroyed yer favorite long ship"
Hiccup looked at his father "Favorite long ship? We don't have a long ship- unless we're talking about the one granddad gave you"
Stoick sighed in defeat and sat on a nearby bench "Yes, that one."
He got confused for a while "Destroyed it? I thought you said that you took it out for a fishing trip"
"We did" Gobber said, leaning on a pole "Though, the Scots thought that we were gonna invade or something because they got a little aggressive"
He really got confused "Invade? Destroyed your longship? You went to the Scots territory?! I thought that there was an agreement"
Stoick got annoyed "Well we had to! Dragons were always stealing our supply until we ran out and where else are we supposed to find food in the dead of winter?!"
"I don't know. Maybe somewhere NOT around Scots territory" Hiccup said
"Technically, we weren't IN Scotland. We were just fishing somewhere around their part of the sea" Gobber pointed out and sat alongside Stoick "I told you we shouldn't use that long ship" Gobber whispered to Stoick
"What was I supposed to do? It was the only ship that wasn't frozen" Stoick whispers back
Gobber sees the sense of this "Good point."
Hiccup thought and thought. A Viking long ship seen around Scots territory would indicate war and the only way for the Scots to attack is that if they didn't see- "Did you raise a white flag?"
Gobber and Stoick were caught off guard. Apparently they forgot all about that "Well you could say that we might've missed that one small detail" Gobber said, laughing nervously
Hiccup threw his arms up in disbelief "Unbelievable" he said, for the second time that day
"Well, we were in a hurry and hunger could do strange things in your mind and believe me, I was so hungry that even Gobber looked so tasty that day. Although, his stench snapped me back in reality. No offense, Gobber" Stoick said, looking at his friend
Gobber waved it off "You should be thankful my smell woke you up"
"So!" Hiccup clasped his hands together "I'm sure they didn't mean to destroy your long ship, dad. Just like you didn't mean to fish in their territory" he laughed uneasily "I'm sure you'll come up with a plan-"
Gobber raised his left hand in enthusiasm "I've got a plan! We-"
"-Ignore the DunBroch family and all their alliances" Stoick stands up and looks at Hiccup
"and I expect that you should too" he turns and walks away
Gobber bobbed his head "Good plan. I like it Stoick!" Gobber stands and follows the chief. Hiccup shook his head furiously and runs after his father "Dad! An alliance to Dunbroch could change everything! We would have more resources to build better homes, better clothes and better food" He mumbled the last part and rubbed his neck.
Gobber looks at Stoick "The boy's right"
Stoick suddenly felt enraged "Are you saying that my decisions are no good?" he came up to Hiccup
Oh gods "N-no, d-dad all I'm saying is that f-forgiveness goes a long way and-"
"You don't get to decide what's best for the village. You even partially burned the whole village!"
"At least it wasn't the WHOLE village" he mumbled and hopes that his dad didn't hear that
"Whole village or not, you still burned it down! It took us weeks to get supplies for the homes-"
"And that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about!" Hiccup pointed out "If you had made amends to the DunBrochs a long time ago, IT WOULD'VE BEEN EASIER!"
"I'm doing this for the best! Having Scots as alliances just screams trouble! Need I remind you that all the other Viking clans around our archipelago shares one thing in common on their enemy list: Scots. Having the Scots on our side would result into other clans crashing onto our shores declaring war for being involved in the clans of Scotland. You don't know the sacrifices I make, Hiccup."
Hiccup closes his mouth and looks sternly on his father's "It's my village too and I also want what is best for our clan. Even if you say I'm not enough" Stoick's eyes widened momentarily and he glares at his son "End of discussion. Pack your bags, Hiccup. Your train is here" He heard a loud honk on his left and a bright light hit him as the train came close.
Hiccup eyes shots open. Heavily breathing, his eyes scanned the room, failing to register his location. His eyes begin to adjust to the darkness that surrounded him. He notices the canopy bed that he is in and looking around, he finds beds similar to his around the room with its occupants sleeping soundly. Remembering where he is, he sighed and leaned back on his pillows. He didn't know why that old memory came up in his dream.
He steadies his breathing and immediately, thoughts circled around his head: If Merida finds out the he's a Viking, would she tell her dad? Or would they stop being friends? Or would she accept him and stay friends and not tell her father? But then again, what if he told Merida his secret? Would she see him as a threat? His father is right. Maybe he should just stay out of trouble, considering how much he usually gets into one. Keeping quiet is a good option. No Vikings would come to their shore and destroy everything and no Scots to worry about. Merida's father wouldn't see him as a threat to his daughter and his father won't get mad at him again. But what if he will tell her? She is a good friend of his. Would her father personally come to Hogwarts and kill him off? Probably not. His Father might've beat Fergus to it and Toothless would eventually starve to death at the cove.
Terrific.
Now that he thinks of it, he hopes that the 10 sacks of fish were enough to feed the night fury until Christmas. That is, if his father will allow him to go home. Right now, his main problem is Merida. Tell her or not? He weights out the possibilities of a good ending but he usually ends up in a bad ending. He huffed in frustration and notices the cloud of breath that came out of his mouth. Fully aware, he now notices how the temperature suddenly dropped and how the room got cold. He rubbed his hands together and got down from his bed. Once his foot touched the floor, it immediately shot up. He reached for his socks on the chair and wore it on along with his slippers. He opened his trunk and wore his fur vest and snatched his wand on the chair. Firewood, I need firewood.
The kitchens must have some. After all, what kitchen doesn't? Probably Hogwarts. The chefs here must've used magic to conjure up those delicious dishes but he hopes so otherwise.
Fire, warmth, wood, and kitchens he mumbled to himself over and over again as his wand lights up his way to the kitchens. He stops in front of the large window on the corridor and watched flakes of snow spiral down the skies. Usually, the skies would turn gray and the winds would turn even cold before snow hits but the skies were clear this morning and he even remembered Rapunzel complaining this morning how strange it is for it to be hot on a November. I guess the weather here works differently than ours.
With a shrug, he was about to turn when something sped by the window at a quick pace. He quickly scanned outside and found nothing on sight. With a shake of his head, he tells himself that it must be the cold getting to him. He fastens up his pace but not too fast for his footsteps to create a noise that would alert the ghosts, Filtch, or worse, the headmaster. Mentally slapping himself, He had almost forgotten about that. But the memory was far too interesting to be forgotten. He has to be quick. The headmaster had told all of them that if they will linger at night: 'bad things will happen' and one of the warnings the headmaster had said was that if he had seen anything strange, they might be getting to you and you shouldn't follow them. Just Great! He saw something that sped right by the window and what did he do? Look for it.
Gods! This was what had also happened before. He must be the easier target among all the students! Gotta hurry, gotta hurry. Don't wanna be dead before sunrise. What if the cold was a trick? What if he's just the only one seeing all the snow? After all, the skies were clear this morning. The Gods must really want him dead. Although, he is sure that everything is real. He is out of his common room at night, again and he is very much aware of the snow falling outside. He stops for a while. Or is it? All of this could be a hallucination and he might still be in bed. To be sure, he pinched his hand hard and wow, it hurts! He's awake. That's a good thing…I think…great; now all I have to worry about is getting caught.
He walked towards the portrait served purpose as a door to the kitchens. He looked at the painting strangely
"Hiccup! What are you doing here!"
Without thinking, he quickly replied "I'm not doing anything! I was just getting firewood and- Merida?!" he turned towards the princess and approached her "What are you doing here?"
Still shocked, she pointed an accusing finger at him "and what are YOU doing here?" Her voice bounced off the walls and Hiccup was sure that if they don't lower their voices, chances of getting caught is pretty high.
He quickly shushed her and she was taken aback "Don't shush me! I said what are you-mnnnhh!" he shushed her again and this time, with his hand over her mouth "If you don't lower your voice: we will be caught! Don't you remember what the headmaster said?" he whispered as he looked around.
She angrily removed his hand from her mouth "Of course I do" she hastily whispered back "and didn't the headmaster openly warned you about going out at night?"
He dusted off his vest and looked at her skeptically "Oh, I'm sure that it didn't apply to you"
She scoffs and crosses her arms. Looking at him, she now notices the fur vest he is wearing "What are you wearing?"
Hiccup looked at her in question and followed her eyes to his vest "Oh, this old thing? It's just something for me to keep warm. It doesn't look like it would, but It does"
She wasn't aware of the temperature going down while she headed for the kitchens and had forgotten to wear something warm. She rubbed her hands together and blowed on her hands. Her warm breath didn't last long but it did help…sort of.
"You weren't aware of the snow?" He asked while he watched her hastily rubbing her hands and blowing on them fiercely
"Of course I did" she shot him a look "I just wasn't prepared for it to be this cold THAT quick" her voice wavered a bit and her hands now tucked.
Hiccup, kind as he is, took off his vest "Here, you need this more than I do" He handed her the vest. She looked at it and shakes her head "It's nothing. I can handle a bit of cold. It's not that cold just yet anyway" she pushed back his vest to him.
"Are you sure?" concern now etched on his face.
She nodded and looked around "Besides, the kitchen is really warm inside. We could warm up in there while we're at it" She approached the portrait and remembered something "Wait, what are you doing here again?" she turned to look at him.
"I told you, remember? I was going to get firewood" he replied as he wore back his vest "So, how do we open this?"
She gave him a look, turned to the portrait and tickled the pear. It giggled and turned into a green knob. A doorway appeared and Merida went inside "okay, in we go. Quick, Hiccup" He hurriedly follows her and she shuts the door close.
The large brick fireplace did a pretty good job keeping Merida warm. Hiccup had never seen this much brass since trader Johan had visited Berk. Brass pots and pans heaped around the stone walls. Even some of the house-elves were working around the kitchen. The house-elves were kind enough to spare Hiccup some of their wood; although, others did not. Merida stayed by the fire, chewing on a sweet that her mother would never let her eat this late at night.
A grumpy house-elf held out a bundle of wood "Here you go, boy" he tossed it to the Viking who clumsily caught it "T-thank you, um, sir…?" The house elf shook his head and walks away, mumbling something incoherent.
He walked towards Merida a few moments later, carrying the bundle of firewood "you do know that those sweets aren't good for you?"
Merida, with her back still turned, shrugged her shoulders "you're not my mother" Hiccup rolled his eyes and she starts to get up. She dusted herself off and left her plate on the table "Thanks for the snack, Connie!" she thanked the house-elf wearing a faded purple pillow cover.
The House-elf, Connie, bowed gratefully "It has been a pleasure serving you, princess. I hope I'll be seeing you in another time" Merida smiled and said goodbye one last time just as they got out.
"Who's Connie?" He asked just as Merida shuts the door.
"Connie is the head of the kitchen staff. She is usually the one who would often give me sweets. She kind of reminds me of Maudie, though" Her expression changed a bit but he couldn't see her face in the dark "Anyway, Maudie is our head maid back in Dunbroch. She usually makes sweets for the boys and I still can't get over the fact that my brothers pretended to be ill and acted like her sweets were the only cure" she laughed at the memory
"Do you miss them?"
"Hmm?"
"Your family, I mean"
Her pace slowed a bit "Well, yeah…but to be honest, I am still glad that my mother doesn't get to plan my schedule here"
"Plan your sched-hold on," His ears begin to pick up the sound of somebody humming a tune, "Did you hear that?" He stopped and looked around for the source of the humming.
It was faint but, somehow, managed its way to the empty hall. From the look of Merida's face, she heard it too and she, like Hiccup, stopped and looked around. Merida was about to follow it when Hiccup's hand landed on her arm.
"Are you crazy? It's too dangerous!" she yanked her arm away from him and assured him that it probably was just a sleepless student that wandered out.
"Okay, okay…you're probably right" upon hearing the humming again, a thought made its way to his mind "I don't know, Mer. It just…feels…different."
She raised an eyebrow at him "Different?"
He rubbed his neck "Yeah…different."
"And how would you know that?"
"I don't know…I just feel it."
"Feel it?"
His brows knitted in confusion "Yeah, don't you?" to be honest, the humming just gives him goosebumps. It just doesn't feel right. He doesn't know why, but the humming gives off this strange haunting feel to it. She assured him again that it was just some student but he firmly stands on his belief.
She stomped her foot, clearly annoyed at him "Ugh! Fine! If you're really that worried, I'll go take a look" with a huff, she stubbornly decided to go with or without him before he could even react or answer. He called out for her, asking her to come back when her figure disappeared as she went to a corner. He begins to decide whether or not he should follow her. The decision of leaving her was so tempting that he was about to turn back when a small voice in his head began to question his loyalty. With a groan, he caught up to her "Merida, wait. I'm coming with you."
She gave him a bemused look "Oh? Why the sudden change of heart?"
"I can't leave you alone. Besides, the only thing that is protecting you from the cold is that nightgown you're donning. It's too dangerous. I still don't like this idea though."
Merida suddenly let out a small laugh "Of all the things you could be worried about."
He already had draped his coat on her back "Of course. That's what friends are for." She was hesitant to accept the coat but once its warmth hit her skin, she didn't even try to take it off. Hiccup whispered 'lumos' to his wand and led the way. The darkness itself was disturbing enough but somehow, the melody just made it drop dead scary. It almost made Hogwarts feel like an abandoned school
"I think it's coming from over there." She pointed weakly at a door. Summoning up his courage, Hiccup slowly approached it. "I'll take a look, you stay here."
She was flabbergasted at his words "excuuuse me?" she crossed her arms and showed her disapproval
"You're telling me to stay here?!"
"Um, I'm pretty sure that's what I said"
"And you expect me to listen to you?"
He rubbed his neck "Actually, I guessed that you'll put up a fight."
She cocked her hips, sending him a death glare.
"I'd rather ensure the princess' safety that let her barge into that room."
'Princess' she scoffed at her title. And here she thought she could be 'just Merida' she rolled her eyes and pushed him aside "Let's just do it together."
"I really think you could just sta-"
"Together." The firmness of her tone somehow told him it was this or nothing. He sighed inwardly. Knowing Merida, this is probably the best that he's going to get. "Alright, fine. Together it is. Just, please, don't do anything crazy."
"Since when have I not?" He pretended not to hear that and they positioned their selves on either side of the door, each grabbing a handle "Okay, on the count of three. One…"
"Three!" Merida interjected, pushing her side of the door open and before Hiccup could stop her, she went inside and scanned the room. The room looked like an ordinary classroom apart from the ghost sitting on one of the chairs. The humming was no more than the ghost simply singing to herself.
"Since what have I not?" He mocked her, clearly unimpressed "I'm beginning to question you- wait!"
Once he spotted the ghost, he broke out a smile "We found her! Merida you did it!"
Merida wrinkled her nose in confusion "Ah'm sorry, what?"
He turned to the redhead, a smile still evident on his face "The Grey Lady."
