This time is Peeta who comes out of the arena and Katniss is prisoner of the Capitol. Will Katniss let her heart win against the fear of Peeta that the Capitol had made her suffer by? Post third Quarter Quell.

Katniss has lost everyone. Prim, Peeta, Gale, her mother are all gone one way or another. But a surprise survivor appears to try to pull her back from the edge. Set at the end of "Mockingjay" and contains spoilers for that as well as a couple of changes. Femslash. Katniss/Madge romance.

All lives come to an end, even those of heroes and heroines. This is how Katniss and Peeta enter their afterlife and the joyous reunion they find there. This is a follow up to my previous story To Banish Darkness, but can be read separately. This 'stand alone' one-shot may later be extended as and when I am able to do so.

But instead of welcoming him with open arms, his family snatched as many words as they could and threw them at him, driving him away, but not before he saw what he had really done to them. Then these words were whispered away, mother to child and sister to brother. And they were never forgotten.

The war is long over and the Rebellion is simply something of the past. Panem is a mostly happy place to live now and the Games are just a haunting memory to most.
