4:00 pm, Abandoned Warehouse
Monty and a few of the others were waiting inside the warehouse, playing cards as they waited for their turn to patrol with Braun. One of the men grabbed the top card of the deck, and placed it on the table. Ace of clubs.
"Dammit," Monty thought to himself, having put down a good amount of cash this round of poker. He was already deep in so he decided to keep in the game, as everyone passed.
"Alright, show your hands," the guy in the middle had said aloud. Soon everyone took turns revealing their hands. A high card hand coming from Monty's friend. A few straights and full houses. Then it was Monty's turn and all he had were a pair of aces. The guy in the middle took all the money and gave it to the winner. "Congrats, pretty hefty round huh?" Almost immediately after he did this, a small alarm began to ring in everyone's earpiece. "Fucking finally!" The guy got up and grabbed his gear, making sure it was concealed in his clothes as they were going into public. The others followed suit, including Monty.
On the sidewalk near the store
Judo decides to keep quiet, Braun's presence almost too much for her. Braun stands up straight and puts a hand on her shoulder.
"I know you can hear me. Answer, now." His voice caused Judo to shudder. His aggressive tone and overwhelming presence almost causing Judo to tear up.
"K-kish? W-who's that?" Judo weakly responded, not turning to face him. Braun's grip on Judo's shoulder tightened, which caused her to flinch. "P-please leave me alone..!" She tried twisting her body to try and shake him off, but instead Braun's grip tightened further, this time actually causing a bit of pain.
"Acting dumb aren't we?" Judo felt a weird sensation in the air around her. Her bag begins to shift on her back, opening itself up. She turned slightly in confusion, only to see her wallet floating, opening to show her id. "So, that's where you live. I'll check it out later." Judo's eyes widened, now visibly in fear. Although Braun's face was masked, she could swear that underneath he was smirking. Braun soon released his grip on her, Judo's wallet closing and landing softly in Braun's hand.
"G-give.. give that back!" Judo reached out towards Braun's hand. However, she was pulled back by her backpack, which seemed to pull her away from him.
"Sorry but I'm going to borrow thi-" Braun was shortly cut off, the wallet no longer in his hand. Before he could even register what had happened, drops of blood were heard behind Judo. Kish had arrived, and he had used his ability for a very short time to grab the wallet. Even though he used it for less than 3 seconds, he still suffered from the drawback. "Ah, well what do we have he-"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE LEVI??" Kish yelled, not letting him finish. The men behind Braun looked towards each other, a bit of confusion visible on their faces. Braun, who's name is actually Levi, stayed silent. "You're almost as important as I am to them, why would they let you out??" Instead of responding, Levi raised a hand, the crosswalk light began to shake before being broken off the ground, bending into a circle before rapidly approaching Kish and Judo. However, before it reached them they disappeared. "Answer me Levi!" Kish and Judo were now behind the two men and Levi. Kish lost a bit more blood with this, which worried Judo immensely.
"...what power does she have?" Levi asked, turning around to face them. This only angered Kish, while Judo took a few steps back.
"W-why does it matter?? Answer me Levi! I thought you hated them just as much as I do!" With one of his hands he signaled for Judo to run. However, Judo didn't run. Instead she stayed behind Kish, throwing her bag to the side. Kish turned around, "Get out of here!". As Kish was saying that, Levi raised both of his hands, the concrete slabs that made the sidewalk being ripped off the ground.
"I suggest you come with me, or this will hurt. I know you can't use your ability well, so don't even try to run."
Kish merely growled at this, charging forward. The two men charged as well, but were caught off guard by Kish's limited use of his power, stopping time for less then a second at a time to dodge them, running directly at Levi. A bit of blood ran down his face and neck, showing that even a tiny use of his power would hurt himself. Levi then crushed the slabs of concrete into hundreds of pieces, condensing them into sharp needles, launching a good few at him. Kish merely stopped time, planning on avoiding them until he realized he wasn't their only target. He grit his teeth and turned around as quickly as possible, but, one and a half seconds had passed, and Kish couldn't hold it any longer. Instead, he swung his arm at the needles, knocking a good few off their trajectory. That was his limit, time beginning to unfreeze, Kish merely watched as the rest of the needles flew by him, hitting the men, and Judo.
Kish's eyes widened as he saw the needles hit Judo, piercing through her clothes and fur. The wind caused by the launch of the needles finally hit Kish from behind, showing just how fast they were. He stopped time briefly to run up to Judo, catching her before she had any time to fall. Her eyes were also widened, and her breathing was heavy as the pain began to register.
Her mouth opened, but no words or sounds would come out. But the only sound the both of them could hear was the sound of blood hitting the floor underneath them. "Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. Judo!" He lowered her onto the ground, taking his jacket off and ripping it into long pieces, wrapping it around her body where the holes were, trying to prevent any more blood loss. As he was doing this, Levi raised more slabs, crushing them into even more needles, launching a few at Kish, which hit him straight on. Kish flinches, gritting his teeth, his focus solely on Judo. "You can't die.. not like this..!!"
Judo merely watched, unable to move her body as she was in shock. She felt her blood rushing out before Kish covered the holes, but she had already lost a large amount. She could barely keep her eyes open at this point. For a few seconds, she felt unbearable pain. But, all the pain seemed to fade away as she heard Kish scream in pain. The concrete around them had bent and twisted into large spiraling drills, which had both impaled Kish on both sides of his stomachs.
"You know, I should've mentioned this before, but they don't really need you. This mission is merely about bringing you back, dead or alive," Levi spoke, his voice seeming to lighten up, no longer sounding menacing partway through. "...I'm sorry Kish." He pushed the drills in deeper, causing even more blood to fall on Judo. Judo looked up to Kish, his eyes slowly being drained of life. Tears began to well up in Judo's eyes.
"K-Kish…?" Kish only looked down to Judo, unable to move or speak. "Say something.. please..!"
"...Run.." Kish weakly said. Judo's eyes shrunk as she stayed there, frozen.
Her mind was filled with conflicting thoughts. "I can't just run.. he'll die!" "I don't know Kish.. I don't know anything about him..!" "I can't just leave him for dead..!!" "I.. I don't want to die!" So many thoughts raced in her head as she closed her eyes and grit her teeth. "Don't die on me…" she whispered. "You can't die, not like this..!!" She opened her eyes wide, tears freely flowing out as her eyes began to glow a light green. Kish and the others in the area felt a wave of energy hit them. The energy seemed to empower Kish, who slowly reached to his sides and forced the two drills out of his body. He grunted as he did, even more blood flowing out of the hole. However, the hole itself seemed to close quickly, and Kish's breathing slowly returned to normal. He was surprised by this and looked at his hands, then to the others, who all seemed to be reenergized.
Judo was panting heavily, as activating her ability for the first time took a huge toll on her. Her own wounds began to heal as well, but her fatigue stayed the same unlike the others. Once she regained a little composure, she let out a sigh of relief seeing Kish all better, although she was also confused. Levi looked down to his own hands, noticing his fatigue also leave his body. "Healing..? And at this level?? With this maybe I can…" Levi shook his head. "I can't get out of this. I either die, or bring him back.." He put a hand onto his chest and took a deep breath before raising both hands to the air, exerting himself even more to lift multiple slabs of concrete and pieces of earth as well.
Kish took a deep breath as well. "With this.. I can exert myself as much as I want with no drawbacks.. I can fight..!" "Don't worry Judo, stay behind me and we can get through this!"
4:15, Half a mile from the store
Monty and a few other men were making their way to Levi and the others, keeping a steady jog. They all did not know what was going on. There were barely any people around, which made Monty think. "Hardly any people around. Something's definitely up…" He picked up the pace. Soon enough they saw the group at a distance. Monty squinted, trying to take a better look at the situation. He saw Levi, and two other men behind him, all of them in battle ready stances. And across from them was Kish and Judo. "There he is.. how am I gonna separate him from the others…?"
They stopped a good distance behind, enough so their weapons were able to assist when needed. However, Levi made subtle hand gestures, which told them to stand down. "Is he.. confident? But.. he can't fight against Kish. His ability is too strong." He takes a quick glance at Judo, noticing a small green aura around her. He was a little puzzled, slowly circling around the area to take a better look. Kish and Judo noticed him from the corner of their eyes, but as he was a good distance away, they returned their gaze back at Levi.
The real fight is just beginning…
