Chapter Four: Captured
Alex awoke as the sun of Coruscant started rising, barely providing light to the level they were on. He then realized a bunch of loud clanking noises coming from outside. There was a gang of bandits starting to strip their ship! "Hey," Alex yelled at the criminals, "Don't move another muscle!" He drew his blaster and pointed it at one of the bandits. "How about you drop the blaster instead," one of the bandits said as two screams came from inside the ship, it caught Alex off guard. Two bandits came out holding Sarah and Eli as hostages, with blasters primed at their heads. You could see the shock on Alex's face. He had let them sneak past him, and now his friends were in danger. He didn't seem to have a choice but to lower his blaster, but then he had an idea. A bold, rash, and probably stupid idea. But an idea. He didn't lower his blaster. "Go ahead. Shoot them," he said. "They have been a thorn in my side anyway."
Eli and Sarah looked at each other in shock. "Are. You. Crazy!" Sarah replied. Eli was too shocked to say anything. "When I get my hands on you, you will pay!" "In that case, I'll do it myself," Alex replied to the bandits. "You guys don't mind. Do you?" Not overthinking it, the bandits kept Eli and Sarah tied. Then let Alex approach behind them, but not without blasters aiming at Alex, just in case. As Alex was coming up, he winked at Eli and Sarah, then the anger in both their faces started to become confused.
It all became clear when he handed each of them a smoke grenade. It would buy them enough time to grab their gear and leave. So, with what seemed like a single draw from his Karambit-style Vibroblade. The ties that held Eli and Sarah were broken, and they released the smoke bombs, temporarily blinding the bandits. The bandits were caught off guard and started shooting in random directions. Sarah and Eli dashed toward the ship to grab their weapons, and Alex lunged toward an unsuspecting bandit and started to take him out. As soon as they heard the screams of a couple of their comrades. The rest of the bandits took off, but not without taking some hits from Eli and Sarah. When the smoke cleared, out of the ten bandits, 4 of them were dropped dead on the ground. The rest limped away wounded.
While Alex and Eli cheered for their success. Sarah walked up to Alex and Slapped him in the face. Hard. Alex almost fell over from the impact. "Yeah, I probably deserved that," Alex said. "You think?" Sarah replied sarcastically. "I'm surprised you guys didn't see through me," Alex replied. "Did you think I would let them kill you? I'm not that dumb." Sarah sighed. "Just try to give us a heads-up next time. Although, I admit it was a pretty good strategy. I didn't expect the bandits to be that gullible." "Me neither, but they seemed half-drunk," Alex replied. "Which could explain it. Anyways, they practically scraped the ship. There's no use trying to fix it now." "Maybe we can hitch a ride on one of the civilian transports off-world," Eli said. "We just have to find a way to get up there." "That could work," Sarah said. "But I kinda want to get a bite to eat first. All this fighting and running from the empire is working up an appetite." They all agreed they hadn't eaten since Mandalore a couple of days before the Purge. So they grabbed whatever they could from the ship and headed off into, what was for them, the unknown planet of Coruscant."
Meanwhile, in the Imperial Palace. An Officer was in his study when he heard the tragic news. After three unidentified ensigns turned traitors, they blew up the Star Destroyer and killed everyone, including his best friend, who was the one who witnessed them turn traitors and was the admiral of the ship. He was almost shocked as he read the newsletter, then looked out his window to see the dust and debris left where the Star Destroyer once was. He knew that the one thing that could make an explosion that size was the fuel tanks for the hyperdrive. It didn't matter if it was one blast or thousands. If the fuel tanks were hit, then everything went up in flames. He knew that the traitors couldn't have gone far and were probably on Coruscant. Luckily for him, he was Commander of the Coruscant honor guard. An elite division of troopers who went after only the most dangerous criminals on Coruscant. His name was Commander Zhan. He was one of the most ruthless leaders in the empire, and he enjoyed bringing criminals to justice. That's one part of the reason why he was feared, the main one, though, was because he was good at his job. Maybe even great. However, this mission was slightly different. He had a grudge against these ensigns and was set on finding them. He messaged the captain of the honor guard to hold off on their search for a bounty hunter gang and to find these traitors. All that was known about them was that they were younger humanoids. No older than 25, based on the last message the admiral sent him, and so the hunt began.
After a couple of hours roaming, not trying to draw attention, and occasionally trying to stay out of sight of squads of Stormtroopers. They made it to a popular diner by the looks of it. They entered the diner and sat in a couple of seats at the bar. A server droid came by and asked what they wanted. Eli got a deluxe Nerfburger with a small side of fresh salad made with vegetables from the gardens of Alderaan. Which he devoured and even ordered a second one. Sarah got the limited-time Correllian Spiced Style Blurg. Which she claimed was pretty good. Then Alex got the Trio Ronto Roast Tacos, which he loved. Although he tried not to show it too much. After they were done, they paid with the few credits that they had and left. But not after Alex ordered a round of Blue Milk to-go. Full and energized, they head off into the city.
Trying to work their way around the hustle and bustle of everyone around them. Eventually, they made it to the transport terminal to make it off-world. They waited in line to grab tickets. "Three tickets off-world," Alex told the droid working there. "Three-hundred credits, please," the droid replied. Alex looked at Eli and Sarah. They had spent all their money on food; they didn't have enough for even one ticket. "Can we please just have tickets? Anywhere is fine." Alex pleaded to the droid. The droid simply responded. "No credits, no ticket. Have a nice day." They got out of line and tried to plan how they would get off-world now. "Without credits, we can't get transport off-world." Alex said, "What do we do?" "We could... Oh, I know. We can sneak in with the cargo." Eli replied, pointing to the Togrutas putting the cargo crates into the ship. "Seems like the only choice we have," Sarah replied. "Alright, let's do it. But be careful, we get caught, and it's game over." "I've got a bad feeling about this," Alex replied. "You have a better idea?" Sarah asked. Knowing that it's their only chance to get off-world. They snuck behind cargo crates and waited for the right time to get on the ship. Unfortunately, their efforts were thwarted when Alex knocked over one of the crates, and one of the Togrutas spotted him. All three tried to sprint towards the ship, but not without being cut off by Stormtroopers, who the Togrutas had called to catch them. They were cut off again when they tried to run the other way. They were surrounded. Before they could draw their blasters, the troopers fired theirs, which were set to stun. Then Eli, Sarah, and Alex fell to the floor.
Alex woke up in a small and somewhat cramped cell. It had a bench on one side, and the other side was the exit. Sealed off by a red shield. Two troopers guarded the sides of the exit. Alex reached for his blaster, but it wasn't there. They had taken all his weapons. "Where am I?" He asked one of the Stormtroopers. "In jail," One of them replied. "Where's the others?" Alex asked. "Away from you." The other replied. Alex sighed. "Guess I'll just have to sit around and wait." He thought. "Hopefully, I can find a way out of here." He waited for a few hours until a loud booming shook the room. Alex jumped. "What was that?" One of the Stormtroopers asked.
Then, another trooper said they were under attack, and all troops were needed outside the prison. So, they left, but the one who informed them of the attack stayed behind and sealed the door shut. Then, I shot the control panel. "Ha. Suckers." She spoke. "I thought I recognized that voice," Alex said. "But I didn't think you would copy me. That's a new one for you, Sarah." She took off her helmet and lowered the shield. "Guess nothing gets past you," she said as she handed him his blaster, which she stole from the vault. "We still have Eli to free, though," Sarah claimed. "Wait, who's the one who set off the explosion," Alex asked. "I'll explain later," Sarah replied. "Right now, we have to go." So, they ended up blasting an opening through the wall with a couple of explosives, then blasting through Stormtroopers to the hangar bay of the prison. "I have some new friends getting Eli," Sarah said. "For now, let's get to the ship." She and Alex bolted through the hangar bay until they came upon a crimson and gold-painted YT-1300 light freighter. They got in, took control of the cockpit, and took off. Alex saw a group of people running towards the ship as they took off. A Trandoshian, A couple of IG units, and a few humanoid figures, including Eli!
Sarah opened the entrance hatch as they were mid-flight,
They all jumped in,
The hangar bay doors started closing,
But right as they did, Sarah pushed two levers at the front of the ship's controls, and with a loud whoosh. They blasted into the blue cyclone of hyperspace. The crew cheered at another successful mission. Alex, Eli, and Sarah took a deep breath and sighed. Then Eli came over to the cockpit to greet them. "I knew we would eventually get out, but this is not what I had in mind," Eli said. "Me neither," Alex agreed. Sarah replied, "But you got to admit. What A Rush! Nothing like a good breakout to get the adrenaline pumping, am I right." "You said it." A humanoid figure replied as he was lingering by the entrance. "Oh, I almost forgot," Sarah said. "Come meet my new friends that I made an hour ago." Sarah leads them to the ship's central area, where the rest of the crew is waiting.
A humanoid figure with pale blue skin, silver hair, and beaming red eyes steps forward. "This is Captain Xaro, the chiss that oversees this fine group and this lovely ship." "Greetings," the chiss said, looking at Eli and Alex. "Welcome to the Chimera. As Sarah has already introduced me, I'll introduce the others. Those two IG Assassin droids are IG-15 and
IG-23, the work of our star mechanic Loa." The Togruta emerges from behind one of the IG units, her clothes and gloves dirty from the oil and dirt. But through all of it, you can still notice a small charm hanging from one of her headtails and a ring she is fidgeting with on her right ring finger. "Our two front-line attackers and star pilots, Roa and Sarg." The two Corellians step forward; one has his DL-50 blaster holstered, and the other has his DC-16 blaster in his hands as if trying to show it off subtly. "And finally, our expert in espionage and sneak attacks, Roxshan, but we call him Rox for short." The Trandoshian walks forward. His claws were bare on the trigger of his A280, his reptilian eyes looking at Eli and Alex, his skin a pale yellowish-green. You could tell he was itching for a fight.
"This is quite the crew you guys have," Eli said. "Well, they got us out of an Imperial Prison. That's not an easy feat." Alex replied. "We are known throughout the Empire as the Archangels, the number one bounty-hunting gang that has been a thorn in their side for years," Xaro explained. "So I'm guessing you guys will drop us off at the nearest inhabited planet?" Alex asked. "Well, your friend here has been telling us how much you hate the Empire. Xaro explained, pointing at Sarah. "We could always use the extra hands." "So, you boys up for it?" Sarah asked. "Let's do it!" Eli said excitedly. "This should be fun," Alex said, which was his way of saying yes.
Alex, Eli, and Sarah celebrated with their new friends for freedom and a small victory against the Empire. However, they don't realize that the Empire will find a way to catch up to them sooner rather than later.
