What Was Meant to Be

La'an Noonien-Singh has had more than her fair amount of tragedy and pain. She had given up on love in her life though she would die to protect it for the lives of others. A connection she can't explain, one that just won't let her ignore or forget has La'an remembering some of her childhood hopes and dreams of love. Will Jim T. Kirk make her realize everyone deserves a chance?

I had this idea before previews and rumors of Season 2, Episode 10 surfaced and had started writing it then; however, with the season finale, I'm making some changes.

I'm new to the Star Trek franchise and will more than likely mess up on getting the lore and cannon right so I ask for grace.

In my prologue, the two races/species introduced are, to the best of my knowledge, ones I made up. Again, I mention I am not familiar with all the races and species that are part of Trek history.

What I am, is a fan of the show and a romantic at heart.

There is a lot of pain and angst in the beginning; however, I believe in the power of love conquering all and the romance will definitely come out to play in later chapters.
