Mauvier of the Four Hounds had offered to escort the Divine Dragons' forces to Lythos, where Veyle is currently. He intends on reuniting Veyle with her long lost sibling, who turns out to be Alear. Marni comes along for the cruise to Lythos, but only to return to Zephia and Griss.
On the ship, Mauvier tells everyone of Sombron's plans to restore Gradlon, as well as Lady Veyle's story. He spoke of Lady Veyle's loneliness and how she made him her knight, which explains why he cares for her so much. Her story was so sad, it even moved Marni.
All that's left now is to wait until the ship arrives at Lythos.
Raela stands at the helm of the ship, all by herself, isolated from everyone else. The only person who dares walk up to her is Alear, who is concerned because of the serious expression on her face. Raela does not speak. She won't tell him to leave her alone, but she'll allow him to speak first.
"Hey, are you okay?" Alear started.
"As okay as I can be," said Raela. "Everyone is honestly too forgiving. I lied to them, and yet they still choose to fight beside me."
"You kept a big secret, but you have also shown that you care very deeply about us," said Alear. "I may be Sombron's child, but as they said, it changes nothing. We do what we have been doing from the start - help them win this war."
"And I'm glad to still have their support," said Raela. "But I feel unworthy of it, regardless of what they said."
"I think I get what you're saying. You've kept this a secret for a thousand years," Alear guessed. "I imagine it must hurt to do something like that, and the truth coming out must be difficult for you to deal with."
"Not only is your true lineage exposed, but my true appearance as well," Raela added. "I look at my reflection... my blue hair, my blue eyes... I almost feel disgusted seeing myself like this."
"What do you mean? I think that look suits you," Alear complimented.
"But I've been wearing a false look for so long, I've grown used to it," said Raela. "I used to take the bracelet off every night to remind myself of who I really am. I stopped doing that centuries ago. For your sake, I wanted... needed... to grow accustomed to my false colors. I tell myself that the red symbolizes the liar in me. My deception represented by the Fell Dragon's color."
"You are too hard on yourself, sister," said Alear.
"I should be," Raela insisted. "It is a sin to lie, to deceive. I made sure that everyone believed in a false legend just so Mother's reputation would remain clean."
"It is wrong to lie to people, that's true," Alear agreed. "And maybe I will have to tell the people one day that I am Sombron's child, but you never intended to hurt anyone with your false story."
"But I convinced them to have faith in someone who isn't Lumera's child," said Raela. Realizing how harsh that sounded, she says, "I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult you. Mother took you in, and that makes you as much her child as I am."
"But we're not really related by blood," said Alear. "I said back at Elusia Castle that I'm not your brother and that you're not my sister. I am sorry for saying that, but that was how I felt at the moment."
"I mean, if we're talking about blood relations, then what you said was true," said Raela.
"But that doesn't matter to me anymore," said Alear. "I was at my lowest when I said that. I was so disillusioned by the truth, I let negative emotions take over my words. I would've ran away if it wasn't for you and Sigurd."
"We may not be related by blood, but we are both Mother's children," said Raela. "That makes you my brother as much as it makes me your sister."
"I couldn't agree more," Alear agreed happily. "But is this why you were a little cold and distant towards me? It was because I wasn't your true blood brother?"
"The truth, brother, is that we never really knew each other," said Raela.
"Huh?" Alear reacted.
"When you met Mother, you both agreed to meet in secret," said Raela. "Those secret meetings were kept secret even from me. Mother knew that, because of the war, I would not be so welcoming if I met you. She wanted to wait for a better time to introduce us to each other. But by the time I had finally seen you, it was too late. You were wounded and asleep."
"So, on the day I woke up, when we met at Lythos Castle," Alear thought.
"That was the first time we truly met," said Raela. "I never knew you before you slept. Imagine how difficult it was to keep my composure trying to talk to you as if I knew you."
"I guess I really put you in a difficult position," Alear realized. "I really am sorry."
"Don't be. I am the one who chose to keep secrets," said Raela. "I have not been the best daughter or the best sister."
"But you've been trying to connect with me after our failure at Destinea Cathedral," said Alear. "I think you're a good sister, Raela."
"And now we must go and rescue your sister... our sister," said Raela.
"Veyle will be happy to hear you call her that," said Alear.
"Go check on the others. Make sure they're truly prepared for what comes ahead," Raela ordered.
"As you wish, Your Divineness," Alear obeyed.
"As you were, Divine One," Raela said respectfully.
Alear does as his sister commands and checks on their allies. Raela stays where she is, taking deep breaths and taking in the sights beyond the fog. From the corner of her eye, she sees someone else walking to her. It was Fogado. He has this thinking look on his face.
"Is there something you want to say, Fogado?" Raela asked.
"Uh, not much, but... wow, I'm kinda digging the new look," said Fogado. "Or would that be old look, since this is your true color."
"You flatter me," Raela replied. "Are you here to reprimand me for my lies?"
"Nah, it would be a waste of time," said Fogado. "Honestly, I was worried you were both children of the Fell Dragon."
"Would you still follow us even if that was true?" Raela asked.
"Of course, I would," Fogado answered truthfully. "You two have done nothing but fight for the good of everyone. I got no legitimate reason to doubt you."
"Sometimes, Fogado, I can't tell if you're trying to stay on my good side or if you're being sincere," said Raela.
"Why not both?" Fogado smiled.
"We're a little too busy right now for me to consider anything," said Raela. "I am immortal, after all."
"I know, but nothing wrong with making most of the time we have together," said Fogado.
Raela chuckles and says, "Just be ready. We're going up against Sombron and Veyle. I need you to be alert and focused."
"I am in your service, Your Divineness," Fogado obeyed.
Alear is currently discussing the upcoming battle with Vander, Alfred, Diamant, Ivy, and Timerra. But someone was watching him from afar. It was Lapis. Her view was suddenly blocked by a friend. It was Citrinne, who was looking at her with a raised eyebrow and a smirk on her lips. Lapis turns her back on Citrinne, for some reason, and looks at the fog surrounding them.
"I must say, Lapis, you impressed me with your words back at Elusia Castle," said Citrinne.
"I d-don't know what you mean," Lapis stuttered.
"I know what it's like to doubt yourself because of where you come from, but I never let that stop me and it shouldn't stop you either," Citrinne recalled.
"I was just, um, trying to give him motivation," said Lapis. "Th-There's nothing wrong with that."
"Lapis, you're stuttering and you're blushing red," said Citrinne. "Must you keep denying your true feelings to me."
"Only because I have no idea what you're talking about," Lapis said in denial.
"Tell me, Lapis. What is it about Prince Alcryst that you admire?" Citrinne asked.
"Do you really want me to talk about this?" Lapis questioned, slightly irritated.
"Only if you want me to stop pestering you," said Citrinne.
Lapis sighs and says, "I admire his bravery and perceptiveness. Even when he doubts himself, the best parts of him show in battle. He puts all of his doubts aside and focuses on protecting all of us."
"What about the Divine One?" Citrinne asked. "What is it about him that you admire?"
"Well, he's kind, considerate, selfless, honest... charming..." Lapis gasps, stops herself, and covers her mouth.
"Something tells me your heart yearns for another," said Citrinne.
"And so what if it does? How can you assume to know what my heart wants?" Lapis retorted.
"Lapis, I'm not trying to be mean. I mean, sure, I like to tease you, but I am sincerely trying to help you," said Citrinne. "And I agree. The Divine One is charming in more ways than one. I don't know if that's what he was like before he slept for a thousand years, but he is caring, modest, and genuine. It's something to truly admire."
"If you think so, why don't you court him?" Lapis teased.
"Tempting, but who am I step in the way of a precious bond?" Citrinne replied. "I leave the rest to you, Lady Lapis. Make your choice and make sure you're certain of your choice."
