Medusa looked over her class that she had been teaching as part of the new "Exercise Life Initiative" that the Headmaster had started, which would allow her to teach survival skills to these kids so they would hopefully survive in any environment. Three weeks into teaching, her current class was made up of second years that included people like Issei Hyoudou, Asia Argento and Aika Kiryuu. Each month would have them 'survive' in a new environment, this month starting out easy with a lush jungle. Until this third week where wildlife would finally get over their fear and start attacking. Thankfully, it was simply spun as holograms that the school was field testing for scientists, not magic that was very powerful and spun by the Shinto Pantheon.
Today, however, she had called in some of her closer friends and family on the stranded Hunter clan on Earth. They would be playing invisible threats that could lurk in the wild like Poachers or natives that did not want intruders on their lands. It was amusing as she had told the class that she had brought in some people to act out as those in the Jungle that would be the natives or poachers they could not see. The Hunters had been rather amused as they used bows and foam tipped arrows and paint guns to simulate the weapons, as the kids were panicking under the coordinated strikes.
Only Issei, Aika and Asia worked together and had taken down two of the Clan. Which had not only impressed her but also the pair as they had been taken out with traps. Of course, the entire point of this exercise was to think under fire. Those three were simply not panicking as badly and using the jungle to their advantage like she had been teaching. But, taking out two heavily muscled and skilled warriors before the time ended was very impressive. She would probably be getting a few messages from them to have them be trained further in Hunter tactics and skills. Probably later inducted if they wanted to have more family, if Medusa had to guess.
Not only that, Medusa also got the feeling that Headmaster Iroh was giving her time to look over those that she would be asked to train. It was in her contract after all, this teaching job was more of a side gig that would allow her to have a reasonable income. At least on paper, as Medusa really had more money then the average human bounty hunter. Her main focus had been with Rias Gremory and her Peerage, all having been on a file given to her by the Headmaster before accepting this job.
The job was more of a precaution but the headmaster had been a former and well known Dragonslayer in his past, planning for inevitabilities and backing those up with back up back up plans were the stock and trade of all Dragonslayers. Killing Dragons was a dangerous task, something only those with the knowledge and abilities could do it. Of course, she had pushed the third years harder as they would be going into this class going into college. They didn't have the luxury that second years or below had, so she had been switching the location every week to test them.
Rias, Akeno along with Sona and her Queen were pushed the hardest as they were clearly out of shape and didn't realize why this class had them in it. Sure, her fellow PE teacher was doing regular exercise for sports and stuff but Medusa was pushing the students into surviving everywhere. Both Rias and Sona were hard pressed with the past three weeks of switching locations, their Queens not doing much better. Clearly, the high class Devils were not introduced to physical exertion much.
She was changing that because they would be useless if they're survival depended on it.
For the past three weeks, she had the four under more harsh conditions but the rest of the class didn't notice. Each time, the Devils pushed back and grew a bit from the experience. Of course, they also needed to shower afterwards but it was worth it as the gains in knowledge would help them in the long run. Currently, she was hoping for more gains for the two peerages but that would be a miracle as it would take months to get them up to snuff. Her level of approval, that is.
"I expect you all to continue practicing your exercises this weekend," She was saying to her class at the end of the class time, "even though you have two weeks due to the Kuoh annual festival, I want you all to practice what I've been teaching you. There will be two tests at the end of the year, physical and theoretical."
The second year class groaned but looked rather accepting, surprisingly. Though, most of the male students of the school were actually putting their best forward. Even the perverted duo were there, both clearly had some experience in adapting due to their activities. That and well, having a teacher that was "In her mid to late forties but looked to be in her early to mid thirties" helped. That and the women started, finally, started getting into the purpose of this class after the boys were clearly showing them up. It was like there was some underlying vendetta between the boys and girls, probably something to do with the co-op nature of the school itself.
She found it amusing in the highest order, the males were pushing harder and many of them were asking questions of situations that she had faced but prayed they never faced.
She was sending them off and entering her office before spotting a little light blue skinned being with a thin tail ending in a cyan feather. It smiled happily and waved at her.
"Hi Meddi!" The incubus cheered softly before Medusa rolled her eyes at the jovial demon.
"Mim," She pointed at a seat in front of her desk, "sit on the chair."
The incubus giggled before taking a seat on the chair, purposefully crossing its legs, "so, the information you want is ready to deliver but I'm not sure you're ready to get it. "
The Greek monster sits in her chair behind the desk, raising her eyebrow before shaking her head, "Mim, I'm not indulging in your needs today as I'm on contract with the Headmaster."
Mim pouted and huffed, "not my fault that you are always too busy to have some fun."
Medusa pinched the bridge of her nose before saying, "I do have fun but I don't have fun in the manner you indulge in, you nymphomaniac."
Mim pouted more but then put a file on the desk, "What you wanted, Medusa."
Before the Incubus could leave, the demon found itself coiled within the tail of Medusa as she gave the messenger a look, "I never said you could leave though, I need some stress relief."
Mim looked rather red in the face now, sweating as the incubus realized what that stress relief would involve. A lot of squeezing and Mim unable to escape the famous Greek Monster.
Rias Gremory huffed as she entered the main meeting room of the ORC, school having just finished up for the day. She was returning from her final lesson with Miss Meda Suu and was needing a good bath but her schedule was filled due to wanting to meet with the Supreme Five Swords of Aiichi Academy. Instead, she decided for a quick shower and a long bath after this meeting. As she entered the bathroom that was off from the main room, striping off her clothing before looking at herself in the mirror.
Her crimson hair was tangled in places, she had bruises on her legs and arms, and a cut was on her belly. Several scratches were on her huge breasts, from the dead bush the Akeno pushed her into to avoid being shot by one of the "natives" that Meda had used for their training today. She also had a bump on the side of her head from hitting a smooth rock a bit too hard to pull Sona down from being shot by a poacher, however, the savanna riverbank was not agreeable. All in all; she was bruised but not beaten.
Stepping into the shower, Rias pulled out a cream that her mother had given her that would remove the bruises from her body. Lathering it up her sinful form, Rias couldn't help but wince as the magical stuff went to work. She then turned on the water and washed it off, starting on her blood red hair as she worked to untangle it thoroughly. After getting some hair products into her hair, Rias finally got all the debris out of it before washing herself clean. Turning off the shower, she stepped out and began the long process of drying her hair before finally giving up and using some of her demonic power to dry and style it instantly.
She was on a schedule after all.
Drying herself off with a towel, she dressed herself into a fresh Kuoh uniform before stepping out of the bathroom. Thankfully, the swords had not arrived so she could get something to eat. Alternatively, she could have Akeno make something but she knew that Akeno would not be available due to having a date with Issei that night. The Devil heiress got herself some tea and a few items to nibble on before the five arrived, sitting at her desk before enjoying her snack. As she did so, she pulled out the files on the five to have some 'light reading'.
Rin Onigawara is half Oni, daughter of an Oni that had given his life to save those from a collapsing burning building. He had clearly not left his daughter on purpose but the woman he had her with was a spiteful, hateful mortal that had Rin believe her dad was some womanizer until the Headmistress of Aiichi had told Rin her father had been a local hero.
That revelation had caused a major rift to expand into a canyon until the Headmistress had the woman sent to a mental institute. Despite Rin's Oni heritage, the mental scarring had made the young woman more stubborn and rigid. The abuse was also taken into account and she was taken in by her Father's sister's family, where Rin was given the support needed.
Her mother remained in that institute to this day, her mind too far gone for anyone to actually save. From what the file said, several of the personnel had even suggested they euthanize her for the safety of the residents and her flesh and blood.
Next on the list was Mary Kikakujou, the Fencer of the Supreme Five Swords of Aiichi. Mary had Siren Ancestry, or well, she was a full blooded siren. Her ancestors were from Greece before they slowly moved to France, where a colony of the species of Mermaidia had migrated and stayed. Unlike the regular Mermaids people knew of, Sirens were more similar to Lamia's or the Mosasaur. Undulating bodies of muscled serpentine like power, powerful limbs and strong jaws.
Mary, herself, had admitted that if she had been at Aiichi and not her clone that she would have probably defeated Issei. Issei had reinforced that as he had said, Mary's clone was pretty much her but more vindictive and dangerous. A fencer with speed and precision that was enviable for anyone with a blade, Rias wanted her in her Peerage but they would have to accept on her own.
Satori Tamaba is half Beholder, one of the weirdest people Rias had ever had to meet. That and the girl was not fully there, at least in the head. If it was from her hybrid nature or because she was not fully mentally able to think like a human was unknown to her. The girl had tried to intimidate Kuoh's PE teacher and Kendo instructor, failing spectacularly due to Naima Ima being the Sekiryuutei. She didn't want to have her in her peerage but she gave the invitation anyway, she wasn't cruel.
Warabi Hanasaka, according to her file, was a Ursa Minor, child of two Ursa Major Yokai. Rias didn't know much about these Bear-like Youkai but what she did know is that they were very dangerous in combat because you couldn't exactly hit them with physical attacks. Their bodies were made up of the fabric of space, which showed off nebulae, stars and planets. Magical attacks were the only way to deal with them. Warabi was also known for her huge female Grizzly called Kyou-bou and its child, who were left at home due to the Headmaster of Kuoh refusing to have Animal Activists trying to harm his students.
There had been several incidents across America where Animal Rights Activists had done some really stupid things, causing a lot of deaths and hurting kids. Mostly, it was some fools trying to free very dangerous animals while kids were around. Animal Activists were now on the decline as it finally seemed to kick in that animals were not needing humans to intervene on their behalf when they could easily murder them for annoying them too much.
And lastly, Tsukuyo Inaba is a human. Full stop. Inaba was simply a blind human girl that was also short, but her hearing was on another level. Rias wasn't sure but she could swear that human hearing was not that naturally good when someone was blinded, her hearing was near the level of comic book hero hearing. If she had to guess, Miss Tsukuyo had a Sacred Gear that was helping her in some fashion. Not only that, Inaba was the strongest of the Supreme Five Swords. Her speed and strength had been heightened considerably due to whatever intense training her style of swordsmanship was.
Not only that, the one called Amou Kirukiru or The Empress before her expulsion, would have been killed by Tsukuyo if her sword hadn't been made out of Zinc alloy.
Rias hummed to herself, finding that out of the five, she wanted Rin, Mary and Tsukuyo in her Peerage. Rin would fit nicely as a Rook, her Oni heritage giving her a greater defense against anyone trying to beat her down. Mary would be her second Knight, her Siren speed and agility would compliment Kiba's own. Inaba would probably take up, at most, four pawns due to her strength as a human. But, she would have to wait until the five arrived.
As she was thinking that, the ORC door was gently knocked upon and opened to reveal the Supreme Five Swords behind it.
"Please," Rias greeted with a smile, "do come in."
Riser sat at the table along with his parents, his Queen standing behind him in her usual outfit. In front of him was Lord Zeoticous Gremory and Lady Venelana Gremory, an empty seat between them. Zeoticous's Queen was behind him, a dark skinned woman with tribal-like markings marking her face and from what Riser could see, her cleavage and her body. Her outfit was made up of dragon skin, holding up her large bust and covering up her womanhood, her sharp ice blue eyes looking at him with some deep disgust. Something in him twitched, something he hadn't felt in a long time.
He wasn't sure what it was named though.
On the left was Lord Lucius Dread, wearing that accursed helmet of his while looking professional in his suit. On the right was the Lawyer of the Phenex Pillar, Amelia Grees, a blonde with a dark blue suite. Both lawyers had been going over the marriage contract while they waited for Rias Gremory to come with her Queen, though Venelana sent her Queen piece to do it as Grayfia had been rather reluctant to even see the young Heiress at all. Something had caused the Strongest Queen, next to Dread's Wife and stand-in for his Queen Callisa Drago, to start avoiding Rias like she had the plague.
That made Riser ponder on what could have caused that reaction.
Grayfia had been put under a geas by the entirety of the Devil ruling system, but in doing so, had caused the Lady of Lucifuge to become a near emotionless automaton. That had caused a stir in the younger generations, all seeing their parents as abhorrent monsters for causing one woman to become something similar to a robot. That had been a dark time, the parents were put under so much condemnation that, eventually, most of the parents were killed by their own kids before they took their spots. Very few of his generation didn't have their parents executed, because Grayfia had been a rather big morale boost during the waning years of the Devil Civil War.
However, with many of the parents having been killed, the geas had weakened but Grayfia had remained emotionless.
Riser pondered if those that survived the purging realized how idiotic they had been. Probably not, he thought as he sipped at his tea. Unlike everyone else, who had Jasmine tea, he had plain green tea. He was deathly allergic to Jasmine, something he had learned after stumbling upon the plant and taking it to his mother as a child. The effects had kicked in minutes after touching the plant, his airways constricted and his abilities shut off. He had nearly died in his mother's arms if it hadn't been for Grayfia's quick action in using her demonic powers to open his airways until he was injected with an allergy counter.
He respected Grayfia for that, as he remembered the cold hands of death closing around his throat until something forced his throat open to allow oxygen into his body.
"Sorry I was late," Rias said, following after her Queen and her mother's Queen, "I was busy getting some new peerage pieces when Sussa came."
Upon taking her seat, she raised her eyebrow at him before a cup of the Jasmine Tea was placed before her. She murmured her thanks before she spoke once more, addressing him directly.
"So, Riser," She said curtly, "why are we here exactly?"
Riser sipped his tea before answering, "I am invoking the Rating Game clause in our contract, putting a pause on voiding clause until after the game is concluded."
Rias's lips twitched in the downward motion before she let out a slow breath, "I see."
"And," He continued, "In accordance with the rules of Rating Games, I have stipulations for you to follow before we enter the arena."
Rias's eyes narrow, thankfully, her natural gifts were not on display, "And those are?"
"First," He intoned, "no direct family help or from those that they employ. Meaning you cannot ask Lord Dread or anyone that is on your Parent's payroll or your older Brothers."
That one had been to nip anything the parents may have done in the bud, given that parents usually interfered with their children's own Rating Games for personal reasons.
"Secondly, you will have two weeks to train," He said, as stipulated in the rules for Rating Games, the invoker had to give the time limit on training before a Game was to begin, "I expect you to train your peerage extra hard."
Rias rolled her eyes, "anything else?"
"Yes," He said before putting his tea cup down, "There will be no interference during the game, this game is between you and me only. No one is to try and rig the game for their own sake to win it."
"Including yourself?"
"Yes, that includes myself," He nods before standing, "if it isn't too rushed, I must be off to handle some business of my own."
He turned away, walking away from that room with his Queen at his shoulder. Hopefully, his preparations would be fruitful and let him win despite Rias's attempts to slither out of his grasp. He would not let her escape, nor would he let her win.
He was a Phenex after all, he had more experience then Rias did.
