Marinette was roaming at the beach, still thinking about what her best friend said about those rumors. What if there is a merman? Another rumor is said to believe that merpeople are vicious creatures that lure their victims by using their siren voices and drown them once they've gotten close.
"That can't be true. They are probably just saying that to scare folks around" Marinette said and spotted something flashing pink in the sand.
When she dug it up it was a pair of red earrings, "Ruby earrings?" She got confused.
But then something came out of the earrings, swirling around her to make her fall down, startled by whatever it was.
The flash stopped and there stood a tiny red creature, "AAAAAHHHHH!" Marinette screamed, "A bug mouse!" She pointed at it.
"Correction, I'm a kwami and it sure is been a long time since I've been in those earrings. I'm Tikki, what's yours?" The kwami said but Marinette could not seem to speak due to her shock, "Hello? Can you hear me?" Tikki tried to snap her back to reality.
"Agh! Okay, I'm talking to some bug mouse thing and it talks" Marinette hyperventilated.
"Again, I'm a kwami," Tikki said.
"What?" Marinette raised a brow.
"A magical being of luck" Tikki explained.
"Like a Ladybug?" Marinette asked.
"Yes. What's your name again?" Tikki asked.
"Princess Marinette" Marinette said.
"Lovely name. We are so gonna get along well" Tikki said.

Adrien now meets a cat kwami named Plagg and he is very annoyed that there's no cheese in the ocean. Adrien doesn't even have that kind of food for him but he guess he'll have to find something suitable for him to eat in the ocean.
"Plagg, please. This is very new to me and for a genie thing, you missed out over a thousand years right now" Adrien said.
"First of all, I'm a kwami and secondly do you have anything for me yet?" Plagg replied.
"Simmer down. I can't let my father see you. All I have is fresh fish and kelp" Adrien said.
"I'll try kelp," Plagg said.
"Here you go" Adrien fed him some kelp, "That story you told me about was you causing destruction to Atlantis. My ancestors were once human?" Adrien asked.
"Yes, but in the last second the magic of Atlantis converted all survivors to merpeople," Plagg said.
"Poseidon's power to save my people," Adrien said, swimming to the tree family portrait but to merpeople, it was the reef tree family of his ancestors that came before him.
"Yeah, but without a holder I can't control my powers," Plagg said.
"That explains the catastrophe" Adrien sighs and quickly grabs Plagg to hide him before his father's visor comes.
"Yes, Nathalie?" He greeted her.
"Your Highness, your father wishes you to think about this. As much as I promised your mother, don't let your father stop you from your own dreams, not his" Nathalie said.
"He's a stubborn king, Nathalie. I bet he wants me now, again" Adrien sighs in frustration.
"Yes, come with me," Nathalie said.
"For years ever since my mom died, he changed too much into a cold and stubborn man" Adrien followed her.
"He's afraid to lose you, Adrien. As stubborn as he is, he's still king. You're right that Felix is the perfect heir. His parents are dead and he's the last of the Fathom family" Nathalie said.
"Yes, because of that, he's my adopted brother. But father only wants him as duke" Adrien said.
"He's still your cousin. Wish you luck" Nathalie said before heading in the other direction.
Adrien came into the throne room, "What is it now Father?"
"Adrien, where have you been?" Gabriel asked calmly.
"The usual. Swimming around in the ocean" Adrien said.
"I see. I hope you remember the rules, no interacting with the surface people" Gabriel said.
"You don't even know them, father. We don't even know what they do on land" Adrien did not like how he hates the surface people.
"At sea, they just hunt, pollute, and ransack our nature," Gabriel said.
"The land and the sea are one, father. We cannot let fear divide the worlds" Adrien said.
"I really wish I could believe that," Gabriel said.
"You don't know them, father. They also don't know us" Adrien said.
"That's enough!" Gabriel shouted in anger.
"I'm just saying not every human could be like that," Adrien said.
"We'll discuss this later!" Gabriel interrupted.
Adrien groans in annoyance and swims away, letting the sea plant doors close, "Stubborn father" He thought, swimming to a shipwreck.
"Seriously, are you two related or is he forgetting what being a parent is?" Plagg asked.
"My mom's death changed him," Adrien said, going inside the wreck.
"And I thought everyone moves on, not grieve for too long," Plagg said.
"Yeah, but not for him" Adrien found some fancy objects.
A telescope interested him and he's seen what a human uses it for, "Hmmm" He spies through it and sees some dolphins far away, "Wow, so this is what they use for" Adrien said.
He soon found a mirror. He can see his reflection which is much better than his reflection above the surface water. He really does look so much like his mother. Then he looks for more items. Good thing he brought a bag to collect but what he didn't know is that the mirror he found was reflecting something and it sure lured it right here.
"Seriously, kid. When is your dad ever gonna see you're not like him?" Plagg asked.
"I have no idea" Adrien shrugs.
Plagg sensed something moving around, "Don't…..move"
"What?" Adrien raised a brow.
"Shark" Plagg whispered, seeing a great white outside.
"Oh, shit" Adrien saw a vanity mirror reflecting and it was attracting the vicious predator, "What do we do?" He whispered.
"No time to give you instructions but say Claws Out, then say Cataclysm to summon your power," Plagg said, noticing that the shark was sensing Adrien.
"Claws out? Whoa!" Adrien saw a green flashing brighten his body.
His blue merman tail turned black with green fins, his arms received black skin with claws, a black mask, cat ears, and cat eyes.
The flash got the shark's attention and it smashed through the shipwreck. It snaps its jaws at him but misses every time. Adrien swam below deck to avoid the shark and just as he thought he lost it, the shark reappeared and snapped at him again. Adrien swam back to above deck, where the shark's dorsal fin cut through the floor. Once outside, Adrien looks frantically for something to defeat the shark, and then by seeing the mirror he gets an idea.
"Hey! Over here!" He calls for the shark and lured it to the cabin. He hides behind a wall as the shark rams into the mirror.
"Cataclysm!" He summoned a destructive power on his hand, "Whoa! Okay, um, a simple touch?" He touched the shark, and it turned into black dust and the ocean mixes it up as it carries away.
"Whoa, Plagg wasn't kidding about his powers. Now what to call myself? Catfish? Nope. Seacat? Nope," He thought of different names.
His mother once told him a story about a superhero who was human and was called Cat Noir, a stealthy feline blending in the shadows to save innocents.
"I got it, Cat Noir" He called himself that.

At the kingdom on land, Marinette was also learning everything from her kwami but it sure wasn't easy to process everything as she was turned into Ladybug.
"Okay, what can I do?" Ladybug looks at her yo-yo, "Okay. A simple yo-yo toy and what?" She then began to spin it around and it stretched out, "Whoa! Cool!"
But then it had a mind of its own as it flew out the balcony dragging her too, "WHHHOOOOOAAAAAA!"
The yo-yo led her to a merman cat that was practicing his staff trident but when he heard a scream, he exclaimed when she bumped into him, splashing in the water.
Ladybug struggled to catch a breath but couldn't breathe underwater.
She swam up to the surface to breathe, "Oh god! Oh god! Oh my god!"
She coughed to get her lungs straight to breathe.
The mysterious merman with cat features came to the surface, clutching his head from the impact, "Ow….Whoa, you're a human" Cat Noir said.
"AAAAHHHHHHH!" Ladybug screamed at the sight of a real merman.
"WHOA! WHOA! Relax! I'm not gonna eat you!" Cat Noir tries to calm her down.
"A cat merman?!" Ladybug said frantically.
"The name's Cat Noir. And you? A watermelon your people call a fruit?" Cat Noir asked.
"Excuse me?! I'm…uh…..I'm Ladybug" Ladybug swims to the rock to support herself to stay afloat.
"Ladybug? Huh, for a second, I thought you were a melon crashing onto me" Cat Noir swims up to her.
"Man, here I am talking to an actual merman with cat features that technically cats hate water," Ladybug said.
"That makes me a catfish, minus the whiskers. Surprised to see an actual merman?" Cat Noir said.
"Yes, and I've been hearing rumors about a merman going around at the beach. I just thought it could have been a dolphin" Ladybug said.
"Really? And you expected one to sing here?" Cat Noir asked with a tease.
"When it comes to proving there is a mermaid, yes. My people assume that your kind would lure victims into hearing a siren and get drowned" Ladybug said.
"I'd never do such things to a girl like you," Cat Noir said.
"But your people can?" Ladybug asked.
"Well, we rarely interact with humans" Cat Noir climbs on the rock.
"But you're interacting with me right now," Ladybug said and climbed on a rock, nearly almost slipping.
"First time for me, Watermelon" Cat Noir replied.
"So you've been spying on the beach for months now?" Ladybug said.
"Sort of. Mostly seen the Princess" Cat Noir said.
Ladybug gasped quietly when he mentioned her true self, "Oh, well, she's a nice person" Ladybug said.
"And it's so nice to meet a lovely lady like you. Especially the bumping into each other kind of thing" Cat Noir said.
"It was an accident," Ladybug said.
"Anyways, I must go. I see the ship arriving and I cannot be seen" Cat Noir gestures to the ship coming this way to shore.
"Well gotta go too, Kitty" Ladybug threw her yo-yo to swing away.
"Kitty?" Cat Noir raises a brow and quickly dives in the water before anyone sees him.
